- whatthefu, on 11/24/2007, -39/+176Ronald Reagan was not a good president.
- sanman, on 11/24/2007, -16/+150What amazing garbage floats around on Digg. Reagan invaded Lebanon, Grenada, launched covert wars in Nicaragua, El Salvador, armed fundamentalists in Afghanistan, including with Stinger anti-aircraft missiles. Reagan was responsible for the Reagan Defense Builduip and the ballooning of the federal deficit. He started the SDI program, which threatened a wider arms race with the Soviets. You know that picture of Rumsfeld shaking hands with Saddam? That happened during Reagan's time. Reagan backed the Iraqis against the Iranians. Reagan bombed Libya and attacked Iranian forces in the Gulf.
So please don't LIE and give me this crap about how Reagan was less of a foreign interventionist than Bush.
If Reagan had been in power during 9/11, he would have responded with 10 times the force. - Wronghead, on 11/24/2007, -56/+166One of the worst presidents in American history is advocating for Ron Paul and you are advertizing it? You guys may want to re-think adding this to the RP SPAM MACHINE®.
- jayfarer, on 11/24/2007, -9/+91...Is this anti-Ron Paul propaganda?
- bumb1ebee, on 11/24/2007, -17/+99Ron Paul is nothing like Reagan. Reagan was a neocon. He preached about small government, states' rights, and fiscal conservatism but ended up doing the exact opposite.
- DukeMojo, on 11/24/2007, -21/+79That was my first thought. Just because a president is/was popular doesn't make him any good. I'll never understand why people have such a hard on for Reagan.
- inactive, on 11/24/2007, -3/+57I was in the Navy during the Reagan years. Your version of history is simply revisionist. Sanman lists the details, saving me the typing. He left out the financial policies. Since you are so keen to tie RP and Reagan together, why don't you look up Reagan's fiscal policies?
- natedouglas, on 11/24/2007, -15/+68"If Reagan had been in power during 9/11, he would have responded with 10 times the force."
To be more accurate, he would have responded with the same force, forgot, then re-responded, forgot, and re-responded again. - happytimeharry, on 11/24/2007, -5/+56It was Minnesota not Michigan
- SonOfDisaster, on 11/24/2007, -3/+49WeightedCompanionCube2008!
- pintomp3, on 11/24/2007, -10/+52increased national debt, star wars, more vacation days taken than any other president until w, support for aparthied south africa, iran-contra. reagan was a horrible president.
- angorafleece, on 11/24/2007, -1/+36Wow. I never expected to see people saying "Ronald Reagan" over and over again with Godspeed playing in the background. Ever.
- orca94, on 11/24/2007, -16/+51I'd personally take Reagan's praise for Paul as a neg on him. Eff' Reagan.
- ZenMojo, on 11/24/2007, -8/+42Wow. Reagan? Are people ***** retarded or do they not realize that Reagan was a neocon and a horrible president who plunged this country into massive unemployment and poverty AFTER Carter, Ford, and Nixon already struggled with stagflation.
Oh, but Fox News tells them that Reagan was a great president so it must be true. - m0tbaillie, on 11/24/2007, -4/+32"Which is better, getting ***** in prison by a big black guy or a big Hawaiian guy?" The answer is that it doesn't ***** matter, you're still getting *****.
- Berkana, on 11/24/2007, -6/+33Folks, wake the hell up. Prior to Regan's administration, the US was the greatest creditor nation. After the Regan administration, the US was the greatest debtor nation. He was popular because he did two utterly incompatible things; he was against taxation, and for huge spending. Regan was a scourge upon this country, and popular for all the wrong reasons. The fiscal and monetary policies Ron Paul is for are entirely opposite to what Regan carried out.
(I'm a supporter of Ron Paul, but I detest Regan. Saying that Regan would have praised Ron Paul doesn't mean much for me.) - inactive, on 11/24/2007, -59/+86Reagan hails from the same school of thought as Ron Paul, most people don't realize it because they are so blinded by partisan ***** and the idea of 'loyalty' to the GOP that they've forgotten what it means to be conservative. It's no surprise that a number of Reagan staff members have come out to speak against President Bush, his war, and their idiotic agenda. Reagan = Libertarian, Bush = Fascist Pig
- natedouglas, on 11/24/2007, -12/+38Granted, I was only born in 1980, but I seem to recall people @#$%ing hating him.
At least the ones who saw through the Iran Hostage *****. - pintomp3, on 11/24/2007, -3/+29partisanship and revisionist history. reagan set the stage for a new level of partisanship with his commandment "thou shalt not speak ill of a fellow republican".
- AnotherCanadian, on 11/24/2007, -5/+31The USSR defeated itself. Reagan defeated Nicaragua by backing terrorists and bombing "soft" (read: civilian) targets
- bjornski, on 11/24/2007, -4/+28The patron saint of deficit spending, covert wars and "I don't recall"?
It just goes to show you that most Ron Paul supporters are too young to have been aware of what a DISASTER Reagan was. - nymphetamine, on 11/24/2007, -11/+35BREAKING: Pope Praises Peter Griffin; Peter Griffin is the only one for you!
- Isoptera4, on 11/24/2007, -21/+44Reagon was a traitor plain and simple. He should have been impeached for the ***** he did.
- m0tbaillie, on 11/24/2007, -4/+27Haha, dugg up for subtle comedy.
- plasticquart, on 11/24/2007, -6/+29And yet look where you are on this Friday night.

- inactive, on 11/24/2007, -0/+17►A NEOCON SAID IT HIMSELF
"When the strongest nation in the world can be tied up for ... years in a war ... with no end in sight, when the richest nation in the world can't manage its own economy, when the nation with the greatest tradition of the rule of law is plagued by unprecedented lawlessness, ... and when the President of the United States cannot travel abroad or to any major city at home without fear of a hostile demonstration - then it's time for new leadership for the United States of America."
