- Ridgeliner7, on 09/13/2008, -0/+1I suppose it was sent since polls show about 15%, equally among Democrats and Republicans, still have concerns that Barack Obama is a Muslim, with radical ties. 15% in a close election, as this promises to be, isn't a small number.
Some even question his citizenship, claiming Obama hasn't been forthcoming in providing documentation.
As I understand it, Obama is a Christian, right? Born in Hawaii? I just cannot understand why that is still an issue.....
As for the Muslim religion being radical or violent, it isn't.
However, I have always assumed that for the very reasons many radical leftists here on Digg and elsewhere always bait their posts about anyone being Christian are fundamentalists, who believe the earth is 5,000 years old and talk in tongues, there are those who insist on making all Muslims out to be violent terrorists.
If Obama were a Muslim, it would be a religion one could take pride in. - pennsykid2000, on 09/14/2008, -0/+0We received this in our paper today (Sunday). In past weeks, a copy of the New Testament has been enclosed with our paper in some areas, producing letters to the Editor on either side of that. Are these inserts related? part of a far-right religious conspiracy to demonize Islam and proselytize for Christianity? This stuff is so much BS. If this is being sponsored by Republicans, this is a new low. I saw another item indicating that even Karl Rove is embarrassed by McCain's tactics. That speaks volumes.
- meechmouse, on 09/13/2008, -1/+1So I had to submit this story to Diggs, rather than digging the others for one reason. I don't want to get off on a tangent about all the reasons Islam is or is not radical. What I want to concentrate on are the two questions I posed at the end of the description - why target certain states & why now?
To begin the discussion, I will give you my opinion.
1. Certain states were targeted, I am sure, because they are swing states or states that are turning colors (red to blue). This is the same tactic that was used in 2004, with the whole John Kerry doesn't know enough about Iraq to "finish" what we started. When are we going to be MORE afraid of the people who actually run our government based on fanatical Christianity, bombing Iraq, thinking that the mission is from God, than we are of people who are just bad people - PERIOD -?!?
Please I implore each of you who support Obama to continue to go out and deliver the message that Barack Obama does not practice ISLAM. He has been fired at so many times about Revered Wright yet he is supposed to have religious ties to Islam? Doesn't make sense. For all of the McCain supporters who make less than $250K a year (which I bet is the category that most of you fall into), think about this. The tax increases that Obama proposes DOESN'T apply to you...actually they will give you a $1,000 tax rebate that will buy you approximately 250 gallons of gas (vs. about 900 gallons of gas in 2000) and will likely create an opportunity for you to get secondary education and/or healthcare. I will tell you what Barack Obama WON'T do for you, that McCain will...McCain acknowledges that there will be more wars, so is he setting you all up to get scared and/or angry enough to throw domestic common sense out the window for the "security" from Al Quaeda? Barack Obama wants to concentrate on Al Quaeda, the group, not the religion of Islam. Why? Because that the root of the problem with 9/11 - Bin Laden. Bush agrees with this which is why he authorized a secret invasion of Pakistan. McCain will also tell lie after lie and continue to get a free pass. A liar is a liar. If he will lie about Sarah Palin, her earmarks, his support of Veteran benefits when the voting records speak for themselves and countless other things, what else will he lie about? Tell me what you think. Does he just think that you all are just stupid people who can't think for yourselves? Or is it that he feels that he is not accountable to what he says and can change anytime his audience changes? Oh, and another question...where are the weapons of mass destruction that he thought justified going into Iraq even before Bush talked about it seriously?
2. Why now? If the video was made 2 years ago, why was it run on the 7TH anniversary of 9/11 instead of the 5th or the 10th? It was run because it is a playground ploy to hold the bully until he's so stark raven mad that he'd do anything once he got loose. Guess what people, that stark raven bully is US! There is always a chance that when you drive, you may get into a fatal accident or fall in the shower and kill yourself, but who the hell sits home and doesn't bathe? I am not minimizing the effect of 9/11 because I was in the military before and after it happened. McCain supporters, start demanding that they stop playing on your emotions and start talking to your brain. If "Experience" is your answer to why you are voting for McCain, and nothing else, then maybe you need to continue watching Fox News, getting sound bites to regurgitate at the water cooler at your place of employment which will probably go away (to China or Mexico). If that's not the extent of your McCain-Palin knowledge, you'd better start holding these people accountable for lying to you now because, as Bush has shown, once he gets into office, he doesn't give a damn about you or the things he said he'd do for you. All he wants is your vote. Would you give someone money BEFORE they work?!? So why the hell do you think people can lie before they become President and tell you the truth when they get into office? To simplify this issue, vote for Barack Obama, because you could at least tell folks "I supported Barack Obama from the beginning." You know, sort of like Palin and the bridge to nowhere.
*Deep sigh*. I feel better. Tell me what you think. - darwigg, on 09/14/2008, -0/+0Oddly enough though the one person they track down in this article as being a possible sponsor of the video is a Democrat. Curious to know who's behind all this and if it is a Democrat it wouldn't be helping their cause unless they want people to believe it came from the Republicans... strange times.
