- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+14All I can say is: Thompson is indeed a great ACTOR.
- mosmom3, on 10/10/2007, -0/+12Thompson should not have been on the poll until he is officially in the running! He should be tossed out! He is a member of that EVIL CFR!!! Ron Paul is the TRUE OFFICIAL WINNER! Fred Thompson needs to Sh*t or get off the pot!
- Bigboomer223, on 10/10/2007, -0/+11Go Ron GO!
- Likkerish, on 10/10/2007, -0/+11Yes, Fred (Flintstone) Thompson is, indeed, an ACTOR.
Ron Paul is a LEADER in the classical (Jeffersonian) liberal tradition of our Founding Fathers.
"...crisis is usually the best environment for leadership." -- Alvaro Vargas Llosa, April 21, 2006, in an speech, "The State of Freedom: 2006."
Llosa ends his speech with the tale of an early Ron Paul by the name of Urukagina.
Around 2,400 B.C., a man known by the name of Urukagina led a people’s revolution against the oligarchic state in Lagash, one of the city-states of Sumer, in Mesopotamia, accusing special interests—court priests, administrators, the governor—of acting for their own benefit and either usurping the property of others or simply enslaving them. “The priest no longer invaded the garden of a humble man”, says the document that conveys his reforms and gave the human race the first recorded word for liberty: amagi (literally “a return to the mother,” referring to an idyllic past in which the gods wanted people to be free). He banned the authorities, both ecclesiastical and civil, from seizing property from commoners, did away with most of the tax collectors, curtailed the power of judges to rule in favor of oligarchs trying to exploit the weak, and got the government out of proceedings such as divorce. Although Lagash thrived, Urukagina’s reign succumbed to a rival king after a decade. It stands as perhaps the first case of reform along classical liberal lines (to use a much more recent paradigm) and a very early example of struggle against collectivism, plunder and conquest. Something of the spirit of Urukagina, the first free-market reformer in recorded history, needs to impregnate the popular and intellectual discussion so that decision-makers can begin the process of “undoing” much of what has been done over the last few centuries.
The spirit of Urukagina has impregnated the Ron Paul Revolution! - Palmetto, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9Well, as my wife and I had the privilege of voting for Dr Paul today, I am happy to say that a good time was had by all. T-Shirts were selling like hotcakes and there was more spirit in the Ron Paul supporters than that of any of the other candidates supporters.
Man, this really is fun and rewarding at the same time.
Go Ron Go! - d1eforyorr1ghts, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9I hope the internet can elect the President this time around instead of the MSM.
It would be glorious!!
*****Ron Paul 2008*****
Register as a republican and vote in the primaries. - jacksunn, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8Go Ron!!!! dailypaul.com

Contribution received!
Thank you very much for your donation to the Ron Paul 2008 Presidential Campaign.
Your donation will allow us to expand and grow our campaign.
We depend on donors like you to help us spread the message of freedom, peace and prosperity through Ron Paul’s candidacy.
You will receive an email shortly with a confirmation number. - dbassam, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7It's starting to happen for Dr. Paul.
- Klydethegreater, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7God how I wish Paul were the rethug nominee.
- honorgod, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7Way to go.... Heres another $100.00 Dr. Ron...
- coldfact, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7Thompson supporters bulk purchase 100 tickets (http://georgetowngop.blogspot.com/2007/07/hundreds-of-thompson-and-paul.html ) and Thompson gets 102 votes. Bottom line: 2 people support Thompson enough to buy their own tickets; 100 sorta support the guy if you pay for their votes.
- Stugutts, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6The elite are holding Thompson back because they DO NOT WANT HIM IN DEBATES. They know he is a glove puppet who will be totally discredited by Ron Paul, as was Guiliani. Thompson is their last at bat and they do not want to risk anything happening to him, so his appearances are very carefully scripted. The only problem they have is if someone asks him an unscripted question, like some woman did at the airport. In that situation the Police just took the woman away - such is their paranoia. I wish I was making this up - buy I am not.
- groverblue, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6It would be nice if a link to their resource was provided. Otherwise, the claim doesn't carry much weight.

