- V3n0M, on 05/10/2008, -5/+14The Browns didn't pay their taxes so the SWAT Team arrived at their door. They weren't there to deliver flowers! If you don't pay your taxes, it isn't just the "moral equivalent" you literally get a gun to your head!
One shouldn't have any *legal* obligation to pay for those less fortunate - charity should be voluntary, not forced through threats of violence. In the absence of government collected funds, true charitable donations increase to levels beyond what the government takes by force.

I understood the tax game as a kid, the more you earn the more they take, until you can overcome the impossible hurdle of over 100,000 per year, then the percentage drops drastically. it is intentionally set up to keep a "littler" person down.
the very wealthy (induvidual or corporate entity) more often owe their successes to the support (or deception) of the public, with a much smaller percentage returned to the people, even though these high incomes are a very, very small percentage of voters.
the same wealth has more influence over non productive government overseers have de-industrialized the US, which has dropped wages and availability of work and making "gainful employment" extremely scarce (as the fed devaluates the money by excessive printing). by doing this they have reduced their own tax revenue base, less people making less money paying less in taxes... but they dont care, instead they go on out and borrow to fund themselves in an illegal war in the middle east, and expand the hell out of a police state control grid with camera's everywhere, "legalized" indescriminant wire tapping, torture and execution of the public with tazers, all by the same MF's that made us overall more unemployed, justified by a war on terrorism, a war on drugs, both just codewords for war upon the people.
paying taxes is paying tribute to this system that is in the business of taking things away from us anymore, selling/leasing publicly funded highways to foreign interests who put up tollbooths, selling state lotteries, water companies and water rights, power/utility companies, to foreign interests, with all this crap theyre pulling by all rights there should be a great income tax refusal/protest, we are not represented, we are exploited, even by force. the same government is now also hiring/funding mercenaries, advertizing to hire for more brownshirt "homeland security" positions. face it, police, lawyers, judges, and politicians, are non-productive and more often just in the business of taking money for other peoples miseries.

I've seen two star reviews of the book (that specifically reference it) that have been removed because the Paulites are marking them as "inappropriate".

So, for how much assets and debt is this piddly $40.2 billion counted as its "reserves"? Doug Noland, in his Credit Bubble Bulletin at PrudentBear.com, reports that bank credit alone is $8.923 trillion. And how fast is bank credit growing? "Bank credit," says Mr Noland, "is now up $280 billion over the past 10 weeks, with a $627bn, or 10.1% annualized, y-t-d gain", while "Loans & Leases surged $25.9bn to a record $6.574 TN (10-wk gain of $249bn)."
So it looks like about $15.4 trillion in bank assets and liabilities is being backed up by a minuscule $40.2 billion! That's a microscopic 0.0026%. A quarter of 1%! Hahahaha! Fractional reserve banking at its finest! Hahahaha! - PeppermintPig, on 05/11/2008, -4/+6-1 diggs, I guess that's a 'hello'.
