- Ihatepolitics, on 10/10/2007, -6/+81The revolution is taking hold!
- Wizardtb, on 10/10/2007, -4/+58Hopefully, these straw poll wins will actually give BBC a reason to report on Ron Paul! Kudos to all the relentless supporters out there- I think Ron Paul is percieved positively in the international spotlight and might help bridge some gaps between nations. The fact that even when unknown in his own country... he has fan clubs worldwide has to show for something.
- synapz, on 10/10/2007, -8/+55Ron Paul will win.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+44I'm presuming Mitt didn't buy out the tickets and provide free transportation at this event?
- xrayecho, on 10/10/2007, -4/+44We're on a roll! Where going to try and deliver Maryland next week.
- futureteg, on 10/10/2007, -3/+35definetly, 2 huge wins in 1 day...in 2 differente demographics(NH and AL are pretty much polar opposites)
- ZeeJollyRoger, on 10/10/2007, -1/+24It is really good to see someone with a brain actually winning in the Republican party for once.
- Wizardtb, on 10/10/2007, -1/+24No, it's not the same one- it happened today, so the media won't pick up on it until tomorrow.
And what is a Ron Paul spammer? I digged this and I'm Brazilian :S - AceyS, on 10/10/2007, -3/+24I may be mistaken, but I believe he is against government funding for Stem Cell Research. Not the research itself.
- j.carcinogen, on 10/10/2007, -0/+18It was great seeing all of the Ron Paul revolution signs driving into Tuscaloosa. I was surprised by the wide age spectrum. I had great conversations with a retired engineer that worked at Cape Canaveral to a man who graduated from the same high school/class as Ron Paul. (he's gonna send me a scan from the yearbook with RP's pic and quote). Also many middle aged people. All were very intelligent (it was on a University) and I think the endorsement speech the reverend gave for RP (which was so passionate it exploded the room with applause and Ron Paul chants- I can't wait to get video of this.)
- KILLBUSH, on 10/10/2007, -5/+23Go Dr. Know!
- caboose1123, on 10/10/2007, -0/+16First time I can say I'm proud to be from Alabama in a while..
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+16I'm an aussie and I too dugg it.
There is no RP spam brigade, just a lot of people who seem sick and tired of the way their government has screwed them and their country for the past 2 decades. - nreynolds, on 10/10/2007, -0/+16he bought more votes than he got. A vote cost $35, but he also paid for buses and lunches and hookers. (well... 2 out of 3)
- Wizardtb, on 10/10/2007, -2/+18Well, from what I can see- Ron Paul supporters are just overly passionate and zealous- and extremely well connected through forums and blogs. I don't think they should be punished because they're more mobilized than gamers or techies at digging an article.
I don't think multiple accounts are at play here... just groups of people connected through forums. If you research the people who support Ron Paul- you'll find quite a few of them are very ordinary people indeed. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -3/+19Also, here is the digg story for Ron Paul's win in Alabama. He won two straw polls in one day! http://digg.com/2008_us_elections/Ron_Paul_Wins_By_Landslide_in_Alabama_Straw_Poll
- KidVicious, on 10/10/2007, -0/+15Wait, there's a poll here next week? I'll be there, voting for RP.
- jerryparid, on 10/10/2007, -1/+16He paid $35 per vote last time
- coldfact, on 10/10/2007, -1/+15As I posted in the now buried Alabama poll story...
The latest "scientific" CBS poll (http://www.cbsnews.com/htdocs/pdf/081307_gop.pdf ) which CBS used to declare that Giuliani was "maintaining his strength" (http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2007/08/13/opinion/polls/main3162457.shtml ) was based on polling 295 "Republican Primary Voters".
This poll had 283 (Alabama had 266) votes cast. Would it be "scientific" to say that Ron Paul is now the undisputed front-runner? If CBS can do it, so can we. - jam1n, on 10/10/2007, -1/+15Not only are we going to New Hampshire, Tom Harken, we are gonna go to new york, we're going to go to vermont, were going to pittsburgh in Pennsylvania, then were going to cancun for spring break, gonna go all over the world and come back to washington dc and take back the white house, BYAAAAAAHHHHH
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+14I agree. It won't be until the BBC starts reporting on him that more Americans will be moved to support Paul, because so many Republicans use the BBC as the main source for their news.
- MicroBerto, on 10/10/2007, -1/+15I wore my Ron Paul t-shirt out to the movies in LA and didn't get any funny looks. Nobody said Hi or anything either though.
What stinks is that none of the mainstream news sites mention the victories at all (cnn.com, msnbc.com, abcnews.com, foxnews.com, even drudgereport.com). Hopefully they get updated, but I'm STILL not confident in this getting their press. - mmortal03, on 10/10/2007, -4/+18He opposes the Net Neutrality ACT, which gives the government certain controls over the Internet, which Ron Paul is against. It is called that to trick people like you into supporting it.
