- keyboardduder, on 11/13/2007, -10/+85ALL of these polls, all of these numbers mean nothing. People who are for paul are far more passionate than your average voter. However, the media has a grasp on the elections, and always will. I dont think enough people are pissed off yet to do something about all of this. For god sakes, the majority still thinks clinton is the good democratic candidate! Unfortunately, nobody even knows who kuchinich is.
- atdigg, on 11/13/2007, -4/+70"Bernanke might want to get an early start on his post-Fed life as an economic consultant or professor. Just in case." -- LOL!!!
- rficwizard, on 11/13/2007, -3/+61If Ron Paul is not the future of the GOP, then the GOP has no future. America does not need two "big government" parties. The only way that the GOP can stay relevant is to be significantly different than the DFL. The DFL has historically been, and will continue to be, about big government. The only way the GOP can be relevant is to be the party of small government. Every GOP candidate except Ron Paul has lost sight of that.
- hoffey, on 11/13/2007, -16/+59Help us Ron Paul, you're our only hope.
- StopTheLie, on 11/13/2007, -0/+30Speaking of the FDIC (from http://MeetTheSystem.ORG )
"Just as the banks never keep anywhere near the amount of money in their vaults that they owe their customers, the FDIC has nowhere near the amount of money it claims to insure on hand in the event of a banking collapse. How thin are the “reserves” standing by to rescue the people from irresponsible banking? Just about as thin as one could imagine. Not 50%, not 30%, not 15% or even 5%...more like 1%. As if that isn’t bad enough, that paltry 1% doesn’t even exist in the form of cash. By law, the bank fees paid into the “FDIC fund” must be invested in Treasury bonds. In other words, it is “loaned” to Congress which of course promptly spends every penny. (If the FDIC truly “insures” anything, it’s a steady supply of money flowing into Treasury bonds for our politicians to spend.)
One major bank failure could easily wipe out the so-called FDIC fund in an instant. Not to worry though, the fund is “backed by the full faith and credit of the federal government.” Well, doesn’t that make you feel warm and fuzzy inside? The same federal government that doesn’t have any money; the same government that is currently borrowing more than a billion dollars a day to try and support its spending programs…
So what happens when the FDIC needs money to cover depositor’s losses? The government must borrow it. So it sells more I.O.U.’s (treasury securities) and whatever the public doesn’t buy, the Federal Reserve agrees to purchase. But the Fed has no money either…no problem. Whatever the Fed needs to buy the bonds will simply be “created out of thin air” and presto: the FDIC is now funded. The newly created money floods into the economy, the purchasing power of our currency goes down, and through the hidden tax of inflation we all pay the price. Isn’t this fun? - Bartboy919, on 11/12/2007, -3/+25He is the democratic advocate for spinach.
- arbulus, on 11/12/2007, -0/+21he's using ron paul as his avatar for the same reason his username is a line of XXXXX: he's a ***** troll.
- Calc1000, on 11/11/2007, -2/+22Don't plan on getting too much sleep.
- inactive, on 11/14/2007, -1/+19how is giuliani is in such a big lead?
everyone hates him and the dems will surely get a walk for 2008 election if he wins the GOP primary, what a waste of a candidate - spammvp, on 11/11/2007, -4/+22If you're gonna use Ron Paul as your profile picture please be a little more respectful. You're representing us all, and Ron Paul speaks nothing like you.
- spammvp, on 11/11/2007, -7/+25I prefer the insurance of gold over the insurance of some fabricated government controlled bureau.
- inactive, on 11/13/2007, -8/+26Ron Paul is about FREEDOM.
- wetmetalthong, on 11/13/2007, -10/+27Is "kuchinich" a type of eggplant?
- BluesFan, on 11/14/2007, -1/+18Ron Paul is already number #1 on the republican side, the media makes him out to be 5 or 6 in the polls...the media can make you believe pretty much anything that want you to belive.I blame the media almost as much as the Bush administration why this country is in such bad shape.
When the media starts feeding us the truth about everything that's when we can start taking our country back! - thecoolestguy, on 11/13/2007, -3/+18America's Braveheart:

The military's favorite candidate.
The patriot's candidate.
