- Marlee, on 08/19/2008, -9/+79I love Rachel! More intelligent news finally :)
- Mard, on 08/19/2008, -13/+81It's about time! She always seemed a tad more credible than Dan, despite the format of his show giving him the final word. I'll be tuning in to see how this develops, though odds are it'll be the same hard hitting factual content we have seen from Rachel when she covered for other hosts during vacations in the last several months.
Rachel will be on Countdown tonight (Tuesday) to discuss this news with Olbermann. - kingsal, on 08/19/2008, -12/+68Although I like Dan Abrams, I think Rachel is perfect for the 10 PM spot (following Keith). Very intelligent, former Rhodes Scholar.
Also, I remember Kieth said that when Rachel guest-hosted Countdown it beat Bill'O, so it's a smart ratings play for NBC.
Maybe I'll buy some GE stock. - inactive, on 08/20/2008, -4/+56And by immediately we mean 9/8/08.
- macaca, on 08/19/2008, -8/+53Finally someone with an Intelligence + Personality.
- ultra353, on 08/20/2008, -10/+51liked Dan--LOVE Rachel
Unfortunately, there aren't any strong Dem voices on TV--besides Olbermann. The "liberal media" canard has been so effective in scaring the media into over representation of the "strong and wrong" republican POV vs. very weak Dems who continually fail to point out OBVIOUS falsehoods as well as truths that bolster the Dems' stance on the issues--it's no wonder 70% of Americans want to drill more when the oil co's are ALREADY sitting on 65 million acres of offshore sites--as well the fact that even with the most generous estimates of 3-5 years of actually producing "more" oil , the rise in demand will negate the pennies that we are forecats to save with new offshore exploration. - whodoes, on 08/20/2008, -12/+49Maddow is like ***** Bobby Fischer on these conservative imbeciles. She sees ten moves past the flamboyant idiocy of their horse ***** into the abyss of their fact-free morally incestuous rationalizations. While most progressives fall for the "flaming bag of dog poo" distraction techniques of the right wing sheeple Maddow rips the bitches apart like a merciless praying mantis and rarely needs more than ten seconds to do it.
- dumpyhumpy, on 08/20/2008, -3/+33Chuck Todd should get his own show. Preferably Meet The Press.
- lady49, on 08/19/2008, -28/+58I liked Dan Abrams!!!!
They should have replaced that loud mouthed, "you got that Hilary cackle" , dumb a$$ Joe Scarborough. - defektiv, on 08/20/2008, -5/+33No one deserves it more than her. She's worked hard and ALWAYS comes off as competent when she does commentary. Congrats to her, I hope she only continues to light fires under the proverbial asses of the people that need it!
- peticsu, on 08/19/2008, -6/+34I liked Dan, I wish he wouldve applied his legal knowledge a bit more rather than getting sloppy seconds and thirds of the news cycle
Rachel shouldve replaced David Gregory, or give her the Hardball rerun timeslot - hepcat, on 08/20/2008, -6/+34Go Dr Maddow!!!!! Been a big fan since the beginnings of Unfiltered. Here's hoping she's around for the long haul. I'm looking forward to the Meet The Press appearances to come.
- beacheagles, on 08/20/2008, -15/+40Thank you MSNBC!!!!! Couldn' t stand smug Abrams. Love Rachel. Great choice. Well done!!!
Thank you Rachel for your wisdom and your humanity...... We love hearing what you have to say. - birch25, on 08/20/2008, -4/+25rachel maddow is one of my favorite news personalities. i can't wait to see her on her own show. verdict was getting worse and worse anyway.
- richpav, on 08/20/2008, -1/+21Olbermann's not her type.
- inactive, on 08/20/2008, -9/+27MSNBC is the ***** place for politics. They have so many good shows, they blow competition out of the water.
- pattymi, on 08/20/2008, -7/+25Wooohooo! Bravo, Rachel!! She's the best and the brightest. MSNBC rocks!
- Reaktor5, on 08/20/2008, -8/+26She's great. And I just found out it launches September 9th.
I wonder what the style of the show will be. Hopefully, they'll put it up as a podcast like they do with Countdown, since Comcast decided to switch MSNBC off for non-digital cable subscribers. Thanks Comcast. *****. - jchrome, on 08/20/2008, -4/+22Agreed, Scarborough sucks balls. Abrams is no where near as bad as "Morning Joe".
- kingsal, on 08/20/2008, -1/+18the "favorable age group" is the group that really matters to advertisers because they have the greatest purchasing power/willingness to spend.
