- inactive, on 10/01/2008, -31/+726"I won't send the raped girl to jail for having an abortion."
That's nice, Ms. Palin, but what about the girl's doctor? - thegrantman, on 10/02/2008, -17/+530She supports a culture of life as she proudly sends her son to war.
- no2gates, on 10/01/2008, -28/+531How about we have her call in sick and replace her with Tina Fey? I think Tina would do a better job.
- jarogers, on 10/01/2008, -35/+474Wow, that's extreme and scary.

- inactive, on 10/01/2008, -43/+380Sarah Palin is an awful human being.
- renanrcarvalho, on 10/01/2008, -27/+297And she wants to be VP? That's disturbing to watch!
- inactive, on 10/01/2008, -23/+284dugg because people need to know what a moron she is! and to think, she could be president...
- johnnr2, on 10/02/2008, -4/+224That's an insult to morons everywhere.
- JigoroKano, on 10/02/2008, -12/+228So abortion is murder, but the murderer (let's assume the abortion is self inflicted) shouldn't be punished?
I assume only a doctor would be punished? And what did the doctor do? The doctor made the abortion safer... and that is what is deserving of punishment.
Once you equate the life of a fully grown human being to that of a single cell, all logic is thrown out the window. - barryiggins, on 10/02/2008, -4/+192if you get owned by Katie Couric, you might be transcending into a whole new sphere of moronity
- ketchupwfries, on 10/02/2008, -18/+204She's against it because she was never in that situation. Let's see her get raped and impregnated by a homeless junkie and decide not to get an abortion. Inconsiderate moronic twit.
- Sonewall, on 10/02/2008, -2/+154The bears can smell the menstration! Great, now she's put us all in danger. Way to go, Palin.
- cards, on 10/02/2008, -8/+154Quotes are for things people actually said.
- inactive, on 12/08/2008, -8/+154She's the worst kind of stupid. The kind that's cruel and lacking in empathy.
- upick, on 10/02/2008, -18/+137She's got no clue on what she's talking about, who want's a baby with their own father.
She's clearly a red neck / idiot - bananasluggy, on 10/02/2008, -10/+123So I wonder about these people who say, "life begins at conception." Seeing as how a fertilized egg can be shed during a woman's menstrual cycle (not all attach), you have a "whole person" being flushed down the toilet. Do the sexually active women who think this way mourn as if they had a miscarriage, every time they have a period? They can't be "sure" after all... Where's the little Monthly Mourning caskets, into which the bereft woman can place her pads, tampons, and filtered toilet water, after having named it all?
"Counseling" someone is one thing. Changing the law so that women have no choice but to give birth to rapist's children, or their father's children is totally different.
Just because it may be "alive" doesn't mean it's a person. If an adult were, brain-wise, the same as a 12-week old fetus, we'd call that person brain dead and they'd be hauled off life support and the organ harvesters would start circling. Even if the person is a "person", no one has the right to hijack someone else's body for life support against that person's will.
If the right-to-lifers are so adamant about the sacred value of life, why is so much hate dumped on single women who have children? They should be applauded. Why aren't they offering women who are thinking of abortion $20k (the going rate for a surrogacy) as well as offering to pay all medical expenses, living expenses, and offering to pay for training, education, or whatnot, so the women could hope to have a good job and take care of their children themselves?... why don't they fight for good childcare so that women who were abandoned by their inseminators can go out and make a living, knowing their children are in good hands?
Far easier to dump hate on women who can't handle pregnancy, and then heap hate on the women who choose to keep their children, despite their inability to care for, provide for, or raise, given their current situations.
I hear a lot of, "don't don't don't!" but not a lot of options being offered. Yeah, so it's nice if women keep their legs crossed until they've got rings on their fingers, but what of the men? They're the ones with the loaded guns... heap hate on them for a change for shooting and running. No woman can get pregnant if the men she's with are shooting blanks. - streak, on 10/02/2008, -3/+116Even Dan Quayle wasn't regularly this bad.

- b8man99, on 10/02/2008, -2/+108Wait, you want them to be allowed to abort the child AFTER they've been born? Mum? I've told you about this - it's just too late - let it go!
