FTA:
"As one reporter observed after the briefing, "Did you notice all the questions about taxes came from reporters making over $250,000 a year, especially the TV guys?"" - nihilville, on 02/27/2009, -8/+112This is the year that the mainstream media's conservative sympathies will be laid bare for all American's to see.
- Firstdaughter, on 02/27/2009, -4/+88These two links tell it all... In just a little over a month, President Obama's record for campaign promises kept is higher than Bush's record after eight years...

http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?story ... - Insightful, on 02/27/2009, -8/+86Unbelievable, a President that is true to his words and a Vice President that is not actively taking a crap on Constitution.
I am in tears.
Of joy.
P.S. - don't get me wrong, Obama is wrong on the Patriot and TelCo immunity. I will press for change and if there is a better candidate that comes along in 2012, I will vote for that better candidate but one month in, I am proud of my President. - homercles337, on 02/27/2009, -5/+78More proof that the Corporate Media has only neocon agendas on its mind.
- woodsjransom, on 02/27/2009, -4/+60Oh Joshua you have done it now. This submission will have the Digg site lit up all weekend. I will have to come back to read the posts later on this evening.
- pickleprince, on 02/27/2009, -5/+61Those claiming class warfare should realize that the nature of capitalism is inherently weighted against the guy with less capital. (Read: 95% of America)
- MangalaIII, on 02/28/2009, -2/+53Can someone remind me why we need rich people to tell us our news?
If it weren't for the internet we'd be in shanty towns praising President Palin. - inactive, on 02/27/2009, -2/+42Boehners "rebuttal" was strikingly obvious. He claimed this plan was "going to raise YOUR taxes". What he MEANT to say was "it is going to raise MY taxes. The large majority of you will get a tax break, but not ME".
- freedomjoe, on 02/28/2009, -1/+39I am sadly reminded that people are already referring to Afghanistan as "Obama's Vietnam". Obama didn't start this war. Why is it so hard for people to grasp that the Taliban were allowed to flourish there....what do they want him to do? Just leave?
Obama voted against starting this war -- precisely because anyone who was paying attention KNEW we didn't have a rat's chance of "winning" this thing -- it was bad strategy on top of illegally started.
Now we're there. it's ***** up.
anyway, I notice the media still thinks this is a "center right" country...they;'re a little behind the times. thank god for the internet.
Oh, and I love the meme that Bush was a liberal! HaHa. Talk about not wanting to own your mistakes. - publiclurker, on 02/27/2009, -2/+36You forgot that he's a black Muslim who's flag pin hates America, od did you leave that page of your script in your sheet?
- normlsparky, on 02/28/2009, -2/+35It is astoundingly ignorant to claim that returning to Clinton era tax levels is equal to instituting socialism. I guess that, if that's all you've got, you have to go with it.
As for the redistribution of wealth, the current tax system has already accomplished that. The majority of the wealth in this country has already been redistributed to the wealthy. The same thing happened under Reagan and H.W. Bush. Trickle down economic policy seems to have that effect. - jhbarr, on 02/27/2009, -4/+37Seems like the people are happy that he keeps his word.
http://www.gallup.com/poll/116224/Obama-Approval-R ... - susan56, on 02/28/2009, -2/+33I have often wondered where that strange pervasive 'liberal media' were - now I know, they didn't exist. The Cons were trying to con the people and did rather a good job, concerning the rabid left-wing press. What utter liars repubs are. But I am rather worried that the American people are going to be 'suckered' again. Americas media is doing a 'full court' anti Obama press. Even the BBC has jumped on the bandwagon. Watch out for 2010 - the republicans just might get back in.....and that's a scary thought I go to sleep with every night.
- Maddoktor2, on 02/28/2009, -5/+36So much for "liberal" media...
- Firstdaughter, on 02/27/2009, -2/+33Good point Insightful. I don't agree with all of President Obama's policies, but I have an immense amount of respect for him nonetheless.
- AxmxZ, on 02/28/2009, -0/+29Campaign promises as actual plans for action?.. Whoa, radical!..