Ron Paul rocks. - silverdesk48, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6I don't live in SC but I would contact So.Carolina Election's Department and see if legally his name can be on the ballot when he hasn't even filed. The same goes to all candidates of all counties, states, and parties.
What is worse, is that Fred Thompson is a member of the CFR. Check out G.Edward Griffin's book "The Creasture from Jekyll Island" you can get it at your library or buy it at your local bookstore. You will wake up in a hurry !!!! - 1013, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5As usual the numbers don't add up. One press release states that 300 Ron Paul supporters were going to attend and Thompson bulk purchased 100 tickets. Then another release states that only 250 attended and Thompson received 102 of those votes. There needs to be some explanation by the SC Republican Party for these contradicting press releases.
- iaoki, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Go Ron! Excellent news. Save us from radical neo-cons!
- katooom, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Way to go Georgetown County Repubs! Get the word out!
Go Ron GO!! - hipposelect, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5I'm am getting more excited for Dr. Paul by the day. I love this man, and have since even BEFORE I voted for him for president in 1988. Hooray! Here's my website devoted to him and our campaign, in case anybody wants to send it around: www.paulforronpaul.com
This is SUCH good news! - daveho77, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Go Ron Paul!
- ty1er, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5+1 for freedom
- paulc87, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5go ron paul in 2008!
- honorgod, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5OH... GROVERBLUE .. here ya go buddy.. the Press release from the Georgetown GOP Pres....
http://blog.georgetowngop.org/ - Cowlesy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Time out - Why did I just read a press release that said Ron Paul supporters had purchased 300 tickets, but Congressman Paul only received 40 votes?
- scudiac, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4More evidence of Ron Paul's rise. Go Ron Paul!
- codyfrisch, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Well considering this is a straw poll, its just a poll where people vote in person. Its not a binding election or anything. That said I don't consider Thompson a real candidate. He's continued to push it off and off, i think in the hopes that they will dig up the dirt before he enters and then he won't have to suffer the humiliation of the dirt and losing, becuase he was never running. The guy has a lot of baggage I'm sure.
Go Freedom, Go Liberty, Go Ron Paul! - honorgod, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3I charge $100.00 for information that needs to be found..... I suggest you pay me by donating it to Ron Paul.
http://blog.georgetowngop.org/ - Cowlesy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Palmetto. I'm from New York City, and excited to hear you had a great time at the campaign.
Finishing 2nd is fantastic for Dr. Paul --- I hope this motivates you and your wife to speak with at least 5 other people about exploring Dr. Paul's message.
Thanks!! - theropingeffect, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Fred Thompson deserves an Oscar for his performance as a Presidential candidate. It won't be long before Ron Paul passes Thompson in a race he hasn't even entered yet.
- Likkerish, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Way to go....I honor you....Honorgod....
Honor....honor....honor....honor....honor....honor.....honor.....god.....I'm on a Ron Paul roll! - emtericag1, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Absolutely! I have been wondering why Thompson hasn't officially declared his race yet, and I think you are right...one of the reasons why might be because he would be slaughtered by Ron in a debate. In a debate, he would also completely blend in with the rest of the Republican runners, leading to the viewing majority declaring Ron Paul as the debate winner. By staying out of the race, he can 'win' polls because people are familiar with him from Law and Order and he doesn't have to physically confront Ron Paul...it is kind of a sissy way of dealing with it.
Well, Thompson is a last hope for the big money men. Giuliani is too liberal for many of the Conservative core, so he is out. Expect to see negative press about him in the upcoming months -yes, even on Fox. Now Republicans are reaching for an actor because he has mucho name recognition and the tv lovers will mindlessly vote for a familiar face.
Btw, have you seen Thompson's videos on youtube? Completely studio manufactured. Not much is real about this man. - Infinite84, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Yes as in acting like a real conservative instead of a CFR/AIPAC shill
- emtericag1, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Love your website! I'll spread word around about it.
- NSMike, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Dude. Caps lock. Off.
- Area417, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I'm fine with Thompson being in the straw poll even though he has yet to announce. But surely, at some point, he is going to have to come face-to-face with some unscripted debate.
