- art42, on 10/11/2007, -4/+47Impeachment should have been in the first 100 hours. The squatters in the White House must be removed and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the LAW - US and International LAW.
Send Bu$h Co to THE HAGUE!- AnaHadWolves, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2Thinking out loud here: If the Congress lacks the testicles to begin articles of impeachment against Bush & Cheney, Inc, then, perhaps, more direct action might be considered.
Direct action is certainly nothing new for our government's agents. With all the recent revelations regarding assassination attempts against foreign leaders that the CIA attempted over the years, I wonder if a rogue agent or two in some black ops unit with The Agency might be tempted to terminate with extreme prejudice our problems?
Now, let me see if I still have those Langley, VA contact numbers in my Blackberry...- Mu99ins, on 10/11/2007, -1/+0It won't happen.
- DopeWeasel, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2It better happen!
Or else... or else, I'm sad to say nothing will happen since the US is so dumbed down and apathetic that we'll just continue to let them get away with it.
I think I want to send myself on an "extraordinary rendition".

http://www.slate.com/id/2169292/pagenum/all/#page_start - webifram, on 10/11/2007, -2/+27I'm all for Cheney's impeachment, but let's hold Bush accountable, too. He's responsible for everything his administration does, even if he doesn't do it personally. Impeach BOTH of them for war crimes.
- tardpicard, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3war crimes wouldn't stick at all (too many intelligence officials to point the finger at). That would be the worst way to do it. However, defrauding the federal government might be the ticket. Follow the (tax) money, and it'll lead you to your crimes.
- ozroy, on 10/11/2007, -2/+19If you can impeach the vice president, then the rest of the dominoes should fall like a house of cards! Checkmate!
- Rossoneri22, on 10/11/2007, -0/+10I don't think the Democrats in Congress right now have the balls or intellect required to overthrow the unholy creation known as Dick. But hey, we can dream.
- Wacer, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1They also don't have enough voted no matter how strong they present their case the Republicans in Congress.
- Shatzi, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I hate to say it but I am afraid you are right. I will remain hopeful, though!
- ecorona, on 10/11/2007, -1/+13Ok everyone, prove you're not just some lazy people commenting on Digg. I challenge everyone reading this, NOW, not later, but NOW to contact your representative calling for the impeachment of Cheney. Here is how to contact your representative.
http://www.house.gov/writerep/
As long as we stay on Digg and bitch about it here, we're just preaching to the quire. Let's put our convictions to the test and take a few minutes to do it. Make it original and make it good. Don't need to say anything fancy or quote any specific laws, just write what's in your hearts.- smackywentz, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Done this a bunch of times and I get the same response everytime.
Sorry we've been very busy here. Thanks for voicing your opinion in reference to impeachment, I agree with you, but right now we don't have the support. It is best just to wait it out.
Thanks don't forget about elections!- ecorona, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Did you follow up? I would respond and say that we're looking for a snowball effect. In order for that to happen someone needs to start rolling a tiny snowball down a hill. Just becoming one of the voices often calling for impeachment can make a difference. Other members of Congress are more likely to call for impeachment this way. It's the whole group mentality thing.
- Wacer, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3I think people that have Republican Representatives are the one to contact. I think most of the Democrats do want to go ahead but the everyone needs to hold the Republicans feet to the fire as they would most definitely block an attempt.
- GhengisKhan, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1It's 'choir', not 'quire', and it's 'heart' not hearts. You should be banished back to the 6th grade.
- BlacklabelSAR, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I just wrote to my rep that if he didn't impeach Cheney that he would be voted out at the next election. Thanks for the link!

- JoJoMoMo, on 10/11/2007, -2/+13Cheney and Bush make me embarrassed to be an American. An impeachment could restore the world's faith in America.
- ToadLeg, on 10/11/2007, -3/+2Dugg down: An impeachment probably will not restore the world's faith in America.
- jrbrewin, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1there was ever faith in america?
- Mu99ins, on 10/11/2007, -3/+0Faith in America? What is this, a girl scout meeting? If supporting a crucial new democracy in the heart of the Middle East destroys your faith in American, go grab a hankie and weep into your
pillow. Then research a little about the intentions of both al Qaeda and the Ayatollah, and their type of society they want to forcefully impose on the rest of the world, and take your choice.- jrbrewin, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1@ mu99ins - "and their type of society they want to forcefully impose on the rest of the world, and take your choice"
which is worse. america wanting to impose their way of life on the rest of the world, or someone else? It's really the pot calling the kettle black. Some of these countries have existed just fine in one state or another for 1000s of years before america came along, ***** on everyone, pretending to be so righteous. So no, the rest of the world has no faith in your beloved america, in fact the rest of the world, democratic or not, hates america at the minute. Live with it.

