- biggsdarklight, on 11/08/2007, -6/+32Whether you're a Ron Paul supporter or not you have to be irritated that the MSM keeps moving the goal posts. Despite Paul raising large amounts of money, generating immense grassroots support and having more cash on hand than several other "front runners", they are deciding to use polling data as the benchmark for inclusion in this debate. Say what you wish about "scientific" polls but they are not entirely accurate because of the methods they use and unfortunately for Ron Paul they exclude either his name in the poll or tend to exclude his supporters. Paul better start spending some of that money in Iowa and he better do it fast. Missing a major debate a month before the caucuses could completely derail the campaign.
- TheTaoOfBill, on 11/08/2007, -4/+23If this is true and we can't raise a percent I say ***** it. If they don't want us there we will hold our own rally as close to the debate as we can and try to get as many people to show up as possible from all around. It will be like a nov 5th but live and in person. I am from Michigan and I will drive to Iowa personally just to show up if that's what they want to do. Let's hold a nation wide rally and try to get more people to show up there than at the debate.
Seriously let's get this planned. Show them the true power of the free market! - shadash, on 11/08/2007, -8/+26They try this and I will riot.
- davidg11, on 11/08/2007, -4/+18Didn't we make 5% in the CNN nationwide poll and 5% in the USA today poll?

Bitch, Ron Paul Fans, Bitch like you've never bitched before! - katie212, on 11/08/2007, -4/+13Fox is a JOKE and most people know it and are continuing to learn its true warmongering agenda. If they continue with their agenda we will continue to expose them. They must know that Americans arenot stupid and they are like Bushie...stomping their feet, but doing themselves NO GOOD. They have gotten to be quite funny as evidenced by the insurmountable monetary effects of Ron Pauls Nov 5th ! Give it up Faux News...It "AIN'T" working.
- biggsdarklight, on 11/06/2007, -2/+10Yes but they aren't using those polls they are using the Fox News Poll and the DM Register Poll.
- biggsdarklight, on 11/08/2007, -3/+10Here is the official debate press release. It verifies that inclusion requires 5% polling.
http://www.iowagop.net/shownews.asp?artid=33 - reeder, on 11/06/2007, -4/+11Of course they will. Fox News is purely a destructive propaganda outlet. The tow the right-wing corporate interests with sick pride. No one should be surprised by the lengths they will go to lie and cover-up. When things get down to the wire, they will play as dirty as they possibly can. Hell, Bush will just give them all a pardon regardless!
- raiderj, on 11/07/2007, -1/+7Ron Paul communist? He's pretty much the exact opposite of communist!
- jaymzdean, on 11/06/2007, -0/+5Blowback = Cancel the cable subscription.
- TheTaoOfBill, on 11/07/2007, -0/+4Iowa is going to be a tough sell I will give you that but New Hampshire is in the bag for sure. Live free or die. That's their motto and thats why so many of them are independents. And it shows when Ron Paul gets as high as 75% in their straw polls. If there was ever a state where Ron Paul will come in first it would be NH
- freecon, on 11/07/2007, -0/+3New Hampshire is in play.
- LeadOffMan, on 11/07/2007, -4/+7get used to uphill battles. When RP get's the nod (and he will), there will be lots of fighting to get things done. The IRS will not go away easily, among other useless government programs
- VIrus9, on 11/07/2007, -1/+4Do you even know what communism is?
- inactive, on 11/07/2007, -3/+6I don't think that any of us are anti-constitution in our beliefs. In fact, quite the opposite is true. We're just anti-Ron Paul because he's not really a constitutionalist, he just pretends to be one on TV.
- Nodaki, on 11/06/2007, -4/+6I too will personally take off work and drive the 1300 or so miles to peacefully protest the exclusion of Dr. Paul.
- Corrosionx, on 11/06/2007, -0/+2What makes you think the other organizations aren't as evil?
