- SaintMatthew, on 11/09/2007, -133/+684No one cares about your blog dude.
Buried for being you - inactive, on 11/09/2007, -82/+347JammieWF, when will you write about the powerful Ron Paul hackers who ruthlessly manipulated Facebook or MySpace?
FYI -- yesterday -- on MySpace -- Ron Paul passed John McCain on the friends count; currently, Ron Paul has 40229 friends, and John McCain has 38604 friends, so all of those friends/accounts must have been faked, right?
You should do a *BREAKING* story about those shenanigans, before Hannity or Malkin beats you to it. You could be famous!! You could be rich! - jamesallen74, on 11/09/2007, -59/+285So what!!!! There are AT MOST 17 people out there digging every submission they can find on something they are passionate about.
So let's do some math here. If a Ron Paul story has 1600 diggs, ONLY 1583 are legitamite diggs. Oh darn.
1600 would have been impressive, but since only 1583, then it's not really a story (sarcasm).
It's only 17 people folks. Get a life. - Fascist, on 11/09/2007, -21/+195ENOUGH!
It's not about what the crowd thinks.
It's what you think yourself.
Sure, there's manipulation, and it's everywhere. In EVERY channel of media. For all we know, Ron Paul is a hero. For all we know, Ron Paul is a psycho. For all we know, there's a huge army of McCain backers digging down Pro-Ron Paul comments.
Listen up Digg, don't listen to the crowds, formulate an opinion to yourself. - sedatedgodzilla, on 11/09/2007, -11/+97I think it's lame you're fighting a grassroots campaign. Must everyone have 20 million dollars to run for president? I'm not even a RP supporter but I like seeing stories about alternative candidates. Please give it a rest.
- iRomantiK, on 10/11/2007, -7/+88I wouldn't describe 17 diggs as "whopping"
- Akaji, on 10/11/2007, -13/+93I don't think he stands a chance - but you don't support a candidate because you think he will win (this isn't a freaking contest to see who can guess 'right'). Instead, you support the candidate who most agrees with your beliefs, and Ron Paul is that candidate in my case.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -7/+81Yeah, you can click on my name, and look at how many RP articles I dugg, which indicates that I'm a RP spammer. You can also see how many articles about the PS3 I dugg, which indicates that I'm astroturfing for Sony. There were also a bunch of articles about how the new comment system sucks, so I must also work for Slashdot.
- yohnstoppable, on 10/11/2007, -12/+81I agree with SaintMatthew, and don't see why this is getting so many diggs. The story is basically him talking about getting 17 diggs for a story, then linking to a different story. Buried as lame
- stealthc, on 11/09/2007, -12/+78The flock of people in America who still believe in Constitutional government, in property rights and individual sovereignty instead of worshipping the State, have for the time being been transformed into "Ron Paul supporters."
The resistance to his candidacy only comes from those who do not yet understand these concepts, find them threatening to their own state-sponsored cash cows, or have been conditioned all their lives to dismiss the ideas of liberty. In any case, the comparison must be made to the American War for Independence. The vast majority of Americans at the time were barely cognizant of what was going on, and the fighters of the war were the 5% or so of the population who held strong enough convictions to fight for what was right.
They did not waste their time trying to convince the masses. They focused on reasoning out the proper course of action that they--the cognizant ones--could take to secure Liberty. At some point the trespasses of an oppressive government must be resisted directly, no matter how crazy the 95% assume you are. At some point the system itself is irredeemable. At some point you have to give up on the majority.
If Ron Paul does not win the presidency, we have probably reached that point. - SpaceMonkeyZero, on 10/11/2007, -8/+65Stay Classy San Diego.
- wl606, on 10/11/2007, -28/+84Keep quiet. I'm a Democrat, I digg the Ron Paul stories in the hope that it might feck up the Republicans a bit.
- nickem, on 10/11/2007, -13/+65biased, baseless and nincompoopically obfuscated link.
- JDMARK075281, on 10/10/2008, -16/+65Is that all this clown has to say? That people who like Ron Paul support him any way they can? You're trashing people for digging stories about something that's important to them. Whoop-dee doo! This article does NOT deserve to be taken seriously. I'm burying your ass!
- Fordi, on 10/11/2007, -9/+55Buried as dupe.
- keepinithamsta, on 11/09/2007, -7/+53God forbid that people actually care about the politics of their country. At least 95% of the articles they create or digg are about someone else, rather than linking to their own blog.. You'll bad mouth anything that comes across your radar to get more popularity for yourself. Do you even know anything about Ron Paul or the ideas he believes in?
