- oldgraygeek, on 09/21/2008, -12/+321A year ago, I was saying "At least, if McCain's the nominee, he's not a complete sleazeball like the other Republican candidates."
Now, I think he's the worst of the bunch. - ScientistSteve, on 09/21/2008, -20/+292SNL highlights this sad reality of the McCain campaign -- it's build substantially on lies. The Senator McCain of the past impressed me a lot. Candidate McCain is radically different. Where has "straight talk" and "sacrifice" gone?
- insticate, on 09/21/2008, -11/+180If only McCain would have campaigned with honor and integrity, major issues could have been discussed by both campaigns, and the voters would have benefited from listening to proposed solutions from both McCain and Obama, and then could have made an informed choice. But thanks to McCain, some voters will only be deciding whether lipstick looks good on a pig or whether Obama really wants kindergartners to learn about sexually transmitted diseases.
- inactive, on 09/21/2008, -14/+139The sad part is, McCain might still win.
Thank you racists, and middle America. You've successfully ruined 'hope,' - and I don't mean that word as a campaign slogan either. - itswhatson, on 09/21/2008, -10/+132For the first time, when the McCain Bury Brigade reports this as "Possibly Inaccurate", they'll be right.
In fact, that's the point. - lncb2u, on 09/21/2008, -16/+112Believe he's always been "sleazy," just a little investigation unearths that fact. He hides his character behind a POW status, milked it for all it worth -- other POWs, veterans know the truth, that he has voted against them and, wisely, distrust him.
Any one over 50 should distrust whatever it is he is saying on Social Security - he's out to destroy it, believe the opposite of what he says -- he will throw up a smoke screen and definitely lie because he would not win if we knew the truth of his plans - don't fall for it! - masterspeaks, on 09/21/2008, -16/+89I think this is a totally unfunny skit. I think a much more appropriate skit would revolve around John McCain dumping his crippled wife for a beer-heiress 20 years his junior. Oh wait, that's not a skit, that is the sad life of the low-road express John McCain has ridden the last 30 years.

-Douglas Adams - PatsBard, on 09/21/2008, -5/+65Look up Keating 5 and Jack Abramoff. This McCain is the past McCain with a spotlight on him.
- HappyScrappy, on 09/21/2008, -2/+58As an added note, the individual (Charlie Condon) who came up with the "If you knew McCain had fathered a black baby out of wedlock, would it change your vote?" push poll ***** in South Carolina was hired by McCain to run his South Carolina campaign. I miss the old John McCain, this new guy is scum.

- LeeinJax, on 09/21/2008, -6/+53I believe McCain/Palin are (never thought I would say this) even worse than Bush/Cheney.
These guys are trying to destroy, loot and pillage our country! - diggproof, on 09/21/2008, -11/+51McCain cannot stop the bleeding, his campaign is officially a joke.
- diggproof, on 09/21/2008, -3/+42I think they've worn out their ability to mark articles as so. After doing it for every single article, I think Digg's engine no longer weighs their inaccurate buries as much as it used to.
- diggproof, on 09/21/2008, -1/+40When your campaign is run almost entirely by lobbyists who have screwed over the American people over and over again, you're not going to have a campaign that runs on honesty. You're going to (and we've seen this so far) get distortions of the truth, outright lies, and deception.
The only way McCain can win is by lying. Simple as that. - KainDL, on 09/21/2008, -6/+43My friends....

/s - joe8pack, on 09/21/2008, -13/+39The foolish and the superficial love this man. Sarah Palin is like icing on this cake of rat poison, many will swallow it whole, it is what they have been trained to do. Don't question authority, those in charge are there for your best interest, they are looking out for you.
There is no way to save fools from themselves, unfortunately they will likely drown us all when they sink the ship. Make no mistake George Bush and the fools in charge have destroyed this country, the U.S.A. is just a photo op for fascism, McCain is a new face on the same old regime. The collapse of the economic system will change things, it will be the rate and severity of the collapse that determines what sort of nation will inhabit this landscape in the next few years. Many executive orders have been signed allowing the president sweeping powers, powers of a dictator, no one signs such laws unless they intend them to be used at some point. We are soon reaching those points, we are in all likelihood electing a president who will at some point become a dictator, shall we have a FDR style dictator or a Hitler style dictator?
In November you will choose your new collar, try to pick a comfortable one, it may be around your neck for decades. - seantubridy, on 09/21/2008, -3/+27"McCain knows more about technology than the Oblahblah."

Yes, because dailykos is who wrote, directed, acted, and produced that sketch.
Please never reproduce. - Wakkyweed, on 09/21/2008, -8/+29I generally don't bother watching SNL because it always seems to get lamer and lamer every year, but when election time swings around they always seem to step up to the plate and deliver some knockout punches. Looks like I need to set the Tivo to record it for the next two months. I know that I'm really going to need a few laughs before this thing is over!
Sorry for the mixed metaphor, by the way. - iamchewy, on 09/21/2008, -0/+19Hey troll, I'll bite:
Q: But do you go on line for yourself?
Mr. McCain: They go on for me. I am learning to get online myself, and I will have that down fairly soon, getting on myself. I don’t expect to be a great communicator, I don’t expect to set up my own blog, but I am becoming computer literate to the point where I can get the information that I need – including going to my daughter’s blog first, before anything else.
Q: Do you use a blackberry or email?
Mr. McCain: No
Mark Salter: He uses a BlackBerry, just ours.
Mr. McCain: I use the Blackberry, but I don’t e-mail, I’ve never felt the particular need to e-mail. I read e-mails all the time, but the communications that I have with my friends and staff are oral and done with my cell phone.

