- diggproof, on 05/03/2009, -8/+128Marijuana prohibition is ridiculous in the true sense of the word. I don't even smoke anymore and the fact that it's illegal is just plain stupidity. It's a damned plant for Pete's sake. Prohibition only puts the criminals in charge of the supply. They kill each other and innocent people over turf and market share.
- novenator, on 05/02/2009, -7/+82FTA - "event organizer Jacob Hunter, a pro-cannabis activist [cited] a recent Angus Reid poll that said 65 per cent of British Columbians support legalizing the Maui wowie to curb violence related to the drug trade.
Today is the day where many thousands across the globe will rally in support of one of the worlds oldest recreational substances. Find local marches at: http://www.globalmarijuanamarch.org/ - flossdaily, on 05/03/2009, -5/+65I'm not a smoker, and I also think it should be legalized. Too many lives are ruined by the harsh sentencing, police resources are being wasted, keeping it illegal only helps to fund drug cartels, and the economic benefits of legalizing and taxing marijuana are just too lucrative not to exploit.
- novenator, on 05/03/2009, -3/+37Agreed. I don't smoke the stuff myself (anymore), but fully advocate for it's complete legalization. I still look like a 'stoner' however, which can create some interesting situations.
- Metavised, on 05/03/2009, -0/+32I feel for you and agree, which is why whenever I go to protests I'm clean shaven and in a respectful suit and tie.
If I stayed home, and let all these douche bags gather in the name of marijuana, how can I complain when people get the wrong image of it's users? The only way people will change their perceptions is for the perceived to go out and change it. - MrUploads, on 05/03/2009, -3/+31I like pot, but I couldn't goto this event.
Look at the photo of the guy in the article. An affliction or Ed Hardy wearing goof with your typical douchebag shades, $10 polished crap necklace, and every 3rd word is "*****". Many of marijuana's supporters at these events are your uncultured dumb white kids who will dress like an MTV thug and smoke weed to try and find somewhere to fit in.
Meanwhile, I'm 31, run a business, and don't relate at all to this crowd. This crowd makes people like me look bad when I admit to using pot. - inactive, on 05/03/2009, -6/+31"Dude....weren't we supposed to do something today?"
Just kidding. I'm all for legalizing pot. It's a friggin' plant. I've never understood how humans can criminalize a plant. - diggproof, on 05/03/2009, -1/+24Same, guess the look stays with you. Permabake. ROFL! I wouldn't trade my smile for nothin'.

- aaronhoffmeyer, on 05/03/2009, -13/+33I was going to organize a million person march on DC to legalize marijuana, but then I got high.
- NinjaGod, on 05/03/2009, -4/+23I bet this gets more support than those stupid tea parties.
- angelschambers, on 05/03/2009, -2/+21The simple reason it's illegal is because the majority of people still think it kills brain cells, which is retarded. The other reasons it's illegal are too numerous to mention but most of them involve profits. Such as hemp production putting most defective companies and products out of business hurting the economy. Also, states make money from drug/Escalade seizures at auction. And another reason, is the (medical industrial complex) would lose millions of dollars. Yes, I went there and I stand by that statement.
- ranxerox76, on 05/03/2009, -4/+21It's kinda odd that weed isn't legal in the U.S. and Canada it is obviously what many people want. Isn't the government suppose to be representing the people and do our bidding in a sense. What percentage of the population has to be cool with it before it's legal? I really think the numbers are high enough. There really should be no debate by politians. Just do what we want. It's not like were trying to make murder legal....
- biotch, on 05/03/2009, -1/+14neo...
Your switching of crimes does nothing to negate his argument.
One is an action who's prohibition CREATES violence from none, yours is violence to begin with, and its prohibition REDUCES violence. - jacobcarroll, on 05/03/2009, -0/+12I went to the Marijuana Liberation march in Seattle today... smoked in the middle of Pine st. downtown and underwent surprisingly few beatings.
- Metavised, on 05/03/2009, -0/+12I had a Ham on rye, sliced dill pickle, some baby carrots w/dip, half an apple, and celery soda (friggin' delicious).
- Metavised, on 05/03/2009, -2/+13Actually, I enjoyed the morning go up and down the Arkansas river picking up trash with my little boy. Around 11:30 I joined with protesters at a few of the bridges and we both happily waved at traffic for 20 mins. Afterwards, we went home and he took a nap. We had a healthy lunch, then spent the rest of the afternoon at the zoo until it rained.
- CJ117, on 05/03/2009, -5/+16*Wishes he lived in Vancouver to participate in this march*
- Abatrour, on 05/03/2009, -1/+11Don't judge a book by its cover.
- Ezmo, on 05/03/2009, -5/+15WHY DIDN'T I HEAR ABOUT THIS THIS MORNING? Nooooooooooooooo.
Putting the "sob" in sober in Vancouver... - Metavised, on 05/03/2009, -2/+12Would you let the government ban apples, and arrest you for having them in a bowl on your kitchen table?
- lsloany, on 05/03/2009, -0/+10Please do some research or just look at some of the other posts here. Everything you said is a lie.
- Abatrour, on 05/03/2009, -0/+10You are correct. The government was created BY the people to SERVE the people.
