- chewood, on 07/04/2008, -55/+179Bush is the worst President in the history of our country. It is proper that on the 4th of July he be told to his face the fact that he is a war criminal and that he should have been impeached.
- inactive, on 07/05/2008, -22/+85Free Speech does not mean you can disrupt gatherings by yelling. If protesters get into the Democrat Convention and do the same thing they will be removed as well.
- Thrilltone, on 07/05/2008, -30/+80With the way Bush and Cheney usually speak only to hand picked audiences, I guess you have to take your opportunities on the rare occasions that they arise.
I wish 100,000 people would drown out that phony, lying scumbag, every time he opens his liehole.
Maybe the reason he gets away with all this hideous ***** and Congress is afraid to defy him, is that too few people participate in a protest of any kind? - luke374, on 07/05/2008, -16/+60I hate that people can't make this distinction. The organizers of an event have every right to remove people who are being disruptive to what people came to see. This is not the same as the police arresting somebody on public property for protesting.
- SullyRN, on 07/05/2008, -21/+60They didn't interrupt just Bush they interrupted a naturalization ceremony for new citizens. There is a time and place for everything. I hope these new citizens understand that some Americans are Idiots.
- TheFinaleofSeem, on 07/05/2008, -12/+48There were no arrests, you moron. Read the article. Six people were removed for disrupting the speech as they should have been, but no charges were pressed. Bush is an idiot, but these guys are *****. Hold your signs and all that, but don't be a dick. And the lady who was removed rushed up to the front. That's going to make the security VERY antsy and will get you kicked out regardless of the president speaking. Pull your head out of your ass.
- azAZ09, on 07/04/2008, -68/+101You can here bush during the disruption state "to my fellow citizens [to be]... we believe in free speech in the United States of America"
At the same time a free-speaking, patriotic American expressing her views is being arrested.
"Bushie says" --never equals-- "Bushie does". - ChristPissed, on 07/04/2008, -42/+75I'm surprised the monkey didn't fling poo back at the crowd.
- inactive, on 07/05/2008, -35/+68Has it really been 8 years?
Jesus, what a ***** mess this country has become. - 0260, on 07/05/2008, -28/+61i'm not a big fan of Bush but these protesters are annoying as *****
- unusualbob, on 07/05/2008, -3/+35Thomas jefferson once said he would rather celebrate the 4th of july than his own birthday.
Benjamin Franklin once said "the man who trades freedom for security does not deserve nor will he ever receive either" - schrutefan, on 07/05/2008, -19/+44If Thomas Jefferson were alive, he'd have Bush arrested.
- unusualbob, on 07/05/2008, -4/+27"They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."
-Benjamin Franklin - inactive, on 07/05/2008, -46/+65Any time Bush or the rest of the war criminals appear in public they should be shouted down. If our justice system won't punish these men, it's up to us.
I favor eggs and tomatoes, but Code Pink's words are a good start. - oqm4, on 07/05/2008, -7/+28It's f-ing "hear" you illiterate a-hole.
- lead2thehead, on 07/05/2008, -42/+64What a bunch of attention whores. Making asses of themselves is the only way Code Pink can get people to pay attention to them.
- HotSaucePanCake, on 07/05/2008, -29/+48Code Pink is Code for It's That Time of the Month All Day Every Day
- inactive, on 07/05/2008, -8/+26If Jefferson were alive, then he'd probably have Bush and most of Congress including the Supreme Court thrown in jail...as well as some ex-presidents we know.
Ooooo...that's right. Most Democrats in Congress would be in jail too. Sorry. That's just the way it is. - HiCaP, on 07/05/2008, -11/+29did ya RTA *****,
"six protesters were asked to leave the ceremony," but none were arrested"
did ya hear the crowd, "shut up and sit down" - HotSaucePanCake, on 07/05/2008, -32/+51I'm glad the people that preach for tolerance have become so intolerant...
So very disrespectful - NOFXY, on 07/05/2008, -7/+26defending bush? wow! felt like committing digg suicide today?
- TheFinaleofSeem, on 07/05/2008, -10/+25Yeah, a service to the audience by yelling when there were people there who WANTED TO HEAR THE PRESIDENT SPEAK. You don't have to agree with their reasons for being there, but the next time you go to hear a political figure you like speak, I'm sure you'll excuse some ***** from the opposition shouting him down. Yep, it's patriotism as long as it agrees with you! It doesn't matter if they're being dicks because they agree with your stance, and this is Digg, so hypocritical "My opinion is FACT!" mentality is excused as long as it agrees with most other folks! Idiot.
- Bob24, on 07/05/2008, -6/+21He mentions this while 4+ officers drag this woman away for exercising that free speech.
Code Pink or not, annoying or not, idiots or not, these events are the only opportunities anyone ever gets to speak truth to power. So don't give me this ***** that "there's a time and a place" for speaking out.
Because apart from these events, in order to garner attention, there quite simply isn't. - TheKarmaPolice, on 07/05/2008, -6/+19that video just showed the code pink people, but there were more protesters than that as there should be).
i'm a virginian, and i have gotten several emails from the DNC saying that i could show up and protest. i didn't but i'm grateful for those who did so in a non-annoying and pink way. good for them for exercising free speech -- something thomas jefferson encouraged. - sassip, on 07/05/2008, -19/+32All you, "let's not yell at Bush because it makes us look bad," folks are a bunch of pussies. Bush was embarrassed by the protests, it made him look bad, it made him uncomfortable, if that's all it gets, it was worth it. I may not do it, but I'm glad she had the guts to at least attempt to unearth a traitor and a dumbass. The people were there to become citizens. They walked away with that. EEMMMMMMMBUUUUUUSSSSHHHHED!
