Our prayers are with him and his family. No sense to discuss politics here.
BobK on December 13, 2006 at 4:30 PM
Prayers and well wishes to Senator Johnson and His family. And wishes for a full and complete recovery.
William Amos on December 13, 2006 at 4:46 PM
How sad - no time for politics here. He is a young man by my standards and from the Jewish side of the aisle my prayers for his - r’fuah shilaimah - “complete healing” are going his way.
Let me say - MSNBC is digraceful. this is from their website -
In addition to concern about Johnson’s immediate health, his illness draws political concern in that the Democrats currently hold a 51-49 advantage in seats, giving them control of the Senate.
Should Johnson, 59, not be healthy enough to be resign from the Senate, according to the South Dakota Secretary of State, the governor of South Dakota may appoint a replacement. The appointment would last until the next general election — in this case, 2008. Johnson’s term happens to expire in 2008.
The governor of South Dakota is Republican Mike Rounds. Should there be a vacancy as a consequence of Johnson’s illness and Rounds appoints a Republican to fill the term, that would make the count 50 Demorats and 50 Republicans. Under the rules of the Senate, ties votes are settled by the vote of the vice president - currently Republican Dick Cheney - effectively giving control of the Senate to the Republicans.

Well, to be fair to MSNBC, I wouldn’t have even thought of this side of the story if they hadn’t reported it. And it is kind of interesting to say the least.
But as someone else said, it is a bit premature to thinking of death. Strokes don’t always kill people. No one wishes for that anyway.
Something tells me that if the case had been the opposite, The DU crowd would have been openly wishing for the death of a Republican.
It doesn’t surprise me (and it makes me proud) that no one here said anything of the sort.
Rightwingsparkle on December 13, 2006 at 5:11 PM
I’m not considering politics until it’s necessary, and just feel terribly bad for a man so young and for his family if he has suffered a stroke - debilitating or slight.
It’s horrible and shame MSNBC…we don’t even have a clear picture of his actual condition and they are already worried GOP might get the edge.
DemStreamMedia and the left– if they are making the accusation it usually means what they would do or do do.

...why do only Dem Senators get hit with "accidents" or health problems.
1. Wellstone
2. Carnahan
3. Daschle and Leahy anthrax attacks
Now Dem Johnson.
Coincidence?
I will also point out for all the conspiracy-minded among you that there are rf radiation weapons (2d generation being tested now) that disrupt blood vessels and breakdown body tissue. They can be in cellphones and cameras.
Arafat and even Sharon may have been a couple of recent victims.
***SERIOUSLY, PEOPLE, THIS IS HOW THE DEMS THINK!!!!!
Our collective prayers will work miracle (2+ / 0-)
The Senator will be fine. Nothing is going to take away our victory. Period. In our own ways, let us all pray for him and his family. God Bless the US Senate.
***WHO CARES ABOUT THE SENATOR, NOTHING WILL TAKE AWAY THE DEMOCRAT VICTORY!!!!!
PLEASE!!!!!!! (43+ / 0-)
for the sake of the country, God, please let him be OK!!!!

jfk, rfk, and.... (0 / 0)
ML King were all assassinated for calculated political reasons, and george wallace was the victim of an attempted political assassination (done by nixon's operatives) -
LH oswald and sirhan sirhan and JE ray were all patsy setups.
jimmy carter's failed attempt to rescue the iranian hostages was deliberately sabotaged by ollie north, for reagan's benefit.
you have to understand the sick nature of the really evil people that inhabit the dark side, the repub side.

