- Aero347, on 10/11/2007, -38/+424Could we even refer to Bush as an American?
- Coridan, on 10/11/2007, -47/+429I denounce allegiance to the flag of the Corporate States of America, and to the megalomaniacs for which it stands, one nation under the Flying Spaghetti Monster, divided and plundered, with slavery and oppression for all.
- iAlex, on 10/11/2007, -42/+228It is time for revolution and impeachment. How long will you wait? When you all have RFIDs in your bodies and on all items? When you are called up to fight Iran in another meaningless war? Do you really think the Republicans will nominate Ron Paul even if he is strongly supported? No. That would ruin all their evil plans. Ron Paul make people aware, and that's an important role. Do you think all the military would go against the people? No, they might also be tired of this. Maybe they would help you (the military).
These idiots are also an influence on EU and other countries in the world, brainwashing them that wiretapping, censorship and so on is important for fighting terrorism, which is a lie. Terrorism is just a cover for what they want to do, turn USA and EU into a policestate. George W. Bush is just playing dumb so people would think "No way that idiot could be behind that", but the truth is, there are people behind him who take the decisions. The media is helping them very well, that is why they don't criticized the Iraq War and wrote so little about the so called WMDs. It is in everyone's interest to do something about it. It would be hard to organize, since the government would arrest people for "conspiring" against the government, and they would call it "Terrorism", they seem to be able to call everything terrorism these days. The wiretapping of phones and even Internet would also be obstacles. But there are ways to be anonymous on the web, with Tor http://tor.eff.org/ for example. It is time for you, the American People to do something about it, otherwise USA and the rest of the world is doomed to get worse and worse and what will you say to your children when they ask you, "why didn't you do anthing?"
Do something, please! - MrShlee, on 10/11/2007, -12/+92Abortions for some, miniature American flags for others!
- pastasauce, on 10/11/2007, -6/+84The Bill of Rights went out the window when the patriot act was passed. If they "think you're a terrorist," you have no rights.
- ghostlywind, on 10/11/2007, -16/+83Right now our forefathers are probably very ashamed of the government for ***** this country up so bad. Time to fix the government and keep idiots from getting more power than they need.
- PureForm, on 10/11/2007, -15/+75No
- insanebrain, on 10/11/2007, -8/+55yes. . and that is the big problem .. the rest of the world uses Bush as a perfect example of Americanism ..
- D4r7h3v1l, on 10/11/2007, -3/+49ood evening, London, erm... United States. Allow me first to apologize for this interruption. I do, like many of you, appreciate the comforts of every day routine- the security of the familiar, the tranquility of repetition. I enjoy them as much as any bloke. But in the spirit of commemoration, thereby those important events of the past usually associated with someone's death or the end of some awful bloody struggle, a celebration of a nice holiday, I thought we could mark this November the 5th, a day that is sadly no longer remembered, by taking some time out of our daily lives to sit down and have a little chat. There are of course those who do not want us to speak. I suspect even now, orders are being shouted into telephones, and men with guns will soon be on their way. Why? Because while the truncheon may be used in lieu of conversation, words will always retain their power. Words offer the means to meaning, and for those who will listen, the enunciation of truth. And the truth is, there is something terribly wrong with this country, isn't there? Cruelty and injustice, intolerance and oppression. And where once you had the freedom to object, to think and speak as you saw fit, you now have censors and systems of surveillance coercing your conformity and soliciting your submission. How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror. I know why you did it. I know you were afraid. Who wouldn't be? War, terror, disease. There were a myriad of problems which conspired to corrupt your reason and rob you of your common sense. Fear got the best of you, and in your panic you turned to the now high chancellor, Adam Sutler. He promised you order, he promised you peace, and all he demanded in return was your silent, obedient consent. Last night I sought to end that silence. Last night I destroyed the Old Bailey, to remind this country of what it has forgotten. More than four hundred years ago a great citizen wished to embed the fifth of November forever in our memory. His hope was to remind the world that fairness, justice, and freedom are more than words, they are perspectives. So if you've seen nothing, if the crimes of this government remain unknown to you then I would suggest you allow the fifth of November to pass unmarked. But if you see what I see, if you feel as I feel, and if you would seek as I seek, then I ask you to stand beside me one year from tonight, outside the gates of Parliament *clears throat* congress, and together we shall give them a fifth of November that shall never, ever be forgot.

