- WebWizard, on 04/25/2008, -51/+344I guess inciting civil disobedience is legal?
Let me make sure I've got the republican agenda straight:
- Stuff ballot boxes (don't call it vote fraud)
- Riot at the convention (no, not inciting a riot, course not)
- Deliberately spread disinformation. Just cry and scream until the 'out of context' quotes gain traction. (no,not lies)
- Main thing: stay away from the issues! We sure don't want anybody looking at our record for the past 8 years! Somebody might notice that we have virtually bankrupted the country, trashed our international standing, taken a dump on the constitution/international law/civil rights, used a trumped up war to distract everyone from all the important domestic items that we've been neglecting, subverted the media (heh, they let us do it!), and dozens of other failures.
That way, we can keep the 'moral high ground' and line our pockets a little more. Keep it going! Who thought we'd get away with it for this long! - barackoblogger, on 04/25/2008, -27/+204Imagine if a (black) Obama supporter said this. The media would explode the story from now until the convention.
- vudicarus, on 04/25/2008, -33/+188An intelligent caller calls Rush on his *****:
Lisa: You were saying that you were hoping for a White Christmas if the Democrats choose Hillary over Obama and you even kind of sang your statement to the tune of White Christmas or did you mean a white country? What exactly did you mean by that statement yesterday?
Rush: Ho ho ho.
Lisa: Because I feel like all Americans, the American people want is what’s best for this country.
Rush: No, they don’t.
Lisa: Why does this have to be a hate-filled comment from you and other radio hosts?
Rush: Lisa, there’s nothing but love for people, care and concern for people.
Lisa: It didn’t sound that way yesterday.
Rush: Well, you’re picking a selective moment. How often do you listen to the show?
Lisa: I listen almost every day.
Rush: You do?
Lisa: Yes I do. So I was a bit surprised should I say shocked that you were so blatant with that comment.
Rush: I’ve made the comment before.
Lisa: Who wishes for riots, who wants that to happen in this country?
Rush: Who wishes for riots? I didn’t get the ball rolling, it is Democrats like Al Sharpton that there will be….
Lisa: Rush.
Rush: You need to be calling Rev. Sharpton…
Lisa: I’m calling the gentlemen who made the comment yesterday and sang to the tune of I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas. What, what was that about?
Rush: It was about nothing. You are, you are taking…
Lisa: You are an intelligent man and I don’t think anything you do is about nothing…
Rush: Lisa.
Lisa: Everything you say and do on your radio show has a purpose. I’ve been listening long enough to pick up on that, Rush.
Rush: What’s happening here is that your own racism and your own projection of racism is forcing you..
Lisa: I have never wished for riots in my country.
Rush: You are reading my mind. Between the two of us, you are the racist
Lisa: I’m tired of gas prices, I’m tired of truck drivers not being able to get to deliver goods. I’m tired of people getting kicked out of their homes. I’m tired. I just want what’s best for this country for everybody–white—black–Chinese—and I NEVER wished for riots.
Rush: I see Americans, you see colors and races…
Lisa: I didn’t say White Christmas or white country, which one?
Lisa: I wish you would take your comments back and just really start from scratch. Republicans, Democrats, we need to do away with both parties and what think what’s best for this country and all that would do is put Rush out of business with his hate filled discussions every day…
Rush: We need to put liberals out of business, Lisa. We need to put mush minds out of business like you.
Lisa: Why am I a mush mind? Why are you resulting to name calling, sir?

Jesus Christ. This man deserves to be punched squarely in his smug bloated face. Of course Limbaugh tells his viewers that violence at a major political gathering would help the country and the MSM lets it slide...Don Imus calls some basketball players hoes and it's all over the TV and Radio for weeks. These people don't understand what America's all about. America is about freedom, the expression of ideas, and keeping our politics relatively civil is a key facet of that. Once we start calling on vigilantes to settle ideological scores, we're acting against everything that our nation stands for. - aliengoods, on 04/25/2008, -14/+65You'd feel uncomfortable?! Listen to his actual comments and you will see that he is not calling on Operation Chaos operatives to riot, he's stating a hypothetical. He's presenting the premise that this Obama and Hillary war is tearing the democrat party at the seams, and if this were to climax in a riot at the convention then the republican party would benefit greatly.
