- ncairns, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9Let me ask you a question here.
You really, honestly, truly believe that *every single poll* conducting by national polling authorities is inaccurate?
Did you ever take statistics? - ncairns, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8This is pretty desperate. He has very little support. That's the reality of the situation - support him if you want, but ignoring the fact that he has NEVER scored more than three points in any scientific poll is just delusional.
- ncairns, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7In other words; you failed high school statistics.
- ncairns, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7So, you're telling me that you trust a wholly unscientific, easily-manipulated call-in poll over one in which the methodology is carefully controlled to get a random sample of actual voters?
That's beyond optimism - that's delusional. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6RonBots keeps spouting off about the "Young Vote" not being represented. Fun fact, did you know that the older generation 65+ (the kind that has land lines and would never participate in a text message poll) constitutes way more of the VOTING POPULATION than 18-24 year olds? While I agree the landline phone polls may be SLIGHTLY skewed, it's not going to make that much of a difference at all because older GOP voters outnumber younger ones by a lot.
- chaosgone, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3In my opinion, vote for who you think will do the best job.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Again, you are wrong. http://www.galluppoll.com/content/default.aspx?ci=17785
Read where it says "(Asked of Republicans and independents who lean to the Republican Party)" Ron Paul is right there. I'm more inclined to believe the professional polling organization over your mothers "story" - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2We don't even know if this was a legitimate polling organization. For all we know, it could have been some candidates campaign trying to get a feel of who people in the area are inclined to support.
- ncairns, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3So which Ron Paul fan-site told their members to call in?
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -3/+4I love it when the Ronbots display their total ignorance of the science of statistics.
- rudynoir, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0I wrote an article about this last week. I DO believe he can win, and here's why:
http://www.ronpaulnewengland.com/index.php/why-ron-paul-cant-win-wont-last - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -3/+3She failed to meet the criteria for the poll. So what? If the goal of the poll was to examine the support for only four of the candidates and she supported someone else then she did not fit the criteria for being included.
- chaosgone, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0You can read all that you want to know about opinion polls at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opinion_poll
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -3/+2Read below.... They don't even ask about all the candidates?!! But it's scientific?
You're an idiot, smell the coffee, they don't want Ron Paul to have any extra credence or publicity... How in the hell else do you have Fox news busting Ron Paul's balls when he's the most CONSERVATIVE right wing person in the running? Tell me that, mr. genius ncairns? - kayaker712, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1Figures can't lie but liars can figure.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1My mom was called last month for a poll on which candidate she would choose and they started out making sure she was republican, and then they only gave her 4 choices (including Thompson, who hadn't even proclaimed his nomination) and then they hung up on her when she said she would be voting for none of those choices and would vote for Ron Paul *Click*
- stealthc, on 10/10/2007, -3/+1We at least know he has DIFFERENT supporters than the polls show.
- clintontj72, on 10/10/2007, -4/+1Which means you are not considering outside factors and are biased. I'm not sure how Ron Paul would do if these issues discussed above were addressed...the problem is...they haven't been addressed. In science...you want to take everything in....all data points. They don't...so we don't know what support he really has.
- masamunecyrus, on 10/10/2007, -4/+1Have you ever watched Washington Journal on C-Span, ncairns? In case you haven't, it is a show on C-SPAN which examines current political news and allows people to call in and voice their opinions, live.
Have you watched that show when they are commenting on the debates? I cannot express enough to you how many people voiced their support for Ron Paul last time I woke up early enough to watch that show. They were discussing the debate, and it seemed that at least 80% of the callers, Republican, Democrat, and Independent (there are different lines to call depending on your political party affiliation) were calling in to support Ron Paul. And these were not just the "Ron Paulites" that so many of you on digg speak of; there was a huge variety of people , ranging from young, new-voters, to middle-aged men, to housewives with children, and even uneducated hicks that most of you call "sheeple".
Ron Paul's support is there and I think his message has been increasingly resonating with the American people. Even those overseas like him. And despite the TV and print media becoming increasingly hostile towards him, he has continually been gaining more, more, more, and more support. - vawksel, on 10/10/2007, -4/+1They call 100 people and ask who they vote for, then say "this is the winner". Not very scientific. It's true, of the 40,000,000 new 18 year olds this year, how many of them have land lines at college?
I think its time for a new way to take the poll.
I mean, look at the flip side, Fox news political debate, Ron Paul received 33% of the votes, to Giuliani's 17%. This done via Text Messaging, which younger people are more apt to do.
I think we're onto something! Go Dr. Paul! - vawksel, on 10/10/2007, -4/+1If they are calling on land lines, then YES.
The Fox news debate based on Text Messaging showed 33% Ron Paul, 17% Giuliani. Text messagers are generally younger, and with the younger crowd it's popular to not have a land line.
So yes, I think the standard polls are inaccurate.
- LuluBean, on 10/10/2007, -5/+1Cell phone vs. landlines may explain it
Because the polls are not accurately reflecting the support for Ron Paul across our land