- fej64, on 10/11/2007, -5/+45What's next, a shocking expose about people who digg every Apple/iPhone story that exists!
- inactive, on 11/09/2007, -10/+49Did somebody forget that politics is all hype when running for office? To date, Ron seems to be one of the more level headed individuals in the race, you have liberals and leftists alike intrigued by a conservative and yet we have people trying to debunk what? the idealism that he's popular?
Who cares? As an avid surfer I see Ron Paul articles everywhere, you don't have to tell me with your little at-home science test that thesudden spike in hits to your site are directly correlated with Ron Paul supporters? So what?
Does anyone know how blogs work? This guy does, he wrote an article about Ron Paul (a popular hit, especially if you follow delicious clouds) It's a smart move to bring people to your site and get ad impressions.
That Ron has a legion of internet dark riders spreading the word, overhyping to get attention lol! Of course he does.
Whats your point buddy? Of course the polls differ from the hype (you must be new to this) , It's called CAMPAIGNING!!! - controlguy, on 10/11/2007, -15/+54"BECAUSE THE RON PAUL IDIOTS DUGG IT WITHOUT LOOKING"
I may agree with you on that, and so here's an attempt provide a picture of Ron Paul.
He opposes
* abortion
* gay marriage
* federal influence of education
* the IRS
* income tax
* the "welfare state"
* interventionist foreign policy -- including intervening in the Darfur
* amnesty for illegal immigrants
* the Iraq War
* the Patriot Act
* universal healthcare
* congressional lobbying
You can infer what he supports by this list as well.
OK, now you know. If you support him, vite (or dig) for him. Otherwise, don't vote for him (or bury his stories). - GauteHauk, on 10/11/2007, -19/+58I bury it because it's just more stupid anti-Ron Paul garbage. Do you see Ron Paul people spamming digg about how horrible Barack is? The only people that seem to be so damn hateful are the people who don't like Paul. I have to wonder, why? You can place a filter for Ron Paul messages. Do so. Quit bitching that the site that allows social promotion of ideas is actually having a great turnout of Ron Paul supporters.
- phunlee, on 10/11/2007, -1/+39and if I put "Free Big Boob Pictures" in the title of a digg submission, even with only the "slightest mention" of free big boobs in ma' blogspam post, I bet it gets a few diggs... just a hypothesis, though. maybe I'll create correlations and look like a douche on digg, tho.
- briLo, on 11/09/2007, -11/+48So you're blaming a campaign for getting Digg users to read articles?? ***** great!!!! It's 100% better than sucking off your friends in high places at Fox News, MSNBC, CNN to do it for a handshake and $15,000 (who ironically would love to see you in power so you may pull strings for them).
Time for an about face special interests as I'd rather have a straight shooter like Ron Paul running this country over a media whore and a militant lesbian! - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -4/+41Proof of what??? That Ron Paul supporters support Ron Paul??? Idiot
- rhysmd, on 10/11/2007, -8/+45You're right, we should settle for the mass media supported cliche candidates who will win; and discourage any dialog regarding other people or ideas.
Happy Birthday Declaration of Independence - rhysmd, on 10/11/2007, -12/+49Who diggs their own blog....?
- gypsynuke, on 10/11/2007, -17/+53I'm on the list. Most of the stories I've Dugg have been for Ron Paul. I've read many other articles about him I haven't Dugg. I've read plenty of other articles about other things that are just mundane, not that important to me. How does that translate into a conspiracy or spam? I'm neither in collusion with anyone nor am I running an agenda.
You Digg what you want. I do the same, no conspiracy. I didn't violate the terms of use.
I'm rehashing my defense, which is in the comments of the original article this one is reposting. - rabidsnail, on 10/11/2007, -11/+44The story linked to by the story linked to by this post (since the actual link was bogspam) claims that the Ron Paul upvoting is the result of collusion. This I seriously doubt. The Ron Paul campaign is not at all organized. His website is little more than a press release. The rallies you see are a result of communication on the meetup group, on which the congressman has no control. The image of armies of clickmonkies in cubicles that the poster is trying to convey just doesn't exist. The campaign just can't afford to pay people to do that, and even if they were volunteers they wouldn't be able to afford to have an office for them to work in. These are probably just passionate people who went a little too far. I'm not saying it's okay to digg nothing but Ron Paul stories, or that it's not happening, but I am saying that there is no conspiracy to do so.
- tremor_tj, on 10/11/2007, -1/+33Unfortunately, people believe the "you'll just waste your vote" rhetoric, so vote for one of the supposedly "valid" candidates over and over. Then they bitch about what they get.
