- chevyorange, on 09/04/2008, -0/+32Politicians count on the fact the electorate have short memories. I love the two-way street that the conservatives demand for themselves lately. I don't think they realize the thick skin they have created for anyone else that stands in their way due to their endless *****-slinging. Nothing is worse than your own medicine, huh GOP?
- froston, on 09/04/2008, -0/+26This is why Jon Stewart is the most trusted dude in News. ***** CNN, ***** MSNBC, TRIPLE ***** FoX.
How is it possible that we live in a country where the best source of news is COMEDY CENTRAL... - EnviroChem, on 05/22/2009, -0/+22The hypocrisy of Republican talking head apologists knows no bounds.
- kingUssop, on 09/04/2008, -0/+18So many aholes including Bill O'Reilly and Rove proved to be liars in this, don't miss it!
- Deadpixel1221, on 09/04/2008, -0/+17And the media once again falls in line. I'm so sick and tired of these douche bags and their followers getting away with this *****. Is it that hard to hold their feet to the fire?
Jon Stewart the most honest reporter in America. - apkulick, on 09/04/2008, -1/+18Can someone on the right explain this to me?
Please don't say "This is a comedy show - it shouldn't be taken seriously".
Removing all of Stewart and his staff's jokes, there's a serious amount of hypocrisy that anyone can see in the video clips. - yokel, on 09/04/2008, -0/+16Wow, brilliant. I love the way he didn't have do much. The clips speak for themselves.
- MCGEEST, on 09/04/2008, -0/+15Palin the reformer!
Palin is #1 when it comes to pork barrel spending.
http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/nationworld/ ...
Disgracefull, in a time of soaring revenues for Alaska due to high oil prices paid for by Americans she takes your hard earned money twice. And leaves you with a deficit of cartoony proportions.
It sure does make her popular back home though!
But she still managed to leave her town of 6000 people, a $5 million budget and NO debt with a $22 million debt. She fired city employees for not 'supporting her' tried to censor the library and fire the librarian when she did not comply, supported the bridge to nowhere before it became a national joke but still took the earmark money, ran a 527 for Ted Stevens and her husband used to be a member of the Alaska secessionist party which she attended and she is under investigation for the firing of a state trooper for doing his job.
Great reform record! - tonyoppenheim, on 09/04/2008, -0/+13@apkulick, there's no way to explain it. They just say whatever they think works for their side at any given moment. They count on everyone having no memory. Ooops!! Thank goodness and Apple Pie for Jon Stewart!
I loved the "lying sack of S**t!" line! - Gorstagg, on 09/04/2008, -0/+12This was incredibly funny, and should really get a chance to go up on the big board for all the Digg community to see..
- duggtodeath, on 09/04/2008, -0/+12Perfect examples of Neocon doublespeak.
Bravo, Jon, Bravo! - MediaWeasel, on 09/04/2008, -0/+11Magnificent.
- zinger18, on 09/04/2008, -0/+9Yeah, video evidence is pretty shaky, isn't it. They probably faked the whole segment, huh?
- Sostby, on 09/04/2008, -0/+9You have got to love the digital age where you go on the recoud every second of every day!! Bye Bye Spin doctors!
- dlm85, on 09/04/2008, -2/+10Newt made the best comment afterwards. He said, "I agree with Rove."
- apkulick, on 09/04/2008, -2/+10And please don't answer my question with a question/insult about Obama. If you have a question, answer this one and then politely ask yours (if that's even possible for some on this site).
- JohnBayne, on 09/04/2008, -0/+7Tee-hee. Trust a woman to be hypocritically sexist.
- inactive, on 09/04/2008, -0/+6Surprise, surprise, political pundits contradict themselves. Who knew.....
- supermom2005, on 09/04/2008, -0/+6How can so many people drink the Kool Aid? Anyone can clearly see they say one thing one day.... and another thing the next day.
Open your eyes and ears! You don't even have to know how to read.
