http://realestate.theemiratesnetwork.com/developments/dubai/palm_islands/palm_trump_hotel_tower.php - swrostmore, on 10/10/2007, -3/+10"Earlier this month, Karl Rove failed to comply with the Judiciary Committee's subpoena to testify about the mass firings of United States Attorneys. Despite evidence that he played a central role in these firings, just as he did in the Libby case involving the outing of an undercover CIA agent, and improper political briefings at over 20 government agencies, Mr. Rove acted as if he was above the law. The list of senior White House and Justice Department officials who have resigned during the course of these congressional investigations continues to grow, and today, Mr. Rove added his name to that list. There is a cloud over this White House, and a gathering storm.”
Sen. Leahy, D-VT - nofrak1, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6This is a strange argument. The privilege applies to advice given to the President by an advisor. Rove was such an advisor during the events in question. If he were to somehow become involved now then that would not be covered under executive privilege.
- Herostratus, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6No, we agree... its the boss we want. And his henchmen.
- laserblazer, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Admit it - you'd like to cornhole Rove. Your attitude is identical to those who told Rice to 'stick it to' the 9/11 commission.
You'll call any righteous investigation a witch-hunt and go on with your pathetic little life. Your death would cure us of your odious sycophancy. See to it. Messily. - UglieJosh, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Majority rules? Oh, wait, that would be if we lived in a democracy... Silly me.
- swrostmore, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5I'm guessing the phrase "We the People" doesn't mean much to you.
- fernB, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5Technically we want his boss not him.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5Try ignoring a subpoena and see what happens to you.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5This is so stupid, of course he wont testify. does anyone think these criminals will ever say: yes we knew Iraq was a bad idea, we jsut really needed a relelection platform, or yes, we knew 9/11 was going to happen, but we needed something to spark the new world order, or we are spying on everyone, or we know we were never elected but ***** you guys we are incharge.....
it will never happen, phenry got the best prediction yet with a 45 at his temple.... i give it less then a month for this devil of the bunch - Waiting2awake, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3 They should be - if it wasn't for the usual brain dead people who have swallowed this Admins lies hook, line and sinker and simply won't accept that they have no clue about life, the world and reality until EVERY idea they have has been exposed as being criminal, undemocratic, and fundamentally unwise for the continuation of a nation...
But you are too busy in trying to "win" the debate, even if the result is a lost country. - existent, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5He will just lie...

You act like your kind outnumbers us. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2o Dubai Karl is coming you all better hide the camels.
- Crad123, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2You're nothing but a troll.
- JohnnyXmas, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2BREAKING: Satan to testify in Christ's favor after retiring from ruling Hell
- existent, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2For an episode of Law Theatre, of course.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -10/+12I'll bet he'd open his fat ***** mouth with a .45 pointed at his temple.
- otheruser, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4Gah, forget the attorney scandal, the real reason Rove left is because of the Siegelman case.
Here's Harper's Scott Horton (Attorney, Lecturer at Columbia Law School) on the hardly-publicized case:
http://harpers.org/archive/2007/08/hbc-90000880 - swrostmore, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3The events in question allegedly had nothing to do with the president, so it's odd that privilege based on advice given to him is being used as an excuse.
- Waiting2awake, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1edit
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Gosh, did you come up with that..umm... no wait, did you remember that talking point all by yourself? My, what a big boy you are!
- yatoobin, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3pardon?
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Your judgment sucks. Just like Bush's. So typical of 'your kind'.
- ezstan, on 10/10/2007, -3/+4dugg up a notch because it's true.
- dagamer34, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1You can only pardon people after they've been convicted. There's no such thing as pre-trial immunity. Plus, if what Rove did had any implications on the president himself, I think there will be a constitutional showdown on who can be pardoned or not. Pardoning close advisors because of ***** you did is pathetic at best.
- toddcat, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Brycelb=politics before analysis.
- laserblazer, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Didn't Rove say something about roosters? No surprise from a man so familiar with *****. What is it with homosexuals and the Republican party? Another parallel to Nazis.
- Crad123, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1@Moin1097
You're not a real American. If you don't like checks and balances, go move to North Korea!
It's pathetic that you make everything into a partisan issue. I bet you're a fundamentalist too. - EricMiIIer, on 07/10/2009, -0/+1What? Who's wearing brown?
:: looks around :: - Crad123, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Republicans are the American version of the Nazi Brown-Shirts.
- dagamer34, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Umm... I think that even proves Dem's point even more. The president is allowed to fire attorneys and he got rid of all of them, Democrat or Republican, at the BEGINNING of his term. The stuff that happened last year caused certain attorney's to be fired for specific reasons which were NOT performance related as Gonzo boy has tried to push all year. You CANNOT fire for political reasons and that's precisely what happened last year.
- toddcat, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Again, proves, that despite Repubs hatred of Clinton (I think it's actually jealousy coz he got some), they're never above invoking his name if one of their boys does something wrong (buuu buuuuuu buuuuuuuut Clinton). That's really all the defense you guys have isn't it? A popular President who made some good decisions, some bad decisions, but on whom you Repubs only project all your failures. And again, the fact that the Cheney administration fired simply a few of these AGs and that they were for allegedly political reasons only goes to undermine the claims that each President's installation of his own AG's is wrong.
- toddcat, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1So you admit he would lie? Interesting.....
- toddcat, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1If he has no role, why is executive privilege used to practically shield the public even from knowing what toilet paper the White House uses? There's nothing so supposedly irrelevant that the Cheney administration won't offer executive privilege as a defense. Your president's actions undermine your statements.
- toddcat, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1All of a sudden a neo-con is concerned with human life. Awwwwww, that's a first (post-birth).
- toddcat, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Moin, I guess you must be referring to the 54% who want impeachment, if you really didn't know.
- Herostratus, on 10/10/2007, -3/+3YEAH!!! Make the boy sing. Otherwise its Sing-SIng. About freakin time. Hellz yeah. WOOT.
Strats - swrostmore, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2Rove isn't being summoned to testify about the war or 9/11, because he had nothing to do with those things. He's been summoned to testify about manipulating elections, because he (was) the White House political advisor.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -3/+3Exposed? WOW! I'm sure they're really scared about being "exposed".
You can take your "exposed" and shove it up your ass.
Congress issues subpoenas, they get ignored and the congress that YOU elected does nothing but whine about it. Bunch of pussies. I would ignore a subpoena from them also. - ezstan, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0My kind? You mean American? And a gun owning one at that.
You failed "your kind" dumbass. - Alegoo92, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2Technically he has no role. He can't make any decisions, he's only an advisor. If we can get arrested for what we think, diggers are in big trouble.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -3/+3Send him another worthless subpoena from a pansy-assed congress. Hellz yeah. WOOT.
- Herostratus, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2They've been exposed at least. It brings attention to the fact that there are serious problems in DC. I realize that this is hard for you to wrap your head around having been spoonfed television your entire life, but your government is not your friend, it doesn't care about you, and it's YOUR duty to keep it in check. Read the Declaration of Independance, the Bill of Rights and The Constitution looking up all those words longer then 5 letters that you cant pronounce and keep at it untill you understand all of those documents. Then start on the Federalist Papers. Then, after that, and only after that, may you come back with an opinion.
Strats - hittnrun, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Now that Rove is gone, who will be your new boogyman?
You rats always need someone to blame for your pathetic lives. Will it be Cheney again? - hittnrun, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Would you libs stop invoking the name of Clinton? You bring it up every chance you get. Just because he lied to your face while you were carrying his water doesn't have anything to do with the present administration. Get over it.
