- inactive, on 11/24/2008, -5/+40Is this THE Richard Clarke who had enough honor and integrity to apologize to family members of 9/11?
Wow. Imagine that. Honor and integrity in the cabinet. It's...it's been...it's been so long...since...we've had an administration we can trust and admire. I've forgotten what it feels like. - JenniferInMO, on 11/25/2008, -4/+32Richard Clarke has years of experience and worked in every Administration from Reagan through Bush II (where he was pushed out for speaking out). I think he would be an excellent choice.
- MercyPolitics, on 11/24/2008, -5/+30I love the idea of Clarke to head the CIA.
- Harboggles, on 11/25/2008, -3/+22I read his book "your government failed you" and I empathized with everything he said. He is a well thought out individual who understands the political climate and knows what needs to be done to properly secure our country. He is undoubtedly qualified to be CIA director.
- inactive, on 11/25/2008, -3/+19The intelligence wasn't wrong, it was made up.
Iraq wasn't a ***** accident. Stop pretending. - rkymtnwoman, on 11/25/2008, -3/+9yes Ach cherry picked BS.
Richard Clark is a great choice. He had the cajones to stand up. We need that!
What about Valerie Plame? or her cute husband Joe? - thenekkidtruth, on 11/25/2008, -0/+4While I'm a little beyond incredulous that someone seriously quotes Ann Coulter these days, take it from a security expert who's a colleage of Richard Clarke that this is NOT how you measure success in terms of security.
It's like saying, "I haven't had a heart attack so my diet must be just fine."
Instead, you measure security success by, well, measuring it. The 9/11 commission identified 37 areas of improvement and measure Bush administration performance on these tasks 5 times. The results? Utter failure. On many of these initiatives, Bush didn't even try.
The addage, "Worst President Ever" is an UNDERestimation. - joand315, on 11/25/2008, -1/+5It's too bad that Clarke says he doesn't want the job. He said 30 years of intelligence work should be enough for anybody. Clarke has been working as an intelligence adviser for Obama, though. Maybe he'll recomment somebody we can trust for that job.
- thenekkidtruth, on 11/25/2008, -3/+7So far, Barack's picks are star-studded with the best and the brightest, award winners, experienced, acclaimed by both parties, many of them the best in the world at what they do - no ex-criminals, no embarrassments, no foolish cronies, no lobbyist cockroaches, no heckuvajob Brownies.
My message to the Neandrathal "it's not change" crowd is, stick a cork in yourself. - eco57, on 11/25/2008, -5/+9I admire and appreciate Richard Clarke and I'm sure he's a bright guy, but a big unknown here is his management skills. Directing a huge bureaucracy takes a lot more than recognizing the Iraq quagmire - hell, it didn't take a genius to see that one coming.
- netgui68, on 11/25/2008, -1/+4I would love to see Clark in charge. God bless him for his honesty and good character.
- inactive, on 11/25/2008, -0/+3Richard Clarke is one of a group of six people who are suspected of being "Mega", a high-ranking spy who served in both the Clinton and Bush White Houses. George Tenet and Marc Grossman are two other possibilities. No one is quite sure who "Mega" is but the list of candidates is just six.
You can list to a discussion of it here:

OMG a guy in charge of intelligence that doesn't make ***** up and be a patsy for a corrupt administration, to start an illegal war that has kled to the murder of over 4100 United States soldiers.
- anshuman, on 11/25/2008, -0/+1he is Firing Donald Trump of the Defence/Offence team.
- GregIsLegend, on 11/25/2008, -3/+3I thought Richard Clarke was a character from Rainbow Six until I read the article.
- rmcnnlly, on 12/25/2008, -0/+0Clarke failed us. According to Bin Laden Chief Michael Scheuer, Clarke not only faild to eliminate Bin Laden, but went so far as tip off the Saudi Sheik, that Bin Laden was having lunch with. Bin Laden scattered and later did his 911 attack. Which led to our invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq.
Our government leadership has made matters worse. We have meddled in the affairs of so many foreign governments so long, with such arrogance we have guaranteed their animosity for at least another generation.
Now ask yourself, if America declines and becomes a 2nd world status nation, do you think are meddling in the affairs of other governments will come home to haunt us?
Heed the warning of Rome, who gathered the ire of the the Vandals, who eventually sacked Rome and left it in ruins. - gandhii, on 11/25/2008, -3/+3Based on her past comments and diggs, I'm pretty sure le0pardess voted 3rd party. I don't think the right/left (love one side, hate the other) paradigm is applicable. It appears more likely that she is just pissed off about all the sheep who base their political opinions on "hope" rather than anything truly legitimate.
- gandhii, on 11/25/2008, -2/+2Which is why he won't be.
- Gemfinder, on 11/25/2008, -3/+3[patting ObamAmerican's shoulder gently] Take a moment.
- TheInformer, on 11/25/2008, -3/+2Wait a while and see what he turns out to be. After all, Obama's constant unending tag line was "change", yet now that he is the POTUS-elect he is doing nothing but bringing in Washington insiders. If Obama can stick to what he says, then for certain Richard Clarke can, yes?
- LemonHerb, on 11/25/2008, -4/+3I really feel sorry for you, it's going to be a hard 8 years if you are going to try and view everything as negative just so you don't feel bad about losing. Get over the loss, then you can enjoy the future instead of feeling bitter you tried to stop it.
- seeingright, on 11/25/2008, -5/+4well maybe he can apolozie.. can he change a damn thing? Doesn't sound like a CIA agenda to me.. LOL
- TimDigg, on 11/25/2008, -4/+1"The man responsible for keeping Americans safe from another terrorist attack on American soil for nearly seven years now will go down in history as one of America's greatest presidents. " - Ann Coulter
Well I guess one person like Bush - seeingright, on 11/25/2008, -17/+10Change is an election term used by every politician.. then they get into office and the "good old boy's club" is introduced and "payback time" is enacted and we have politics as usual.
- le0pardess, on 11/25/2008, -24/+12The more things ((change)) the more they stay the same...
The only thing B.O. has changed is his address. To bad "change" wasn't defined before the [s]election. I wonder how the obamabots are going feel when they find out "change" was only a word used to played on their emotions.
What is Digg?