- phroztbyt3, on 10/02/2008, -11/+108god isn't here.. if he/she was.. Palin would be smote.
No.. name calling should not be a big issue... unless someone is indeed fundamentally WRONG.
She did seem like an idiot in this clip, she contradicted herself by saying she is for the morning after pill, and then saying she isn't.
So to say she is a ***** moron is fundamentally true.
"I do believe in gravity"
"Wait wait... my own personal opinion... I don't believe in gravity"
Look at that comparison and dont go spewing crap like "well.. this is comparing apples and oranges"... NO.. that is a straight contradiction in mid-interview. I mean, candidates flip-flop their opinions based on votes sometimes, but it is safe to say that Palin IS A ***** MORON! - 80hd, on 10/02/2008, -4/+98Freakin sweet.
Laws with no penalty
I like how she can't commit to anything. You ask her what her favorite newspaper is and get a total nonresponse.
You ask her if she would make abortions absolutely illegal, she says yes, but the law might as well not exist since it will require nothing to do be done about infringement...
Go sell a another plane or something.... (she actually never SOLD the plane, it failed to reach reserve and ended up going through a standard broker after eBay failed btw) - ctabone, on 10/02/2008, -2/+93Obligatory flash link:

- Alli3388, on 10/02/2008, -7/+92She did NOT say she was against contraceptives. She said she was all for them. I hate her, but please, let's not be liars when we talk about it.
- AdmiralHalsey, on 10/02/2008, -1/+85Couric is pretending to get her, but she keeps letting Palin off the hook. No one really cares whether or not she chooses 'personally' to use something or not. What are your views on the governments role in regulating abortion? It's obvious, just get her to say it instead of eluding the fact that she wants to decide for everyone what is right and wrong.
- mediaphile, on 10/02/2008, -5/+87More troubling than the fact that she has a pro-life stance is the part where she says she hasn't talked to anyone who disagrees with her about what she thinks.
How can anyone who hopes to run a country really never have talked to people on both sides of such an important issue? Is she really that sheltered? I mean, I'm not even in politics and I've gathered more opinions on both sides of the subject (not that I ever try to bring up abortion in normal conversation, mind you). She must be living around nothing but people who tell her "yes" all the time, and having people constantly agree with you does nothing but breed ignorance and prevent real discussion. - toptopics, on 10/01/2008, -103/+180this female is crazy!! shez against taking contraceptives? God!! This is ***** unbelievable.. and how would this bitch feel is she was a product of rape or incest?? Please register to vote.. don't allow this bitch to ruin America.
http://www.voteforchange.com - greenleaflink, on 10/02/2008, -2/+75holy *****, seriously how many more of these damn videos does couric have?
anyone keeping count? - kainite, on 10/01/2008, -15/+88Wow, the bar has been set so low, that I was impressed that she was able to actually answer the question. Disagree with the answer but impressed that one was given.
- GamingForever, on 10/01/2008, -21/+93Women who are raped and have babies should be allowed to have an abortion.
- MelvinSchlubman, on 10/02/2008, -1/+72Biden had better not let her get away with that evasiveness. Re the morning after pill, she (in that limited clip) says she would not personally use it. Hey, dumbass, we want to know if you would work as VP (or P) to make it illegal. Is there more to this clip where Couric presses her on that? She's against abortion, but wouldn't want people to go to jail for it - what then? She's saying she wouldn't influence legislation or judge/justice nominations? No one believes that.
- tdclark23, on 10/01/2008, -3/+68She doesn't make me horny. She makes me the opposite of horny.
- sinuegoist, on 10/02/2008, -10/+74Sarah Palin seems like a person who fits more in a crazy cult than in the Oval Office.
- honeybrass, on 10/02/2008, -5/+69Save skin cells! They have double chromosomes! and are capable of dividing.
- Seldon2639, on 10/02/2008, -34/+97Well, look at it from the other perspective, guys. I'm pro-choice, but we can at least see where they're coming from. If you believe, as they do, that life has begun at the moment of conception, then that baby shouldn't be punished for the sins of his or her father. It's not about the mother, it's about the defenseless baby.