- VIrus9, on 11/07/2007, -1/+3Perhaps a boycott of the debate's advertisers is in order. That's all they understand anymore is what affects their cashflow.
- card51short, on 11/07/2007, -1/+3proof?
- LeadOffMan, on 11/07/2007, -4/+6get used to uphill battles. When RP get's the nod (and he will), getting things done will always be tough. The IRS is not going away easily, as well as other wasteful government programs
- card51short, on 11/07/2007, -1/+3The FDA keeps us alive, people! God, I'm so happy for the government and the FDA...where would I be without them?
There should be two americas: one for people who need the help of the government for every little thing and want to be surveiled over everything and one for people who just want to live and do their own thing with a very limited government.
But then again, after about 5 years, they'll all start to flood our america.
At least ncurses says "enforcing tax codes"...even he knows it's not a law. - enki25, on 11/07/2007, -0/+1According to the values of the Paulites, the "MSM" could refuse to give Ron Paul airtime simply because they feel they can make more money if other candidates are elected. From the standpoint of the free market, what is the MSM doing wrong here exactly?
- biggsdarklight, on 11/07/2007, -0/+1They are doing nothing illegal but the free market allows us to respond in a number of ways. One way is to boycott Fox News or voice our disapproval. Another way is to simply play their game and campaign hard to get Paul to the 5% threshold. My main issue is with the polling threshold because the polling is inaccurate (they only poll landlines and people who voted in 2004) but all we can do is prove them wrong on election day.
- Corrosionx, on 11/07/2007, -0/+1They purposely choose the polls they make public to fit their agenda. This is a business, these people are owned by people who want to shape public opinion.
- TheTaoOfBill, on 11/07/2007, -1/+2The FDA is in the pockets of the drug companies.
- chaosium, on 11/07/2007, -3/+4Anyone who can't see what's wrong with that "alternative" is the victim of serious lead poisoning and on the verge of mental retardation.
- Corrosionx, on 11/06/2007, -4/+5We call it the "Old People Poll" now.
- TheTaoOfBill, on 11/07/2007, -5/+6If we had more support than the other candidates combined, we wouldn't have such an uphill battle. But what is questionable is do we have enough support to beat the neocon vote when it is split up against so many neocons while Ron Paul unites the libertarian side of the republican party. And I think we do.
- inactive, on 11/07/2007, -0/+1
So we should crash and burn even WORSE by switching to the Gold Standard? Checked the history books at all? And how do we convince all the other countries to switch with us? Or are you proposing that we somehow go gold standard on our own? Who sets the price? A central bank like in the past? Who decides when the price changes? A central bank, like in the past?
If you don't trust a Fed now, why would you trust them with the Gold Standard?
Can you provide more than a bumper sticker answer? - sfpfc, on 11/06/2007, -0/+1First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win
- wonderboy, on 11/07/2007, -1/+2Where would we be without the biggest troll here?
Tancredo and Hunter didn't just raise $4.2 million in one day which is the single day online fundraising record. And how convenient that they use their own poll to disqualify him. The story directly below the current one shows Ron Paul at 5% in the CNN poll.
Seriously, stop trolling. If you don't like him, that's fine. But stop making posts like this in every other Ron Paul story. - inactive, on 11/07/2007, -1/+2So what is the RP'er take on RP not being able to poll 5% in either poll? Is it another conspiracy? Can't vote more than once, or move people to Iowa quick enough to bump the number? 40,000 supporters spread over 50 states puts the Iowa number too low?
Lots of talk about being pissed he is excluded, but little talk about his dismal numbers in Iowa. - ncurses, on 11/07/2007, -1/+2too bad they're not using a real, scientific poll like gallup, eh
- Corrosionx, on 11/07/2007, -0/+1Without the IRS, the government wouldn't be able to fleece the people into paying insane amount of interests on our national debt and our crappy debt-based currency!! What would we do then??