***YOU LIB-TARDS MUST BE PROUD
Go ahead, see if I'm cherry-picking, investigate the links for yourself - BigKitty, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12You're right. Regardless of our politics, we ought to be praying for him.
- Equalizer, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8Yes, we should.... I just find it astounding how the Kos Kidz are way more concerned about what this means for the Senate and their conspiracy theories than the Senator himself...
- easyjet95, on 10/12/2007, -5/+11Why are you surprised by the Kos Kidz? Liberals have always been more concerned about power and politics than about more important things. MsNB(c)S just proved that nicely for me.
- whereisian, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Democrats and Republicans should be concerned over what will occur over this. It's sad that the man is ill, but separate the man from the role for a second. This may represent the balance of power in the senate. I think it's stupid that this moral scoreboard is going on at all.
- stimcaps, on 10/12/2007, -10/+7You spoiled your own argument with your "LIB-TARDS" comment.
- p0s3r, on 10/12/2007, -5/+9Really, is anyone surprised? Just go look at digg that made the front page. It's not as bad as the Kos Krazies, but it's close.
- Jagdhund, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9That is sickening that people would jump to that conclusion first. My prayers go out to the senator.
- DannoJyD, on 10/12/2007, -5/+10It looks as if the guy will be OK, thankfully.
Democrats are extremists who only worry about retaining power inside of America? Well, what else is new? - Deuc, on 10/12/2007, -7/+8I'm just going to rattle off a few points here without much flow, because I don't think this deserves anything more.
It's a silly idea that a couple of comment threads are going to be proof of anything. There are people in the Hotair thread hoping that the Senator would have to retire. There are people in the DailyKos thread arguing against the conspiracy theorists. There are 72 Hotair comments at the time of my writing this, versus 513 DailyKos comments, obviously it's much easier to pick out a few nuts from all that. DailyKos from my understanding also has a more liberal moderation scheme.
The OP's blatherings are more rabid than those posts anyway. Eg. The use of all caps, "LIB-TARDS" and "***WHO CARES ABOUT THE SENATOR" when the referenced post is titled "Our collective prayers will work miracle" with the next words saying that he'll be fine. It goes without saying that people would want him to be OK (Although it has been said many times in the DailyKos thread.) and while it is cynical to think that the Republicans would use it as opportunity to take keep control of the house, it would be silly and boring (and a very quiet blogosphere) if some people did not consider other facets of the story.- sharpfork, on 10/12/2007, -5/+3how about we revise the title to be, you know, TRUE: "Reader Comments from Partisan Blogs Proof About the True Nature of that Particular Commenter."
To argue that comments in a blog represent all the readers in a positive or negative way is a logical fallacy. In this digg and comments, Equalizer tries to use Hasty Generalization to paint a positive picture of conservatives from a few comments and a negative picture of liberals from a few comments.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hasty_generalization
Now go bury me down for bringing up that pesky logic thing in the middle Equalizer practicing Hasty Generalization in digg with traffic coming from hotair.com : ***SERIOUSLY, PEOPLE, THIS IS HOW THE DEMS THINK!!!!! - Jagdhund, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Well, I'm going to check the comments on both later and compare, right now KOS is NSFW for some reason. While I agree that it's a logical fallacy to compare them to ALL Republicans and Democrats, it does compare the crowds of HotAir and KOS on the subject of human tragedy and political importance of the event.
I'll update when I look at it later today. Please do so yourself so we can compare. - whereisian, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2I feel bad for the man but I am concerned for his role as senator and how it will impact the balance of power in the senate. He is a politician and his role needs to be filled, and it is still unclear how this will occur. THIS is the debate in my mind. THIS is what will affect the US.
Democrats and Republicans are both vying for the moral upper hand in this situation. I don't think either side wishes for a man to fall ill, but this line argument is pointless and counter productive. This false moralizing serves nothing and no one.
- sharpfork, on 10/12/2007, -5/+3how about we revise the title to be, you know, TRUE: "Reader Comments from Partisan Blogs Proof About the True Nature of that Particular Commenter."
- Jagdhund, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3////
Ok, time to post some of the less cherry picked ones. If you do not believe me, check out the forums yourself.
I'll do Hot Air for now and then KOS later when I can reach the site.
I'm not going to post the good ones on Hot Air, since the majority of them are 'Our prayers go to the senator's health'.
My comments are in parentheses. (())

"May God take care of him like the Senator would take care of us the American people first.. "
alyce on December 13, 2006 at 9:19 PM
((I sort of want to point out that if this were literal, it would mean that god would probably leave the senator for dead... but I hope the poster didn't have that double meaning))
"Go ahead and pray for his death. It’s not like there’s a God to answer your prayer… "
Enrique on December 13, 2006 at 4:45 PM
((This is from Hot Air, or rather, a troll on Hot Air, hoping to justify his actions with the supposed actions of his 'enemies'. I hope the comments on the page are tearing up his conscience, or even better, that he learns a lesson from them.))
"This is wrong on every level and I know it, but I’m going to admit it anyway. I’m praying he’s okay and suffers no severe long term damage, but that he has to retire anyway."
dementia unbound on December 13, 2006 at 4:30 PM
((I have heard that the senator is a good man and I don't mind if he remains in office. I'm annoyed that a conservative would say this.))
"""178. I don’t blame anyone for worrying about Senate control over his personal well-being. Control of the Senate is worth much more than any one life at this point in time. It could mean a great deal in terms of the environment, which is worth a great deal more. However, I’m quite sure he’ll be fine and unless he dies or resigns the Senate remains Dem.""" -KOS quote
"Yeah, who cares about him, his wife or his kids: as long as the Senate remains in their hands?
I’m with you; these pieces of crap are demented beyond any semblance of humanity and have the unmitigated gall to refer to themselves as progressive “humanists” (or whatever the latest hippie lexicon rage term is at the moment).
God help us all."

((The quote made me sick, and makes me afraid to even check out the KOS forums. The poster isn't very nice about it, but they have no reason to be))

I noted is a subsequent post…if dems are alleging things…that means they are thinking it , plotting it, or would never think twice about it…they are just sick…
Prominent Democrats pondered and celebrated putting a bullet between Bush’s eyes to get what they want
If they are thinking it, then they are prolly engaging in it - worry of Senate Balance over the mans well being
Typical Dirty Democrat. "

((Angry conservative blasts Dems for thinking of the conspiricies. I want to report this to show an example of some of the 'bad' posts on Hot Air regarding this issue.))
That's all I have for now. Look forward to my posting of the KOS situation later.- aaronwolfe, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Don't forget these:
