- inactive, on 12/07/2007, -19/+180Every able body citizen in Switzerland has a full auto assault weapon in their home and must be proficient in it's use.
Many have arterially pieces in their back yards and yes, "bazookas" as well.
Naturally Switzerland is one of the safest places on earth, I guess it's the chocolate.
The one sided media bias on firearms that has prevailed for over 40 years is an excellent example of why they cannot be trusted on any subject much less this one. - inactive, on 12/07/2007, -26/+186Classic interview. 2nd Amendment is paramount. As good as you are going to get from corporate media like Newsweek. We need to keep the push on for Ron Paul.
Ron Paul is a Christian but that is irrelevent to his campaign. Just shows how good Ron Paul is. The others spend time talking about who is the Christian candidate, Ron Paul just talks about real issues. And I hope people see that by the way Ron Paul lives his life and his values that he is indeed the greatest Christian candidate out there.
** RON PAUL 2008 **
Join the R [ƎVO˩] UTION BaBY !! - inactive, on 12/07/2007, -11/+140he says "preemptive war is pretty evil" i love this guy
- harrisbradley, on 12/07/2007, -14/+123We need guns to protect ourselves from cops with tasers & personal problems
- active1x0, on 12/07/2007, -4/+91Word to the wise: AdBlock Plus will block the Flash player for this video. Worked fine once disabled.
"A single-shot pistol can kill you as fast as a machine gun."
Dugg. - FDDIcent, on 12/07/2007, -3/+74I didn't think politicians were allowed to even talk about civil disobedience. This guy has more balls than any other candidate. god I hope he wins, and if not then we should all spend the next four years promoting him for the next election.
- Jmuduke, on 12/07/2007, -7/+64The most practical way to enslave a population is to make them defenseless i.e. take away their guns. The ability to own a personal firearm is protected by the 2nd Amendment. There isn't really much of any grey area, even though the establishment would love to find one to take our arms away. Look up Katrina confiscation and see what they want to do. Blackwater was taking guns from civilians in the aftermath of Katrina. These are interviews with law abiding citizens, not rioters and gang members like they want you to believe. They want us disarmed and enslaved.
- Mara5, on 12/07/2007, -8/+64I'm not a Christian (as it were) but I'd vote for Ron Paul. He makes the most sense out of all the candidates.
- krnldmp, on 12/07/2007, -5/+50The second amendment is not about hunting.
- 1hope4us, on 12/07/2007, -13/+55The media was the status quo, please tell everyone to get out and vote! We need to save this country
- sHockz, on 12/07/2007, -8/+49how does ron paul make so much sense?
- diggit83, on 12/07/2007, -3/+40Howard Fineman was being a prick....its amazing that Ron Paul keeps his cool as much as he does.
- Sroek, on 12/07/2007, -8/+45His views on gun control just increased my respect for Ron Paul sevenfold.
- inactive, on 12/07/2007, -10/+47MYTH: People in Switzerland are heavily armed. There is an assault weapon in every Swiss home.
TRUTH: It's true that Swiss soldiers are required to keep their assault rifles at home. How big is the Swiss Army? 400,000. There are about 3 million Swiss households. 400,000/3,000,000= 0.133. Therefore, there is a military assault rifle in about 13% of Swiss homes. Soldiers are required to store their military weapons at home under lock and key and to undergo regular training.
Switzerland also has rather strict gun control laws. In Switzerland a permit is required in order to purchase a weapon (The permit shows that you are at least 18 and don't have a criminal record). A permit is also required to carrry a weapon. Such a permit is mostly issued to people who work in security-type occupations.
To obtain this permit, you have to demonstrate that you need to carry a weapon and that you know how to handle a gun safely and have knowledge of the law regarding firearms use. - montiff, on 12/07/2007, -5/+39Just got back from the a road trip from San Antonio to Austin Texas, and saw 5 big Ron Paul signs and Zero other candidates signs, keep it up people !
