- melve, on 10/12/2007, -10/+332"has run an impressive insurgent campaign..."
Sometimes one wonders how deliberate a certain choice of wording is. - brianbb98, on 10/12/2007, -21/+164Not that they're censoring it... just a lot of people digging it down as well. As a strong suppoter of Dr Paul I find it hard to believe how someone could choose another candidate over him, he's the only one that makes sense.

Funny this is actually accurate. Ron Paul is fighting not only the established federal goverment, but also the GOP. - danconia, on 10/10/2007, -11/+133I still can't believe this. Totally made my day... and for the 3rd quarter which is supposed to be the SLOWEST quarter! Everyone was expecting like $3 million and we got this little nice surprise. WOOOT!!
- MarkCentury, on 10/12/2007, -71/+173Digg is censoring Ron Paul!
There is another duplicate story directly from the Ron Paul campaign which already has over 470 Diggs!
Ron Paul's website is featuring the incredible story of his raising $5.1 Million:
http://blog.ronpaul2008.com/ron_paul_2008/2007/10/ ...
There is a digg link which leads to this Digg Page:
http://digg.com/2008_us_elections/Ron_Paul_raises_ ...
This currently has 467 diggs. HOWEVER, if you go to the home page of Digg.com and try to search for this story IT CANNOT BE FOUND ANYWHERE!!!!!
Please contact Digg.com and challenge them on this!
Thanks!
Mark - j.carcinogen, on 10/10/2007, -7/+107What is also interesting to point out is that over 1 million of this was raised in the last week of the quarter.
- eatsushi, on 10/10/2007, -11/+106keep it up! they can't ignore us forever!
- Simcom, on 10/12/2007, -16/+98Every single story about this has been unable to reach front page.. which is even more incredible considering this IS real news, and is a lead story on every news outlet's politics page. wtf?
- drakethegreat, on 10/10/2007, -7/+85So 3 million as some thought yesterday was way off. Pretty embarrassing to the mainstream media because once again they underestimate how strong the RP base really is.
- stopbrorape, on 10/10/2007, -10/+84digg loves ron paul.
- wishninja, on 10/10/2007, -13/+84I gave to Paul because he is the central front in the war on the constitution.
- yozef, on 10/10/2007, -8/+70RON PAUL is the only candidate who dares to stand up against AIPAC!!
- superfrodies, on 10/12/2007, -12/+72Does anyone have a link to Paul's official fund raising numbers for the 3rd quarter?
- a3r0, on 10/12/2007, -6/+65It's called being buried.
- CannedMango, on 10/12/2007, -8/+65It's not necessarily censorship. The digg algorithm is quite sophisticated and takes many things into consideration.
One of the things it takes into consideration is the types of *other* stories that the user is digging. So, if everyone who diggs a RP story diggs a disproportionate amount of RP stories (say it's 80% of their diggs) then their digg is worth much less than someone who balances out their diggs across a number of different types of stories.
The reasoning for this is it prevents digg/bury brigades from controlling or eliminating a certain amount of content from the site.
The problem with this is that it appears to the layman that stories are being actively buried (by some insidious unseen force of users) when it is much more likely that their own enthusiasm for digging all RP stories is causing them to lose clout in the system and thus is takes many more diggs for these stories to reach the front page.
The lesson in all of this? If you want good content on the front page, digg up good stories equally and don't just blindly digg up every single RP story (or other favourite topic of yours). Just digg up the "important" ones and your vote will have much more meaning. Think of it as digg "tuning out" the repetitive white noise. - FascistNation, on 10/10/2007, -3/+58We went from media speculation of $3 million raised in the third quarter to $5.1 million. That is a wow. More money than Romney raised (after you subtract the $6 million he kicked in from his wallet). And $5.3 million on hand ... now that is running a budget. The mainstream media will now be begging for ads. It will be interesting to see the other's amounts.
- digggggggggggg, on 10/10/2007, -10/+65I will vote for Ron Paul because the FDA is a bane on free market economy
- AntBing, on 10/10/2007, -4/+55Shouldn't that be "war FOR the Constitution?"
- fishwhistle, on 10/10/2007, -8/+58Ron Paul is the only candidate i have ever given a contribution to.The story also made on The Drudge Report.

https://www.ronpaul2008.com/donate - sutro33, on 11/07/2007, -6/+56I don't support Ron Paul, and usually all the Digg stories about him annoy me, but this is pretty impressive. As someone who has donated to both Obama and Kucinich, I do think the press needs to give Paul more coverage and respect than they do, and maybe this will allow for that.
