Racist bar in Marietta gets new sign
andy2000.org — Mulligan's, the racist bar in Marietta, Ga. selling t-shirts depicting Sen. Barack Obama as a monkey, unveiled its new logo today. I think it's "cute".

Grow up. I'm sorry that this one white person offended you but reverse racism is just as bad as good ol' regular racism. There is now a generation of white kids who just want to move on with the issue and whole bunch of people of every race who still want to be victimized by it. Show me you ARE a bigger person not by doing this type of stupid *****, but by being a leader in your community by helping kids get out of the cycle of poverty put forth by a culture of irresponsibility and lack of consequences.- ParaSwarm, on 05/14/2008, -3/+16Nope. You lose. Firstly, he probably created the sign to protest a racist bar that sells t-shirts depicted of Obama as a monkey. http://digg.com/politics/WTF_Pic_of_the_Day_Racist ...
Secondly, the "cute" is obviously sarcasm. He is denouncing it in a way you seemingly didn't catch. People who want to be victimized? The guy sells racist t-shirts, and you think putting a racist icon with a racist store is wrong?
Be a leader in your community by helping kids get out of the cycle? What are you, on crack? The guy made a picture. He's not trying to save the world. What have you done in your community to help kids get out of the cycle of poverty? Your failed attempt to sound ethical and intelligent just comes off as sounding ridiculously naive and silly. Better luck next time, Mr. High Horse.- drachemorder, on 05/14/2008, -8/+7So, calling Obama a monkey is somehow "racist", but you liberals have been comparing Bush to a monkey for years and nobody gives it a second thought. Bit of a double standard here perhaps? Comparing someone to a monkey is a classic insult. It has nothing to do with race. It was funny when it was Bush; it's still funny when it's Obama.
- bemenaker, on 05/14/2008, -2/+8No, it's not racist. Calling Bush a monkey is a slam on his intelligence level. Calling a Black a monkey is has a historical precedence in racism. Sorry, but that's the facts.
- archiesteel, on 05/14/2008, -2/+6drachemorder: Bush is white. There is no racist tradition of comparing whites to monkeys. Please get a clue.
- Laughsatyou, on 05/15/2008, -1/+1so?
- ParaSwarm, on 05/15/2008, -0/+1"so?" All 3 of your comments on this page make no sense. How is "so?" possibly a response to the comment above? You are strange and retarded.
- ParaSwarm, on 05/14/2008, -2/+5Wow, drachemorder. Epic fail.
Since you just assumed that everybody here is a "liberal", I'm assuming that you're a conservative. If that's the case, I would imagine that you'd be more aware of the historical black person/monkey racism, considering that it was rednecks like you who invented it.
- Frinkiac, on 05/14/2008, -6/+4At the risk of being even more unpopular, yeah I got the reference and got here from the comments left on the original article.
Secondly, yeah I got that too. I got the fact that he is denouncing it by making wise cracks and only worsening the problem of some idiot who wants press for his ***** hole bar.
Thirdly, yeah I do help out. I go to the University of Georgia and live in Athens for two thirds of the year. Without the university, Athens would be well below the poverty line and it permeates every single inch of that city. I DO volunteer at the local boys and girls club. I HAVE helped those kids with their homework and played basketball. I have driven past and been almost reduced to tears because of the conditions that they grow up in and will continue to for the rest of their lives. I see the missed opportunities that every single one of those kids will most likely never receive. And I have been absolutely infuriated by the culture that they grow up in. One where condom is a foreign word and girls are considered lucky if they aren't teenage parents. Where parents don't know how to take care of their kids because they weren't taken care of. And where kids throw bricks through windows because the box they were sliding down the hill on finally broke and not a parent in sight. Don't call me out for actually giving a ***** about these kids because it truly does break my heart for the stupid ***** that they have to put up with through no fault of their own. I've been there, I've seen it, and I've lived in it. And one of the biggest detractors to actually getting out of the cycle of poverty is to stop feeling like someone owes you something and to do the damn work. Reverse racism is just as prevalent if not more so than true racism in the south. I've listened to comments on both sides of the fence and they're both just as hurtful and hearken from a time that men hung other men from trees.
Digg me down, I know you want to.- anstice85, on 05/14/2008, -1/+7There is no such thing as "reverse racism". The term itself is nonsensical: something is either racist or it isn't.
- ParaSwarm, on 05/14/2008, -2/+4Anstice85 is right. "Reverse racism" is an imaginary concept that you're invented.
