- xDemosthenes, on 05/15/2009, -5/+32Gets you thinking, and he raises good points.
- inactive, on 05/15/2009, -6/+25Wow!
Would the rest of you idiots in the Congress please listen to this man? ! - mrukz, on 05/15/2009, -0/+18I do not agree with Ron Paul on everything, but at least he has the balls to say it how it is. We need more congressmen like him.
- Alem800, on 05/15/2009, -4/+20Ron Paul; a Hero among crooks.
- henri3, on 05/15/2009, -8/+22Digg for Ron Paul!!!
- inactive, on 05/15/2009, -4/+16And you know so much more about it.
Talking to WalMart shoppers is a great way to get an education in foreign affairs.
LMAO! - Waiting2awake, on 05/15/2009, -3/+12Cafe - Don't engage the trolls. You know NoLib has never met a boot he didn't have the urge to lick, you know he and you are on opposite ends of the freedom spectrum... and you also know that NoLib is really a closeted RP fan, and until he accepts that within himself, nothing can be done for him....
So I ask you Caferrell, why bother? - Waiting2awake, on 05/15/2009, -0/+8As individuals we will never agree 100% with any other person, all the time. The best we can hope for is that their values, philosophy and outlook of life is in line with ours.
- shig, on 05/15/2009, -1/+8His constituents, obviously.
- Waiting2awake, on 05/15/2009, -4/+10only people that care about balance in DC - in other words, clearly not you.
- chesterogilvie, on 05/15/2009, -2/+8During the 2008 Presidential campaign I called NPR asking why Obama was being considered the anti-war candidate when Ron Paul was the true anti-war candidate. The response I got was, "Ron Paul is a racist, I urge you to vote for someone else". It was pretty easy to see that Obama wasn't going to make any serious changes.
- johnnyg113, on 05/15/2009, -1/+7Now you're just making stuff up caferrell. Ajajadude never said that or even hinted to that, but it's obvious that's the response you wanted to hear.
Anyone that complains Obama has lied about his war stance is ignorant or wasn't listening. Obama campaigned on withdrawing from Iraq and increasing troops in Afghanistan. If you disagree with this, fine, but Obama has done so far exactly what he said he would.
Also, it should be noted many Democrat's were frustrated with the Iraq war because we were lied to about WMDs to start it and there was never any reason we should of been fighting there as it had nothing to do with Al Qaeda or 9/11. There are also many liberals who are completely anti-war and are upset that Obama is pushing into Afghanistan. Not everything is black and white like you want it to be. - Jordan117, on 05/15/2009, -2/+8Why do so many people insist on putting words in Obama's mouth? He never campaigned as an anti-war candidate. He was anti-Iraq. But he did explicitly state many times that he intended to draw down the war in Iraq in order to ramp up efforts in Afghanistan, which was a far more justified and sensible conflict that most of the world supported.
From a speech of his in 2002:
"I know that even a successful war against Iraq will require a US occupation of undetermined length, at undetermined cost, with undetermined consequences. I know that an invasion of Iraq without a clear rationale and without strong international support will only fan the flames of the Middle East, and encourage the worst, rather than best, impulses of the Arab world, and strengthen the recruitment arm of al-Qaeda.
I am not opposed to all wars. I’m opposed to dumb wars.
So for those of us who seek a more just and secure world for our children, let us send a clear message to the president today. You want a fight, President Bush? Let’s finish the fight with Bin Laden and al-Qaeda, through effective, coordinated intelligence, and a shutting down of the financial networks that support terrorism, and a homeland security program that involves more than color-coded warnings."

Note that final paragraph. He specifically states that he wants to continue the fight against al-Qaeda, which is camped out along the Afghan-Pakistani border. - drmangrum, on 05/15/2009, -1/+6It still infuriates me how the media wrote Ron Paul off. He would have been a FAR stronger republican candidate than McCain and far better president than Obama. He's one of the few politicians that seems to actually care about his country and displays courage of conviction.
- dave122, on 05/15/2009, -1/+6don't blame me, i voted for ron paul.
- plainOldFool, on 05/15/2009, -1/+5I do
- craigm01, on 05/15/2009, -3/+7What's a few billion more dollars to expand on our failed foreign policy? Beggar the Republic, in an attempt to spread democracy to a part of the world that does not want it.
But hey, the Saudi's and the Chinese will buy our debt, and we can always print more money if that fails. (probably not a bad idea to start learning Mandarin..) Anyways, I feel sorry for the generations of Americans yet to come, they will inherit a truly ***** up country.. - AnotherDiggGuy, on 05/15/2009, -0/+4Most people realize the media is a joke.