He is not calling for a riot, he is saying how great it would be if Dems rioted because of this Obama/Hillary feud. - tillerman00, on 04/25/2008, -7/+28I wouldn't call it civil disobedience. - johnhummel, on 04/25/2008, -7/+27Yeah - like those racist comments on how "rich white people rule America" - dang, that was so racist I nearly puked. Everyone can see looking at our Congress, Courts, Presidents, 99% of the mayors that white people don't rule America.
Oh, wait - that's right, he was actually speaking the truth there?
OK, how about "AIDS was created to kill black people" - I can't imagine why he'd think that. It's not like Native Americans hadn't been given smallpox infected blankets/clothing to kill them off. Or that experiments were done with black men and syphilis just to see what would happen - I mean, why would any black person at seeing the African American population allowed to suffer under the Reagen administration think that there was a shot the disease was being used to remove undesirables? Like it had never happened in history before - how dare he?
No, wait - it was the "God damn America" bit that was racist after complaining that black people composed the majority of prisoners, that the American government policy of treating the poor and the sick was against the word of God so America would be damned for it. Hey - there has *never* been a preacher who said that the US would be damned for, say, allowing gay people to exist. Or that a majority African American city would be damned by a hurricane because a parade was going to be held there - surely if some white person said that it would be considered racist and pretty ***** evil, right?
Oh, sorry, I forgot - Wright got blasted because he decided to complain about policy, complain how black people were treated, and point out where that came from. Sorry - I forgot that mentioning we have race and class problems is itself racist. - MacEnvy, on 04/25/2008, -11/+28http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fascism:
"Various scholars attribute different characteristics to fascism, but the following elements are usually seen as its integral parts: patriotism, nationalism, statism, militarism, totalitarianism, anti-communism, corporatism, populism, collectivism, autocracy and opposition to political and economic liberalism."
Perhaps you should have looked it up yourself before posting. That's Rush in a nutshell (emphasis on "nut"). - mrsammercer, on 04/25/2008, -9/+26Oops, the original poster missed that Limbaugh interrupted her quite a bit and then went on a douchebag rant. Thanks for clarifying.
- MoClippa, on 04/25/2008, -0/+17Well he does have a point. If Hilary picks up the nomination due to super/pledged delegates switching sides, and if Obama clearly won the popular vote (as is mathematically the case now), then that could spell the end for the Democratic party as we know it in its current incarnation. Dem's across the board would riot, protest and refuse to vote. This happened in '68 when all the delegates (it was a different system then), refused the clear popular front runner, McGovern, and gave the party nomination to Humphry, a man who did not win a single primary. The party caved then, and had to restructure its voting scheme to the one we had today, and if something similar to that happens in this race, the party will either collapse or have to restructure... and in that case, the Republicans will get another 8 years.

RUSH: To Atlanta, where it's going to hit 80 degrees today finally. Here is Lisa, nice to have you on the EIB Network. Hello.
CALLER: Hi, Rush. I'm calling because I wanted to get some clarification on a comment that you made yesterday at the end of the first hour.
RUSH: Yes, ma'am.
CALLER: You made the comment, um, I think one of the call -- your callers that called in, you were saying that you were hoping for riots if the Democrats choose Hillary over Obama, and you even kind of sang your statement to the tune of I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas, or did you mean a white country?
RUSH: Oh, ho-ho-ho-ho-ho! (laughing)
CALLER: What -- what exactly did you mean by those statements yesterday?
RUSH: (laughing) Yeah.
CALLER: Because I feel like all Americans, the American people want is what's best for this country.
RUSH: No, they don't.
CALLER: Why do you have to be such a hate-filled comment from you --
RUSH: Oh, now, Lisa?

RUSH: Lisa, there's nothing but love for people, care and concern for people.
CALLER: It didn't sound that way yesterday, Rush.