- BESTenemy, on 10/10/2007, -2/+15These points show up in every Ron Paul thread and get debunked every time. He opposes federal funding for Stem Cell Research, not the research. He wants to be able to legalize research without the taxpayers having to pay for it. As for Net Neutrality, another out of context point. He opposes federal involvement in construciton of the network to avoid the scenarios where government provides tax-subsidized grands for broadband networks that never get built (does that ring a bell?) He believes in the ability of market to take care of demands better than the government. The government's role is not in controlliing the construciton, but in preventing abuse of rights.
- Shink, on 10/10/2007, -0/+12This isn't the FIRST NH straw poll Ron Paul has dominated. http://freestateblogs.net/node/1609
He owns the Free State. - dmgordon, on 10/10/2007, -0/+12IM IN UR REAL LIFE, SPAMMING UR STRAW POLLZ
- kelchm, on 10/10/2007, -6/+17as dumb as this comment is... I lol'd.
- asands84, on 10/10/2007, -2/+13Go Dr. No!
- asands84, on 10/10/2007, -0/+11I don't know of any RP spam brigade, either. I, for one, am just passionate about his campaign and message.
- devou33, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10You're just a complete brainwashed idiot. The country is ***** and you, along with the rest of this retarded country, believe it is fine because of the meticulous web of lies that you are obviously stuck in. The only solution to turn things around is complete change. The only candidate that will bring change in any way is Ron Paul. Stick with Guliani and see if that gets you anywhere.
- Shink, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10Dr. Paul doesn't desire the ignorant vote, so you don't matter.
- stillasleep00, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10I'll be 18 just in time to vote for RP!
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10Yea. A constitutionalist against Authoritarian Socialists. Not a chance in hell the anti-freedom Socialists will win.
- datamyte, on 10/10/2007, -3/+13Yes, it is Dr. No, due to his repeatedly voting no on any un-constitutional bills. Dr. Know does make sense - seeing he is the only candidates who knows what the hell he is talking about.
- Depthfunction, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10You do realize Romney is from Massachusetts, don't you?
- swrostmore, on 10/10/2007, -14/+24lol how many people voted in this "straw poll?" 1st place with 208 votes, wtf?
- MindStalker, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9Actually in a recent interview Paul was asked if he would go to war if there was a threat to this nation. He stated definitely but that it would require a vote of congress (something that is specifically stated in the Constitution). Now as to what he would do in case of an immidient threat where there is no time for a vote is anyones guess, but I assume he would act rationally. And it doesn't require an act of war to defend from attack.
- j.carcinogen, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9I was at the straw poll in Alabama. Trust me hardly any of those people in attendance even knew what digg was. Most were 40 years old +.
- Shink, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9Who better than a noninterventionist who'll not only vastly improve relations with many countries, but as a man who served in the Air Force for 5 years knows how important a strong defense is? Nobody. Vote for Doctor Paul.
- thecoolestguy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9***** the Democrats.
I blame the cheap political promises of both the Democrats and Republicans for the decline in American standing these last 35 years. Did you know social security obligations are now at $60 Trillion, and that the US can never hope to come to close paying for it all? All the Republican candidates except Ron Paul, and all the leading Democratic candidates don't want to deal with this. They want to tax future generations to buy votes today. - asands84, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9I disagree. I fail to see how Ron Paul supporters are any more "clueless" than any other candidate's supporters.
- doughboy334, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10HOOAH! go RP
- OsakaWilson, on 10/10/2007, -3/+11Yet buying votes and shipping in busloads of supporters does not cause the same people to question the legitimacy of a Romney win. The bias of personal interest is certainly the most powerful bias of all.
- asands84, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8The primaries don't begin for some time. This excitement has momentum.
- Shink, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8You get three guesses, and the first two don't count. DIGG IS RIGGED.
- devou33, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8The republican sheep do not support him. Any classic conservative republican that actually knows their political standpoints absolutely love this guy. But hey, whatever Gretta Van Sustren tells you, you can go ahead and believe. Enjoy Guliani.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8actually it was more than $1,000 per vote when you added up all the cost. poor Mutt Romney and his rooftop doggie.
- Shink, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9Dude, just go out and garner some INTEREST in another candidate. Nobody's excited about those *****, that's what causes such jealousy. Give us a reason to feel excited about a principled, Constitution-defending honest person who is NOT Ron Paul....you can't--they don't exist.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8Did that say alabama???? I hope ron paul wins
- conley, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9Why isnt this on the front page anymore??