- davidlitts, on 10/11/2007, -6/+40This isn't just the fifth amendment, its the first. just one more steeping stone to turning this oligarchy into a dictatorship.
- dappergeek, on 10/11/2007, -2/+34I was on active duty in the Army for 4.5 years and did one tour in Kuwait during the ground assault and one tour in Iraq last year. I'm currently in the Inactive Reserve (read: first line draftee) and this scares the crap out of me. If me or any other service member was called up on orders and decided that:
1. They're a contentious objector.
2. Or did not report for mobilization.
They have to wonder if their assets will be seized on top of all the other hell they receive for being a "pussy" or a "freedom hater". That's scary folks. That is really scary.
How far does this extend? What are the limitations on this Executive Order? After reading through it, it would appear that the document was written with the barest of boundaries that provide a blanket to cover almost any situation.
There was a post saying, "an Executive Order does not overwrite the Constitution" which is all well and good - except the way this thing is written - it appears that you have no judiciary recourse.
I vowed to uphold the Constitution of the United States. - skywake, on 10/11/2007, -9/+38actually we use Homer Simpson and Yosemite Sam to stereotype Americans.
We laugh at the fact that Bush is still in power and mock your general intelligence in keeping him in power but we laugh at Bush and his various Bushisms just as much as the "sane" Americans do so I don't think anyone thinks of Bush as the "perfect example of Americanism". Not that the "rest of the world" has a high regard for America anyway. - narutometal, on 10/11/2007, -10/+36Bush is a dog. He can't see the colors of the flag. I think it's time for a revolution my friends.

- wattznext, on 10/11/2007, -0/+21We must move forwards, not backwards. Upwards, not forwards. And always twirling, twirling, twirling towards freedom!
- aukxsona, on 10/11/2007, -10/+30shut up it's a ***** opinion which he entitled to you ***** wit. YOU are what's wrong with this country. He didn't say he was going to...he said someone should.

- wastern, on 10/11/2007, -4/+23I think its about time for a coup!!! Just imagine how much more damage they can do if we give them until 2008......
- Buddhaismybuddy, on 10/11/2007, -0/+18Only good presidents get assassinated.
- setilsn4, on 10/11/2007, -5/+23I have to agree with the fact that things NEED to change in America. However, even after so many crimes against the Constitution, the people, and the world...there are not many Americans that are willing to take that step that needs to be taken in order to facilitate change. I am willing to say that a good majority of Americans fall into one of these three catagories...self absorbed, scared, or disenfranchised...meaning they are either more concerned about buying that socially important IPhone, fell into the scare trap (scared of repercussions or terrorism...take your pick) the current administration has laid, or they feel that they have lost their voice in the current system, so they don't act or more saddening...Vote. How do you refocus people from themselves? Take that fear away? Restore their faith in the system? Whoever can do any of these things will be a power to be re-conned with and thus someone I could admire. Which leaves me wondering where our great motivators have gone...those that can stir up the people to do those things that need to be done. These people are out there...among the self absorbed, frightened, and disenfranchised...just a matter of waiting for when they too get fed up with the course things have taken.
- zubaz91, on 10/11/2007, -13/+31Well, he was born in America, so he's American and he believes in god, so he's also a citizen
- TKDWILSON, on 10/11/2007, -27/+44Wow. Did any of you actually read all of that?
(i) to have committed, or to pose a significant risk of committing, an act or acts of violence that have the purpose or effect of:
This law really says nothing. It says if you look like you are going to get violent ie have a knife in your hand in a crowd etc, or if you are committing a violent act
or
(ii) to have materially assisted, sponsored, or provided financial, material, logistical, or technical support for, or goods or services in support of, such an act or acts of violence or any person whose property and interests in property are blocked pursuant to this order; or
another words, if you pay someone to commit a violent act,.....
or
(iii) to be owned or controlled by, or to have acted or purported to act for or on behalf of, directly or indirectly, any person whose property and interests in property are blocked pursuant to this order.
if you are working for someone who falls under these categories (ie terrorists)
then
are blocked and may not be transferred, paid, exported, withdrawn, or otherwise dealt in: any person determined by the Secretary of the Treasury, in consultation with the Secretary of State and the Secretary of Defense,
you can't deal with anyone who is doing these things.
I don't see any loss of freedom in this one personally. I am not sure what you all think this means.
Eric Wilson - thatsmyaibo, on 10/11/2007, -2/+18Way to cut and paste your revolution in numerous posts.

