- macman2k, on 01/05/2008, -7/+230apparently the white house is not "in" Washington.
- inactive, on 01/05/2008, -6/+196Q: How many Romney supporters does it take to change a lightbulb ?
A: CHANGE ?!?! - tonybcool29, on 01/05/2008, -18/+204lol, he's nuts.
- hawkeye17, on 01/05/2008, -12/+196This is Exhibit A of why Romney isn't Presidential material.
- inactive, on 01/05/2008, -10/+97I guess all the polls demanding change were too complicated to for him to figure out.
Perhaps the low approval scores could give him even a tiny ***** clue. - nicholai, on 01/05/2008, -8/+78I am glad Romney decided to commit political suicide, one less neocon in the race.
- inactive, on 01/05/2008, -5/+66Nice Spin. You know what Americans want? They want Mitt "I'd ... I'd... I'd double Guantanamo Bay!" Romney to pay attention to what's happening in the world. Any politician worth his salt could never say that with a straight face and mean it.
- inactive, on 01/05/2008, -6/+43He couldn't tell the truth to win a bet. He has spun so many times he doesn't even know where the truth is anymore
- hiphoc, on 01/05/2008, -12/+48Dude, we really do want a change in the white house, seriously... And the change is not you. It doesnt matter how many times you wear your mormon magic underwear.
- smacksaw, on 01/05/2008, -6/+37Whatever these Republicans mean or believe by this, I'm not sure. What I am sure of is that these sorts of comments/explanations are why the GOP is going to lose in 2008 unless it's Ron Paul, and even then I don't think he can stop Obama.
- mcquitty, on 01/05/2008, -2/+23I will probably be dugg down for this.
I listened to the comment and I heard it in a completely different way than interpreted here.
As in, people don't want change just in the White House, but in all of Washington. It's a non-story, if you ask me. - adwarereport, on 01/05/2008, -3/+24Q: How many computer programmers does it take to change a light bulb?
A: None. It's a hardware problem. - revdrtomb, on 01/05/2008, -2/+20I'm no Romney fan, but I think we might be misinterpreting what he said. (And he has to take some blame for that, too, given the way he expressed it.) I think his point is that people want change in Washington as a whole, not just the White House (i.e. this wasn't a repudiation of Bush, per se, it was a repudiation of the whole Washington establishment). If I'm wrong, he really is a loon.
- Minarchian, on 01/05/2008, -5/+22The people that work there don't think so. They think they are in a country all to themselves.
- bratpack8, on 01/05/2008, -3/+20Plastic Man Answers.
- dougmwpsu, on 01/05/2008, -4/+20Nuts, he may be.. but i think this clip is taken somewhat out of context. the interviewer proablly had just asked something like "are americians tired of republicians?" to which he responds, "americia doesn't want a new party in the white house, it wants a president who will change the political game in general, i'm that canidate"
still though, don't vote for mitt, he sweats *****. - stillasleep00, on 01/05/2008, -5/+21I don't like Romney any more than anyone else, but this is twisting his words to some degree. He was placing emphasis on Washington needing change (i.e. Congress) rather than excluding the White House. That being said, Bush is still the worst thing to ever happen to the White House...
- Brad324, on 01/05/2008, -0/+15Obama is far from a shoe-in
- nicholai, on 01/05/2008, -12/+26Romney might as well of dropped from the election, it's over for him.
- mikelieman, on 01/05/2008, -8/+21He may be nuts, with the fixed elections he may be the next President...
The important criteria is "Don't rock the boat", and he's just indicated his willingness to Play Ball. - ohiomama, on 01/05/2008, -3/+16Clue for sale! Clue, anyone? Anyone?
- Drewboy64, on 01/05/2008, -1/+13umm... No he won't
Candidate for Republicans? Maybe
President? Never!
The Republicans don't have a chance if they nominate him. - elipabst, on 01/05/2008, -2/+13That seems to be his new angle for setting himself apart from the other candidates. For example he's been going after Huckabee recently for slamming the Whitehouse. I guess he wants to make himself seem like the next neoconservative protege, but I'm just not sure if he realizes that he's tied himself onto a sinking ship. His comment would only seem to reinforce that he doesn't have a clue.
- nicholai, on 01/05/2008, -4/+14He is too busy buying votes.
- tmccool, on 01/05/2008, -0/+10Agreed, Brad. People feel like calling the election already but they don't realize it's only been the Iowa caucus. As much as I like Obama and hope that he wins, he's not guaranteed anything at this moment.
- HentaiJeff, on 01/05/2008, -5/+14A? more like Exhibit... wait what would come after Z in this case?