- 11111andre11111, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8Beware.
The GOP wants Cheney out of office by fall, so Bush can appoint Fred Thompson as VP. That way they can blame the war, any crimes, everything and anything on Cheney, and Thompson looks presidential to middle america. It's the only shot the republicans have to win.
As exciting as it is to go after that criminal, it's too late to impeach him. We need to keep him at bush's side through the elections. And not let them make a scapegoat out of him.
Mark my words, in early august he's gonna have a "heart event" and then step down. It's all a Rove trick...
No one scares me more than Cheney--except the machine he is a tool of.- ecorona, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Very intriguing theory except for one problem. Fred Thompson and anyone else running for President is not that ***** retarded to ally themselves with Bush at the moment. They would totally get screwed in the elections. Bush's approval ratings are lower than dirt. Who wants to be a part of that?
- 11111andre11111, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1The man who wants to be a part of that is the one who will be credited with the inevitable turnaround. Since Cheney's numbers are, and have been, in the teens for years now, anyone replacing him will boost Bush's numbers.
Suddenly Bush doesn't need to admit mistakes, and a new face can be credited for any successes.
Look, I'm terrified of these criminals, but we've seen them do worse. Rove is brilliant. And ultimately loyal only to Bush--that's why Karen Hughs left, and countless others. Cheney has served his purpose.
And, at the end of the day, Thompson doesn't have a chance against the pack without this. He'd leap at it.
Let's not be fooled again...- pissflaps, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Neither Bush nor his administration HAS admitted mistakes since the inauguration. I don't know how it would start any time after someone replaces another huge ***** up in the pool.

- mos6507, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4I'm afraid of what Bush and Cheney may be capable of doing before their term is over, though. Since they have nothing left to lose, they seem to be on a rush to finish any unfinished business of the neocon agenda.
- GhengisKhan, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1You are dumber than a mud fence.

