I'm taking full credit... ;-) - BillE3, on 06/24/2009, -9/+209The media is avoiding this issue as much as the firing of the I.G. Thank god for the internet information highway. I can not imagine depending solely on MSM to give me news and information.
- macmcraeart, on 06/25/2009, -2/+152audit congress while you're at it.
- Moonkeeper, on 06/24/2009, -4/+121Actually, when IS the vote? Something is seriously wrong if over half of Congress cosponsors something and its not getting debated.
- shazbotben, on 06/25/2009, -19/+119RON PAUL 2012!!!
- azikrogar, on 06/25/2009, -13/+92***** the Fed!
Give me liberty or give me death! - 4chin8, on 06/24/2009, -12/+80I'm extremely hopeful that this will be passed, but it shouldn't have to be this hard!!! Imagine that this was a marriage situation. The Fed is the Husband that makes the money and the Congress is the wife that thinks she gets to spend the money to take care of her household. Now, I don't know any wives that would blindly allow her partner to keep her in the dark--not telling her how he's making money, how much money he has, and whether or not he's using the family funds for personal recreation like supporting other wives or funding illegal activities. Everyone in congress should want to sign this bill to prove that they are not kept women--
- richmomz, on 06/24/2009, -0/+54I think Paul said it was tentatively scheduled to be debated along with other finance/banking related bills in July. Even though it's forced out of committee it still has to wait in the pipeline with all the other bills waiting to be debated.
- NorthMass, on 06/25/2009, -3/+56What's wrong with some transparency? They won't even tell us where they spent $2 trillion.
http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601087&am ... - kiffar, on 06/25/2009, -4/+57My representative didn't sign this? ***** that he's getting an e-mail.
- r3dstormrising, on 06/25/2009, -4/+54I doubt the FED could survive an audit, but in a world where AIG will see record profits after receiving a ridiculous amount of tax payer cash to keep it from going under...............anything can happen. Rome fell, as shall we.
- Jethro82, on 06/25/2009, -3/+52This is what i sent to my representative, Dennis Moore of Kansas District 3:
Dear Congressman Moore,
I understand that you are concerned greatly on fiscal responsibility, and you are no doubt concerned with the state of the economy. In a maelstrom of economic turmoil no one person is solely to blame, but there are a few factors that greatly contributed to the problem. Poor lending practices by banks, wall street greed, and ignorance of automobile companies to the growing demand of more efficient automobiles. But there is also another factor that isn't greatly focused on, because it is part of the government (ironic that the government is one of the few institutions that hasn't been blamed?). It is the Federal Reserve and its extremely low interest rates that meant to spur growth but led to overlending. It would be extremely foolish to call for the abolishment of the federal reserve given our economy based on fiat currency, but proper auditing of it would fix most grave errors. Just as nearly every part of government and business is audited or monitored, the federal reserve should too. Auditing the Federal Reserve will greatly help the people in general and prevent the entanglement of big business and government. I appreciate if you do read this. I urge you to co-sponsor HR 1207, a bipartisan bill that effectively monitor the federal reserve. My confidence in you as a representative is riding on your action in regard to this bill.
(i wrote it myself, yay!) - guntario, on 06/24/2009, -2/+45I wish I could say the same about my Rep... I've emailed, called, and visited his office and he hasn't signed, or taken the time to contact me.
- emazur, on 06/25/2009, -3/+46Auditing the Fed is not just a libertarian~right wing issue, much of the material presented in this vid (about 13 mins) should appeal to those on the left (I don't entirely agree w/ it but it's not bad - the parts with Rep. Alan Grayson (D) are great):
http://therealnews.com/t/index.php?option=com_cont ... - iveL, on 06/24/2009, -3/+45Stay tuned for "cyber-attacks" from Russia or China (or whatever) etc... a false-flag "cyberterrorim" attack will be the perfect way to usher in a "Cyber-Patriot Act" full of consolidation of power, more stripping of 4th amendment rights, censorship, and out-in-the-open tracking, tracing and databasing of every individual's internet activities.