Watch this video, watch them all double talk! - diggerbez, on 09/04/2008, -0/+5Well it is her ONLY card
- beamin1, on 09/05/2008, -0/+5Jon is the man..
- RamonaInCA, on 09/05/2008, -0/+5Not only are John and the writers hilarious…they're doing a public service by pointing out the hypocrisy of the republicans. I’m not sure repub’s have figured out that their statements are frequently on tape and can be recalled. I think they’re accustomed to lazy reporting and writing – where they constantly get away with their shenanigans. Hopefully the media will not give up on exposing the truth about “right to choose.” A guy on the plane tonight tried to tell me Palin is better at negotiating and persuading … I replied to this white guy, “Do you have any concept on how hard it is to get a whole bunch of white people (and a whole lot of SMART white people) to (against huge odds) endorse a black guy??? I think Barack can convince and negotiate a whole lot better than Palin could, even in her dreams.
- samsam77, on 09/04/2008, -1/+5The hippo convention
- lindsayruck, on 09/05/2008, -0/+4i want to marry jon stewart... i love him that much :)
- Dreamented, on 11/08/2008, -0/+4And yet in the face of all of this evidence, Republicans will still sling insults back at those who can't fathom this kind of blatant disregard for America and what it's supposed to stand for, and at the same time find some way to make all of this the Democrat's fault. And then they wonder why this county is in such horrible shape after 8 years of this? Oh wait, I'm sure that's the Democrats' fault as well.
- jessay, on 09/05/2008, -0/+4One of the few voices of reason.
- duggtodeath, on 09/04/2008, -0/+4Ack! You got me with your Polish logic!
- amirshahkarami, on 09/05/2008, -0/+3This is too funny.
- inactive, on 09/04/2008, -0/+3I'll explain it to you, this is what pundits do, regardless of right or left. They attack and they defend against attacks. Regardless of whether or not they've previously issued attacks in the same manner as the ones they're defending.
It's called entertainment. Again, that's what pundits do. If you're claiming it doesn't happen on both sides, then you're either not paying attention, or you have selective memory. - hautediggity, on 09/04/2008, -1/+3really? i'm a republican -- one who shamefully admits to voting for dubya in 2000 & 2004 -- & i love the fact that at least someone has the balls to shed light on the hypocrisy in BOTH parties.
if the msm made an attempt to do an honest analysis of the candidates every once in a while like the daily show, maybe americans would stop drinking the koolaid & we'd finally elect the president we need, as opposed to the president we deserve b/c we were too busy to pay attention to the actual issues.
& don't say jon stewart is biased towards obama on his show; he's an equal opportunity satirist. only, the ironic thing here is that the humor in this video fades pretty fast when you realize how pathetic these fair & balanced "journalists" are. - inactive, on 09/04/2008, -0/+2"a great deal of the country won't do the work on their own."
Remember, a great deal of the country has also never seen the inside of a voting booth. We can only hope it's those same people.
"Obviously, the press has evolved into a ratings-reliant machine so the chances of frank discussions instead of heated arguments seems remote"
Rating rule, which is why each network comes up with their own catchy orchestra music and flashy intro graphics for war coverage. - sullivanst, on 09/04/2008, -0/+2The only explanation is that they're craven hypocrites, but it's OK because it keeps them in power - they hope.
- apkulick, on 09/04/2008, -0/+2I'm not claiming this doesn't happen on both sides, but this is much more than entertainment. You cannot deny that the words of pundits shape opinions in this country. In my mind this holds them to a much higher standard than many of them can claim to.
You can say that this is the politics of the day and i should just accept it, but i can't. Many people (for better or worse) form their opinions on these kinds of soundbites. I don't think asking someone to sift through he BS on both sides for the people of this country is too much - but then it wouldn't make for compelling TV now would it :( - lancelotcq2, on 09/07/2008, -0/+2Tod Palin was, from 1994 to 2002, a member of a far right wing fringe secessionist party called Alaska Indepence Party. They've voted repeatedly to make Alaska its own country. They've burned the U.S. flag.