- themastersb, on 10/11/2007, -4/+35Why does this story have so many Diggs. Something seems fishy.
- gandhi2, on 10/11/2007, -1/+30Nice to know that we have a policing group who will tell us what is approved to digg and what is not. Why, if you weren't around to inform people on what was spam, the populous would be forced to think for themselves! Think of the consequences!!
- edemerton, on 10/11/2007, -10/+39600+ Diggs later, some people must actually care. Either that, or his story of getting hits for mentioning Ron Paul is very factual.
- crtjer, on 10/11/2007, -10/+38Whether or not the Ron Paul group is exploiting Digg. We are smarter than the public and media knowing that the stories are being manipulated. What is telling all of us of Digg going to do? We already know. More disturbing is the fact that this submitter tried to pawn off his story on his blog by linking. Congratulations, this is why some people are getting sick of Digg. Direct link or go home.
- catalysis, on 10/11/2007, -12/+39I think it's funny that there is a backlash against Ron Paul because he is not a liberal. Lets face it, out of all the repeat topics that get dugg, Ron Paul is the only one rubbing people the wrong way.
You don't see the same backlash against rawstory or crooksandliars spammers when nearly everything posted on those sites make it to the front page. - IceIX, on 10/11/2007, -9/+36That is not conclusive proof of anything. Maybe those mere 17 votes came from people searching for "Ron Paul" who came across your little story and thought it was interesting. That's how Digg works! Buried as inaccurate.
- troglodytejb, on 10/11/2007, -3/+29Yeah, this should really be buried as dupe, since that article was posted within the last day...
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -4/+30Apparently using the digg options menu to stop viewing political stories is too much for some folks. Here's a hint, click profile up at the top.
- reiner15, on 10/11/2007, -1/+26I just have to say at least some people are paying attention to politics and are passionate about it. Forget all the people who bury political news because it's being "spammed". ***** I'm so sick of iPhone ***** being spammed but you don't see me going out of my way to bury it.
To all the people burying, do you know who you're going to vote for? Are you going to vote at all? Just look at what happened the last time no one gave a ***** and who won. - acidkore, on 11/09/2007, -54/+79Someone said I was supposed to bury all Ron Paul stories.
Just doing my part. - Crad906, on 10/11/2007, -3/+27It's not hacking at all. The mainstream media has brainwashed you to believe he is so fringe that if it looks like he has alot of support, its automatically because of spam? ***** you, you're the reason American Democracy is DEAD.
- OiPunk138, on 10/11/2007, -4/+27I'll never get people who don't get the inherent irony of talking about free speech and it's importance while simultaneously telling someone else to stop saying something. Why do you hate reason, rationality, and logic?
- GlenLeafJr, on 10/11/2007, -3/+25Nazi??? WTF???
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -3/+25Yeah? Well, "Buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo" gets 3000+ diggs.
- gandhi2, on 10/11/2007, -1/+21Please don't speak on topics you have absolutely no idea about. The debate on Ron Paul among the (L) party is ongoing and heated. Many Libertarians are upset about the 5% of Republican tendencies he has, many think he will steal the thunder from their nominee, and many, like the submitter, are really tired of hearing the hallelujahs among the choir.
We don't particularly have much commonalities in the small group, but one that we do have is a detestion of just about all government, red, blue, green, or polka dot. - MWeather, on 10/11/2007, -1/+21Always vote for principle. Though you may vote alone, you may cherish the sweetest reflection that your vote is never lost.
- GauteHauk, on 10/11/2007, -0/+18What are you even trying to imply? That these people have interests and they're not your own?
- 5urr3al5am, on 10/11/2007, -3/+21wow.. 'manipulating dig' .. that really throws everything on digg kinda right out the window... that makes me smile... oops gonna get dugg down
- Phyltre, on 10/11/2007, -2/+20Libertarians aren't right-wing. Not anymore.
- 1eye, on 11/09/2007, -21/+38I am not a huge Ron Paul fan, but I am WAY more tired of the "lets impeach Bush" fanboys than the Ron Paul ones. Yes, I know his approval rating is crap, and yes, I know we are in Iraq, but for the love of all that is holy, give it a rest. Can't we have just a little peace on this site. Can't we have one day without someone saying that either Ron Paul or Bush is the Antichrist and everyone having to scream about why it either is or is not the case?
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -4/+21What are you, a bunch of ***** morons???? I BURIED this piece of trash.
Get a life DICKS. - Loonacy, on 10/11/2007, -2/+18How about an article about anti-RP people gaming the system to get anti-RP articles on the front page? I think you might have the same amount of evidence if it weren't for the fact you can't get records of who buried an article.
