- EntropyMan, on 10/11/2007, -11/+291Ron Paul came off very well by the end of the interview. But he's making a classic mistake. Just because he knows he's right (and he is), he assumes the truth will somehow prevail.
He has to learn from Kerry's mistakes (and Clinton's success) that you have to hit back against the GOP just as hard as you get hit, not simply smile and tell the truth when people misrepresent and refuse to listen.
He needs to point out that Guiliani did worse than not read the 911 report. Guiliani actively distorted it, feigned "outrage" on behalf of all "9/11 survivors," and completely misrepresented Paul's position, as did Fox and even CNN.
Guiliani's firm made $100M consulting on terrorism. If he doesn't even know what blowback is, he ought to refund his clients in full. He's clearly been giving them the wrong information all this time.
Claiming that Paul blames the American people is part of his clear pattern of "boogie-man" deception, claiming that if we elect the "wrong" people we will surely die.
Truth is, if we elect the _wrong_ people, we may soon be enslaved. But that's exactly what we're talking about under a Guiliani administration -- the illusion of safety through government oppression -- better to be safe than, you know, free.
If Paul can't hit back, he's not going to make it very far. If he doesn't define himself, Fox and friends will do it for him any way they please. And as we've seen, they're already calling him a Truther in the worst possible way.
But at least he's got 'em scared. That's a start. But he's got his work cut out for him. I wish him the best of luck. - jimmydemoret, on 10/11/2007, -14/+235Thank you so much for sharing this video, it is priceless, peace...
- SuperMoses, on 10/11/2007, -10/+224Once again Ron Paul educates the media and Giuliani. They should be embarrassed that this so called "fringe" candidate continues to school them in politics and American history.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -4/+185I'm a left-wing Liberal and I'm rooting for a Republican from Texas... something is seriously wrong with me.
- masamunecyrus, on 10/11/2007, -13/+191This definitely needs to reach the front page. It's the only sane thing I've heard all day, and it'd be hard to call something from CNN 'just another Ron Paul spam'.
- vanadium77, on 10/11/2007, -9/+176If people really want to help Ron Paul, Diggers, take this offline and start contacting your local media; write letters to the editor, visit political groups, talk to fellow Republicans (and other parties), and get this ball rolling.
Get involved and make a difference. Our country needs it. Even if he doesn't win the nomination, his ideas will carry onward in the hearts and minds of voters through the 2008 election.
But, with that in mind, fight to win. - painted82, on 10/11/2007, -23/+161Ron Paul > All other republican candidates combined
Simple math involving flawless logic... If you disagree, you're obviously a retard or an NWO puppet like Hannity and Guiliani! - cowbot, on 10/11/2007, -4/+137The attack against Ron is just beginning. Just recently Michigan GOP party chairman Saul Anuzis called to bar Ron Paul from future debates. Do you think Ron Paul should be allowed on future debates? Email and call Saul Anuzis and tell him what you think about his attempt to silence this man. http://www.migop.org/contact_us.asp Phone Number: 517-487-5413 Fax: 517-487-0090
- TomWestbrook, on 10/11/2007, -4/+133Giuliani - READ THE REPORT! He's supposed to be the 911 expert yet he hasn't even read the report! If we're going to have a president that will put American Lives at risk, then we need someone that has at least done their homework. Ron Paul is the most intelligent and qualified candidate to lead this country and he's done his homework!
- RonPaulPres2008, on 10/11/2007, -6/+126Ron Paul wasn't misunderstood at all. Guliani tried to twist peoples perceptions by bringing up emotional *****. Anyone with half a brain (discounts half of America) can see that Guliani is just trying to turn what Ron Paul said which is pretty much common sense, into something negative and anti-American by bringing up emotional *****. What a rat. It's just like him to take that opportunity.
- painted82, on 10/11/2007, -9/+128Did anybody see the caption that says "Blaming The US for 9/11"?
***** CNN, these guys are as bad as fox... they're just more sneaky about it... ***** little biatches!!!!! - axiomata, on 10/11/2007, -7/+120One of the best Ron Paul interviews I have seen.
- sonaro, on 10/11/2007, -11/+115Excuse us for trying to save the country.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -6/+100Wait...so Digg actually likes a republican candidate?
- zweben, on 10/11/2007, -8/+98He's way too reasonable to be a politician. I don't get it.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -5/+91Rudy is a Fake! He is all talk when it comes to America. He's detrimental to all of our well being. Ultimately, he is a war profiteer.
- dave11980, on 10/11/2007, -4/+85@wren5
Sorry but you just showed how much of a dumb ass you are. Ron Paul did nothing but cite the 9/11 commission report and Giuliani said he had never heard that and tried to make him look bad over it. Ask me it makes Giuliani look a lot worse and a lot dumber. - dilpil1, on 10/11/2007, -6/+83Im a democrat (well, further left than most democrats really), but Ill certainly vote for Ron if he gets nominated. He... actually has integrity. He debates with... rationality and not emotional appeals. Its as if he is... an intelligent human being not owned by corporations.