- WiseWeasel, on 10/10/2007, -6/+55Either you pay for it now to get someone decent elected, or you pay for it later in increased taxes and decreased representation... you decide...

- hiphoc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+48The term is accurate. But this is double speak. The majority of Americans see the term insurgent and think Iraqi, terrorist, someone who hates us for our freedoms. The main stream misuse of the words has canged its meaning to something its not. When I hear insurgent I think, Iraq ... killing our soldiers. This word use was done on purpose. The brain dead neocons out there will not see this the way we see this.
- JaceFuse, on 10/10/2007, -3/+50Perhaps that is correct, but the point is that insurgency normally is made out to be some kind of hostile act.
Ron Paul is doing everything not only legally, but quite possibly more legally than his opposition. - wishninja, on 10/10/2007, -8/+53I think there is a group of voters wanting to be heard.
- waxparadigm, on 10/12/2007, -9/+54http://blog.ronpaul2008.com/ron_paul_2008/2007/10/ ...
- davidg11, on 10/10/2007, -7/+50There is actually an online pledge site whereas you get as many people to pledge to give $x to Ron Paul but ONLY IF, "x" amount of people do the same. The only problem with it is that there are competing pledge drives on there. Because some people are starting pledge drives that say I'll give $100 if 1,000,000 people also pledge the same. While others, who think that goal is unrealistic (me too) are starting pledges of 10,000 people at $100 to Ron Paul for $1 million.
Personally I believe it is completely realistic and doable for 100,000 - 200,000 people to pledge $100 over the next 90 days. That would raise $10-$20 million for Ron Paul. Why do I think that is a realistic number of people? First, there are over 50,000 members in Ron Paul meetup groups on meetup.com plus 6000 more looking to meetup. My theory is simply if you are passionate enough to go public in a meetup group, you're probably passionate enough to donate $100 over the course of 90 days (thats 8 bucks a week). So there's $5+ million right there. I also believe there are at least 1-3 Ron Paul "lurkers" like myself who are NOT in a meetup group; they are people who aren't near anyone close enough to be in a meetup group, or are simply have a reserved personality and don't want to join a "group" but would still actively donate to the cause. So, I believe you can easily get another 50,000+ on board with that for $12 million (Ron Paul's goal is $12 million this quarter). I think the only way this works is if Ron Paul's campaign organizes this online pledge drive and not multiple public online pledge drives by indivdual supporters. If you think my idea is workable and sane, help me send this idea to Ron's Fundraiser:

All I ask if this works is that I be appointed ambassador to some stable tropical nation for Ron Paul's administration. ;) - ThomasPaine23, on 10/20/2007, -3/+46The Department of Education was not CREATED until 1980, and the school system has only gotten worse since then.
I'd say yeah it is crazy to want to keep it. - j.carcinogen, on 10/10/2007, -17/+59The digg nazis are trying to bury this.
- Landeyda, on 10/10/2007, -6/+47It's called less federal government and more state rights. You know, like how the founding fathers set it up?
- jimmyjay, on 10/10/2007, -19/+54Sticks & stones ........
You could even call me part of the Ron Paul jihadists. So long as my man Dr. Paul is gaining momentum - - I'm happy!
And today is defiantly a day to celebrate!
Ron Paul's message will break through. It is just that powerful. - londt, on 10/10/2007, -6/+41Ron Paul's campaign depends on 2 things: individuals contributing to his campaign and registered party members turning out to vote in the primaries. All you Paul supporters, put your money where your mouths are and contribute to his campaign! Then be sure to register with the GOP so you can participate in the primaries, get out from behind the computer and go out and vote!
- davidg11, on 10/10/2007, -6/+41Money talks. Digging down walks. No one. NO ONE can ignore $5.1 million raised. That was the whole point of the Ron Paul push. You can not dismiss it. Now how many newspapers and news outlets are going to run with this story tomorrow?
- jdh24, on 10/12/2007, -15/+50sign the pledge for $100! there's almost no risk since 1 million is a high goal, but this could raise a lot of money! http://www.pledgebank.com/Pauls-100mill
- yoshimaroka, on 10/10/2007, -3/+35He doesn't want any regulations or taxation on the internet.
