- Minarchian, on 01/11/2008, -13/+36Paul has completely and thoroughly repudiated these newsletters on CNN, even Blitzer agrees that these can't be Paul's words.
http://www.digg.com/2008_us_elections/CNN_Ron_Paul ... - etherreal, on 01/11/2008, -7/+20It is really the lamest smear campaign I have ever seen.
- ColumbusRep, on 01/11/2008, -7/+19He didn't wrote those words and he denounced Racism.
- 4344739, on 01/11/2008, -3/+13You guys are pathetic. With everything that's at stake in America right now, for all that Ron Paul stands for, _this_ matters more to you?
Iraq war.. bankrupt economy.. loss of civil liberties.. nah, ***** it, some doofus wrote a lousy article for Ron Paul 15 years ago, let's crucify him. Your priorities are seriously screwed up. - waterloo, on 01/11/2008, -1/+11It says here that Paul voted for MLK JR holiday (is this correct?) http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements ...
By the way McCain Voted against MLK jr day.
Ron Paul had a minority stake in the news letter and was busy with other things at the time. I am sure they went through many articles specifically looking for some stuff to nail Paul with. The majority of the newsletters didn't have these issues, so they probably slipped by Paul. His was an error in judgment, however, it was minor compared to the error in judgment of those he is running against. Their error of judgment has caused over one hundred thousand deaths. This war is racist and this legal system is racist. So if Paul is racist he is still the least racist of the lot. - Vill4no, on 01/11/2008, -2/+9So you're going to tell me that Oprah reads every single article in "O".
News broke out on this 15 years ago, the editor found out and people were fired. Ron Paul had already repudiated these allegations then as well, but Big Media just had to get something on Paul so they came up with this. Remember Howard Dean's scream played over and over, then followed by reports that he suffered anxiety? - inactive, on 01/11/2008, -2/+8im glad they did this now.. it is old news.... will be a distant memory when things really matter.
- Pebcak, on 01/11/2008, -3/+9So I guess you haven't heard or read about his thoughts on collectivism? What about MLK and Ghandi? No? Thought so.
- waterloo, on 01/11/2008, -0/+5So if politifact is correct then that would make it clear that Paul didn't write this.
- waterloo, on 01/11/2008, -0/+5Does that read like Paul's writing style to you?
- metapop, on 01/11/2008, -0/+4viper- i think it's unfortunate that these newsletters were published at all- and very unfortunate that they were tied to ron paul's name. from what i know about ron paul, this truly goes against his grain- i sincerely don't believe that his character permits him to promote such vile ideas. i don't believe that ignorance is an excuse, but i can also think of times i've been misunderstood in the past- however obviously not on this level. as a ron paul supporter, i feel sad that the man i so strongly believe in as the best candidate to solve this nation's problems has been dragged into this mess, i sincerely hope this is a big misunderstanding. i appreciate your honesty and candor.
michael - inactive, on 01/11/2008, -5/+8he is fine.. this is nothing. will be forgotten soon. yawn.
- Midoc, on 01/11/2008, -13/+16Give it up already, no matter who wrote it, Ron Paul's name was attached to those documents an he knew that he was having his name attached. It's his own fault for not making sure that it wasn't going to offend everyone. Ignorance is not an excuse.
- metapop, on 01/11/2008, -0/+2i also think it's unfortunate you got dugg down as it adds insult to injury. ron paul supporters, this is unnecessary.
- THEROC, on 01/11/2008, -0/+2I know he's not a racist, but i digg anyway. Let's have another globalist lapdog in the white house.
John Clintama 08. - PATSCRU, on 01/11/2008, -2/+3How is it a smear campaign if it's scans of publicly available newsletters published under his name? Paulites are really grasping at straws here....
- Minarchian, on 01/11/2008, -2/+2Uh..try 1990/1991 the crap was in the newsletters
- coryking, on 01/11/2008, -4/+3The best part about paul tards is they bury every comment that disagrees with them (no matter how well reasoned) into the floor. You cannot argue with these people, they just don't want to listen. It is like all the splintered and isolated kook bubbles found one jackass to rally around.
- coryking, on 01/11/2008, -5/+4The best part is all of it is true! Hardly a smear campaign.
- notmike721, on 01/11/2008, -2/+1He is a nut, and travels in the same circles as other nuts?
- notmike721, on 01/11/2008, -4/+3He can't name the authors of the articles becuase a. He wouldn't denounce them publicly or they work in his campaign or b. he doesn't know who they are. Either way he is either a. racist/crazy or b. incompetent.
- coryking, on 01/11/2008, -5/+3Um, try 20 years of lousy articles my friend. Twenty years. I'd hardly say not wanting a racist, or somebody clueless enough to butcher their name by letting trash get published under it for 20 years, is something that makes me screwed up.
- coryking, on 01/11/2008, -5/+3You telling me this will be forgotten if he actually had a chance at being president? You telling me at a *real* presidential debate, this will not be the *key* issue that he'll get beat up on by Hillary or Obama? You think he can live this down?
Those letters are political and career suicide. Ronny boy is gone pal. Anybody who writes hate filled crap like that should be punched in the face very, very hard. ***** racist, homophobic hicks. - ranchnoodles, on 01/11/2008, -2/+0Got any links for that?
