- jerryparid, on 10/10/2007, -14/+138I say we sign a petition asking Rudy Giuliani to give that money to 911 workers suffering from chronic respiratory disease.
- captainpete, on 10/10/2007, -19/+95I personally believe people will vote for him because like such as the Iraq and South Africa.
- izzybr, on 10/10/2007, -26/+61You all realize that Giuliani would've been paid for public appearances regardless of 911 right?
- NightVortez, on 10/10/2007, -5/+39True but then again 1/5 of this country can't even locate the US on a map.
If this guy makes it, it'll just end up Giuliani vs Hillery, meaning we are screwed no matter what. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -44/+74that fascist war monger has no chance to win
70% of Americans are against the war
the only republican that has a chance is an anti war Ron Paul - DutchOven, on 10/10/2007, -1/+24Except that the people out there in our nation don't have maps and thus will not be able to find their polling places.
- captainpete, on 10/10/2007, -4/+26At this point, 70% seems like a low number
- ArchieAndrews, on 10/10/2007, -0/+18I wish to vote for you for the least understood yet funniest comment I have seen in a few weeks. Bully! I would also like to subscribe to your newsletter.
- mexicanman07, on 10/10/2007, -1/+17holy ***** i see a pattern here
- schwit, on 10/10/2007, -6/+21I take it that others such as Bill Clinton, Bob Dole and John Edwards make appearances for free?
- W3Coyote, on 10/10/2007, -4/+18Giuliani would have been long forgotten if it weren't for 9/11.
- PixelVision, on 10/10/2007, -3/+151/5th of the country can't afford a map you insensitive clod!
- Frozo, on 10/10/2007, -8/+19Dig me down if you must, but where does it say that these were 911 specific speaking engagements?? I honestly want someone to explain this, leaving no doubt. Otherwise this submission is blatant propaganda.
- captainpete, on 10/10/2007, -0/+11I'm sorry, I just assumed everyone in the world had already seen the video. Come on, it's been on the internet for like 5 days!
http://youtube.com/watch?v=WALIARHHLII - Bossy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10For those of you who are like wtf after reading Captainpete's comment: http://digg.com/videos/comedy/Jimmy_Kimmel_Explains_what_Miss_Teen_said
- posure, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10I'm not a fan of Giuliani or anything, but I know that at least one of those companies (which I used to be employed by) didn't have him as a speaker to "talk about 9/11" so I don't think its fair to say that he made $9.2mil off of 9/11.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+11"Rudy Giuliani has made $9.2 million off the September 11, 2001 tragedy"
Wow! That's almost as much as John Edwards made off of Katrina foreclosures! - TheLoneBlogger, on 10/10/2007, -4/+13A good point mirunit - Clinton makes a lot of money for his engagements as well - seeing as how we live in a free market society, the general opinion of society is that it is a desirable event having them speak, otherwise the would not be paid, let alone paid well, to do it...
- Matthew720, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9Kobewan is a shill.
- wookiecontrol, on 10/10/2007, -14/+22I am not a big Guiliani fan, but this headline is a little inflammatory. He is just a dynamic speaker who is speaking about an experience.
- parasitewasp, on 10/10/2007, -7/+14Why isn't Rudy Giuliani allowed to get paid to speak in public? I know he doesn't say what you want him to, so he's not allowed.
Haters!!! - thatsmyaibo, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7People on digg might not agree with your statement, but it is very true and I think you are absolutely correct.
- catullus13, on 10/10/2007, -18/+25More blood money for Ghouliani. Why the wingnuts consider him to be some kind of hero is mystifying.
- geekee, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7jdh24 is a retard, along with the rest of you partisan hacks.
I'm sure Lexus Southern Area Dealers asked him to speak about 9/11 - ZenFountain, on 10/10/2007, -2/+9Watch the film Giuliani Time if you'd like a little preview of what a Giuliani presidency would be like. I'll never get over how he insulted that disabled man with Parkinson's disease who worked hard and paid taxes for 25 years, then was basically thrown out into the streets because he got a disease anyone could get. What a disgusting excuse of a person Giuliani is, on top of the way he has exploited 9/11 to rejuvenate his failed political life.
- Matthew720, on 10/10/2007, -3/+10You make fun of people who can't spell, but you can't punctuate your sentence properly? How dare you?
- JrMint, on 10/10/2007, -7/+14Rudy Giuliani's Current Status in the Polls ~ 35%
Ron Paul's Current Status in the Polls ~ 2%
Idealism is nice but reality usually wins... - Matthew720, on 10/10/2007, -3/+10Rudy is a hypocrite the same way Larry Craig and Ted Haggard are hypocrites. While homosexuality is perfectly fine AND talking about 9/11 and your experiences during and after the tragedy is perfectly fine, capitalizing on both of these issues while PRETENDING to be the OPPOSITE is NOT fine. Ted Haggard spread hate speech about gays. Larry Craig did the same and sought to pass anti-gay laws. They BOTH turned out to be gay. Rudy did NOTHING to protect the city from terrorism. He refused to put the emergency command center in Brooklyn - as advised by the police chief - and instead insisted on putting it in the WTC. He also failed to provide the NYFD and the NYPD with the funds needed to upgrade their communications systems, the same communications systems that caused the death of quite a few firefighters when they didn't hear the call on the radio to evacuate the tower on 9/11. But, Rudy goes on TV and claims to be some HERO. I did this and I did that....blah blah blah. He's a hack and a terrible one at that.