- pintomp3, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5sadly, the democrats want to keep them in office. they are a liability to the republican presidential candidates. the downside of democracy is these political games.
- ecorona, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4You make a good point. Picture this, Bush and Cheney are out and Pelosi steps in. No matter what she does, the dynamic duo that is Fox "News" and Rush Limbaugh will make sure it looks like the dumbest thing to do. As long as Bush is in power, it may secure a win for 2008 and then we can see a real change in the government.
- GorfTron, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4The ice is very thin and cracking. Any more major issues will sink this administration.
- pintomp3, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2the ice has been cracking for years. thanks to the corporate media, the focus keeps getting shifted to iphones and paris hilton instead though. in the unlikely even they do fall through, they get plenty of life preservers from people like murdoch, o'rly, limbaugh, hannity, malkin, coulter etc.
- Sunking278, on 10/11/2007, -1/+0I generally agree with you, but as far as Michelle Malkin goes, she is not drinking the Kool Aid anymore. She's been tougher on Bush than most anyone throughout this whole amnesty debate. I'm not defending her, per se, just pointing out a fact.
- TexMurphy, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6Cheney Impeachment is something the democrats and the moderate republicans should do. Cheney has committed too many crimes not to go unpunished...
.
Impeach Cheney and unite America...... - tardpicard, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3I've got my own theories, but why do you guys think Pelosi has taken impeachment "off the table", well, as far as she is concerned anyway. I know I don't want to get into an impeachment war with the repubs, hell, they'll impeach for leaving the seat up. Do you think that's all there is to it though?
- AlmostEvil, on 10/11/2007, -2/+2If we hit that bullseye, the rest of the dominoes will fall like a house of cards. Checkmate.
- smacksaw, on 10/11/2007, -3/+1@art42
You are scary. The only thing as bad as being detained by a gov't like the US that isn't accountable is to be put in front of an international court.
Are you freakin' kidding me? It's the same damn thing, just a different puppetmaster pulling the strings. If you think Bush would get a fair trial in international court yet you realise that none of the detainees get a fair trial, I ask you: where does the logic escape you? - grr74, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4When the Reaganites want to impeach him, by God what are the dems doing??? If nothing happens to him, then I honestly feel there is no justice left in the U.S.
- ErrorS, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3I think an impeachment would be a good thing, just to bring to light some crimes or general way these people deal business.. however, you all realize you need 2/3 to vote someone out of office, right? "The dems have no balls!" "they're cowards and wont do anything!" "they're just as corrupt and paid off so they wont do anything!" I see this too damn often and I'm about tired of it. The.. Democrats.. don't.. have.. enough.. votes.. to.. do.. anything.. major... especially impeaching someone. You also need the 2/3 in the house to have impeachment hearings if I'm not mistaken..
If Republicans showed any real support (2-3 senators don't count) he WILL be impeached and removed from office, but they wont.- bitORlogic, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Then the Dems, all of them, and any sane Republicans in both houses, need to call for impeachment NOW. That way, we can see who votes against it and vote accordingly next congressional election. The public is hugely against the Bush administration. Time to put the thumbscrews to the immoral jerks who support them - are you with the administration, or with the public interest? If they want to take a stand against impeachment, let them do it boldly - and publicly.
- killersperms, on 10/11/2007, -4/+2Yawn.....
- DestroyFascism, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4You don't really believe the Democrats would even know where the light switch is let alone Impeaching someone....
- DangerCollie, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2"Ball's in your court. Time to step up to the plate. "
Anyone besides me think of Basketball? Psych out!- gak001, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Baseketball perhaps?
- smackedup, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2I have a question for anyone with a legal background. Can Bush and Cheney really be sent to a court of law for the way this administration has conducted itself? I know that standing Presidents can not be indited (sp) but does that hold true after they have left office?
- Asekigal, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0I don't have a legal background, but bush and cheney are guilty of more than just national crimes, they're guilty of international war crimes and of violating the constitution of the united states horrendously, the same constitution which they swore to uphold... with that in mind, I think they can be tried for a number of crimes, regardless of their current office.
Given the precedent of trying ... say.. Saddam Hussein? who committed crimes against his own people, or various other political leaders, after they are ousted from office I think it should be possible.- cutesegirl, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1The president of the United States can be indicted and served with a subpoena if a crime has been committed by him while in office. Then it goes to a grand jury and if probable cause exists, the ***** can be tried in court for his crimes. NO, he is not above the law, and there are many ways to deal with the likes of wannabe dicksuckers, I mean dictators like Bush.
- cutesegirl, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0Trouble is, the White House has the Department of Justice in there pocket also, (Gonzoles) or however the ***** you pronounce it. This is why the past six years has been so secretive with this administration. They own everybody in Washington DC (Dictrict of Criminals)
- BelXul, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Gonzo isn't a judge. He's an attorney at the base level. By the way, he's been hauled in before Congress a number of times already, and they're getting tired of the crap he's been spewing. His position won't protect him forever, and the same holds for his bosses.

- cutesegirl, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2Cheney goes in for heart surgery this summer to replace his pacemaker. Maybe the prick will die on the operating table and do America a big favor not to mention the savings of taxpayer money involved vs. impeachment proceedings.
- mrcoderga, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3In a government of laws, existence of the government will be imperilled if it fails to observe the law scrupulously. Our Government is the potent, the omnipresent teacher. For good or for ill, it teaches the whole people by its example. Crime is contagious. If the Government becomes a lawbreaker, it breeds contempt for law; it invites every man to become a law unto himself; it invites anarchy.
-- Justice Brandeis of the Supreme Court, 1928
Cheney has behaved as an anarchist. Best to impeach anarchists without delay. - mrcoderga, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4What would President Reagan have done?
Reagan's Deputy AG Fein said "Impeach Cheney."
Just so we are clear on where Reaganites stand on the issue of the lawlessness of this administration: The rest of the GOP today continue to say nothing, and in doing so, reveal themselves as not being Reaganites at all. - KatyKissinger, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I agree with Art42. The time for impeachment has passed...they should all be charged, and prosecuted.
- jsmith39, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0"Ball's in your court. Time to step up to the plate. (sorry for the mixed metaphors)"
Shouldn't have apologized. Most of this crowd probably didn't realize you'd mixed your metaphors. - bemenaker, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I'll digg this up this time, but next time, link to the damn slate article instead.