The government is supposed to do whats in the best interest of the people. - johndi, on 05/03/2009, -2/+12That's the worst attempt I've ever seen at turning an argument on its ear. The reason murder is illegal is because if harms another person without consent. There are reasonable exceptions like you can't murder a person because they want to die as it is assumed no person in good mental health would want to die (some states even recognize that terminal illnesses can change that). Boxing and other competitions where people harm their oponent are legal because of consent. There is no valid reason for consensual crimes like marijuana use and prostitution to be a crime.
- geodebug, on 05/03/2009, -3/+12How about "Yes we Cannabis"?
- TwoKill, on 05/03/2009, -0/+9Now marijuana is still illegal, and I know why....
- ZeroOrDie, on 05/03/2009, -0/+9I was gonna get up and print some flyers, but then I got high.
- Kumah, on 05/03/2009, -1/+10I smoke weed. Yeah I said it. Can I stop being a criminal now?
- TheSkunkMonkey, on 05/03/2009, -0/+9"We're talking about a substance that has ALL the negative aspects of alcohol and tobacco combined."
Wow, that has to be the single stupidest thing I have ever heard coming from an anti-marijuana position.
Thousands of people a year die from alcohol and tobacco related issues. Can you point me to evidence that marijuana related deaths are even close or even that someone has died from marijuana? - inactive, on 05/03/2009, -0/+8Cops usually have the best stuff. I have been at parties with cops, and fire fighters getting high!
- Metavised, on 05/03/2009, -0/+8Oh no guys, he's onto us! Defuser is the the single white beam of valid assumptions!
*erupts into a cloud of dust like the fleeing people in "War of The Worlds"" - JanK1, on 05/03/2009, -0/+8yeah yeaaahh, because i got, because i got high, because i got hiiggghh.....
- Metavised, on 05/03/2009, -4/+12I doubt you'd check that setting even if it was offered. You wouldn't be able to resist trolling.
- GeneHoglan, on 05/03/2009, -7/+15Why are they doing that there and not here? Is it not already decriminalized in a lot of Canada?
The fact that tobacco is what this country was founded on aside, hemp can be made into everything. This should have been done a long long time ago. If Canada legalizes and the USA doesn't, I'm moving. - Metavised, on 05/03/2009, -1/+8It happened all across the states. I was even at one, and the police didn't mind.
At large smoke-outs (200+) police typically won't arrest people to avoid confrontation/riot, believe it or not. - diskit, on 05/03/2009, -2/+9The real shame is that some people let fear run their lives.
If it's something you truly believe in, you should do it without fear of consequence. - CivicTV, on 08/14/2009, -0/+7As much as this is true, you cannot deny that there is a stereotype of how cannabis users look or how they are perceived by the public.
- mrjit, on 05/03/2009, -1/+8Grandpa get out of my digg. This isn't a place for you grandpa, your old ways are useless to the future.
- evergrim, on 05/03/2009, -0/+7Hell, I am one of the small percentage of people who can't smoke weed because it makes me psychotic and hear voices in my head when I do. Wasn't always like that, for a while I was able to smoke it just fine, but last time I did I had full blown schizophrenic type symptoms. (am fine now that is has left my system)
Firstly, it sucks for me, but I realize I am in an unfortunate small percentage, that's life, not always fair.
Secondly, I STILL think marijuana should be legalized because most people can enjoy it without any problems. - mrjit, on 05/03/2009, -0/+7What did you eat for lunch?
- TheSkunkMonkey, on 05/03/2009, -1/+8Opium is NOT a plant. It is a substance manufactured from the poppy plant just as cocaine is manufactured from the coca plant.
Marijuana is used without ANY processing. You can grow poppy and coca plants all you want and it is not illegal to do so. - Noliaboy75, on 05/03/2009, -0/+7why 25? what possible significance does the age 25 have?
- Metavised, on 05/03/2009, -0/+7I'm going to defuse your hate and give you a big internet hug.
No, no, don't resist. Feels good man. - MrMontag, on 05/03/2009, -4/+11Tell us then NeoTechni, why is it illegal? Your input is valuable to all of us retarded potheads and liberal asshats who have nothing better to do with our lives that rally for a stupid cause.
- Metavised, on 05/03/2009, -1/+8I got a ride from my mummy, but when I got there I forgot what I was doing! I then walked into traffic in a haze, found the nearest sky-rise and jumped out of a plate glass window. Needless to say, when I hit the ground I contemplated the complexity of my Cheetos.
/spliff - Metavised, on 05/03/2009, -2/+8I had a nice conversation with a traffic cop. The day didn't end with me running from SWAT trucks or drug dogs.
- ShoujoKakumei, on 05/03/2009, -0/+6Organizers of the one where I live specifically included instructions in the information packets and emails to dress respectably, to engage onlookers only in a polite and intelligent manner, and not to show up with a joint in your mouth.
I wish more people would get the memo that they'd be taken more seriously if they took themselves a little more seriously. - Gev1982, on 05/03/2009, -0/+5@defuser
Why do you think that you are wise enough to make decisions for me?
I don't have a problem with you doing what you want within the confines of your home as long as it doesn't hurt anyone else. In this case, however, you should probably stop spewing your ignorance, as it may cause someone who is less informed than you (however unlikely that may be) to form opinions based on lies. Just as you see a person as being idiotic for smoking a plant, I view you as another vapid husk; a babbling vacant skull. Get your facts straight. - dazparkour, on 05/03/2009, -0/+5Decriminalized is not Legalized.
- ConcernedCanuck, on 05/03/2009, -16/+21Hell yes!
Go Canada!