RUSH: Well, picking a selective moment. How often do you listen to the program, Lisa?
CALLER: I listened almost every day.
RUSH: You do?
CALLER: Yes, I do. So I was a bit surprised and must say shocked that you were so blatant with that comment, and you even sang it. I was like, "My goodness!"
RUSH: I've made the comment before.
CALLER: Who wishes for riots? Who would want that to happen in this country?
RUSH: Who wishes for riots? I didn't get the ball rolling. It is Democrats like Al Sharpton who have warned that there will be!
CALLER: Rush?
RUSH: Lisa?
CALLER: (laughs)
RUSH: You need to be calling Reverend Sharpton and some of these other people who are saying if they don't get --
CALLER: No, I don't need to be calling Reverend Sharpton. I'm calling the gentlemen who made the comment yesterday and sang to the tune of I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas. What -- what -- what was that about, Rush?
RUSH: It was about nothing. You are taking --
CALLER: Rush, you're an intelligent man. I don't think anything --
RUSH: Lisa?
CALLER: -- you do is about nothing.
RUSH: Lisa?
CALLER: Everything you say and do on your radio show has a purpose and has a meaning.
RUSH: Yeah, but you know what?
CALLER: I've been listening long enough --
RUSH: Lisa?
CALLER: -- to pick up on that, Rush.
RUSH: What's happening here is that your own racism and your own projection of racism is forcing you to conclude something
CALLER: I have never wished for riots in this country.
RUSH: You are reading my mind. You are proving --
CALLER: All I want is the best for the American people.
RUSH: -- that between the two of us, you --
CALLER: I'm tired of four-dollar gas prices.
RUSH: -- are the racist.
CALLER: I'm tired of truck drivers not being able to get to deliver goods. I'm tired of people getting kicked out of their homes. I'm tired. I just want what's best for this country for everybody: white, black, Chinese, whatever --
RUSH: So do I, and that is why --
CALLER: -- and I have never --
RUSH: So do I.
CALLER: -- wish for riots.
RUSH: So do I. So do I. See, there you go: "everybody: white, blacks..." I see Americans; you see colors and races.
CALLER: No. I didn't say I wished for white -- was it White Christmas or white country, Rush? Which one?
RUSH: (laughing)
CALLER: (laughing)
RUSH: Lisa?
CALLER: I wish you would play those comments back and let your listeners hear that again.
RUSH: No, I'm not going to. I'll sing it again.
CALLER: I know you --
RUSH: (singing) "I'm dreaming of a ri-ots." Are you happy now?
CALLER: (silence)
RUSH: Now, what's in my mind when I'm doing that? You tell me, mind reader.
CALLER: I hope your listeners --
RUSH: (singing) "I'm dreaming of a riot." You tell me.
CALLER: Think about what you want to teach your children, listeners out there.
RUSH: Tell me what's in my mind!
CALLER: Why are you listening and following behind someone who's -- who's acting like this and singing like this? Is this really how you want to raise our children.
RUSH: You said you wanted to hear it again. I'm being a nice guy! You said play it back. I don't need to play it back. I can sing it again. Yesterday I didn't have the melody right. That's why I gave up on it.
CALLER: It's like you -- you -- you revel in the division of this country.
RUSH: What is in your mind, Lisa?
CALLER: Republican, Democrat, we -- Americans, we need to do away with both parties and just really start from scratch and think about what's best with this country.
RUSH: No. Nope. You know what we need to do away with?
CALLER: And all that would do is put Rush out of business, with his hate-filled discussions everyday for three or four hours a day.
RUSH: There's no hate on this program. We need to put liberals out of business, Lisa. We need to put mush-minds like you out of business, people who walk around --
CALLER: Why am I a mush-mind?
RUSH: -- prejudiced and biased.
CALLER: Rush, why are you resorting to name-calling, sir?
RUSH: You have been nothing but mean-spirited on this program --
CALLER: (laughing)
RUSH: -- and you think that's what I am? You are the --
CALLER: Rush?
RUSH: You want the gas prices to come down.
CALLER: All I'm doing is asking for clarification on your comments.