- birch25, on 08/20/2008, -1/+17she hosted countdown for two weeks straight while keith was on vacation a month or two back and she rocked it. it was only a matter of time before msnbc found a spot for her.
- vat0r, on 08/20/2008, -2/+17Your name is suitable.
- sockpuppets, on 08/20/2008, -5/+19I hope the next time a Tornado hits your trailer FEMA isn't around to help.
- tewstep, on 08/20/2008, -7/+21yes.
- SteveMTyler, on 08/20/2008, -0/+13I guess your digg must be broken since more than one person can't be on the same internet at the same time. Its not a dump truck.
- whodoes, on 08/20/2008, -0/+13i guess shes ok... if youre "political" or whatever.
- Oea420, on 08/20/2008, -3/+15Finally!
- maiku00, on 08/20/2008, -2/+14I hated Verdict. It was unbelievably superficial. The show embodied the worst side of the media- reduce complicated and nuanced issues into 3 minute soundbytes and declare a "winner". I'm happy to see it go, and even happier to see Rachel coming in to fill the new time slot.
- noen, on 08/20/2008, -1/+13mecharabbit - honey, do you know how... futile... that is? Trust me hun, she ain't into you. Not if you were the last man on earth.
- malex, on 08/20/2008, -4/+16Pretty much.
- acliffhang3r, on 08/20/2008, -3/+15Whenever I see Olbermann and Maddow in the same window I get this weird feeling that I am looking at twins that were separated at birth who don't quite know that they are related.
- OatmealBatman2, on 08/20/2008, -0/+12Joe Scarborough is a former Republican US Congressman from Florida, so yeah... he's "semi-conservative."
- Schmapdi, on 08/20/2008, -4/+16It's cool, I love Rachel - but I worry her being right after Keith will be a little much if you know what I mean? Kinda like they'll be discussing the exact same things night after night with pretty much the same viewpoint. Plus it means we'll lose Rachel as a guest commentator/sub-host.
Happy news overall, but still a mixed bag imo. Abrahams was ok as well, but I could take him or leave him tbh, I wonder what he'll be doing now? - wildkats74, on 08/20/2008, -2/+13Actually it says "immedi" which depending on translations and dialect means "9/8/08 at 9pm". so the headline was completely correct. Also, any replies to this will be replied to effective immedi.
- HouseofEl, on 08/20/2008, -1/+12I think Maddow has deserved her own show for a while. Abrams is good, but I believe he's probably going to stick around. He was after all MSNBCs general manager.
- mrinsanity, on 08/20/2008, -4/+15I think I'm a little gay for her. Yeah, that's right....
- dmoore764, on 08/20/2008, -1/+12You seamlessly addressed two different issues in this paragraph... Well done, I didn't even realize when I started reading about the pitfalls of offshore drilling!
- FlaG8r, on 08/20/2008, -0/+11Pat Buchanan is on all over the schedule. To a lesser extent Tucker Carlson is too.
- FlaG8r, on 08/20/2008, -0/+10Because it's so unlikely that that 3 people dugg it between the time you loaded the page and the time you clicked?
- kansai22, on 08/20/2008, -1/+11They should keep Dan Abrams and take Race for the White House off. All I can say is please do not let David Gregory become the host of Meet the Press. He will destroy that program.
- iPirate, on 08/20/2008, -0/+10She doesn't own a TV either. You might like her.
- meese, on 08/20/2008, -2/+11Here's the big difference between Fox News and MSNBC. Fox News regularly makes stuff up, and when they get caught, they move on.
Olbermann has a bias, sure, but he doesn't make stuff up. And the couple (I think two in the last year or so) times he really has reported something that was factually false, he corrects it in full on the show, and even has put himself on his own "worst person in the world" list. - sockpuppets, on 08/20/2008, -4/+13Go back to suckling the teet of Fox news then.
- rmmcclay, on 08/20/2008, -0/+8Rachel Rocks! Beautiful and Smart!
- tewstep, on 08/20/2008, -3/+11There's just something about her...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xtVbgcy4Xvw - brynlb, on 08/20/2008, -1/+9Truth has a left bias.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xtVbgcy4Xvw - inactive, on 08/20/2008, -2/+9Nobody's making you listen. If you don't like the "left wingers" pointing out the lies and propaganda of your favorite tabloid news channel, then you should stick to right-wing trash websites instead of coming around here.
- SoulDrift404, on 08/20/2008, -4/+11Are you always that much of a *****?
