- douglasdao, on 11/07/2008, -1/+6Life will get better under President Obama in so many ways :)
- inactive, on 11/08/2008, -2/+4He's promised to expand the occupation of Afghanistan and has threatened Iran. Joining the military when you have a warmonger president is not a good idea, folks. Only severely deluded people who heard only what they wanted to hear could consider Obama a "peace" president.
- inactive, on 11/08/2008, -0/+1To those who are lost and don't understand what kind of warmonger 0bama is, try reading his speech at the Wilson Center where he talks about winning the war that must be won in Pakistan and Afghanistan. Then look at his waffling on the Iraq issue. He argued both sides of Iraqi military involvement issue. When he was running for the Senate seat he now holds he promised to do all he could to get our troops out of Iraq and all he could do was join Bush and the Republicans in a rare 100-0 vote in the Senate to extend the Iraq use of force and put all of its spending off-budget as an emergency.
I just don't understand why anyone would believe anything the man says.
"As President, I would deploy at least two additional brigades toAfghanistan to re-enforce our counter-terrorism operations and support NATO’s efforts against the Taliban."
"As President, I would increase our non-military aid by $1 billion. "
"So I will make poverty reduction a key part of helping other nations reduce anarchy.
I will double our annual investments to meet these challenges to $50 billion by 2012. And I will support a $2 billion Global Education Fund "
Yeah, he has all the answers. Of course they all come at a cost and that cost will be nourn by anyone who saves or earns dollars.
You don't end violence by advocating more violence. You don't end poverty by creating more poverty. - Gemfinder, on 11/08/2008, -1/+1We should never have left Afghanistan and his administration will meet with Iran's.
Note that Barack Obama *himself* won't be in the negotiations directly. He's a leader, it's called "delegation." And with the strong rumours that Bill Richardson will be our next Secretary of State, I have a lot of confidence in the turnout of that mission.
We sit down at tables and _talk_ because that is how armed conflict is avoided. It's easy to pat your friends on the back and say how much you like them: anyone can do that. A true diplomat statesman's job starts with the grim customers who won't let you pat them on the back, and that is the yardstick by which they're measured.
I'm looking forward to the day the talks start. - inactive, on 11/07/2008, -5/+2Maybe they have also heard that 0bama wants to attack Pakistan and don't want to be fried by nukes?