- drmangrum, on 06/25/2009, -13/+54Here's a serious question to all the Obamabots out there: Why isn't Obama calling for more support for these bills? He ran on a platform of government transparency. Well, here's a bill that does just that. As Bill Maher said, I'm tired of the audacity of hope, I'm hoping for a little more audacity. Aiding Ron Paul and Bernie Sanders in passing these bills would go a long damn way to living up to one of his biggest campaign slogans that has proven to be a lie.
- ryanparkdotme, on 06/25/2009, -3/+41We hold all public companies (think Wall Street) accountable by requiring them to have audits each year, no company would be listed on any stock exchange without one. Why is it that this same scrutiny hasn't been applied to one of the most important financial institutions in the world? Outrageous!
- conza88, on 06/25/2009, -6/+44How Abolishing the Fed Would Change Everything by Lew Rockwell
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rm7d2H7ayPU - zanzzz, on 06/25/2009, -2/+36What I find curious about this bill is the idea that Congress doesn't understand what the hell the Federal Reserve is actually doing. I'll make it simple. The Fed and Congress are conspirators in a fraud perpetrated against the American public. The Fed is allowed to profit when Congress orders it to print money backed by debt. The private cabal of banks that are the Fed charges the government for this privilege. The Congress gets to spend money it would otherwise have to raise taxes to support. Congress gets re elected, the Fed banks get rich, and the American consumer gets robbed through the hidden and cruelest tax- inflation.
- richmomz, on 06/24/2009, -2/+34It's coming - I'll have a plate of crow ready for you and NoLibs when it passes.
- juankovo, on 06/25/2009, -1/+30Get a petition, get lots of signatures, and hand it in. Worked in my district.

- IgorUnchained, on 06/25/2009, -2/+25Dear (IgorUnchained)
Thank you for taking time to contact me about the role of the Federal Reserve. Your input is a critical part of making sure the laws we pass in the Senate reflect Montana priorities.
The Federal Reserve Board is an independent regulator that maintains monetary policy. The board must occasionally make difficult decisions affecting the long term outlook of our economy. As a member of the Senate Banking Committee, I have oversight over the Federal Reserve Board. I will continue using that position to make sure that their policies make sense for Montanans, regardless of their income.
I have already had the opportunity to question Chairman Bernanke about inflation, commodity prices, and the role of the Federal Reserve in the deal by JP Morgan Chase to take over Bear Stearns. I always look forward to the opportunity to question him when he testifies in front of my committee.
If any legislation regarding the Federal Reserve comes before me, be assured that I will keep your views in mind. Please do not hesitate to contact me again in the future if I can be of further assistance.
Sincerely,
Jon Tester
United States Senator - btschul, on 06/25/2009, -7/+29Just bury this guy. He's an ***** who tried to use the tragic holocaust museum shooting to bash Ron Paul. He has no human decency. Just an irrational hatred of Ron Paul, freedom, and Libertarians.
- asielen, on 06/25/2009, -0/+21Kind of hard to get them to audit themselves but it is needed.
- TheSkunkMonkey, on 06/25/2009, -0/+21"But there is also another factor that isn't greatly focused on, because it is part of the government (ironic that the government is one of the few institutions that hasn't been blamed?). I hate to disappoint you but the Federal Reserve is NOT part of the government. They deliberately used the word Federal in the name to confuse the public. It appears to have worked quite well because most people believe it. - ibgarrett, on 06/25/2009, -2/+23243 - I'll sponsor it - not that I'm in an elected office - but I'm all for stuff like this!
- greendalek, on 06/25/2009, -3/+23I have an uncomfortable feeling that Speaker Pelosi will never allow this onto the agenda no matter HOW much support it has. She's an unapologetic champion of centralized banking (when she "can recall" what she's supposed to be in favor of, of course...)
