- ironeus, on 08/02/2008, -5/+105& I don't care to see any of the 3 in a bikini -- that's what they share in common.
- theadvinci, on 08/02/2008, -8/+102Britney isn't that thin in real life.
- inactive, on 08/03/2008, -4/+62Let's get back to politics please......
- JingleHymrShmit, on 08/03/2008, -0/+41leave Britney alone!!!!
because I'm tired of hearing about her - lukerat88, on 08/03/2008, -3/+43i remember when britney said that, i lol'd.
surprisingly, many americans seemed to agreed with her back then, not just mccain - Coven, on 08/03/2008, -7/+40Britney and McCain both had 2 marriages as well.
- insomnislacker, on 08/03/2008, -0/+33"Then who's VICE-President? Jerry Lewis?"
- Dr. Emmett Brown - lsumed, on 08/03/2008, -1/+29Wasn't Ronald Regan an actor?
- bigmrpig, on 08/03/2008, -1/+21It depends on if you hold your presidential candidates to higher standard than you hold your cartoonists.
- inactive, on 08/03/2008, -1/+16It would only be hypocritical if this was a real Obama ad, but this looks more like a cartoon to me.
- stevenk87, on 08/03/2008, -1/+16Lulz...this is AMERICA! Political campaigns are never about the issues!
- bjornski, on 08/03/2008, -1/+15He played second fiddle to a chimpanzee, yes.
- charm803, on 08/03/2008, -2/+15One is satire.
The other was an actual McCain ad. - ZenMojo, on 08/03/2008, -3/+15I dunno, I thought fat Britney was pretty hot.
- niradg, on 08/03/2008, -10/+22I think McCain is more like Paris- both of them have vast amounts of money that they inherited and did not earn.
- ZenMojo, on 08/03/2008, -1/+13You FAIL...history class.
- tm13lke, on 08/03/2008, -1/+13You're on digg.
- Chrissy990, on 08/03/2008, -1/+12The comic is funny, but we probably shouldn't be seriously comparing any politicians to Britney Spears the way McCain's team did with Obama. Comics like this is where the comparisons should stay. They do not need to be in serious political campaigns. I like to believe that anyone who managed to get this far in the election is more intelligent and knowledgeable than Britney even if I disagree with the person.
- hierophantus, on 08/03/2008, -1/+10I'm getting pretty tired of the mindless charges of hypocrisy. I'm starting to think the average digg user isn't any better at recognizing hypocrisy than irony.
Look, the point of this cartoon is that McCain's comparison between Obama and Britney is as superficial as it gets: they're both "celebrities" (whatever significance that's supposed to have). Meanwhile, if you compare them on the substance of their views, McCain is the one with the similarity to Britney and her empty-headed jingoism. This contrast between surface and substance comparison is what makes this a legitimate critique of McCain's original cheapshot, not hypocrisy.
That and the minor point that Obama is not the cartoonist, as others pointed out above. Although I guess all people who support Obama or criticize McCain are an indistinguishable mass known as "libruls." - izikdela, on 08/03/2008, -1/+10L'd O L ?
- inactive, on 08/03/2008, -1/+10Eight years of Republican leadership will do that to a society.
- Ugoff, on 08/03/2008, -1/+9McCain/Spears 08', God forbid McCain dies in office :(
- hierophantus, on 08/03/2008, -5/+13It's a joke. You, sir, are quite the moron yourself.
- ZenMojo, on 08/03/2008, -1/+8But he was a crappy actor, so it doesn't really count.
- inactive, on 08/03/2008, -0/+7Oh yeah... that would really make the next 4 horrible years all worth while. :(
- richbleak, on 08/03/2008, -1/+8Ridiculous point, and enough with the signing of the posts. Your username is right there in plain view. If someone loses track of who is posting in the space between your username and the end of your post, they don't care enough to remember or have some kind of genetic brain disorder.
- stretch611, on 08/03/2008, -0/+6Thats known as "Republican Family Values..."
- malex, on 08/03/2008, -0/+6Listen: If you don't want to support either major candidate, then by all means vote third party. But Jesus Christ on a Pogo Stick can we please drop the "BOTH OF THEM ARE TEH SAME" nonsense?