- smackywentz, on 10/11/2007, -7/+83I swear if the RAT, Giuliani, wins I'm quitting school and starting the revolution.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -6/+81Dr Ron Paul is the only candiate that seems remotely trustworthy.
- spurtle, on 10/11/2007, -4/+78"Wait...so Digg actually likes a republican candidate?"
If the guy has integrity, why not?
The reason for most anti-Republicanism nowadays is because of the corrupt slime balls of the party in power. I was bashing Clinton way back when over Whitewater, and even yes, the Lewinsky issue, however the guy in office now has taken Clinton's weaseliness and skeeziness to a whole other level.
Give me a someone with integrity and who would stick to the ideals to which this country was founded upon and I will vote and support him or her whether he or she be Republican, Democrat, Libertarian, Right to Life, Pro Choice, Green, Purple, Brown, or Fuchsia. - zovres, on 10/11/2007, -4/+77it's easier to hide behind patriotism. I'm digging you down because your argument is irrational. Not for anything else. If you can't (or refuse to) understand the history between the US and the Middle East you shouldn't bother to involve yourself in the discussion. - jstanden, on 10/11/2007, -9/+74@kamic:
Well I'm sorry we're not up to your standards.
You're welcome to ignore this NEWS story and return to digging your usual articles about crap covered apartments, or billboards with carrots aimed at behinds. - DragonGirl724, on 10/11/2007, -5/+68The power behind this man's determination is unfaltering! :) I can't wait for the Ron/Rudy debate. Those neo-cons are not ready for what Paul has in store for them!! There is hope for America, it's in the hands of Ron Paul and in his supporters!!! Keep it up DIGGers!!! :)
- Starks, on 10/11/2007, -8/+64I may be a Democrat, but Ron Paul is perhaps the smartest Republican running for president.
- Loonacy, on 10/11/2007, -4/+58Wow, talk about ego.
"I alone have the power to move the base."
Rush sure thinks highly of himself. - jeanette3654, on 10/11/2007, -4/+53guiliani will NEVER debate Dr. Paul! He can't afford to look even more sinister and stupid than he already does. Seriously, I try not to judge people on their appearance, rather I listen to their words and watch their actions, but there's just something about giuliani that makes my skin crawl.
- TomWestbrook, on 10/11/2007, -7/+55Don't wait...we need you...America needs you! Switch parties, many are doing it. It's not much of a sacrifice for your country. This is not about part politics its about saving America. PLEASE PLEASE.
- ecorona, on 10/11/2007, -4/+49The neocons that control Fox News are going to raise hell to never allow to get Ron Paul elected. I swear, it's as if Ron Paul is the one guy that they forgot to payoff and now their only option is to make sure he doesn't get elected.
- MaximusIGN, on 10/11/2007, -4/+49Ron Paul put it perfectly. Questioning foreign policy is not unpatriotic. It's not the USA that is to blame for bad foreign policy. It's a few people in power that are destroying the country and taking all Americans with them. It's insane that we're willing to bite our nose to spite our face.
Yes America is a great country.
No, not every president has made the right call.
We don't need to destroy the country to protect the poor judgement of one person. - polyGone, on 10/11/2007, -3/+48Paul blamed our _policies_, not our people. If you don't like dissent, maybe America is the wrong country for you.
- jmaresca, on 10/11/2007, -12/+56He's not just a politician. He's a Libertarian.
- vanadium77, on 10/11/2007, -3/+46Ron Paul's statement on racism, April 16, 2007: http://www.house.gov/paul/tst/tst2007/tst041607.htm
- buff01, on 10/11/2007, -5/+47I am switching back to Repub. to vote for Dr. Paul (I left the party after I realized what the neocons had done to it).... we need to do anything we can to support him. He is the only choice left for honesty and integrity in the white house.
- handsoffme, on 10/11/2007, -3/+43@mv10
You're right, and that definitely had me suspicious at first; but the fact of the matter is, until Ron Paul can get some mainstream media support, getting the word out to online communities is his best bet. The spam has definitely died down a bit lately and there are more and more legitimate articles about him. The mainstream media is slowly being forced to turn their attention to him, even if it is in a negative manner.
I don't condone the spamming, but I am impressed with its success, and as far as fringe candidates go I think Ron Paul is doing a pretty good job of handling the medias attack on him. I hope there is a chance that he can prevail without having to resort to the negative tactics of his opponents. - poop69, on 10/11/2007, -5/+45Lets start an organization called "Democrats for Ron Paul"
- zovres, on 10/11/2007, -4/+43***** this is insane! I don't have a TV but now I understand why people say FOX is biased. I've never seen anything like it.