- Spike10111, on 12/07/2007, -5/+35"A pistol can kill you as fast as a machine gun can" - Ron Paul
so true. - kinghajj, on 12/07/2007, -2/+32As krnldmp said, the second amendment is not about hunting, but about allowing the people to be able to overthrow a tyrannical government.
On a practical level, it's impossible to ban guns. The "bad guys" will always find ways to get them. If you allow citizens only to have rifles or pistols, how can they defend themselves against someone who illegally has an assault rifle? It's stupid to think that criminals will obey laws. - inactive, on 12/07/2007, -4/+31Every time that man talks, I can't help but think what a great president he'll be.
- Darksoul, on 12/07/2007, -9/+35Dear god every time I see Ron Paul talk he is awesome he isn't just some goon that wants to be president because his daddy was one. He actually wants to change ***** and that means something I wish some people would give him the chance the real chance of winning but most people are close minded and can't change. It sucks like MadOgre said if he doesn't win the Rep Primary why vote for him because he doesn't stand a chance in hell of winning which sucks like hell.
- Jmuduke, on 12/07/2007, -0/+26It's not really that hard when everyone else running for President speaks nonsense. With the exception of Kucinich and Gravel, the rest are a bunch of liars and manipulators.
- zirconx, on 12/07/2007, -1/+27ngmcs8203, what do you think an "assualt rifle" is? Is it a scary looking gun? A gun that can kill people? What?
The weapon used in the Omaha shooting (where I live) fires a single shot each time you pull the trigger. Just like many of the hunting rifles you can pick up at Walmart.
All guns are deadly, we can't classify them into "scary" guns and hunting guns. - PeppermintPig, on 12/07/2007, -2/+28Romney reads from the Lawyer's Abridged Book of Mormon.
- oldhick, on 12/07/2007, -6/+31Probably not. But there are plenty of other Digg stories to read. If you're tired of Ron Paul stories then it seems extremely stupid to read a story titled "Ron Paul ..."
- tiraid, on 12/07/2007, -3/+27The Book of Mormon says the same thing. Someone should inform Romney.
- SuperHyperKid, on 12/07/2007, -20/+43yes.
- bstolzberg, on 12/07/2007, -4/+26RON PAULS PEOPLE WERE THE *ONLY* POLITICAL PEOPLE REPRESENTING/PROMOTING/CAMPAIGNING AT THE ST. LOUIS GUN SHOW! No other political candidates were there to say 'I support the 2nd ammendment' at all.
Ron Paul, you'll get my vote, and I hope all the other people who enjoy guns get your vote too. - BESTenemy, on 12/07/2007, -2/+24- I will not going to comply! This is a violation of my constitutional right!
- Sir, you are not cooperating, I'm going to have to taser you!
- No you won't! I have a gun!
- Oh... sorry sir! At first it looked like you were unarmed. I'm going to leave you alone now! Have a nice day! - fredcamino, on 12/07/2007, -2/+24Brilliant. It's mindblowing to see that kind of straight-forward honesty on television. We've grown so accustomed to hearing "spin" and pandering that hearing Ron Paul answer challenging questions with such reason and transparency is truly shocking.
- LastDitchHero, on 12/07/2007, -3/+23Wow, that is probably one of the dumbest anti-assault rifle comments I have ever heard. I will proudly own my assault rifle. Remember, speak quietly and carry a big stick
- NSResponder, on 12/07/2007, -0/+19The amendment doesn't GIVE the right. It ACKNOWLEDGES the right, and specifically prohibits the government from infringing it.
-jcr - Sidonas, on 12/07/2007, -2/+21The only candidate who, so far, has looked at Romney's religion and said that religion shouldn't matter as much as the other issues. That religion is a private matter that should be reflected by a candidates actions and demeanor rather than by a proclamation of being religious.
Ron Paul has gained even more respect than I previously had for him. - aspec, on 12/07/2007, -7/+25No, you're not. But aren't you tired of Hillary? And Kukinich? And Guiliani? And Romney? Ad Nauseam?
