Redacted portions of censored New York Times column revealed
rawstory.com — The government-censored portions of the controversial column look to match information from passages in previously-published reports--but earlier reports printed the information without incident.

- anon52, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Good sleuthing. I listened to an interview with Flynt Leverett and Kenneth Pollack (Brookings) on the Diane Rehm show. Other than purposeful miscommunications, it was a good expose of the failures of the GWB doctrine vis-a-vis Iraq. Leverett argued persuasively that it didn't make any sense to redact the piece since all the material had been previously published and that the CIA had already let it pass. It seems the discontent at the WH was due to the more digestible nature of this column - too many Americans (and the rest of the world) would be able to understand the failures.