- emtericag1, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I agree with your ideas in "Lets Talk Polls". The people who voted in the telephoned polls are voting because they were sitting at home and were contacted. They aren't actually making the effort to participate in the polls in a proactive way, like voters who responded to the polls online and the Fox text poll. The voters who made the effort to vote in MSNBC's poll, CNN's and Fox's will be the ones at the voting booth when the time comes.
- rebmaster, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1This is the SECOND time Ron Has placed SECOND in a Republican county straw poll!
He is (finally) breaking through to the masses...
He also placed just behind "Law & Order Fred" in the Newton County Missouri Republican Straw Poll:
http://ozarks4ronpaul.blogspot.com/2007/07/ron-paul-wins-close-second-in-straw.html
I'm in the process of getting some sort of official press release from the Newton County Republican Party about this - it was just announced last week at the "Republican Watermelon Feed" and none of the local or online news sites have published it yet...
Digg also:
http://digg.com/2008_us_elections/Fred_Thompson_1st_Ron_Paul_2nd_in_Straw_Poll - RP08, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Thompson is a going through a loophole. He isn't playing fair because if he declares, he would have restrictions on campaign contributions. For now, since he's undeclared, he doesn't. But when he does declare, he'll dilute the neo conservative vote even further, improving ron paul's chances.
- Likkerish, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Paul I, too, love your website. I will post a link to it on Ron Paul's YouTube site and on the Daily Paul. Freedom is the common denominator that brings everyone together and is the antidote to the polarizing influences in this country.
- george4title, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Thompson for VP?.....I would settle for that....lol
- Likkerish, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0emtericag1....I, inadvertently, hit the red button to bury Caesar and not to praise him. I, hereby, revoke my interment of your comment and register my praise. I, too love the website.
- RogueIlluminati, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Here's what i think... and i think it's despicable.
Thompson's not declaring because of all the free face time he's getting on tv with his Law and Order reruns. If he declares, they have to stop running the reruns since they have to give somewhat equal time to all candidates. An easy way for the guy to save money, but a dishonest thing to do, if you ask me. - bhaven, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Ron Paul can beat whatever Democrat is nominated; Thompson can't. Register Republican and vote for Ron Paul in the primaries. Go Ron Go!
- Atvdude, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Ok.. WHY do I have to google Ron Paul to find this info?? why are my TV stations not bringing me this news?? or Dr. Paul's message? HOW does the media KNOW that the American public does not WANT this message... If they don't BRING IT TO US?? Oh.. thats right.. the message RESONATES.. that could change a LOT OF THINGS IN AMERICA.... better not put that message out..
Looks like Advertisers dollars ARE better spent on the Internet!
Peace - chrisholley1975, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0This is just a small taste of things to come.
- AWMWTP, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0I was there and here is what happened. History was made in Georgetown South Carolina on the 28th of July. The first straw poll ever held there has an interesting story behind it. The press release promoting the poll gave the voting time as 3:00 pm. The day was winding up earlier than they anticipated so they decided to vote early. Part of my Charleston group went early and there were two couples who chose to come later.because of the rain. They arrived at 2:15 and went to vote but were told by Mr. Swatzel that they were too late. The 4 were very disappointed after driving 2 hours and thinking they were 45 minutes ahead of the scheduled vote time, when they were turned away. I went up to the man running the straw poll and just told him about the press release and the 3pm deadline and he said, no problem. They will be allowed to vote and He would see that the votes were added to the count and call the reporter who had already left with the earlier numbers. So at first it was Mitt Romney 37, and Ron Paul 36, but after the "gang of 4" voted the numbers changed and Ron Paul won it 40 to 37. I say won it because I have a difficult time counting someone who isn't running for president as being first. (Fred Thompson) Who, by the way, paid for 100 lunches and votes. Palmetto was one of the 4. He commented earlier.
- EMALVINI, on 10/10/2007, -4/+0IF YOUR AN UNDECLARED CANDIDATE, IT MAKES NO LOGICAL SENSE THAT THOSE VOTES SHOULD COUNT. DOES ANYONE BELIEVE THAT IF RON PAUL WAS UNDECLARED, THAT HE WOULD HAVE FINISHED SECOND. I THINK NOT!!