Ron Paul. - suriyou, on 11/12/2007, -0/+15I'm a member of the Republican party, and I'm for Ron Paul.
- xerigen, on 11/11/2007, -0/+15Maybe mainstream votes, but not money. He has raised nearly 8 million this quarter, with 4.3 million of it coming on November 5th. He is raising just as much money as "mainstream" candidates.
- frsrblch, on 11/12/2007, -0/+14Yes, the world will be much better off with another war in the Middle East, and continuing wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Have you been paying ANY attention for the last 6 years?
- deadbaby, on 11/11/2007, -2/+15Passionate or not its one vote person.
- rarson, on 11/12/2007, -0/+12Well, apparently Americans need to feel like they're voting for a "winner" in order to think that their vote actually counts. So the fact that people are beginning to think Paul might have a shot is good.
- mrjit, on 11/11/2007, -2/+14USERS OF THE INTERNET ARE CLEARLY NOT REAL PEOPLE
- Fragowell, on 11/12/2007, -1/+13I like how you imply Paul supporters are lazy. Clearly everything that has happened up to this point supports that claim.
- Randlemen, on 11/13/2007, -0/+11Ron Paul never voted to raise taxes, doesn't participate in the congressional pension plan and returns money every year from his congressional office budget. Has delivered over 4000 babies. He has been married for 50 years . Any other politician have half as much integrity?
- JJCDAD, on 11/11/2007, -1/+12FDIC only has the funds to really backup 1/10th of 1% of all funds on deposit in the US. It makes you feel good, but it's worthless should a real run on the banks come.
- coldkodiak, on 11/11/2007, -2/+12that means more people on the internet have a hard on for mitt romney and giuliani.
- thecoolestguy, on 11/11/2007, -5/+15The FDIC is about as useful as the Social Security Trust. Note, all the money in the Social Security Trust that was supposed to go towards Social Security payments has been spent by politicians for other programs, meaning the government will never be able to honor the $60 trillion in Social Security obligations it has..
- Factionrider, on 11/12/2007, -0/+10Are you kidding me? Ron Paul has almost twenty years experience in congress and he is the ONLY candidate that makes any fiscal sense. You want the dollar to come back? Cut back spending on foreign policy and useless or antiquated government funded agencies. Watch the interview that was on the front page yesterday and you'll understand a lot more about him.
- kushed, on 11/12/2007, -0/+9Don't feed the troll.
- jeffiek, on 11/11/2007, -1/+10"Please tell me somehow the FDIC (thing?) will stay."
It'll be around for quite some time. Dr. Paul is running for President, not God.
Still, government "insurance" is not the only form of security. Diversity is another. Anyway, what good is it to have a government that insures the QUANTITY of your dollars while at the same time destroying the VALUE of those same dollars? - Humptydank, on 11/13/2007, -0/+8"Use The Force of The Market, Luke...."
- Shorties, on 11/12/2007, -0/+8I switched to the Republican Party, so that I could vote for Ron Paul.
- rarson, on 11/11/2007, -0/+8I don't understand what you people are worrying about. You want to make sure your money is insured in case your bank gets robbed? What are they taking? Worthless paper, paper that is worth less and less every day because of the Federal Reserve.
You're worried about losing a large chunk of money all at once, while ignoring the fact that the Fed has been stealing money from you since it's inception. I don't get it.
If banks lose large sums of money, all the Fed is going to do is the same thing it always does: create more of it. Every time they do that, they steal from your money pile that is sitting in the bank by devaluing it. - arichard, on 11/13/2007, -1/+9And pulling money out of your ass ISN'T an economic disaster?
- Humptydank, on 11/11/2007, -0/+8Sorry, can you walk me through how gold will help a thousand people whose bank just went insolvent? Or is not being sure whether to trust banks or not simply part of a "free market system?"
Will the FDIC and its protections be eliminated under a Ron Paul administration, or will that be a keeper? - Treason, on 11/11/2007, -2/+10Shut up with your anti-Ron Paul pseudo *****.