- TheFinaleofSeem, on 07/05/2008, -21/+35Yeah, let's make Bush look bad (as if he could look any worse) by making total asses of ourselves! Way to go, guys. You really made Bush's opposition look like logical and reasonable. You just gave him and his cronies more ammo. Nice job, *****.
- sonnybobiche, on 07/05/2008, -28/+42Code Pink is shameless.
- siszam, on 07/05/2008, -10/+23You think I'm crazy for not wanting my son killed? The people with a screw loose are the parents who happily send thier children into harms way and worship their killer who also happens to run their country. Any decent parent would fight to stop war.
- DuffyDirect, on 07/05/2008, -8/+20In all honestly Bush seems like a nice guy, and probably fun to hang out with and have a beer with... I don't even particularly mind his praise Jesus stuff, either. Despite what people say in hindsight, also, he was quite the leader after 9/11 when the firemen were shouting USA at the rubble. He truly seemed to want to make it their moment in history and not his.
Anyways, though, I can say that (at least in university doctoral circles) the anti-Bush stuff is really more fashion than it is substance. As a grad student who has mastered the art of BS and not much else, I can assure you that having a PhD and reading books that have their agendas spelled out in the first 5 pages doesn't certify you for much of anything other than the fact that you're willing to sit around and listen to some boring ass people talk about whatever they feel like for 3 hours a week, so I don't think anyone but the so-called Washington insiders really have enough data to make a judgment one way or the other. - inactive, on 07/05/2008, -9/+23Especially since there is absolutely no doubt that carter is the worse President in history.
- YukosEyes, on 07/05/2008, -4/+15They've got the guts to actually behave like patriots, and people throughout this forum have been calling them "*****" and "bitches." People are making a war at home; just what this administration would want.
- blacktriangle, on 07/05/2008, -16/+27What's with all of the Bush supporters? I thought you guys were too brain dead to figure of how to use a computer.
- nedzeve, on 07/05/2008, -1/+12That's actually a GREAT time to hold such a demonstration. It shows them what our country is all about. Our country was FOUNDED by a bunch of loudmouth malcontents. You going to tell me the Boston Tea Party was inappropriate and unpatriotic?
- superkendall, on 07/05/2008, -13/+25Freedom of speech does not necessarily grant you the inalienable right to interrupt someone elses.
- DuffyDirect, on 07/05/2008, -9/+19Crazy anti-war spinstresses existed in Caesar's days too, apparently. Back then they raped them and threw them in the river, though :-
- sodoh, on 07/05/2008, -2/+12Shame on her for not being in the "Free Speech Zone". Democratic one is normally a caged in area far away from the entrance to the event. The republican one they just round everyone up off the street and detain them for a day.
I thought it was a good thing. Bush has been leading such a sheltered life he still believes Americans love him. Seriously. Although this small protest will probably not have a huge dent on his ego. Intresting though that 3 years ago this woman probably would of never gotten within 3 blocks of the event. Gets easier with only 25% of the country agreeing with him. - cambrown99, on 07/05/2008, -2/+12"Freedom of speech does not necessarily grant you the inalienable right to interrupt someone elses."
Someone needs to let Bill O'Reilly know. - sassip, on 07/05/2008, -4/+14Oh, so there's a time and a place set aside for Bush to hear opposing points of view from ordinary citizens? I must have missed the memo.
- valour, on 07/05/2008, -4/+14Franklin Pierce (a relative of GW Bush, believe it or not) was probably worse. Ulysses Grant was probably worse, too. Andrew Johnson was probably worse. Even Jimmy Carter was probably worse, all things considered. We've had a lot of bad leaders in America. The only really great thing about this country is that we aren't stuck with really bad leaders for very long.
- zaptoman, on 07/05/2008, -21/+31Honestly? Give it a rest for ONE day people. Go have a hotdog and watch some fireworks with your kids.
- diggdallas, on 07/05/2008, -3/+12If Jefferson were alive, he'd probably be too immersed in learning about all the technological advances we've made in the past 200 years to be bothered with the current political climate. He would have no idea what a "Republican" was.
- inactive, on 07/05/2008, -20/+30Well now, isnt this interesting? If President Bish was a Facist Dictator (oddly, libs never say communist) she would have been shot or thrown in a gulag.
So where is your facist make believe dictator now? - SaladCactusKing, on 07/05/2008, -1/+10kc8ukw killed them personally. In the study with a candlestick.
- inactive, on 07/05/2008, -3/+12That's what he's talking about.
Code pinko needs to shut up and go home. - quez, on 07/05/2008, -7/+15I suppose you have examples of dissidents being tortured that you're willing to share with us?
I'm by no means a fan of the Bush administration, but hyperbolic speech like that is counterproductive. - digitalhair, on 07/05/2008, -16/+24seeing that rawstory is apparently one of the few sources willing to run a story that has people shouting "war criminal" over Bush's empty rhetoric about liberty, I'd say their "inappropriate" behavior at the high profile event was well placed - given the lack of a national alternative and practical means to establish consensus among observers.
now, go powder your whig a little more... it's about as effective toward preserving the constitution as your worthless appreciation for the rules of etiquette. -
