- z00k, on 10/12/2007, -0/+70And there was much rejoicing.
- waxoff, on 10/12/2007, -0/+51Senators come out against RIAA on IP law. In related news hell freezes over...
- greenlight2001, on 10/12/2007, -1/+38Thanks for not using "BREAKING" in the title, but F you for starting something new ("Right Now")...
:P - acex23, on 10/12/2007, -1/+36thank God. They would not have wanted to open Pandora's box...
oh man I am lame. - jsully, on 10/12/2007, -0/+24This is the first decent thing I have ever seen Brownback do... strange how people start to act when they want to be president.

In before "pics or it didn't happen"

yay Oregon!! - colincornaby, on 10/12/2007, -5/+14This article can't be accurate. We all know Ron Paul is the only politician that can do anything right.
- wvannus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7I'm glad someone took care of this crap. I certainly bugged the hell out of my (GA) senators, but they were on the wrong side of the issue to begin with.
- GodsFavorite, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Ok, it's a start. Now we need to watch our current Congressmen and if they do not vote for this bill we flood them with letters and calls and make sure that they stay out of office. This fight is far from over.
- GodsFavorite, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6It wasn't one petition, it was people calling and emailing their local representitives too.
- TonksKC, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Oh goodie, nice to know that a petition actually made a difference :D
Man, I'm sure I wasn't the only one, but I was so upset when I heard that Pandora would've been shut down shortly after the internet radio fees increased. - Arcadian, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Yay!
- deadlygopher, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Every time Wyden does stuff like this, it makes me love living in Oregon even more. He came to my school earlier this year, and was willing to take impromptu questions from the audience on camera. He seems to me like the best possible legislator.
- Trel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+47.5% of Revanue
If it's a free service, I don't think they'd be making much. 7.5% of 0 is still 0 - LeanenStreet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Nice, OR/Wyden represent!
- fantasticFlan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Brownback . . . what's the catch?
- kindrobot, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I think this is a case of "ask for more than you deserve, get exactly what you wanted". But it's still a win for all of us.
Is it fair, though? Should a free streaming service have to pay the same percentage as a service that serves ONLY paying subscribers? (satellite radio) - motang, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Good, well I sent an email to my senator. Ever bit helps!
- simulastral, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2PLEASE VISIT http://www.savenetradio.org/
- ashmon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3SomaFM is the BOMB! They're the reason I found the BEST indie artist ever. Elliott Smith. I damn-near cry every time I hear a song of his. Such a tragic death. And Long Live Internet radio.
- karichisholm, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Hey folks -- Be sure to head on over to Senator Wyden's website, StandTallForAmerica.com, and join the campaign to support the Internet Radio Equality Act.
(Full disclosure - I manage that site for him.) - bkleynbok, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I think we need a new approach. Every time important issue comes along someone on Digg should post link to a web petition along with phone numbers to senators and congressmen.
After their lines and mailboxes are full from real people asing for action to be taking it will be hard to ignore.
Do I hate Hillary... She didn't have decency stop by in NYC one time since she announced she might be running for presidency... - Sultana, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Great news! Hope they can get some sort of bill passed to save internet radio :)
- NrgUser, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Go Kansas rep!
- RavagesOfTime, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Whoa, what happened there? Bury much?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I heart KEXP
- RavagesOfTime, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1As long as better things are getting done, I don't care what politicians are playing their political games. It could have been Jim Inhoffe sponsoring this bill because his kids liked getting music they don't hear anywhere else from the tubes, as long as it's done.
And Progulus stays alive for me. Yay. - MasteRR, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Any word on if this changes the fact that the new system is a blanket system covering all music, including indie artists? If it doesn't remove that part than it doesn't do enough.
- nicepants, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I recently moved from Kansas to Missouri, but during my time in Kansas, I would always send letters to Sam whenever an issue with technology, etc was coming before the senate for a vote. It's good to see he's on our side with this one.
Interesting coincidence...my mom went to college with Sam. He asked her out but she turned him down. - Leopards, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I checked and my Congressman Tim Ryan is a co-sponsor!! Thanked him for it, as he beat me to the punch and I didn't get to actually bug him about it!!
- deviantdarlings, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I have put quite a bit of time into my internet radio station and I'm ecstatic that it may not have been in vain.
radioxenu lives on! - catfishkempster, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1This is good new, of course... But I have a question:wouldn't this royalty deal they are thinking of over turning only be applicable in the U.S.? It shouldn't stop you from listening to international stations or broadcasting from any other location on the planet and being responsible to the laws of the land you are in, not those of the U.S.?
I guess it would boil down to international treaties... Or on the other hand, I might just be missing something. - radio1mike, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Great!
I can't tell you how many times I've listened to internet radio at work, when I could not receive any standard radio signals. - Razster, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Awesome, now I don't have to listen to SomaFM play there Ad about the Royalty Hike.
I can listen and donate to my fav: radio station in peace. - chorne, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Score one for the good guys!
- kindrobot, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1RIGHT NOW! I am considering starting a streaming service and doing absolutely nothing at all. Bring it on.
But this is still good news. - muffins, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1***** yeah!
- wetoddid, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0It hasn't passed yet. It's a little premature to be pouring champagne.
- Drakensteel, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0A recent political decision I agree with?
I must be misinterpreting this somehow. Or maybe its all some kind of scam..... - bluraven64, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0YES!!! I don't know what I would do without my dancestation and fusionradio! Thedancestation has already shut down (god I hope they re-open, their my fave) and fusionradio was probably going to be next. I am soooooo happy to hear this news you don't even know! WOOOOT!
- scudshooter, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Can this be right, politicians are doing something that starts to make sense? What kind of bizzaro world is this? In related news, I heard Ron Paul beat up Chuck Norris!
- nunchuks, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1stevens is gonna come down the tubes and slap all these pussy terrorist funding evil-doers into pieces. unless it's clogged by voIP.

What is Digg?
