- Ghiren, on 01/25/2008, -7/+148So if the Department of Homeland Security is the Ministry of Peace, and Guantanamo Bay is the Ministry of Love, would this then be the Ministry of Truth? I guess that when News Corp. stock tanks, the government can just buy Fox News outright since it performs essentially the same function.
- toomanymirrors, on 01/25/2008, -1/+72Just another massive federal bureaucracy from the party of small government.
- reeder, on 01/25/2008, -3/+72***** you Rumsfeld.
- pintomp3, on 01/25/2008, -4/+48fox news, cnn, and msnbc aren't enough? the corporate media are nothing but propaganda outlets.
- arw371, on 01/25/2008, -2/+37From the article:
"In Rumsfeld's view, the free press can co-exist with government sponsored/produced/paid news. "It doesn't mean we have to infringe on the role of the free press, they can go do what they do, and that's fine," says Rumsfeld. "Well, it's not fine, but it's what it is, let's put it that way." "
Terrifying. - nonsequitor, on 01/25/2008, -5/+39We already have one. Voice of America, a radio station and video content distributor is based in Washington, DC. You need a security clearance to work in the building. It's been distributing our propaganda to foreign news sources for decades.
My Ex used to work there, look it up. - phantom73, on 01/25/2008, -3/+34Lets all sing together - "if you're creepy and you know it clap your hands"

"Nazi Punks.. ***** offfff" - elpresidente408, on 01/25/2008, -4/+29Having just read The End of America, this is actually kinda scary
- borez, on 01/25/2008, -1/+21How about a department of 'Actually telling people the truth'
...for once - inactive, on 01/25/2008, -3/+21Not even leveraging 100 billion a year in this brainwashing comissariat will allow the old guard neofascist ***** in the US to redeem the genocidal blunders and war crimes they committed under Bush. The US needs to clean house FAST and tear open the sewer. People who actively supported this *****, including propagandist bastards such as O Reily and half those Goebbelites at Fix need to be indited and locked away for a while.
And I faintly recall the US still has a death penalty for treason. Show the world you still have a real justice system and hang a few of the governing neocons early 2009. Dubya will do nice crying and whining like a brat when dragged in front of a firing squad. And Guillotines, please don't forget Guillotines. - inactive, on 01/25/2008, -1/+19Don't forget that Rumsfeld, when he headed Searle, successfully politically pressured the FDA to allow a known, proven neurotoxin to be used in food. So for profit, he set up a slow poisoning of people in the US. I'm referring to Aspartame, a proven nerve poison. It converts to formaldehyde (used to embalm corpses) and methyl alcohol (which causes blindness). And it is used in the majority of no-cal diet sodas. It's so bad, the Air Force does not allow pilots to drink soda with the stuff because it affects eyesight.
Rumsfeld is the perfect man to head a propaganda agency, because he has no ethics and will fsck you over for a dollar. - claphands22, on 01/25/2008, -7/+25Why do you think Collin Powell is a liar? I thought he quit because he didn't want to be a liar.
- an0n1m0us, on 01/25/2008, -1/+16This guy is more of a threat to the 'free' world than any handful of Jong Il, Hussein, Bin Laden, Castro, Ahmadinejihad ... combined.
- michaelbeckham, on 01/25/2008, -2/+17"pods are there". WTF are pods? A new vehicle perhaps?
;) - inactive, on 01/25/2008, -11/+25Well, he was their number 3 liar (after Bush and Powell respectively).
- Godlike, on 01/25/2008, -2/+16Chilling.
- SoyJames, on 01/25/2008, -7/+21I'll give him the seed money if he personally opens the first office in Germany.
- dupswapdrop, on 01/25/2008, -2/+15I think rummy's saying he needs a job. Maybe rummy and Baghdad bob can team up and do a show?
- insertcleverid, on 01/25/2008, -5/+18Powell beats Rummy and VPDickC? I got him at 6th behind Tony Snow and Condi Rice.
- TheBSG, on 01/25/2008, -2/+14Pods and tubes and dump trucks.
- blackmage439, on 01/25/2008, -3/+15Heh, yeah that's exactly the truth. Kiz is a little short on Truth this morning... Colin had the guts to leave before he became part of this current disaster. Unfortunately, just being in Bush's cabinet for that short amount of time has tarnished his reputation. (Note: Although Colin was appointed by Bush, he often opposed the Administration, such as with invading Iraq, which he went along with unwillingly. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colin_Powell)
If Powell were running for Prez instead of Obama, you bet he would get my vote. - banzai26, on 01/25/2008, -2/+14Don't forget the horse he rode in on....
- inactive, on 01/25/2008, -1/+13***** this anti American sack of *****!
- darny, on 01/25/2008, -2/+12"We need someone in the United States government, some entity..."
to spam the ***** out of everyone. - moletimer, on 01/25/2008, -2/+13'Big Brother is watching you.'