- TroubleInMind, on 10/10/2007, -12/+18Does Al Gore have to give all his speaking fees to global warming victims?
- JrMint, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6So that's what this reply button does. I can add a comment to a thread it's relevancy depends on, neat!
- manicallday, on 10/10/2007, -6/+12As much as I hate to admit it, he will probably win.
Here's why
1. He's a white male.
2. He's good at simple speech
3. He was given the credit of cleaning up NY
It's like digg. If you want votes you have to appeal to the general public which are the breeders in the red states. Saying anything intelligent will just get twisted. - bobtcat, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8My, you're an idiot.
- getrealnow, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Its the new internet fad, where have you been the last week!
- W3Coyote, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8Seems like everyone's forgotten how horrible Giuliani's approval rating was in New York prior to 9/11....
- NikoKun, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8what's scary to me... -_- is that my relatives support this *****... good god... if this nut was president... Things would be WORSE than they are with Bush...
- BlacklabelSAR, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Guliani vs Clinton is both likely, and my worst nightmare. 2 sides of the same coin. Stop taking either of those 2 sides and start taking your own side as a supposedly free american citizen. Our government is broken and is NOT by and for the people. Don't get played by the distractions and side-taking.
Now everyone go ***** yourselves for being so stupid. I can barely tolerate you pathetic humans ;) - wonderboy, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7wrong: http://www.pollingreport.com/wh08rep.htm
Not to mention all of the straw polls Ron Paul has done well in. - TroubleInMind, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5I've never heard of that poll. But if you want to go through the latest from every legitimate poll you can imagine, try here:
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2008/president/us/republican_presidential_nomination-192.html
And straw polls are meaningless. Do you even know what that is? A non-binding popularity contest where it's okay to bribe voters. Sheesh.
Ron Paul may be smart, and clever, and have the solution for every problem. He may in fact be the very best man in this country to become president. But it cannot happen, it will not happen, it is completely impossible. And Ron Paul fanboys will cast their meaningless votes and join the ranks of the irrelevant along with those who voted for Ralph Nader, Ross Perot, and John Anderson. - monkeythumpa, on 10/10/2007, -6/+11C'mon, he was in the right place at the right time and learned things people want to pay to hear. That is like saying that doctors should give their salary to cancer research.
- Matthew720, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6I'll sign. Where's the petition?
- emjaymj, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6Huckabee also said on the Colbert Report that out of the rest of the "2nd tier candidates" (bs marginalizing FUD), he thinks Ron Paul has the best chance.
- Bilabrin, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Oh, man, I'm feeling your pain on that one!
- BlacklabelSAR, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5If aware people can spawn from ignraont people, then there IS hope after-all. Stay strong and keep your mind nimble. That is the real war, on your ability to reason.
- atheinostic, on 10/10/2007, -3/+7I heard Ron Paul has a "secret plan" to end the war!
- tehpwnrate, on 10/10/2007, -6/+10Exactly. I don't like him politically, but this headline is sensationalist and not true. What if I said that Obama has made $xx million off the Iraq tragedy by speaking against it at his fundraisers? The issue here is how companies get themselves in the pockets of all our politicians. Buried.
- Obscenewords, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Great suggestion since he has abused the memories of the dead for political currency. Being from Queens I once admired Giuliani when he took on Gotti and all organized crime in NY. He is not the same man that quickly rose from D.A. to Mayor of NYC in a very short period of time. It's been sad for me to see him reduced to a homogenized brainwashed public servant sellout. I wish he would remember his roots and take on the criminals in Washington.
- thatsmyaibo, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5Actually, I still don't think Americans will vote a woman into office to a majority decision. I don;t agree with the thought of that, but bottom line it will affect things.
babtcat, you need to realize that a lot of this country doesn't think like most diggers and if Guiliani did go against Hilary, I think he would probably win. - tehpwnrate, on 10/10/2007, -7/+11Yes.. he gives it to charities.
- 4getaboutit, on 10/10/2007, -5/+9I hate to admit it but I work in a law/accounting firm who are mostly Rep. and they recently did a fund raiser and got their pictures taken with Giuliani which probably raised a few thousands for him . Made me feel ridiculous to work there so I quit my job....
- stealthc, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Wow. The "insensitive clod" quip. Haven't seen that one since I quit reading Slashdot. Keep the cliche alive!