- noahhoward, on 12/07/2007, -5/+23I've only finished the first video and I already hate the interviewer and have a drastically altered (for the better) view of Mr. Paul. We'll see how that goes... on to video 2.
- OrangeTide, on 12/07/2007, -3/+21No thanks. The Nazis and Soviets did that right before they came to every person on the registration and took their guns away. It's a classic move for a fascist government.
If you own a gun and refuse to learn some basic safety (it's less complicated to learn than driving a car safely), then you are going to cause some damage or hurt someone. And at that point we ought to throw your dumb ass in jail, and you will never have a gun again (because it is illegal for felons to have guns)
This proactive ***** of "might" and "could" just reeks of big brother. You "might" use a blank CD to copy music illegally, so we'll just charge you a tax or outlaw CD-Rs. It's the same thing. - captainbeah, on 12/07/2007, -2/+19It's really amazing how he's the only candidate who talks like a reasonable person.
- kinghajj, on 12/07/2007, -4/+21A 500-pound bomb would threaten your neighbor because there is a chance of an accidental explosion. If you keep a gun secure, without ammo in it, then it has no chance of harming a neighbor.
- GlenLeafJr, on 12/07/2007, -0/+17Please explain the benefits of gun registration. Do you imply that this will decrease crime? Criminals by their very nature break the law and would be unlike to register their guns. Gun registration at best is an inconvenience for the law abiding and at worst a tool for confiscation by an abusive government.
- Sroek, on 12/07/2007, -2/+19The right to bear arms, especially assault and automatic weaponry, since you want to be able to contend with standard issue military weapons, is important to protect oneself against a tyrannical government or a breakdown of social order.
- travishenrichs, on 12/07/2007, -2/+18and your reasoning is supported by morons. nuff said.
- spiffytech, on 12/07/2007, -1/+17The part where you spend thousands of lives and hundreds of billions dollars before finding out that millions were not in mortal danger.
- scout154, on 12/07/2007, -3/+19If everyone had a gun those glorified security guards would stop abusing their position...
- scout154, on 12/07/2007, -8/+24I never thought that voting could make a real difference...Now I know it can thanks to Ron Paul...
- john2kx, on 12/07/2007, -17/+33God, why do they insist on calling it the "R [ƎVO˩] UTION"? It just makes them look like a bunch of hippies.. You have to admit, that's not the best way to win the Republican primary.
- demonsnake69, on 12/07/2007, -4/+20Before you criticize someone else's use of the English language, make sure to start your sentences with capital letters first.
- inactive, on 12/07/2007, -3/+18Vote in this USA today poll, Does the Second Amendment give individuals the right to bear arms?
http://www.usatoday.com/news/quickquestion/2007/no ... - Wargalas, on 12/07/2007, -0/+15I won't register any of my weapons simply because I don't want the government to know who's armed and who isn't and with what. Sure, you can find out that I don't have a criminal record and I'm of legal age, but once that's done, you have NO RIGHT to know what kinds of weapons or how many I own.
The government is supposed to be afraid of the citizens, not the other way around. - OrangeTide, on 12/07/2007, -4/+18It's simple, because you can be a Christian and a rational reasonable responsible person. There are plenty of Christians and Atheists and Scientologist out there that are not rational, reasonable or responsible. I have come to the conclusion that religion and rationality are orthogonal. (I'm an atheist, so my viewpoints are those of an "outsider's" wrt to this subject).
- MadOgre, on 12/07/2007, -9/+2398% Support the right to keep and bear arms.
The other 2% are French. - CanIGetAWitness, on 12/07/2007, -2/+15The interviewer had a predisposition to any answer he was going to get. He had smirks, sighs and the "of course" looks.
The majority of his questions were to see how libertarian RP really was. His questions were to find out where RP draws libertarian lines and get sound bites to use against him.
Fair enough, that is what most interviewers will do when trying to get ratings and do favors, so I won't hold it against him, but RP sees the BS and answered with logic and reasoning.
An RP Win. - reed311, on 12/07/2007, -4/+17Please. Pull a gun on a cop and tell us what happens.