I don't agree with limits on abortions, but the opposing position isn't based on stupidity, or hatred, or ignorance, it's a legitimate disagreement about what's going on when an abortion happens. I personally don't think the child is "real" until it could survive outside of the womb (and the Supreme Court is behind me on that), but I can certainly see how a person (if she concludes that the baby is already a full human being) deserves to be protected, no matter what the circumstances of the child's conception.
To allow a baby to be punished for the sins of its father is a bit like debtor prison, except with executions. - VeryBoredNow, on 10/02/2008, -2/+62JUST ANSWER THE F*CKIN QUESTION!!!!!!... Is it just me or did Katie have to ask her everything like 3 times and never actually getting a question out of it. The next person to interview that moron should do it strictly on a yes/no basis. I still might not work. "Are you pro-life, yes or no?" Palin: "welll....see the thing with..."
- smacksaw, on 10/02/2008, -6/+64This is where conservatives lose a lot of people - especially women. They don't put their money where their mouth is. Look - it's not a difficult equation. If you want to discourage abortion, open up your wallet and pay for all of these unwanted babies. It's as simple as that.
But there's this horrible mismatch of philosophies. The first people to decry paying for anyone else's "anything" are these so-called libertarian conservatives. Yet these are the same Republicans who think abortion should be illegal. Not very libertarian there. People should be free and have privacy.
The reality is that sex happens, as do rapes. Both lead to unwanted pregnancies. If this is such a pressing social ill, pay for it. Make it obsolete. We should support people getting contraception, we should keep abortion legal. But we ought to do everything in our power to prevent unwanted pregnancies and care for children who are products of these situations. I think a lot of people agree with Palin that we need less unwanted pregnancies, but we should not tie one hand behind our backs and pre-emptively disqualify birth control as immoral and then refuse to pay for the people who have these innocent kids.
We can make abortion obsolete so that the legality of it becomes an option that never needs exercising. And, as a side note, if life is so important to her, she should be against the death penalty and war as well. - kingofinternet, on 10/02/2008, -2/+58it was either war or jail, the kid was a petty criminal and oxycontin user.
- nick1971, on 10/02/2008, -4/+59Its frightening I know but having watched all available Palin interview material I think in this segment she was at least coherent. I disagree with her view point completely but at least I could understand what she was saying. Her answers to other question can only be described as fatuous, making the viewer want to replace her with a Barbie doll in order to obtain a higher intellectual bandwidth.
What I still do not understand in US politics is why this question occurs in every election. Since 1973 (Roe vs Wade) there has been a decision by the supreme court that abortion is legal. To my recollection I have never heard this point being debated in any European election in the last 25 years.
No one likes the concept but by restricting access you endanger the mother. I am also amazed that the right wing not only wants to ban / restrict abortions but wants to preach abstinence. The US has a significantly higher rate of terminations of pregnancy and teenage pregnancies. Perhaps more time should be spent on teaching about contraception rather than preaching a sexual ethics code which goes against the normal emotional grain of teenagers. - recordingautist, on 10/01/2008, -3/+57http://www.sadtrombone.com/
- inactive, on 10/02/2008, -5/+57You, sir, NAILED it.
- Atomic05, on 10/02/2008, -1/+47I don't think its any of our business to try and force women to adhere to someone else's morals, especially if it involves rape. As far as abortion in general, we should focus on prevention of unwanted pregnancies in the first place by improving education on sex and making contraceptives more available.
No amount of legislation on the topic will stop these pregnancies and keep abortions from happening, but I guarantee that knowledge will. - johnpaul191, on 10/02/2008, -7/+53I can't call somebody "Pro-Life" when they support war and capital punishment. Let alone the fact that she's a proud hunter.
- thelostemperor, on 10/02/2008, -0/+45"We're here! We're queer! We don't want any more bears!"
-H. J. Simpson - inactive, on 10/02/2008, -5/+50They're not babies, they are fetuses. Or embryos in some cases even.
- shutaro, on 10/02/2008, -4/+49Yes, if we kill all the babies then what will John McCain have to eat?
- shutaro, on 10/02/2008, -4/+48Agreed, that's just another example of her gross lack of experience.