How is this not bigger news? Obama's flag pin was big news, yet this gets somehow overlooked? The Palin's themselves have admitted he was a member. Shame on the news media for not picking this up and running with it.
People magazine talks about good ol boy Tod's love of snowmobiling, but nothing about his participation in an anti-American party.
I'm sick to my stomach by this guy and Sarah Palin too. I can't stomach any more lies. John McCain is trying to sell the biggest whopper to the American people by picking this radically inappropriate vp.
I guess he thinks he can get away with not letting her do interviews about all this stuff. I guess he thinks the American people are stupid.
He's wrong.
Obama/Biden 08 - inactive, on 09/04/2008, -0/+2"You cannot deny that the words of pundits shape opinions in this country."
Not the intelligent people in this country. By that I don't mean IQ, I mean those with critical thinking ability. If it wasn't for the Daily Show playing these clips, or clips from O'Reilly, Olbermann, etc., I never would have seen them with my own eyes. That's something I'm honestly proud of. Mainly because I get a chance to see them in the appropriate setting, and that is: being mocked endlessly for their ridiculousness.
"You can say that this is the politics of the day and i should just accept it"
Yes it is, and no you don't have to. You have the power to turn the channel.
"don't think asking someone to sift through he BS on both sides for the people of this country is too much"
I don't think asking the people to do it for themselves is too much to ask either. Yet, that has just about the same chance of happening as what you're suggesting. The minute a person starts talking about "the issues" they're doing it from a biased viewpoint...their own. - apkulick, on 09/04/2008, -0/+2So it seems like we sort of agree, but you've come to grips with reality of the situation better than I have at this point :)
- apkulick, on 09/04/2008, -0/+2I guess I'm cynical in that I know a great deal of the country won't do the work on their own. At it's core, the press is supposed to be the BS detector - at least that's what the Constitution provides for.
Obviously, the press has evolved into a ratings-reliant machine so the chances of frank discussions instead of heated arguments seems remote - Funnylink, on 09/04/2008, -7/+8Clearly all democrats are sexist and would never want a woman leading the country.
- byrd3000b, on 09/05/2008, -0/+1You're an idiot.
- geneikillua, on 09/04/2008, -2/+3Much of the criticism of Palin is not sexist. However, a good part of it is. Questioning whether she's being a good mother because she has 5 children and works full time, saying she covered up her daughter's pregnancy and Trig is not her son, looking at years old pictures of her daughter and saying she looks fat-- these things are sexist.
- gmudd, on 09/19/2008, -0/+0Stewart at his best. O'Reilly, Rove & Morris have to be three of most disingenuous ***** in politics.
- apkulick, on 09/04/2008, -1/+1Not very reassuring response so far. Perhaps a title lacking the words "Jon Stewart" may have attracted a more bipartisan crowd :)
- MeTheDon, on 09/10/2008, -0/+0Another amazing satire by Jon Stewart unmasking the 2 faced right wing fanboys.
- ldaudelin, on 09/11/2008, -0/+0This ***** all works because there are people on the right that will never vote Democrat and they're just craving to hear whatever lies can comfort them. That's why you have this big Republican smoke machine. They don't care whether it's true or false. You won't even be able to bring a republican to watch the above video because they don't want to be contradicted in their comfort zone. They're happy in it.
- inactive, on 09/04/2008, -2/+1Because the left never double-speaks.....
What a fair and impartial assessment you (and Jon Stewart) offer. - TCSavant, on 09/04/2008, -5/+0I think Jon is just testing out new material in preparation of a McCain administration.
- jeffbw, on 09/04/2008, -7/+1John Stewart and his libruhl media again.
- lovemybush, on 09/04/2008, -21/+2This is totally going to bite the Hollywood Liberal-livered media can lap it up, but America is not going to fall for it.

What is Digg?
