- mike2lane, on 07/01/2009, -20/+139It's about time the media starts to awaken.
- Kythas, on 07/01/2009, -25/+128Even Helen Thomas is accusing the White House of "a pattern of controlling the press".
Can we dare to hope that the press is finally starting to open their eyes to this administration? - spursncowboys, on 07/02/2009, -16/+96I cannot stand how Obama and Gibbs talk so condensending to people. Why can they not answer the question. Gibbs is smart, he knew what they were asking.
- methdwman3, on 07/02/2009, -17/+94Gibbs looked like a tool.
- inactive, on 07/01/2009, -29/+93In other news, veteran White House reporter Helen Thomas was found dead this evening from an apparent self-inflected gun shot wound to the back of the head...
- Stevanoski, on 07/02/2009, -14/+68Could not believe Helen Thomas, wow, she nailed the crux of the matter from beginning to end. Gibbs is a total tool.
- NorthMass, on 07/02/2009, -17/+64It is saddening but 100% true by now that Obama could care less about transparency. He wants to give more power to the Fed, yes the same Fed that doesn't have to tell anyone where they spend $2 trillion.
http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601087&am ... - phydeaux70, on 07/02/2009, -27/+71I am totally amazed that the press is waking up to this sham of an open Presidency. Say what you want about GWB he didn't do this every day and every press conference. I swear, Obama thinks he's still campaigning.
It must be too late for the liberals to bury this story. - vbullinger, on 07/01/2009, -8/+50*Correction: two gunshot wounds to the back of the head. And she was found in the middle of a muddy field with 100% clean shoes.
- JohnGalt01, on 07/02/2009, -26/+68There must be a rip in the space/time continuum somewhere and we have gone into another dimension... Helen Thomas criticizing "The One"?????
- tpmidd, on 07/02/2009, -7/+46"You can email your question"
Doesn't Gibbs understand that being truly open and transparent would be to allow un screened questions? Selecting the questions you want to answer from a handful of submissions isn't open, it's planned.
I can't figure out if Gibbs is this stupid, or if he's just acting. - NorthMass, on 07/02/2009, -9/+47This is not a partisan issue folks. Obama talks a good game about transparency, but he wants more power than anyone. He wants to give the Federal Reserve more power, the same Fed that already doesn't have to tell anyone where they spent $2 trillion.
http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601087&am ... - sjl127, on 07/02/2009, -4/+40This exchange absolutely made my day, especially with Mrs. Thomas!
- mgraves81, on 07/02/2009, -10/+45I am not sure if the press is turning against Obama. But I have been able to see the ire rise towards Gibbs for a while now. He never answers questions directly, he is a smart-ass, he is smarmy, and he is always giggling.
Sometimes I wonder if he is even briefed before he goes out there. He waddles on out smiling from ear to ear and then someone asks the first question and I swear I can almost see the gnome inside Gibbs' empty head get up from his Laz-y Boy and go and turn off the light switch. - inactive, on 07/01/2009, -52/+86wtf!!! Don't those douchebags in the media KNOW who they're talking to?
Don't they know that NO ONE questions King Obammy !?! - DavidNiven, on 07/02/2009, -31/+62The liberal media complaining about a liberal press secretary who's doing damage control for a liberal president?
How absolutely enjoyable!!! - inactive, on 07/02/2009, -5/+35He can't help it. A spade is a spade.
- NorthMass, on 07/02/2009, -10/+38Hopefully. This would be great for people to criticize Obama and his administration more often. Obama talks a good game about transparency, yet he wants to give the Federal Reserve more power than it has ever had? The same Fed that doesn't have to tell anyone where it spent $2 trillion?
http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601087&am ... - inactive, on 07/02/2009, -24/+51Gibbs is a fatty and a double speaking doosh bag. Did you see how he tried numerous times to deflect the question until "tomorrow" to avoid answering the question. This guy is the king of lies. I love watching how he bumbles when pressed. Way to go Helen Thomas and CBS guy.
Obama is finally getting pressed by the press; about damn time! - Stevanoski, on 07/02/2009, -10/+36But, alas, as usual, you would be wrong all day.
- alais, on 07/02/2009, -15/+41There you have it folks, when faced with real criticism the left brands HELEN THOMAS "a desperate thug on the right".
Quick someone send Helen a note informing her after a lifetime of championing every left-wing cause imaginable shes suddenly switched sides for simply wanting what the administration promised. - govsucks, on 07/02/2009, -13/+39Even Helen Thomas "We've never seen this before" I can't believe it. Good for her. Transparency my ass, mind washing, careful staging is more like it. When are you Obama supporters going to realize you are being pwned? They have been caught and questioned by liberal reporters for cherry picking "townhall" questions. What else isn't REAL? What else is being sugar coated for the dear leaders fans? Health care numbers? Most certainly, economic recovery numbers? Absolutely we've already seen his numbers change to match reality once.
Quit being government suckers. - lilamae, on 07/02/2009, -2/+27He IS a tool.
- inactive, on 07/01/2009, -8/+32holy crap, rolling on the floor after that one. Bravo Sir, Bravo!
- NorthMass, on 07/02/2009, -6/+30Gibbs doesn't answer questions because he has no legitimate answers to tough questions. How can he defend Obama on issues like transparency when Obama has done nothing significant to increase transparency, but he wants to give the Fed more power when it already doesn't have to tell anyone where they spent $2 trillion?
- NorthMass, on 07/02/2009, -5/+26"It's amazing how quickly the press is willing to call out a Democratic President on this when they kowtowed for Bush for 8 years straight, and then everybody has the audacity to complain about the 'liberal media'."
