Under House rules, the bill should have been defeated, but an odd thing happened... the House leadership refused to gavel the vote closed. Instead, they kept the vote open for three hours while continuing to twist arms and cut deals...the House leadership finally rounded up the votes necessary to pass the bill at 5:45, three hours after the beginning of the fifteen minute vote..."
If there had been just one more Ron Paul-type constitutionalist in congress this bill would have been defeated. Goes to show how important it is to support his congressional campaign as well as Murray Sabrin and Jim Forsythe. Let's get more people fighting for freedom in Washington.