RUSH: Can I talk to you --
CALLER: -- for clarification on your comment.
RUSH: Can I talk to you about gas prices for a minute, Lisa?
CALLER: Can I get clarifications?
RUSH: No.
CALLER: What did you mean yesterday when you made those comments? That's what my call is about.
RUSH: You have moved on from that, and I've answered that -- and I've even sung the tune for you again. You already know what it was about because you're a mind reader! You've already told my audience and me that it was I'm dreaming of a "white country." Do you realize how ridiculous, offensive, and racist that is for you to say --
CALLER: You said you were wishing for riots.
RUSH: -- especially if you claim to listen to this program?
CALLER: And you said I hope they burn their cars or something to that effect.
RUSH: Well --
CALLER: Didn't you say that, or --
RUSH: Well, for somebody who claims to listen --
CALLER: -- something to the effect of, I hope their burn their cars -- (crosstalk)
RUSH: Take her down! Somebody that listens to this program every day, you have proved that you don't. You have called here to filibuster, and you are part of an effort. Folks, how many calls like this have you had today, Snerdley? Three or four. These seminar callers are out on this topic today. I said, "Give me the best one," which obviously he gave me a woman who doesn't want to talk. Now, let's talk about gas prices. She said about the gas prices; she wants gas prices back down to four bucks. So do the Republicans. "House Republican leaders on Tuesday challenged Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) to release a plan to lower gas prices that they say Democrats touted when they were in the minority. 'Two years ago this week, you stated that House Democrats had a "commonsense plan" to "lower gas prices,"' the letter said. 'In light of the skyrocketing gasoline prices affecting working families and every sector of our ... economy, we are writing today to respectfully request that you reveal this "commonsense plan" so we can begin work on responsible solutions to help ease this strain.'" Republicans are getting some gonads lately. Call Al Sharpton, Lisa. He's the one that established the whole concept of trouble brewing in Denver if he didn't get his way.
BREAK TRANSCRIPT
RUSH: I can't tell you the number of people who have called me over the course of the recent past, months or so, and she said, "Rush, I'm thinking about Obama. If Obama wins, doesn't that mean that there's no more racism in America? Doesn't that mean it's over?" Oh, no! Just the opposite. You have to understand that racial discrimination is a business in this country to people like the Reverend Sharpton and the Reverend Jackson, and any criticism of a black president is going to be said to be racist!
You can count on it, folks. If you heard that call -- if you didn't, if you're just joining us; we had a call from a woman named Lisa in Atlanta who was tarring me as a racist when she was the actual racist, because of my desire to see the Democrat convention break down exactly as it did in 1968 in Chicago with Democrats beating up on Democrats in the streets. Mayor Daley's cops, his thugs went out there and were attacking Democrats, and the SDS was there and all the anti-war crowd -- the Jerry Rubins and the Tom Haydens -- they were starting fires and so forth, and the Democrats sent Mayor Daley's thugs out there to beat 'em upside the head! There have been countless commentators and columnists and pundits throughout the Drive-By Media, lamenting the fact that if the superdelegates don't give this nomination to Obama that they're going to have to a repeat of '68 in Chicago. Now, what the hell was that? What happened in '68 in Chicago? We all know it.
You also heard with that call an attempt, just like is being attempted in North Carolina with their ad using Jeremiah Wright, the Obama faction and the Drive-By Media faction doing everything they can to stop any criticism whatsoever of Obama on the basis that it's racist -- and they're going to level the charge of racism at any critic in an attempt to intimidate and silence the critic. I will not be. I will not be silenced; I'm not going to be intimidated by this. This radio program is the Straight Talk Express, and it is quite possible -- and I don't say this with any ego, but based on what we're hearing from the RNC and the McCain camp; it's quite possible that the real presidential campaign will happen on this program and the campaign for president that's been run by the candidates is going to be all this flowery lingo that doesn't amount to anything, the so-called serious and civic debate on these so-called issues that we face. But in case anybody thinks I'm just making all this up out of thin air, let's go back to March 6th this year. The National Action Network president, the Reverend Al Sharpton was on The O'Reilly Factor, and O'Reilly said, "Barack Obama's got more popular, more elected delegates. Come convention time, he's denied it because of the deals and the superdelegates. What do you do, Sharpton? You take to the streets? What do you do?"