-- Richard Nixon, 1968 - inactive, on 11/24/2007, -1/+18Ignoring AIDS
- ZenMojo, on 11/24/2007, -1/+18The USSR was dead in the 1960's held together by ***** and carpet nails. Kennedy knew it, Carter knew it. Even Nixon and LBJ knew it but wouldn't make a big deal out of it.
- RockinRoel, on 11/24/2007, -11/+26Sorry, whatthefu, I wanted to digg you up. If Reagan is recommending Ron Paul, that means you should watch out with Ron Paul. Reagan was not a good president.
- Comatose51, on 11/24/2007, -1/+15Yea and let's completely ignored the fact that Cheney, Rumsfeld, and daddy Bush were all part of the Reagan administration. If RP wants to differentiate from Bush, an endorsement from the neocon Godfather is not the way to do it.
- terracottapai, on 11/24/2007, -3/+17I love my state.
- emomakesmecry, on 11/24/2007, -0/+14Exactly what I was thinking. I doubt Efrim and the group would be pleased knowing their music is used to praise someone like Reagan.
- kronix2, on 11/24/2007, -1/+14Are you saying the US should have invaded Afghanistan with 10 times the force?
I thought the moral of the story was that military interventionism - especially a full-scale invasion to capture a single individual - was a recipe for disaster? - PeppermintPig, on 11/24/2007, -2/+15Exactly. Let's get a little perspective here!
On stage, all the other candidates laud praises for Ronald Reagan. It's clearly partisan. Ron Paul does not use Reagan as a crutch, and people who think it's good to reflect the Reagan candidacy with what Paul brings to the table are doing a disservice. Ronald Reagan learned from some of his mistakes, but he nevertheless made them. We can't afford more of the same. Ron Paul is perhaps the best Republican to ever run for president, but what makes him so good is that he looks beyond the party ***** towards constitutional action and liberty. - GeorgeClayton, on 11/24/2007, -5/+17THAT MUSIC IS SO ANNOYING! Please, if you put music in your videos, keep the volume subtle enough people can think a little (unless you're supporting someone like Hillary) & less DRAMATIC music.
That said, Ron Paul 2008!
P.S. Don't forget to register to vote NOW! Your enthusiasm counts for little if you don't vote! - hiikeeba, on 11/24/2007, -1/+13And don't forget to vote often!
- ZenMojo, on 11/24/2007, -6/+17Of course, all of those cars had the same mpg for 30 years STARTING with Reagan, so you didn't really have that much choice, now did you? :)
The only reason car companies are shouting about "Green this" and "green that" is because of the sudden massive shift in public opinion. Keep in mind that the average mpg of the car companies hasn't improved one bit and the mpg of hybrids like the prius is actually about 20 mpg less than it claims. There are better cars in Europe that will never sell here because we don't actually HAVE a free market. - cavergeek, on 11/24/2007, -2/+13Holy cow! I think I am dumber for having read that.
- AngryBacon, on 11/24/2007, -1/+12Better than Dubya
- Juice7, on 11/24/2007, -2/+13Yes, and George Bush is a better president than George Washington was. Give me a break.
- napk, on 11/24/2007, -7/+1710 bucks says the fellas from Godspeed You Black Emperor! (band who made the backing music from that vid) would definitely not endorse Ron Paul, Ronald Reagan, or the use of their intellectual property two promote either of them.
I love that the Ron Paul faithful are now trying to tie him to Reagan. This is the best presidential election EVER - itsHef, on 11/24/2007, -15/+25I'm all in favor of Ron Paul, but the lot of you must admit, in some form he's the king of Digg.
- AKBryant54, on 11/24/2007, -7/+17What a stupid comment.
Bush: Born in Connecticut, also served as a senator from there.
Paul: Born in Pennsylvania, after being drafted moved to Texas.
Furthermore, geographic location has nothing to do with political thought, and Bush is a Neo-Conservative. - BlackJackJester, on 11/24/2007, -3/+13And the voting record part to flush it out!
- slenderdog, on 11/24/2007, -0/+10Dug up for mention of raping cows and chickens--Donald Rumsfeld's favorite pastime.
- felchdonkey, on 11/24/2007, -0/+10Such as negotiating with the Iranian terrorists while the hostage crisis was going on and Carter was president - keeping the American hostages captive until Reagan could be elected. That sure sounds like giving "aid and comfort" to the enemy to me.
Or how about selling arms to Iran, illegally, in order to fund his private war in Central America - the one Congress had explicitly forbade him to engage in?
How about the drug sales that the CIA was facilitating in order to make more money for the Contras? Would that count as treason for you?
Check your history before you whine about partisanship. Being a Republican doesn't give you the right to ignore the rule of law, despite all attempts to the contrary. - SaladCactusKing, on 11/24/2007, -2/+11Talk about a totally different view on the term "Topic necromancing"
- felchdonkey, on 11/24/2007, -1/+10I was nine years old when Reagan was elected, and even I thought it was amazingly suspicious that the hostages were released literally MINUTES after Reagan took office.
There are allegations that Reagan's campaign manager (and future CIA chief) William Casey negotiated with the Iranians not to release the hostages until he won and became president. If it seemed fishy to a nine year old at the time, it blows me away that there wasn't a more serious investigation into the matter later.
After all, this is the same Reagan who was doing back door deals with Iranian terrorists to fund rebels in Nicaragua, and whose administration even helped drug traffickers bring cocaine by the boatload into the US to get more money for his illegal war in Central America.
He was no saint, not by a long shot. - AnotherCanadian, on 11/24/2007, -11/+20I'd sooner accept praise from Satan than from a war criminal like Ronald Reagan.