- Waiting2awake, on 01/25/2008, -1/+10Well, do we really need to go through his " mobile weapons labs and they knew exactly where they were" testimony again? Or how about the "this much Anthrax" stuff...... Hey, speaking of Anthrax...WTF happened to THAT issue?
Everyone just forgot? - lex0nyc, on 01/25/2008, -1/+10He's like the Rupert Murdoch of fascism.
- LazyLiberal, on 01/25/2008, -3/+12Awesome book, shared the ***** out of me.
- Ne007, on 01/25/2008, -1/+10Does Donnie realize that people go to the internet TO GET AWAY FROM PROPAGANDA?
The internet is CHOICE! Once people see information devoid of propaganda they are awakened and amazed to see the real world of sense and logic. They see that big-news IS government propaganda with all it's inconsistencies, bias and agenda. Big-money news gets me sick with this. - OrlyonokEaglet, on 01/25/2008, -1/+10Giuliani has been talking about something like this in his campaign.
- elamr, on 01/25/2008, -2/+11its amazing this guy isn't in front of a tribunal.
- BeefBaron, on 01/25/2008, -3/+11I wish the US would kick its superiority complex and stop shovelling their ***** down everyone elses throats.
- hydroplane, on 01/25/2008, -4/+12Oceania has always been at war with Eurasia.
- mtjohnson, on 01/25/2008, -1/+9WMDs, turning the corner, insurgency in its last throes, brownie doing a heckuva job.
Nope, we definitely shouldn't assume they'd lie to us. - boer, on 01/25/2008, -2/+10Hitler would have loved this guy
- warlokaz2004, on 01/25/2008, -0/+8That can't be right -- 13F is the FISTers...they direct Artillery Fire in battle from behind enemy lines. All the 13 series is Field Artillery.
- Barmat, on 01/25/2008, -6/+14When I was in the Army I was a 13F. 13F is Psychological Operations Specialist for all you non military. My secondary field was Propaganda Development and Dissemination. Most lay people have no Idea what BS the government has been and will be feeding them. Unless the minority of people that have a clue fight against criminals like Rumsfeild this country is lost. Without the rules and laws we followed in my unit we would have gotten into some nasty *****.
- idontlikeyou2, on 01/25/2008, -0/+837F is Psychological Operations Specialist. !!
- Ne007, on 01/25/2008, -1/+8I'm sorry but you are seeing this as black and white.
There is the kind of news that is purposefully omitted by "mainstream" media. There is news that is purposefully smeared by "mainstream" media. There is non-news that is included for an agenda by "mainstream" media.
You are missing the whole point. Propaganda is purposefully misinforming of the American people for an agenda. We deserve the truth, especially when it puts soldiers at risk.
When you know something is a fact and that is not portrayed in news stories by the "mainstream" media, you know that it is purposeful misinformation and it is upsetting. - theghoul, on 01/25/2008, -2/+9"In Soviet US, media owns..."
- eosp, on 01/25/2008, -0/+7And they're banned from broadcasting (directly) in the United States.
- oldhick, on 01/25/2008, -4/+11To be honest, propaganda (or communication) is an important aspect of any organization. While we joke about it, we're all guilty of it ourselves on Digg. My biggest problem with this is yet another Federal government agency... What the hell happened to conservatives and smaller government?
- FecalHurler, on 01/25/2008, -1/+8Man, do you remember when Republicans advocated LESS government intervention, and LESS spending? I can't understand why ANYONE would approve of this administration's policies...
- banzai26, on 01/25/2008, -5/+12So our government should lie to us, you just don't want to pay for it?? You are what is wrong with this country....
- dondara, on 01/25/2008, -2/+9Oh right, US is the shining beacon of freedom. Wake up and smell the ***** they been feeding you since birth. You are free as long as you stay in line and do what you are told. In return you can have a SUV that wastes gas, a house you can't afford and all the beer you can drink. Just make sure you have some kids so they can send them off somewhere to help them rob other countries because they sure aren't going to send theirs.
- altgeeky1, on 01/25/2008, -2/+9The truth is pretty simple: either the White House fed Powell lies and marched him in front of the UN as someone 'trustworthy', or he knew better and gave his speech anyways.
Personally, I like Powell and I believe Bush/Cheney shafted Powell... as in he wasn't part of the conspiracy to mislead the public. Either way, Powell's credibility was ruined and his political career is finished.
Powell resonated with a lot of mainstream voters, AND he had interest in running for president as a Republican and THAT is why the neocons marched him on the plank! - CrazedLeper, on 01/25/2008, -1/+8Powell did as he was told and said what was on the 'prompter. There is no way bush "accidentally" went to war with the same guy his daddy failed to kill 10 years earlier. How much more obvious does it need to be?
- bkibbey, on 01/25/2008, -3/+9Lets raise this message loud and clear so this nut is exposed as the future fuhrer of america that he wants to be.
- aliengoods, on 01/25/2008, -1/+7You've forgotten FEMA, or the Ministry of Plenty. (Of course we helped hurricane victims!)