- LuaPron, on 11/07/2007, -0/+1One way to get bias in polling is to look only at an old "registered republicans" list. Since many of Ron Paul's supporters are registering republican to push him through the primary, it would seem reasonable to believe that they would not show up on many of the polls. I'm not sure about this interpretation, since I have no idea how to check which list of republicans they use for polling.
The 2-5% polling numbers might be indicative of the list of republicans that vote in the 2006 congressional elections. By that time, most of republicans that got sick of the Iraq war where out and voting for democrats. If they are basing their polls on that sample, then there would definitely be a pro-Bush bias to the voters.
The only reason this is even an issue to consider when interpreting polls is the effect the Iraq war has on the republican party. If the people weren't as divided over Iraq, then a 5% poll on 2006 republican voters would indicate low support amongst prospective republican primary voters.
I once thought that the low polling numbers where indicative of low support. I am uncertain now, since I have no idea when the list of "registered republicans" the polls are working off of. I don't yet claim to know what they are actually doing, I just have doubt about the polling. - SiNN4R, on 11/07/2007, -0/+1Jesus Christ people its ncurses. I still can't believe how easy it is to troll on the internet.
- enki25, on 11/07/2007, -0/+1But you won't, because winning an election requires reaching people who are not as informed as you are, which requires media air time on the major networks. This is why politics pisses so many people off, because you have to reach the lowest common denominator to stand a chance. Sure you can get 30% of youth on the internet or whatever to think Ron Paul will cure civilization. They represent under 5% of the voting population in this country, so it's close to irrelevant if that's all you've got.
- JiveDadson, on 11/09/2007, -1/+1Chill out everyone. This is just a rumor. The campaign is aware of it. It is extremely important not to make enemies in the Iowa GOP. Please do not call or write. Blowback happens. Don't let it happen to you.
- Corrosionx, on 11/06/2007, -3/+3They are using the Old People Poll

- biggsdarklight, on 11/07/2007, -2/+2Right but the article is incorrect based on the benchmarks set. Paul is not polling at 5% in either of those polls and he needs to in order to be included.
- Corrosionx, on 11/07/2007, -5/+5So we should just crash and burn with the dollar without looking at any alternatives? This is worst than apathy, it's self-destructive.
- ncairns, on 11/06/2007, -4/+3Yeah, because only 99% of the country still uses landlines.
- inactive, on 11/07/2007, -4/+3Hint: That was stupid and wrong the first time you posted it. They purposely interview people from every demographic for those polls.
- reed311, on 11/08/2007, -12/+11"Ron Paul has more supporters than all the candidates combined"...
Oh, are you in for a rude awakening come primaries. - ncairns, on 11/07/2007, -2/+1"Tancredo and Hunter didn't just raise $4.2 million in one day which is the single day online fundraising record."
And that would be very nice if the standard being used pertained to fundraising. Incidentally, however, it doesn't. Duncan Hunter and Tom Tancredo are both polling well within the margin of error from Ron Paul - which, given their relatively small fundraising numbers, seems to suggest that they're actually running better campaigns than Paul. None of the three have met the criteria however, which doesn't only use the Fox poll, but also that of one of the largest newspapers in Iowa.
Tell me, what makes me a troll? Is it the fact that I express a sentiment other than a desire to enthusiastically fellate Ron Paul in an airport men's room? Why are you trying to suppress my opinion? Are you some kind of fascist? - cybercerebral, on 11/16/2007, -1/+0Well i just talked to Ron Paul's representatives, and they said that the Iowa debate is canceled for other reasons. But that Ron Paul was going to be on the debate because he was above 5% on the polls they were averaging anyway.
- Corrosionx, on 11/07/2007, -2/+1What's wrong with legalizing a competing currency? Don't you have any trust in your dollar's strenght? Of course you don't. Deep down you're afraid people will lose confidence in the dollar and see it for its true value, and you are right: they will. So what do we do now, do we keep our heads in the sand and pretend nothing wrong is happening?
But nice arguments there, "serious lead poisoning and on the verge of mental retardation". Very intellectual. -