SHARPTON: If he is denied the selection of the nominee by superdelegates --
O'REILLY: Right.
SHARPTON: -- making backroom deals, not the by the voters? well, you not only would see people like me demonstrating, you may see us talking about whether or not we can support that ticket.
RUSH: Okay, what does demonstrating mean? The Reverend Sharpton is the one who put this notion out there. This was not the first time. I think when he said it somewhere, O'Reilly -- who has guests on his show -- went out and got Sharpton to repeat this on his show, and therefore the Reverend Sharpton put it out there. I'm just trying to encourage Reverend Sharpton. Now, Reverend Sharpton, I know that you have agents that listen to this program, And I want to remind you of something, sir. You said that if Obama is denied the selection of the nominee by superdelegates making backroom deals, not by the voters, well you not only -- Reverend Sharpton, you better prepare yourself because that's exactly what's going to happen. Whoever wins this is going to be picked by the superdelegates and the way this thing is shaping up the voters are not going to have had anything to do with it. Neither one of your candidates, Reverend Sharpton, can win this nomination via the voters. It's just that simple.
I don't know how this is going to end up; I don't know who's going to have the advantage in the popular vote. When you start divvying up electoral votes in these states in the primaries, Hillary is going to own that because Obama's has lost seven of the ten most populous states. You Democrats had better come to grips with something: The supers are the ones that are going to pick your nominee. The voters will not, and the superdelegates are actually -- as somebody in a German newspaper said; I have the analysis here somewhere. The equivalent of murder is going to be committed by the superdelegates. He's saying it. The equivalent of they're going to murder somebody, and they're going to murder somebody's supporters here because the Democratic process will not have been a factor once the Democrats choose a nominee. Sharpton said it here. "If he's denied the selection by superdelegates making backroom deals, not by the voters, well, you not only see people like my demonstrating..." I, El Rushbo, rest my case.
Now, I want to remind you one more time: These superdelegates, they got a lot of things to think about. It's not just who they think could best win the election. That clearly is a factor, but who are these supers? Well, they're elected themselves. They are grand pooh-bahs. Federal, state, local level. These are big-time elected Democrats. Some of them are union delegates. Their fortunes are goi - Spars, on 04/25/2008, -1/+17If you're going to post a "transcript" then post the whole thing or link. Get the full context-good or bad.

- Gerz1219, on 04/25/2008, -7/+20You know, most people who supported Franco and Mussolini were not vampires baptized in the blood of orphans. They were the same frustrated political extremists that exist in every society, and they were given an outlet. Rush Limbaugh is eternally frustrated because post-WWII American society does not provide him with a suitable outlet for his aggressions. He still possesses the same authoritarian personality type, he just has to support candidates forced into more moderate positions by the vagaries of liberal democracy. Don't think for a second that he and his dittoheads wouldn't revel in a fascist revolution every bit as severe as the ones experienced in Spain and Italy, if such an opportunity presented itself. They just wouldn't call it "fascism."

Rioting during the DNC is just ***** stupid. It's also a sad indicator of the level of civility in American Politics. Doing ANYTHING to upset that is a horrible, horrible show of ignorance and disrespect to the nation.

- ElRaval, on 04/25/2008, -22/+33OMG. Grain of salt? Rush Limbaugh is smug, often obnoxious, etc. But he also has a satirical manner, and he's playing a character. Even if he's "calling for riots", he's not really calling for riots. It's just a swipe at the American Left, which he still sees as being the 1968 (riot prone) Left of his youth. It's not like he has any sway over the people he's supposedly calling on to to riot. Creepier than anything he could say is Leftist people responding by wanting to toss out the First Amendment.
- ScienceDoc, on 04/25/2008, -22/+33Rush is a piece of crap. It is time to boycott any channel that carries him as well as his sponsors.