... of course not, this is Digg - salmonmoose, on 10/11/2007, -2/+18Unfortunately, I'm Australian, and too concerned about removing our current government who is only too happy to support any government that brings us closer to returning to the values of the 50's - and the US govt is doing a great job of spreading that same hate and fear.
- wellyuk, on 10/11/2007, -2/+17c'mon guys! why dig him down? did you not get the reference?
- DemDude, on 10/11/2007, -3/+18What is it with you americans? Your president ***** up big time, americans agree on it, then someone from another country comes along saying "Dude, your pres ***** up big time", and you go all "yeah, but you got like, high taxes, and, er... commie health care n *****! So ***** you!"
We have 19% sales tax, which is a lot, but hey, I've got my ONE very well paid job, my very good, environmentally friendly, german car, and I can afford whatever I want! So do I give a *****? No!
And for health care - wow, amazing argument, your health care is massively ***** up, ours works just fine. Holy *****, I'm paying for decent health care for everyone, including myself? No Way! - stormgren, on 10/11/2007, -0/+15January 2009, you mean. :(
- david76, on 10/11/2007, -7/+22This Executive Order is about providing material support for the "terrorists" in Iraq. It not about preventing protests or suppressing free speech in the U.S.
- LakeshoreBaby, on 10/11/2007, -0/+14I'd like to digg up the forefathers and have them run the country again.
- Arcesius, on 10/11/2007, -1/+14nationalism.... how akin to racism, in that it separates you from so many people for such an idiotic reason...
- Battleloser, on 10/11/2007, -3/+15There's no need to pray to god, we can fix this ourselves.
- lopla, on 10/11/2007, -6/+18The foundation for the police state is almost complete. The final pieces can not be implemented until Bush detonates a few 1kt nukes on US soil. Then it's hello dictator, goodbye 2008 elections..
suckers. - lnf69, on 10/11/2007, -3/+15It's not illegal, yet, to desire someone's death by assignation, as far as I know. When thoughts become a crime the US will become the Soviet Union Of America.
- restriction, on 10/11/2007, -2/+13Blasphemy!

- TheProtested, on 10/11/2007, -0/+10remember, remember, the fifth of november.
- Grambo, on 10/11/2007, -1/+10Thinly veiled Nazi reference. Godwin's law has been fulfilled.
- rhawk301, on 10/11/2007, -2/+11He is a totalitarian fascist dictator. He makes these signing statements and Executive orders primarily to enforce his corporate agenda. Unless he stepped in and prevented anyone from helping Iraq, the highly profitable operations in the Middle East would not make as much money, and would even perhaps lose money. God forbid they can't make money and would even have to leave and come home.
The Iraqi people need to continue and make it really difficult for business to operate over there until they finally get the picture. - WoollyMittens, on 10/11/2007, -6/+15It means that if you demonstrate against the war in iraq and resist being beaten by the police, your assets will be frozen.
- hipnerd, on 10/11/2007, -1/+10@adrenaline33: "I am happy that my money doesn't go to people that have to go to the doctor every day."
But your money does go to pay fo the people who end up in the emergency room becasue they are too poor to get health insurance. America spends more than twice as much per capita on health care than any other nation on earth. For that money we are ranked 37th in the world in health care, right behind Costa Rica. We also have almost 50,000,000 citizens with no health insurance at all. We are the only industrialized nation to not cover all its citizens.
To sum up:
1. We pay twice as much as anyone else.
2.Even thouhg we spend all that money, we are ranked 37th in the world in health care, right in between Costa Rica and Slovenia.
3. And although we spend more than double per capita what any other nation does, we still have 50,000,000 unisured Americna citizens.
We pay more, get less for it and leave 50,000,000 Americans -- includng children -- at risk with no insurance. The most expensive universal healcare program in the world costs it's citizens less than half what we pay and does a better job of meeting the needs of its citizens. - Sippi, on 10/11/2007, -1/+10Thanks for serving our country! I just wish Bush would quit destroying what you and so many others have fought to create.....a free country