Anyone remember the media accusations of Russia invading Georgia and killing 1,500 people? It's proven fact the Georgian army killed those people. Yet the media (for whatever corrupt reasons) decided it was more beneficial to accuse Russia of being the aggressor. - inactive, on 05/15/2009, -1/+4Uh..... the Chinese and the Saudis aren't buying any more debt.
The Fed is buying the debt. The Treasury prints bonds and gives them to the Fed, then someone at the Fed sits down at a keyboard and invents billions of dollars that magically appear in the Federal checkbook.
@craigm01, you probably know this, but others might not - vyhd, on 05/15/2009, -2/+5"we would be fighting fewer wars", actually. When referring to a lesser amount of discrete units, one should always use "fewer". :)
- inactive, on 05/15/2009, -0/+3Someone from NPR actually told you that Ron Paul is racist and that you should vote for someone else?
- neoneddy, on 05/15/2009, -0/+3where can you buy those bumper stickers?
- inactive, on 05/15/2009, -0/+2OK, why bother?
- chesterogilvie, on 05/15/2009, -0/+2It was actually a guest during the "On Point" segment. Not sure who it was but I was pretty pissed that I didn't have a chance to respond.
- AnotherDiggGuy, on 05/15/2009, -2/+4"But he did explicitly state many times that he intended to draw down the war in Iraq in order to ramp up efforts in Afghanistan"
Please explain to me what makes that a strategic move. The media and most liberals have been on a 7 year offensive to claiming the Iraq war was unnecessary. That said, why continue the war through your 1st presidential term if the war was never even necessary? If troops are being killed for senseless reasons, why let that keep happening for a few more years? - chesterogilvie, on 05/15/2009, -1/+3Obama was portrayed as THE anti-war candidate by the media. As you pointed out, this was never the case but people believed what they were told. Now they're feeling the consequences of being spoon-fed info from the media instead of doing their own research. The true anti-war candidate was called an isolationist, and people swallowed that up happily.
- ctiger2, on 05/16/2009, -0/+1Ron Paul is the leader of the Republican party. The GOP just don't want to admit it. By 2011 they will have no choice but to surrender the party to Ron Paul.
- Ajajadude, on 05/15/2009, -7/+8Well, given that Obama never said we'd be pulling out of Iraq and Afghanistan immediately, I'm not sure where he's getting his info from. Obama has merely shifted focus back to where we should have been looking all along.
He seems to always raise "good" points, but I don't really see him coming up with actual and practical solutions to these problems. - inactive, on 05/15/2009, -5/+6I just added you as a friend. Anybody with that name has to have some ideas.
- JJDiggle, on 05/15/2009, -2/+3It's not what he thinks, it's that it's him thinking it. If it were your prefered parasite with Ron Paul's track record of accuracy, & honesty, you'd laugh at the fools ignoring him, too.
Bush + war or torture = upset democrats, and neocons making excuses.
Obama + war or torture = upset neocons, and democrats making excuses.
The constant? Hypocritical, ignorant, partisan, fools such as yourself focusing on nonsense, & ignoring the truth Ron Paul has been speaking for decades. - inactive, on 05/15/2009, -1/+1Digg commenter: Thought new submission WOULD BE MAKING GRAMMATICAL SENSE
- dshPls, on 05/15/2009, -5/+4Ron Paul never has a plan. If we just withdrew from the Middle East what do you think would happen? Paul just loves to point fingers and complain but never offers up a solution to what he's bitching about. He's less relevant than ever now though, so who really cares about his anti-everything viewpoints.
- inactive, on 05/15/2009, -7/+5Here we go. War is bad, unless the Democrats wage it.
You are morally bankrupt compadre. - Jordan117, on 05/15/2009, -3/+1Because once the war was launched and the local government toppled, we could not simply walk away from it. Abandoning the country ASAP would be as shortsighted and irresponsible as starting the war in the first place. As Obama has said, "We need to be as careful getting out of Iraq as we were careless getting in."
- inactive, on 05/15/2009, -8/+1Obama is worse than Bush
- sultanknish, on 05/15/2009, -18/+8Would someone give Ron Paul his medication already
- NoLibertarians, on 05/15/2009, -13/+3That would be tough since I haven't been in a Walmart for 20 years. Now Caffee how could I possibly work at Walmart when you claim I'm here all the time? I wish you would make up your mind. Kids! I take it you know who the other nut was that said we could just walk out of Iraq? LOL, he's your buddy..
- wisedude, on 05/15/2009, -20/+7Who cares what Ron Paul thinks
- NoLibertarians, on 05/15/2009, -29/+3Why would he think that? He had to know both he and Obama were full of ***** about just walking out of Iraq!