- jibbityjab, on 10/11/2007, -3/+41Fox Insanity! They are now connecting Paul to 9/11 Conspiracies.
http://digg.com/politics/FOX_News_Does_It_Again_Video_Link - zovres, on 10/11/2007, -2/+40I thought I'd never vote republican after what they did but this guys is really cool. Seriously though this party needs a witch hunt, so many ***** liars hiding behind patriotism.
- painted82, on 10/11/2007, -5/+43That's not the politician though. That's just how disgusting American politics has become.
The moment Ron Paul mentions Israel, he will be labeled as a tin foil hat conspiracy theorist who hates jews. It's not Ron Paul's fault at all.... This country is so ***** messed up that it refuses to listen to reason and truth... it can only take a little bit of it at a time. :P - InetRoadkill, on 10/11/2007, -5/+41Giuliani can't think outside pre-programmed republican talking points. It's pretty damn obvious he has no clue about the history of US involvement in the middle east over the last 60 years. Ron Paul is a breathe of fresh air for the GOP. He is the first one in a very long time that's willing to stick his neck out and address facts, ugly as they may be.
The fact that the other GOP candidates have chosen to hide behind talking points rather than acknowledge that what Paul is saying is essentially correct demonstrates to me that they are either cowards or totally clueless.
Ron Paul might actually get me to support the GOP once again. I view Paul as a litmus test for the GOP. If the GOP decides to crucify Paul for embracing reality, I won't support them. If they chose to acknowledge that our foreign policy is flawed and potentially destructive to our long-term interests, then I'll reconsider my support.
If the GOP decides to boot Ron Paul, I would encourage him to run as an independent. Perhaps with Chuck Hagel. - buff01, on 10/11/2007, -2/+38Gigliani being in the city during 9/11 means DICK. What you are claiming is like saying someone shot with a bullet is automatically an expert in guns.
He doesn't know the first thing about international relations. - spyde, on 10/11/2007, -10/+42Someone really needs to exploit what Guiliani said. How should he or anyone be able to get away with ridiculously ignorant, uniformed statements like the ones he made.
"excuse me, I lived through 9/11 as mayor therefore I know they hate us because of our freedom and our women and I am expert of foreign policy"
This is completely and utterly retarded. Besides the fact that Ron owned his ass by stating facts, I'm sure Osama bin Laden could give two ***** about our freedom; logic tells me this. He has billions of dollars and is the most infamous dictator in the world. He has the freedom to do whatever he wants. Second, why would the terrorists care about our women. Theirs are oppressed and that's the way they like it. They don't want it to change and it won't, so why would they bomb us because of a weakness they believe we have in our society? - Daunting, on 10/11/2007, -6/+36Ron Paul is a little too reasonable for the American people.
- ramiro, on 10/11/2007, -2/+31Although I do not entirely concur with Ron Paul on this issue, I think he made a good point and that Giuliani and Limbaugh are full of it.
Ron Paul seems to have so much higher integrity than these two.
It was funny when Ron Paul asked the interviewer to ask Giuliani to apologize at the end. - Urusai, on 10/11/2007, -3/+32Giuliani's being in NYC when the planes hit doesn't give him special knowledge. He wasn't in the WTC. He didn't ride on one of the planes. He didn't meet with OBL. He didn't get any special CIA briefings. He is just "playing the 9/11 card", so to speak, his only card.
- nosecohn, on 10/11/2007, -3/+31Yeah, that caption "BLAMING THE U.S. FOR 9/11" in a bigger typeface than any other text for the whole segment, under Ron's face for a full 22 seconds, was just disgusting. CNN knows that a lot of people watch without the sound, so the association is easy to make. Never mind that he didn't actually say that. Disgusting sensationalism and character assassination.
After seeing stuff like this, and the complete lack of any criticisms of the pre-war intelligence, anyone in this country who thinks there's a single mass media outlet that cares about presenting the truth is self deluded.
It's sad. The free press is supposed to be a cornerstone of our democracy, which I guess explains why it's failing. - jambarama, on 10/11/2007, -1/+29Ron Paul has been in the media quite a lot recently. I think networks, though they may not like his "no special interests" policies, are beginning to see that a no-nonsense, clear thinking candidate is what Americans want. In addition to this clip (priceless by the way), he was on CNN when declaring candidacy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EF37-9OGblw, he was on Fox not too long ago: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sceMLhvSRDs, and even Lou Dobbs picked him up recently: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rL8aV7oYJh8.
Regardless of whether I like Fox/CNN, they are giving him *some* attention. If only the local stations and print media would treat him like a real candidate. -
