- slickmick, on 10/30/2007, -0/+23This is surreal. What a bogus way to poll, and out MSM says NOTHING about it.
- inactive, on 10/30/2007, -0/+15This makes the Rasmussen poll useless and it should be completely ignored as inaccurate.
This is typical of those in the media who have their best interest and the interest of those who paid for the poll as the center and truth is not even in the equation.
The error margin on this poll is 50+% - SheilaNoya, on 10/30/2007, -0/+15Rasmussen is a "Republican" poll that magically manages to show Bush with much higher approval ratings than all other polls do. It's clear that they don't support Ron Paul because he opposes the war and Bush's foreign policies. As I've said a million times before, Ron Paul's biggest threat is coming from the power brokers of his own party. If you want Ron Paul to win, you have to be louder and more visable than the old-school Republican propaganda machine which is trying to drum you out.
- babcat, on 10/30/2007, -0/+12This is totally unacceptable! Ron Paul should be included in the poll.
- CurtisLow101, on 10/30/2007, -0/+12Dishonest Business as usual...... It really gets me why someone would not want freedom from government? I guess that's what are world has come to "a bunch of lies"
- slickmick, on 10/30/2007, -0/+10Reed, they don't know that there are more candidates after the "other" option until they press it.
You can't honestly think this is a fair way to poll, Reed. Do you? - Corrosionx, on 10/30/2007, -1/+11They can't, they base their credibility on some of these polls. Like some Paul-haters on digg that their only argument is how low Paul shows in the "scientific" rigged polls.
- nullvalu, on 10/30/2007, -2/+11Uhh, last I checked there are 12 buttons on a phone keypad.. why would they even have to have an "other" option? they could easily put all 12 candidates in the first prompt, rather than their annointed 5 and and an other option.. I call Bull *****.
- biggsdarklight, on 10/30/2007, -0/+9The fact that they poll in this fashion is really irritating but what is unethical is how the MSM uses these polls as gospel regarding public sentiment of a candidate. They are flat out inaccurate and biased. If you don't have money you don't get placed to poll well and if you don't poll well the media reminds people of this fact. People are led to believe that these candidates have "no chance" but it's a self fulfilling prophecy.
- Franky66, on 10/30/2007, -0/+7Pure propaganda...trying to sway public opnion...goes on all the time and is very effective.
- Corrosionx, on 10/30/2007, -0/+7Talking about conspiracy theories, remember when Hannity was saying "Must be those damn Paulites redialing over and over again" when it was actually impossible to vote more than once?
- rg123, on 10/30/2007, -0/+7I have been saying for 5 months that Rasmussen, Zogby, and Real Clear Politics polls are rigged. These are the polls which the MSM use to keep candidates out of the debates by % amount. The same polls all neocon sites are like Malkin pajamas and others use to control the election. These poll co
are owned by people who control stuff. Follow the money with Zogby etc. - smokeymcblunt, on 10/30/2007, -0/+5Yeah, its not rigged. It's just an attempt to keep Ron Paul (and every other "2nd tier" candidate) name away from people who don't know about them yet. There is absolutely no legitimate reason to have "other" when there are enough keys to list all candidates. It is subtle manipulation of the polls to get a desired result.
- CarlDeen, on 10/30/2007, -0/+4They have every trick in the book to keep Ron Paul's numbers down. Make sure Ron Paul's name never or seldom appears such as listing Huckabee but not Paul and such as matchups that never include Ron Paul
- stoutej, on 10/30/2007, -0/+3This isn't a conspiracy theory. It's a legitimate objection to an alleged (though unconfirmed) polling method. I do agree though that anyone firmly supporting Ron Paul will do what they can to indicate him as their choice.
The fact is, these polls are largely name recognition. To include Ron Paul's name with the others might give him a small boost, but not much. [May I remind you though that the primary votes will not be random phone polls based upon name recognition. The "scientific" polls (even if accurate representations of the general public) are not sampling the population likely to vote in the primaries!]
If you took the time to read the entire thread, you also saw charges that people have gotten calls without Ron Paul as a choice. One person offered him as their choice and was hung up on. I've heard these charges numerous times. Again, it's hard to confirm them. But if true, they would be MUCH more egregious than Rasmussen's biased poll. - nicholai, on 10/30/2007, -0/+3I knew there was something wrong with the polls from the start but this is even worse than I thought it would be. The good news is, this proves the online and text polls are right and Ron Paul will win the 08 election.
- SeethisPass, on 10/30/2007, -0/+3Go ahead and call it what it is, rigged. Heavy bias in polling is rigging the poll .
- ashlux, on 10/30/2007, -0/+3The reality is polls can be bias and open for inaccuracies. Check out: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opinion_poll#Potentia ...
But you'd be right to say "rigged" isn't the correct word to describe this poll. "Inaccurate" or "bias" poll would be more appropriate. - SeethisPass, on 10/30/2007, -0/+2Should NOT be expected but is.
- kreativenaim, on 10/30/2007, -1/+3Well now that's interesting. I don't know whether I would call such polls "rigged", but they certainly carry a heavy bias and are completely inaccurate representations of Ron Paul's popularity.
- Sharky35, on 11/01/2007, -0/+1Ron Paul doesn't support the government.
I am a registered Libertarian, usually vote Republican for impact, but OMG there IS NO DIFFERENCE BETWEEN REPUBLICANS AND DEMS. THE GOVERNMENT NEED A GIANT DOUCHE TO WASH THEM ALL OUT TO SEA! - thechitowncubs, on 10/30/2007, -1/+2Should be expected.
- ilikemike, on 11/05/2007, -0/+0Mike Huckabee just got put on the daily tracking page of Rasmussen a few days ago, and only after some lobbying. While I understand your point of view on the poll it seems to me that a committed supporter will press other and not the other options if they are not a supporter. It is an extra step, and an inconvenience, but it is pretty minor.
I have heard that the land line aspect tends to skew polls more toward the Democrats, which is why many polls that showed Kerry was doing so well in the polls in 2004, turned out to not be accurate. These pollsters are also forced to make some arbitrary cutoff of candidates to poll about. The average person at home who receives a call from a pollster - automated or not - is not going to go through an interactive voice response system that lists more than a handful of candidates.
The only poll that matters is the one on election day anyhow - so whether it is one candidate or the other - we'll all know soon enough how scientific Rasmussen, Zogby, etc. are. - MadMushroom, on 10/30/2007, -2/+2Sorry for the negative digg! I hit the wrong button!
- gamebittk, on 10/30/2007, -3/+1Innacurate. If you read the guys post on the forum, he said that Ron Paul was listed, but just after the "other" options. (ex. Press 6 for Huckabee, Press 7 for "Other", Press 8 for Ron Paul).
- reed311, on 10/30/2007, -16/+1Mmm, hmm. The poll is rigged, right. Everything is a conspiracy with you guys. Unlike web polls and text message polls (which can be spoofed to vote multiple times). People are free to select "other" which would then boost Ron's percentage. If people truly supported Ron they would wait until the "other" comes up. Do you think someone would just randomly select Ron as their favorite if they knew nothing about him, but just heard his name on the prompt? Please!
Gallup (the most respected and accurate of all polling companies) lists Ron and has him somewhere around 1-3% with a 1% margin of error.
Regardless, Ron is listed as an "other" candidate. People still have the option to vote for him. There is going to be a lot of excuses during the Republican primaries when Ron Paul is destroyed. I wonder what excuses we'll see?