- TheLoneHoot, on 09/21/2008, -5/+22FAIL
I can see why you might be confused, but let me point out the subtle differences. Sure, both are EXTREMELY biased. However, Franken uses facts and truth, and Coulter has a larger adams apple. - kismetropolis, on 09/21/2008, -0/+17Yes, but that was the point. To say IN WEDLOCK like that makes out like a black man fathering two children is a bad thing. Or like people will interpret it as OUT OF WEDLOCK regardless of the accurate wording.
You know what they say. If you have to explain the joke... - ClosedCaption, on 09/21/2008, -3/+20McCain Straight Talk Express has always been set in Reverse.
Sidenote: DKos shows a video from NBC that was on SNL and the McCainiacs still want to bury it because its ON Dkos..Truely amazing - TheLoneHoot, on 09/21/2008, -2/+18(sigh) okay here you go
McCain used to be labeled a "maverick" for fairly legitimate reasons, because he often voted against the GOP based on sound reasoning. (If he were to do that today, you reich wingers would lump him into the same category as Chuck Hagel and call him left wing commie traitor.) Now John McCain fully embraces Bush (and yes that IS a jab at the famous "hug" photo), shows nothing of his previously principled ability to break with the GOP, is wooing extremist evangelicals, and relying on cheap stunts (selecting Palin) to get elected. He's nothing like the McCain of 2000. Not to mention the fact that he is more deserving of the title "flip flopper" than John Kerry. He's depressingly out of touch with regard to EVERYTHING - frankly (and I'm not just saying this) I honestly think we're seeing the beginnings of dementia, and that's not who I want between Sarah Palin's finger and "the button".
His campaign is full of lies, insofar as his attack ads are concerned, as well as his speech writers' claims about Obama.
Obama shady? mmmmm I don't think anywhere near as much as McSame and Palin. But let's go ahead and pull out your best stuff here:
- You obviously are referring to his prior association with a former business partner who wasn't on the "up and up". Was Obama involved in his former business partner's misdealings? No.
- Also, you probably are trying to refer to Obama's relationship with Rev. Jeramiah Wright. Obama was very disappointed in Wright's rhetoric, said that it didn't represent his own views, and went so far as to "officially" disassociate himself with Wright. Compare that to Grampy McSame's stance on his much-wooed Pastor Hagee, who was equally as offensive as Wright.
- Then there's the favorite of all you Reich wing trolls: barack HUSSEIN obama, FEAR TERROR FEEEEEAR!!!!! I like how you Reichtards always ASSume that he named himself. Yes, he chose his own name at birth and pre-determined the religious background of his father who, when the baby turned two, would later leave.
What else are you intimating with the "shady" comment?
Bashing Sarah Palin with lies? Um, not necessary pal, not by a longshot. HER lies are what have painted her to be the absolute joke that she is. She's done more to harm her image than anyone else. Period. From the instant it was announced that McSame had chosen her as a running mate (oh, I'm sorry, as he said, "soul mate" - yeah after all that vetting), it was widely seen for the obvious cheap political stunt that it was, and for how it wouldn't work. And it hasn't. In fact, everytime she opens her mouth it becomes obvious that it's not only not working, but it's actually working AGAINST McSame. His selection of her was a present for the Obama camp, and really has opened the eyes of those who still weren't sure about McSame.
Lastly, your comments about Diggers... you're on here - you're a digger. Now ***** completely off. - JLSN, on 09/21/2008, -7/+23Thank you SNL, that was a nice thrashing.
- trafficlight, on 09/21/2008, -7/+22It's funny because it's true.
- elwior, on 09/21/2008, -1/+16 McCain will go down as a sleazebag after this election, and with the campaign he's running now, deservedly so!
- topgigmedia, on 09/21/2008, -0/+15That may be the whole point. Remember 2000 and 2004? The joke of a campaign won both times then.
- athnam, on 09/21/2008, -3/+17You are SO wrong. Al Franken is humorist. Ann Coulter is a sadist.
- mrASSMAN, on 09/21/2008, -0/+14I can't tell if you're serious. Your sarcasm is legendary.
- MacEnvy, on 09/21/2008, -0/+14(don't forget the /s)
- Mujokan, on 09/21/2008, -1/+15I guess I'm naive, but I actually expected that this campaign would be less negative and more substantial than previous ones. I thought McCain's character would be enough to ensure the issues took center stage.
I guess I forgot that McCain had to please the base, and that the Republican base still insists on supporting policies that are failed or indefensible. Somehow I thought McCain would just campaign for the independents and swing voters from a common-sense platform, and tell the base to go jump. But turns out he had to give the base what they wanted to hear, to get money and volunteers and all the rest.
So here we are, back running against McCain in a Bush mask and Palin in a Cheney mask (Is that a mask? The chin looks the same. Maybe they are cousins or something.) Karl Rove's strategists are directing the campaign.
So the bottom line is -- did Americans learn anything from the last eight years? Nothing has changed, and if McCain couldn't move the Republicans to the center, no-one can. Back to the future -- it's 2000 all over again. - afx1, on 09/21/2008, -1/+14he's not, but his is adding his stamp of approval to them
- bongfarmer, on 09/21/2008, -2/+15Is Obama saving up the Keating 5 scandal and Jack Abramoff?
IS there anything McCain is saving up till the end on Obama(That Hillary knew not to play)? Its not like the american media would know or talk about things that aren't press releases - PGPirate, on 09/21/2008, -4/+17Wow, not mention of POW or 9/11. Yet it is still a good skit.