(1) Let's say Bush got zero criticism from the media. How does this in any way excuse the ridiculous answers Gibbs gave, and Obama refusing to do anything to end war overseas or increase transparency at home? Your argument is analogous to someone who just stole a car saying to the person whose car they stole, "well your sister stole someone's car once so why are you complaining?"
Two wrongs don't make a right, and as Ghandi said, "an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind". Just because Bush's policies severely weakened this country doesn't give Obama an excuse to do the same.
(2) Bush was not given a free pass by the media, not even close. - NorthMass, on 07/02/2009, -5/+26Please don't make this into a partisan joke about "liberals turning on each other LOLZ". Why not just praise Thomas for calling out Gibbs?
- methdwman3, on 07/02/2009, -8/+28Bush got a free pass for 8 years? LOL! I guess in that opposite world, Obama is treated horribly by the media, especially MSNBC.
- oldhick, on 07/02/2009, -2/+22Niven, what a joke you are... Your ignorance is astounding. Helen Thomas has a long history of asking tough questions and demanding transparency and honesty from both Republican and Democratic presidents.
But why would a hack like you be interested in the truth? - inactive, on 07/02/2009, -4/+24And her teeth missing. Undetermined if this happened before or after death.
- mgraves81, on 07/02/2009, -8/+28"when they kowtowed for Bush for 8 years straight"
Wow I didn't know Mars had a President named Bush as well, because clearly that is what planet you are from,
OOOOOOOOOH Jeff Gannon. That is some great investigative reporting on your part there. You managed to find the ONE guy. Hahaha what a joke. Oh and way to reference an OP-ED (of all things from 2003)...what the hell man, were you in a coma for the five years after that? The press was about as friendly to Bush as an Iranian Cleric would be to a Jew. - inactive, on 07/02/2009, -12/+32Hey anomaly, your boy is a POS and the electorate is beginning to realize it. So get used to it as everything is down hill like our economy from here.
- nullvector, on 07/02/2009, -11/+31Sweet. Now the government even controls the questions they answer.
Awesome. - Waiting2awake, on 07/02/2009, -1/+21David - you clearly have no understanding of Helen Thomas.
http://en.wikinews.org/wiki/Helen_Thomas_probes_Wh ...
Notice the date? She has been standing up for transparency for a while now. - Gandalff, on 07/01/2009, -21/+41OMG did they find a blue dress, What happened?
Sarc/ - inactive, on 07/02/2009, -24/+43I call for Obama's immediate resignation.
- NorthMass, on 07/02/2009, -2/+21Gibbs is a poor spokesman because he comes off as arrogant and condescending. He simply makes jokes out of very serious circumstances, and answers with sarcasm when people are asking serious questions, in a "how dare you ask me that question" kind of manner.
- Stevanoski, on 07/02/2009, -6/+25And she had just had her hoofs trimmed and shined up.
- DavidNiven, on 07/02/2009, -6/+24If you're going after the White House Press Secretary's job with THAT pathetic attempt at spin and deflection, better keep your day job.
- mooninite, on 07/02/2009, -5/+23Media is GOP backed? ABC? The same ABC who held a special Obama special on healthcare reform and didn't allow any opposing commercials to run during the time block? Really? This is how blind Obama-ites are folks. It's scary.
- sharkydog, on 07/02/2009, -2/+19At this point, nothing this administration does surprises me.
- Stevanoski, on 07/02/2009, -10/+27Anomaly100 chose his name because it is truly an anomaly to be wrong about everything he spouts.
- NorthMass, on 07/02/2009, -7/+24Do you have a reason to defend Gibbs in this video? Because I cannot come up with anything to explain this besides the fact that Gibbs got owned by reporters who were simply asking who was deciding what questions would get on air and how they would pick the questions. He got owned because he couldn't even come up with a reason, he just squirmed around talking about nothing.
- mgraves81, on 07/02/2009, -8/+25You mean you could go totally off topic and call Rush Limbaugh a fat ass and then mention Michael Savage. You really could do that all day...oooh I impressed!
Look everyone Anomaly100 can off-topic all day! Well we all know what Robert Gibbs Digg handle is now...it's Anomaly100. Thanks Robert! - kemp34, on 07/02/2009, -0/+16A tool is as a tool does.
- mooninite, on 07/02/2009, -4/+20No, no. Obama has 90% Clinton-era staffers. That's not how they roll.
You'd have an unfortunate plane accident instead. - mooninite, on 07/02/2009, -7/+23No one in the Obama administration can give an answer to an unscreened question. If they ever get one Obama just sits there and goes "uh uh uh uh uh" over and over, Gibbs stands there and giggles like a little school girl, and Hillary tells you her life story for a question that could take a yes or no response.
People made fun of Bush for doing similar crap. Hypocrisy at its finest. - ThsGuyRightHere, on 07/02/2009, -21/+36This sub likely raises a valid point. However your insipid ranting about "King Obammy" draws attention away from the issue at hand, instead calling attention to the fact that you're an idiot. You weaken your own case every time you open your mouth.
- Waiting2awake, on 07/02/2009, -6/+21It isn't that he is that stupid, it is that they believe the public is.
- faskippy, on 07/02/2009, -8/+23Robert Gibbs has absolutely no respect from reporters, (except for the ones staged there by their office). He is condescending toward them, has no people skills, and reminds me of a flat coke. The deputy WH press secretary however, has a much better rapport with journalists, and got a chance to prove it not too long ago, when he replaced Gibbs in a press conference.
Remember that incident a few weeks ago when reporters cell phones kept interrupting Gibbs, and he even threw one in a closet? LOL! Something just tells me that was the deputy press secretary in some office nearby holding a list of all the reporters cell phone nos., working to get his chance on camera. Ha! Watching it all go down at the same time! -