- thecoolestguy, on 11/11/2007, -2/+9You're completely wrong. Free markets favor everyone, the consumer and the producer. In a free market, the only way a corporation can make money is to provide a useful product or service that consumers voluntarily choose to buy. In a socialist centralized state, corporations make money by getting their representatives in office (Cheney, Hillary) so that they dole out gigantic federal contracts to them (Iraq war- Halliburton, Medicare/Medicaid- Pharmaceuticals, HMO's) which are paid for with taxes coerced from citizens at the threat of facing prison sentences/fines.
- inactive, on 11/11/2007, -2/+9So what is deceptive about this story? Or are you just rattling off at the mouth?
- sapo916, on 11/11/2007, -1/+8Its all ok as long as you keep the general public ignorant. *sarcasm*
Ron Paul 2008. Maybe in the future we can try this big government thing again, but I think our current has failed. - toxicshok, on 11/11/2007, -0/+7I think he was being sarcastic.
- alulie, on 11/12/2007, -0/+7Was that supposed to be funny or informative?
- Factionrider, on 11/11/2007, -3/+10He's not talking about insuring the US dollar, he wants the money he has in the bank insured. I agree with him, there needs to be some kind of assurance that my money is not going to vanish if the bank goes under or the economy tanks.
- TheReport, on 11/13/2007, -0/+7Stick to your Crazy Canadian voodoo economics with your silly second rate universal healthcare that you are paying out of your pocket whether you want it or not, Social Security in this country is in complete shambles because of the same cookie cutter politicians that we have been electing for the past 10 years. I think its time for a new way. These same politicians have no bearing on true economic theory and their more spending policy against the devalued dollar not back in gold or silver that is decreasing every year is going to drive this country into bankruptcy. Ron paul is the only one that I've heard so far that has had concise and immeadiate solutions to what he would do to bring this economy back to health, Unlike the rest of the candidates who have been spouting the same political drivel ive been hearing at every debate since 1990. If anything Ron Paul is the only one that backs up his arguments with actual points. They may seem radical because. They are but don't think for a second that they are brand new ideas America didn't have an IRS before the 1900's and they were doing just fine it was just after the great depression and the world wars did the US Government have to increase spending by pickpocketing each hardworking americans income to support their nation building super power status around the world. If you think Our tax dollars go to public social projects, they do but compare that against how much of our money is going to over throw foriegn governments, installing puppets, and subsidizing future radicals to fight our proxy war only to eventually become disgrutled and fly planes into our buildings, my friend if you only knew how it really worked you wouldn't be as worked up as to call this man anything short of the only man talking sense anymore. Listen to his words and policies more closely, you might just find that it really does make sense.
- carpespasm, on 11/11/2007, -0/+7with regular money bombing he might not need it.
- scudiac, on 11/13/2007, -0/+6don't forget about the dec. 16th money bomb! The records aren't done being broken yet!
- mgreenwood, on 11/12/2007, -0/+6The media doesn't have a 'grasp on the elections' so much as they create the truth with so much early polling. The polls and reporting give the impression that Clinton/Guliani is a done deal. This gives people who are legitimately trying to make up their mind the feeling it would be futile to support a low polling candidate.. Leading of course to the polls becoming reality. In retrospect it will look like they had a grasp on things.
- samdu, on 11/12/2007, -0/+6"the media has a grasp on the elections"
No, the media ordains certain candidates as "front runners" and the sheeple follow their lead. If the media gave equal time and attention to all of the candidates, things might be different. They'd certainly be a lot more fair. As it stands now, the media is just as instrumental in deciding the presidency as the party leaders. The people, you know, that actual voters, are less influential than either. It's sad. - Bartboy919, on 11/12/2007, -5/+11Support free advertising: ^
- jjacksonRIAB, on 11/11/2007, -0/+6People, often Republicans, say "support our troops". The troops support Ron Paul. Therefore, we should support Ron Paul and show them that we truly care by bringing them home.
- thecoolestguy, on 11/11/2007, -1/+7You're an idiot socialist Canadian. You stayed under the British crown until the 1930's. Canada only got its own flag in 1965. If the US wasn't spending hundreds of billions of dollars maintaining an empire across 130 countries around the world, the gap between its economy and Canada's would be even bigger than it is now.
Who are you going to vote for next election? The Conservatives? The Liberals? The NDP? LOL. ***** dumb ***** Canadian and your 40+ percent income tax. You've accepted your socialist existence, Americans haven't. -