- LloydBentsen, on 01/11/2008, -4/+1I like Ron Paul, but from an outside standpoint, I think you're right. This "macaca incident" came too late in the game, sadly.
- PATSCRU, on 01/11/2008, -4/+1Why is he defending racists? Why won't he reveal the identities of these so-called "ghost-writers" He is either guilty of writing these letters, or complicit in them.
- notmike721, on 01/11/2008, -7/+3Thats a good point, Mincharian. Like when Paul takes money from racists and then half-heartedly says, oh well I don't want to give it back, they gave me their money. Weak.
- ranchnoodles, on 01/11/2008, -5/+1It's still game over man.
- coryking, on 01/11/2008, -7/+2"In 1990, big star or not, you're not supposed to express such sentiments about Official Victims. So CBS forced him [andy roony] into an apologetic interview with The Advocate, a homosexual magazine filled with classified ads for pervert prostitutes.
The reporter -- who certainly had an axe to grind, and that's not easy with a limp wrist--claimed that Roony said "I've believed all along that most people are born with equal intelligence, but blacks have watered down their geners because the less intelligent ones are the ones that have the most children." He is also charged with saying that blacks drop out of school, have illegitimate children, and use drugs out of all proportion to their numbers.
Roony denied making the remarks (**although only in today's crazed environment could such statements get you in trouble***) and the gay reporter had no tape recorder, yet CBS took his word over their 41-year employee."
http://www.tnr.com/downloads/March1990.pdf
Tell me that doesn't make the hair stand up on your back. Especially the part where I added emphasis. He is basically saying that the comments made by Andy Roony were something that people *should* be able to make. What a jackass. Sorry guys, Paul is done for. - coryking, on 01/11/2008, -7/+2Surely you have to admit that a Howard Dean's scream is nothing compared to the racist, homophobic filth in those letters. I mean, surely even you can see that difference, right?
- drcortezphd, on 01/11/2008, -5/+0"In 1988, when I ran for president on the Libertarian Party ticket, I was berated for hours by LP members because I had refused to vote, while in Congress, for a Martin Luther King national holiday.
I didn't know then about his plagarism, but the rest of King's crimes were clear. J. Edgar Hoover once called him "the most dangerous man in America." Who could have known the danger would continue after his death and threaten to strangle our culture?"
http://www.tnr.com/downloads/January91.pdf (page 4) - coryking, on 01/11/2008, -8/+2Hardly. This is the end of his run for president. There is no way he'll live down those letters. If he ever made it past the primaries, whatever democrat will have a very easy time winning. All they have to do is point those letters out and he is toast.
You think he'll be able to save his face on a presidential debate? You think the question of those letters would come up continually during one? - drcortezphd, on 01/11/2008, -6/+0It's got his name on the top of it, what more do you want?
- notmike721, on 01/11/2008, -9/+2You people don't get it, Ron Paul isn't racist, he is incompetent as a leader. Its just like Bush. Bush is so dumb and stupid he lets Cheney run his government just let Ron Paul will let anyone publish almost anything under his name for a profit.
- Jesse, on 01/11/2008, -10/+3I think you're missing the point. His name is attached to the words and the paper. Until the unearth the true author (if it isn't Paul), then he by all intents and purposes, those are his words.
- inactive, on 01/11/2008, -9/+1LOL @ Ron Paul...
- chaosium, on 01/11/2008, -12/+4"he invested money in the company that published them, he took profits from that company"
Hey truther *****...
FOLLOW
THE
MONEY - Jesse, on 01/11/2008, -15/+4In any case, the election is over for Paul. Unless he successfully weathers this storm, so is a future political career.
*****' idiot, when you run for President they unearth everything. What were you thinking? - viper9864, on 01/11/2008, -17/+5This is what I email to Aaron@infowars.com yesterday:
Aaron,
I used to be a Ron Paul supporter until July 2007 when I found out about his past racism. However, I believe people evolve and people with good character will denounce what they supported in the past. So, since July, I've been blogging and digging in a way to encourage Ron Paul to at least disavow (if he refuses to admit) his past that is in evidence (see the attached). For Ron Paul at this point to support Civil Rights Act and to denounce White Nationalism publicly would be a sufficient response to this negative backdrop for him.
Instead, we see Ron Paul and his supporters denying incontrovertable evidence of past racism (which also implies current covert racism). This, as a sophisticated intelligent black american, I find more offensive than overt racism. So, my opposition to Ron Paul is at its maximum until he not only apologize for his past but more importantly repent for doing it again - Jesse, on 01/11/2008, -17/+4Really, what can he say? Either he wrote those words and is a bigot, or he didn't write them and is a complete idiot. Either way, he's unelectable.
I really think it's a stretch to believe that he didn't know at least the gist of what his paper was saying under his name. Even if they were ghostwritten, the person who wrote them tried to do it in a way that would make a reader think they were reading Paul's own words. What the ***** does that say about Paul? - inactive, on 01/11/2008, -26/+12Just because Ron Paul repudiated the newsletters doesn't mean anything. He's lying. His name was on them, he invested money in the company that published them, he took profits from that company and he has admitted to writing some articles for the newsletters. Damage control's not working, Minarchian. The problem is just too big for a small person like you.
