Rather than say the boilerplate, "We'll do a thorough investigation and I give the family my prayers..." he said that the reason that Louima ran (a claim that was later proved untrue) is because he's an illegal immigrant! You'd like to give him the benefit of the doubt, but then he made sure you knew where he stood when he called the resulting obvious protest "their silly little protest".
There's actually a lot to admire about Rudy. Taking on organized crime. Getting the homeless off of the street. Saving money by keeping cop cars white instead of the blue they used to be before him was a very smart and logical move. Reducing crime the way he did was amazing. However, God forbid you're in the way of what he wants to get done. Or even worse, "collateral damage". He has a history of being dictatorial. Great when he's acting like a bull dog and getting done what you want done. WHERE are the black boxes from the towers? They could easily have withstood the low heat of the jet-fuel fires, just as could the towers' superstructures. -