- FLaw, on 10/10/2007, -19/+49Please for the love of god, know were your candidate places his votes for before giving him yours. this gos for everyone, not just Ron Paul.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Political_positions_o ... - jotate, on 10/10/2007, -4/+33I was already aware of these things. He's still the best Republican on the ticket. I'm sure you could find a comparable list for Hillary, keystoned by the Iraq War vote.
The majority of these can be justified with the idea of a limited federal government and spending.
And "anti-children"? Don't you think that's a little...sensationalist? - RizenBB, on 10/10/2007, -5/+34He's not anti-gay, stop reading between the lines. You do realize he voted not once, but twice to not have a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage? I don't even know where you are pulling the anti-minority/children crap but you need to do some more reading.
- jmknsd, on 10/10/2007, -3/+32well, If I found 2.5 million dollars, and another 2.5 million dollars, I wouldn't be poor.
- HoodCrowd, on 10/10/2007, -4/+33Dear idiot, sir davidwasman,
It is not that he is anti anything but anti Federal Government getting involved where it should not. The feeling around the country is that the government is supposed to do, approve and ban anything it wants to. I would suggest reading the Constitution sometime and figure out what the role of government is in all the issues you mentioned. The Federal government is supposed to make sure we have freedom and liberty. Your crap that Ron Paul did not vote for is unconstitutional. The Federal government is not supposed to make those decisions. When you get it, you will not get the negative diggs. Till then, you do not understand the reason behind the votes. When you really get it, you will see.
HoodCrowd - SouthsideIrish, on 10/10/2007, -0/+28Please read the damn bill before you give me the talking points. I can be for abortions and vote against a tax increase to pay for it. Does that make me pro-life? Yep, he is against gay marriages. In fact, he is against hetero-sexual marriages too. He is against all marriages, because he is against anyone getting federal benefits for being married. Most of the rest of it is taxes, taxes and more taxes and he has talked about funding most of this by getting out of Iraq. Ron Paul does not want to take welfare away, he wants to get people off of it, and fund it with money saved from the war, and end government aid slowly. Check out his essay on Forbes.
- gentlax13, on 10/10/2007, -1/+27Officially, we won't know about most campaigns 3rd quarter totals until the 15th. Most campaign suffer large percentage decreases in the 3rd quarter while Ron Paul increased donations 114%.
In General Democrats are out-raising republicans this year and Hilliary Clinton a Barak Obama are far and away the fund raising royalty. They'll both bring in over $20M this quarter alone. Republicans don't do as well.
The important republican number right now is Cash on Hand and Ron Paul's 5.3M will put him in the McCain ball park and in the Romney ball park if you exclude his $6M loan to himself. Nobody is sure how much Cash on Hand Tompson will have but my guess is that it'll be in the 5-7M range. Rudy will probably have the most cash on hand this quarter by a fair margin. There is also an outside shot that Huckabee could be in this range as well.
In Short: this makes Ron Paul very competitive financially for the GOP nomination. - NoPis10, on 10/12/2007, -7/+33No, that's because everyone else is a lying through their teeth phony.
- KevenM, on 10/10/2007, -14/+39THE STORIES ARE BEING BURIED BECAUSE THEY'RE ***** DUPLICATES!! http://i22.tinypic.com/2upctjs.png
I even started a story last week warning RP story submitters to lay off the duplicates because they'd get buried. They thought it was anti-RP and buried it.
THIS IS WHAT YOU GET WHEN YOU TRY TO FLOOD DIGG, SO SHOW SOME F'N RESTRAINT!! - Forge42, on 10/20/2007, -3/+27I have several teachers in my family and all of them CHEER the idea of getting rid of the department of education. It doesn't mean Paul thinks education should be done away with... it means he thinks FEDERAL government regulation of education should be done away with.
- XBunnyRacer, on 10/10/2007, -1/+25I just sent in another $25.. I try to send $25 per month :)
- pricees, on 10/10/2007, -6/+30Not sure how that applies to this situation in any way.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -3/+25Slightly better? If your employer offered you a 60% pay rise would you also classify that as only 'slightly better'?
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -5/+27I have always thought of the campaign as trying to re-institute the very foundation that the government was built on. Plus...regardless of the meaning. "insurgents" are the jackal's who kill our soldiers and I don't care for the term.
If you ask me (and I know you DON'T!), the insurgency are those elected officials who routinely and willingly hand over American Sovereignty to a gobal authorities and big business. -