At the very least, I don't see Obama's campaign running anything as petty, desperate and plain dumb as the Britney/Paris ad. - tHeSiD, on 08/03/2008, -0/+5is there any where to filter my rss feed so that i can make the words obama and mccain blacklisted ???
i wanna decrease my rss load by atleast 50% - malex, on 08/03/2008, -2/+7Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!
- malex, on 08/03/2008, -2/+7The quote is accurate. I remember thinking she was a mouthbreathing idiot back then too.
- warsongs7, on 08/03/2008, -1/+5This is politics. [read: modern]
- statuescrumble, on 08/03/2008, -11/+15Thats hardly "proof" of anything
- GiggleStick, on 08/03/2008, -0/+4Hi Vich:
I can help you with your dilemma. Since your from Down Unda', I'll type slowly:
Fix number one: While logged in go to the following link
http://digg.com/settings/topics
Then uncheck the topics you are not interested in seeing. They will automagically disappear. This story was in the "US Elections 2008" topic, so I would start by unchecking that. After that, email Digg and ask them to add an Australian Politics section. If enough of you do, they'll surely add it.
Fix number two: Start a digg clone in Australia, get it to be as popular as digg, and just read that. Since it's in Australia, and Australian, you will see more Australian Politics articles. If however, it becomes inundated with Americans because of its extreme awesomeness, then it will once again become littered with American-centric stories. You could try banning Americans to fix this, though.
Fix number three: Get all the people in Australia to get on digg. That should be just enough to dominate the digging and make sure that only stories about Australia show up in the top stories. You may have to force some of your aboriginal peoples to carry computers around with them in the outback. Perhaps you can get some of those OLPC laptops for this purpose. Submit a grant proposal to your government, I'm sure they'll see the worth in it.
G'day! - inactive, on 08/03/2008, -3/+7I dunno...I think McCain might look pretty damn good
- itsinmyeyes, on 08/03/2008, -0/+4You should have said that to McCain when he ran that ad.
- Galaxylander, on 08/03/2008, -0/+4Anorexic people aren't that thin IRL.
- inactive, on 08/03/2008, -0/+4People are paying attention to the fact that Obama isn't a Republican.
- hierophantus, on 08/03/2008, -0/+3"They'll do it just to be trendy." And you accuse Obama voters of lazy thinking. I don't know a single person who thinks that way, and I've met a ton of fellow Obama supporters from all walks of life.
Meanwhile, there will be at least as many voters who pick McCain because he was a veteran, so therefore he'll "win" the War on Terror, etc., whereas Obama wants to "lose" the war and sell everyone out to a socialist state led by the Antichrist. - inactive, on 08/03/2008, -1/+4No. If you're voting for someone because there's an "R" next to their name you're part of the problem.
- AngelaQ, on 08/03/2008, -8/+11Hypocritical to respond in kind but with humor when a hypocritical politician takes cheap shots at your candidate? No.
- NathanielJ, on 08/03/2008, -3/+6"It's not hypocritical if they did it first!!!"
- DavidGX, on 08/03/2008, -1/+4Hopefully he dies before then.
- jamesalfaro, on 08/03/2008, -2/+5Proof that McCain is More Like Britney Than Obama :)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PPEV6twzxmE - n00ptic, on 08/03/2008, -1/+4If by pass you mean "it never happened." Then yes, I suppose he does get a pass for it.
- lepton, on 08/03/2008, -0/+3This YouTube video shows Britney saying the quote, and then McCain saying pretty much the same thing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PPEV6twzxmE
- adrenalmedulla9, on 08/03/2008, -0/+3Meh.
- Iztikeit, on 08/03/2008, -0/+2Obama has more support than MLKJ, which astounds me.
McCain gets nitpicked for being an old man and slipping up, which gets a chuckle out of me.
Obama and McCain supporters are taking this campaign straight to Hell, which is exactly what they claimed wouldn't happen.
Anyone comparing McCain or Obama to Spears is most likely a moron.
Don't be surprised, we live in a time where Colbert and J. Stewart are considered political analysts! - lsumed, on 08/03/2008, -0/+2That's what I get for letting Kevin Bryant write my comment.
- Iztikeit, on 08/03/2008, -0/+2The easiest solution is to forgo television, internet and newspapers.
Sounds like a tall order but you're guaranteed to be happier. -