The KKK is still very active in many parts of the country. Racism is very strong in many regions. Here in Oklahoma it is quite prevalent. My wife quit her job at an oil company a month ago because the boss there refused to hire a retired ex-navy African American on the basis that "they don't hire those kind of people." Now, you seem to be saying that calling him a racist is "reverse racism", and it's just as bad as the racism itself? You must be smoking crack.
That's nice that you volunteer for the Boys and Girls club. That doesn't mean racism is limited to your region; nor does it mean that you can create silly terms to attack anybody who speaks out on racism awareness. Yes, a picture of a KKK mask on this bar's sign is aptly fitting and it would be an appropriate picture to protest outside their establishment with. Calling out racism isn't reverse racism, it's raising awareness of the problem and making more people take notice.
I imagine you look the other way when you see a KKK parade marching down the street. God forbid you participate in reverse racism and act "vicitimized", while other people are truly being victimized elsewhere.- Laughsatyou, on 05/15/2008, -1/+2are there lots of KKK marches in your area?
- drachemorder, on 05/14/2008, -8/+7So, calling Obama a monkey is somehow "racist", but you liberals have been comparing Bush to a monkey for years and nobody gives it a second thought. - anstice85, on 05/14/2008, -1/+10What the hell is with racists using the term "reverse racism"? Something is either racist or it isn't: the term ITSELF is racist as it implies that only one color can be racist, and that other colors who are racist are somehow on another level.
- Laughsatyou, on 05/15/2008, -1/+2now you are learning.
- ParaSwarm, on 05/15/2008, -1/+1"now you are learning"? What does that mean? Stop trying to sound smart and mysterious in this post and in the above one, please.
- Laughsatyou, on 05/15/2008, -1/+2now you are learning.
- ParaSwarm, on 05/14/2008, -3/+16Nope. You lose. Firstly, he probably created the sign to protest a racist bar that sells t-shirts depicted of Obama as a monkey. http://digg.com/politics/WTF_Pic_of_the_Day_Racist ...
- Dwebtron, on 05/14/2008, -13/+7who cares? isn't ***** like this covered in the first amendment? An African American can call me a cracker but I can't call him a monkey? So some people have a few opinions that insult others. Fine; as the Beatles said, let it be. If those people carry out actions and harm others based on those words, then it's an issue.
"Sticks and Stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me" - > apparently they will? - j1ggy, on 05/14/2008, -8/+5Awesome. We should make that into a t-shirt and sell it. With Rick Astley on the back of course.
- culbeda, on 05/14/2008, -2/+6Or we could bitchslap anyone who references Rickrolling until they figure out that that joke is played out and tiresome.
- stretch611, on 05/14/2008, -2/+6Str8FromTheA -- Stop spamming this story... Last I looked, you had 5 comments in one thread linking back to this page....
- rentmitchum, on 05/14/2008, -5/+6I say burn the place down.
- diamondbigdog, on 05/14/2008, -4/+3Do you think you would stand a chance against a bunch of good ole boys and their guns?
- Panzwhore, on 05/14/2008, -0/+3Yes let us inhibit free speach and just burn the property of everyone we don't like; very american
- Andisheh, on 05/15/2008, -0/+0Put your matches away. Just mock the bar and its patrons.
- rentmitchum, on 05/14/2008, -2/+8On second thought, this is stupid.
- rentmitchum, on 05/14/2008, -1/+4There, undugg, buried.
- diamondbigdog, on 05/14/2008, -6/+3Who cares? What goes around, comes around.

- kmlixey87, on 05/14/2008, -1/+2I dont agree with the message of racism, but i agree that this is america, and they are entitled to their beliefs and to voice them. hell i love being able to walk down the street and say "***** bush" as im sure they love walking down main street screaming "i hate blacks, asians, hispanics and jews" this is america, say what you want. key word "say"
- Shadowdev, on 05/14/2008, -2/+1So... should I call the ghost busters or something??
(In all seriousness though... this is over playing the whole situation a bit) - Panzwhore, on 05/14/2008, -4/+2Seriously who cares about a stupid shirt? It's so insignificant
- davidmesaaz, on 05/14/2008, -1/+2you have got to be kidding me....
- Laughsatyou, on 05/14/2008, -4/+2his t-shirt gave me a new avatar. ;)
- Andisheh, on 05/15/2008, -0/+2For the record, I called the sign "cute" to mock the owner of Mulligan's. He called the monkey pictures cute in the first story about the t-shirts, which appeared yesterday in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
I think signs and logos should accurately represent what customers can expect to find inside. In the case of Mulligan's, it's food, drinks, and racists. That's why I made the sign. - krolm, on 05/15/2008, -0/+2that's funny!!!