According to www.politifact.com Obama is just blazing through them. At this rate he'll run out of promises to keep in three years' time. - shupy, on 02/28/2009, -4/+30It is very telling that these Republicans think that most people in this country think a tax increase is the scariest thing they have to face?
Most people are a little more worried about things like loss of jobs, no healthcare, losing their home, the collapse of their 401K you know little stuff.
But ohhhh, if your taxes go up, that's really scary stuff.
What pinheads. - novenator, on 02/28/2009, -0/+22I digg fivethirtyeight.com, but they really have to truncate their comments section. That said, this article is great insight, as always.
- shupy, on 02/28/2009, -0/+22I'm sure he will, unfortunately part of Bush's screw up was to let the Taliban remain in Afghanistan where they continue to grow in strength. That has to be cleared up.
- homercles337, on 02/28/2009, -4/+25The LIE of the "liberal media" will go down in history as the greatest lie ever told.
- lutafin, on 02/28/2009, -2/+21250k a year is not a lot? Where the hell are you living?
Dude, what the hell are you talking about. Obama is passing bailouts to BOOST the economy. Bush passed a bailout make the rich richer. - shupy, on 02/28/2009, -0/+19InRussetShadows and his ilk are astounding. Claiming to be spiritual while repeating the same old nasty vitriol.
Emperical truth? You are in no position to discuss the concept of a truth outside of yourself and I doubt you would be capable of accepting empirical truth, especially if it conflicts with your Christian dogma.
Although you do exhibit the blind self-deluding self-righteousness that only a true religious zealot can embrace. You are in no position to lecture anyone about dwelling in reality. - JenniferInMO, on 02/28/2009, -6/+23It surprises me that you don't see that considering the fact that you obviously listen to right wing radio and Faux News.
- bsmang, on 02/28/2009, -2/+19At least you tried to cover your ass by implying that your faith counts as something like empirical truth. Too bad that that and the rest of your opinion are so painfully far from it.
- theliberalleft, on 02/28/2009, -2/+18wut
- JenniferInMO, on 02/28/2009, -5/+20I don't know that "fiscal conservative" oxymoron is a big one too.
- JenniferInMO, on 02/28/2009, -1/+16To me, taking a crap on the Constitution is the past 8 years (added to the big crap since the beginning of the "War on Drugs).
Our President is starting to clean up the mess. He isn't moving as quickly as I'd like with respect to ending the war and he may not have the political capital required to end all of the abuses. But he is making progress and for that, I am relieved.
Further pushing is needed. I intend to continue to speak out and work hard to elect representatives to DC in 2010 who will respect our Constitution and vote to restore our civil liberties. - jayjayjoni, on 02/28/2009, -2/+16There is no such thing as a "liberal" media. The media has been trying to destroy this presidency from day one. Look at the campaign, it was all pro-McCain and pro-Clinton during the primaries.
- inactive, on 02/28/2009, -1/+14damn nick, sounds like you make over 250 too. good on you, now quit your bitchin
- DeskFlyer, on 02/28/2009, -0/+13"the conservative answers with empirical truth or at least faith in something with some justification to believe"
Like the man in the sky....
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/2921345.stm - inactive, on 02/28/2009, -1/+13It's kind of necessary to clean up the mess that Bush left.
- normlsparky, on 02/28/2009, -2/+14I can just imagine the howls from the right if Obama changed those policies right now. They would claim Obama doesn't care about national security.
I don't like his position on those subjects myself, but it shows that he is leading from a position that is closer to center than far left. - homercles337, on 02/28/2009, -3/+13Seems like people are very happy. Now if he would just break up the oligarchy of the banks--break their ***** backs!
- freedomjoe, on 02/28/2009, -0/+10I figured that historical reference was what you meant. What I didn't articulate that in my response was that what disturbs me is the idea is picked up by people who don't understand the reference, using it to mean he owns this. These are the same people who now have the temerity to call Iraq his war.