- Deathspike, on 06/25/2009, -7/+26This is great and it's about time. I'm glad more people are listening to and supporting the good doctor and his ideals.
- kemp34, on 06/25/2009, -2/+21So to save a few bucks we just trust unelected, unaccountable bureaucrats with trillions of dollars with no oversight? Dude, you can't be that dumb.
- inactive, on 06/25/2009, -3/+22I bet you and NoLibertarians are buttbuddies.
- MooseOfReason, on 06/25/2009, -0/+19Hortnon, Because more than half of the House of Representatives supporting the bill means absolutely nothing at all, right? /s
- inactive, on 06/25/2009, -0/+19It's a neither side issue. Whether you want the government to be big, small or shaped like Mickey Mouse, you should know where the cash is going and who gets to print all the lovely money.
- kemp34, on 06/25/2009, -6/+23Stockholm Syndrome
- foodtimeagain, on 06/25/2009, -3/+20I'm not a Ron Paul supporter, but I still see this as good news for everyone but the Federal Reserve and its beneficiaries.
- z28com, on 06/25/2009, -18/+34All the people who did not vote for this man to become president are all DICK HEADS. I spent a fortune on contributing to his campaign and convinced many friends and relatives to vote for him.
- Friendlyhazard, on 06/25/2009, -1/+17he's misinformed
- btschul, on 06/25/2009, -2/+18Also, I think he makes people say to themselves: "If the only people who oppose Ron Paul are this retarded and irrational, there must be something to what he's saying."
- jbnumba1, on 06/25/2009, -5/+21I live in the U.S., yet I feel that I am far from living in a free society.
- TwinTurboMike, on 06/25/2009, -1/+16Sweet, I am looking forward to watching the testimonies on C-SPAN filled with "I don't recall", "That investigation is currently underway", "We don't have record of that" and "Can you please clarify your question?"
Hopefully by then the economy is in a state at which I can still afford cable television.
Here's the season 1 preview:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PXlxBeAvsB8 - Doubledown, on 06/25/2009, -1/+16My rep is yet to sign it... stupid Massachusetts Representatives!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- MooseOfReason, on 06/25/2009, -0/+15Fine, but the Fed's higher on the list of priorities.
- MooseOfReason, on 06/25/2009, -2/+17NoLibs is just fine with no accountability over a secretive organization that de-values our money.
But unless he's following Linda Robertson around lobbying members of Congress against the bill, we have nothing to worry about. - shazbotben, on 06/25/2009, -5/+20Yeah because the United States is geographically and culturally comparable to Somalia in every way. If Ron Paul were elected it would be exactly like that.
/s - JordanTW90, on 06/25/2009, -2/+17Sure its been audited. But has it ever been audited after expanding the balance sheet by $10 Trillion?
- Unreal030, on 06/25/2009, -3/+18NAACP President: Ron Paul Is Not A Racist
http://www.prisonplanet.com/articles/january2008/0 ...
"Austin NAACP President Nelson Linder, who has known Ron Paul for 20 years, unequivocally dismissed charges that the Congressman was a racist in light of recent smear attempts, and said the reason for him being attacked was that he was a threat to the establishment."
""Knowing Ron Paul and having talked to him, I think he's a very fair guy I just think that a lot of folks do not understand the Libertarian platform," he added.
Here's some more.
Asked directly if Ron Paul was a racist, Linder responded "No I don't," adding that he had heard Ron Paul speak out about police repression of black communities and mandatory minimum sentences on many occasions.
Dr. Paul has also publicly praised Martin Luther King as his hero on many occasions spanning back 20 years.
"I've read Ron Paul's whole philosophy, I also understand what he's saying from a political standpoint and why people are attacking him," said Linder."
In short Wartyboskfapped, your a ***** moron. - inactive, on 06/25/2009, -1/+15Obama veto this? That would make him a one-termer. Allow trillions to vanish, lost without trace? ONE-TERMER