- Neobird43, on 01/05/2008, -2/+11What rock is he living under?
- jefferygomer, on 01/05/2008, -1/+10Because the social conservatives (Evangelicals) aren't well thought out people, generally. They want government to enforce morality, and they saw that in Bush, and they see that in Huckabee. They don't care about the taxes, the economy, the war, they care about homosexuals marrying, and abortions happening.
- Neiby, on 01/05/2008, -0/+9I'm rather certain that sex and supporting Ron Paul are not mutually exclusive. Although it could be a bit weird if you tried to do them at the same time.
- fractalman, on 01/05/2008, -0/+8Dude, until anyone else has the nomination, Paul stands a chance. There will be no funeral until after he is pronounced dead.
- Neiby, on 01/05/2008, -3/+11Q: How many dadaists does it take to change a light bulb?
A: One to change the light bulb and one to fill the bathtub with brightly colored machine tools. - rarson, on 01/05/2008, -0/+8"If you stay in Iraq, then you have to raise taxes, cause you can't keep spending money on the military."
Sure you can. Just keep doing what we've been doing: creating money from nowhere. The higher the debt goes, the farther the dollar plunges, so eventually they'll cancel each other out! At least, I think that is the hair-brained theory behind our current spending and economic practices. - meteors, on 01/05/2008, -5/+13Mitt, it's over for you. Exit gracefully.
- SouthsideIrish, on 01/05/2008, -1/+8If you stay in Iraq, then you have to raise taxes, cause you can't keep spending money on the military. So, either way it is the typical republican response. Bring the troops home and increase social programs, or raise taxes, keep the troops in Iraq, and still be able to increase social programs. What else can you do? Neither will lower the debt, unless you REALLY raise the taxes.
- AsusMobo, on 01/05/2008, -2/+9Survey Says: XXX
- JaybeasCorpus, on 01/05/2008, -1/+8I'm pretty sure what he was trying to say was that Americans want change in more than *just* the White House - they want to see change in all of Washington. Look, there's plenty of dumb stuff by Romney already out there - we don't also need to exaggerate what was probably just a poor choice of words.
- fractalman, on 01/05/2008, -5/+12He's not a republican, he's a neocon.
- rstarr, on 01/05/2008, -7/+13Q: How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?
A: A giraffe in the bathtub. - zephc, on 01/05/2008, -0/+6Using the DOS drive letter scheme, 'AA' would be next.
- Drahkar, on 01/05/2008, -1/+7Such a thing would involve chances in the White house as well as DC. The Simple fact is that he's trying to split hairs so that he doesn't have to commit to anything specific. Its comments like that which can be interpreted in many ways which allow them to get away with lying to the public.
- explodingtree, on 01/05/2008, -4/+10Romney/Bush '08!
The end is near. - Neiby, on 01/05/2008, -1/+7Just to clarify, you're speaking of Romney, not Paul. Paul is not a neocon.
- jefferygomer, on 01/05/2008, -0/+6So... only support Paul when it is "kosher" to do so? ***** that! Support what you believe all the time, not when it is socially acceptable to do so.
- usingpond, on 01/05/2008, -2/+8What? I'm not a huge Ron Paul guy, but neocons are the people he's running against. Why do people like to just throw around that word?
- SiNN4R, on 01/05/2008, -0/+6It got me a restraining order.
- theuniversal, on 01/05/2008, -0/+5I think you're right. Romney meant to say not only in the white house, but in washington. Given all the real complaints Thinkprogress could find against Romney, this is lame.
- rarson, on 01/05/2008, -0/+5Democrats '08, and Republicans '12? Is that how it works? Doesn't matter who wins, as long as your party is the winnar, right?
Blind party followers are the entire reason we always get ***** candidates for president. - xDynaBlade, on 01/05/2008, -7/+12Buried for not understanding English. Let's look at what he said: "...in Washington, not the White House, in Washington." Now, to my understanding, Washington includes the White House. He's saying that Americans want complete change in Washington, not just a new face in the White House. I'm not saying I like him, but I'm just saying many of you are idiots for not understanding that the first time.
- thejoeschmoshow, on 01/05/2008, -6/+11People on DIGG lying about what a Republican, other than Ron Paul, said? No way...
If you watch the video, it's clear that his words mean that people want a complete overhaul of Washington politics, as opposed to a simple change in the White House. There was no "but not" in his statement.
Instead of reading the biased description, how about watching? He argues that the poor performances from Clinton and McCain show that people want someone from OUTSIDE WASHINGTON at the helm of American politics. - fractalman, on 01/05/2008, -1/+6Yes, Romney. I've been known to type some stupid stuff here on digg, but not that stupid.