I hear what you're saying, and believe me, I was not for the war in the first place -- quite the opposite. However, I have to wonder what I don't know, because a lot of people whom I respect and who have been there talk about how Afghanistan is where we need to be and indeed, should have been for a while. It's quite difficult to feel confident in a position when one is aware that they can't possibly have all of the info necessary. I have spent some time with several members of Iraq Vets Against the War, as well as doing other research on the war. I also recognize that since I am not privvy to the security briefings, I don't have the info the people making the decisions do.
When 43 went in, it was a huge mistake. Denial, etc is not a strategy. And now, here we are.
Thanks for the informative response, and I apologize for seeming to reference your comment re "Obama's Viet Nam" without explaining fully what I was disturbed by. - JenniferInMO, on 02/28/2009, -2/+12And the military industrial complex and the health insurance and pharmaceutical industry ... but I guess that kinda stuff will take more than a month.
- scottk59, on 02/28/2009, -0/+9And you spread stupidity around, just like your name promises.
- thinkharderest, on 02/28/2009, -0/+9Taxing the poor only works if they have jobs. Companies out there keep cutting jobs to keep their profits. The company I work for laid off lots of people who are now out of work and cut everyone else's hours back to 32 a week. Most of us can barely afford to pay our bills let alone go out and spend money and build up the economy. I know I cant afford to pay more taxes, not that a few dollars would help. Time to step up to the plate corporate America! We can do this!
- Valyn, on 02/28/2009, -0/+9"As one reporter observed after the briefing, "Did you notice all the questions about taxes came from reporters making over $250,000 a year, especially the TV guys?""
Best quote there. Sounds like it came from a newspaper reporter. - anthropodeus, on 02/28/2009, -1/+10well, to be fiscally conservative would be to manage your money well and not go into debt. and according to that definition, pre-2000 democrats were fiscally conservative

- novenator, on 02/28/2009, -0/+6@boobs, Tax cuts for the rich have failed. Its time for a new direction:
http://digg.com/politics/Obama_s_Budget_Plan_Undoe ... - JenniferInMO, on 02/28/2009, -1/+8@DasPainkiller: It is not a red herring. You are naive if you think anyone could stop the perpetual state of war that the neocons set into action. The military industrial complex is more profitable and powerful than it ever has been and it cannot be stopped immediately. We just spent the past 30 years transferring power to the hawks, corporate contractors, the Pentagon and the intelligence community.
I point out the past to draw a direct distinction.
I never said I support every decision made by our President since he became President or while he was Senator. There are policies and decisions I strongly disagree with. Progressives can do that.
It is the right wing, in particular the Paul supporters who think that someone must agree with everything our President says and does to support him. I support our President and most of his agenda, but I will and do voice my objections where I disagree.
@RonPauls: with all due respect, Paul is an economic idealogue and Ayn Rand was an asocial narcissist. Paul, and the Libertarians and I have some areas where we fundamentally agree, but the point where we part ways is just about anything pertaining to the Austrians and their bizarre view of economic utopia. They are extreme ideologues in that respect and I disagree wholeheartedly with the basic tenets.
I also disagree with the Libertarians' ideological view of the Constitution and the concept of "Liberty." I believe far more in the responsibility we have to our communities and our society in general than they do.
I do; however, stand next to my Libertarian brothers and sisters in fighting against the military industrial complex and will not stop until our military is converted into a reasonable and efficient "defense" force. That means closing down almost all of the overseas bases and stopping all wars. - normlsparky, on 02/28/2009, -0/+7So, you guys are all for long term ***** of the majority of citizens in this country so that the richest 1 or 2 percent can continue to prosper? In a consumer based economy, how could that possibly work in the long term?
- novenator, on 02/28/2009, -0/+6RonPauls, those are all liberal stances as well. When we find commonalities, we have to work together to get things done. For instance, legalizing cannabis. It will take BOTH our camps to fight hard for this against the GOP obstructionists.
- Homerr, on 02/28/2009, -0/+7Obama is all about integrity, he does what he says.
- novenator, on 02/28/2009, -1/+7'fiscal conservative' will be remembered as 'borrow and spend' for generations to come.

Go back to looking for boobs to play with. You obviously don't have political acumen.
