- Americanwhiner, on 05/26/2009, -2/+12I hope that the GOP will not attempt to delay or detract from this sterling nominee as Justice on the Supreme Court. Her credentials are impeccable, and that she is a woman and a minority, only adds to her suitability as a fitting nominee.
- NoDrama, on 05/27/2009, -2/+9Nobody Obama nominated was going to have smooth sailing through the confirmation process, and the O'Reilly~Limbaugh~Gingrich refrain is going to stir the pot. Ms. Sotomayor has faced tougher challenges already, and so aside from singing to the (shrinking) choir the only real effect will be to focus the attention of normal, moderate, middle-America on how increasingly shrill the voices of the GOP are sounding.
- omoffice, on 05/27/2009, -2/+8I can't wait for Fox News and Rush Limbaugh to make fools of themselves bashing President Obama's nominee for Justice of the Supreme Court so I can laugh my ass off watching The Daily Show and The Colbert Report making fun of them.
- looking4aparty, on 05/26/2009, -2/+8A great choice.
FWIW, I am very critical of the President for not showing the same tough love to the banks, that he has shown to Detroit. I also am critical of POTUS for not withdrawing all our troops from the Middle East and for failing to prosecute torture. - kapriforce, on 05/26/2009, -2/+8Political genius!wj
- Bebesarah, on 05/26/2009, -2/+8I am very pleased by this outstanding nomination. And I really like the President's video messaging that comes to my inbox.
- johngamble, on 05/26/2009, -2/+7What a brilliant pick-beside her exemplary qualifications, she is a trojan horse upon which the GOP will be hoisted by it's own petard...apologies for the ugly mixed metaphor...
- freeyourtime, on 05/27/2009, -2/+7I am thankful and excited that President Obama has assumed the role of Educator in Chief with seriousness and an unflinching cool that makes me want to pay attention to what is going on in Washington. A great move for democracy.
- WILDKati, on 05/27/2009, -2/+7You Go Sonia! Go Obama! Yes You Are! Changing US Supreme Court to reflect America.
- novenator, on 05/27/2009, -2/+6The smear campaign is already being hatched in a dark, smoky room somewhere or in some conservative think tank. Get to know Sotomayor so you can tell the truth to counter their lies.
- novenator, on 05/27/2009, -2/+5From humble roots to great heights, both Obama and his nominee are very well suited for their jobs.
- JoeMondo, on 05/27/2009, -2/+5Well done, Mr. President.
Beyond selecting a well qualified candidate who broadens the perspectives on the bench, you've set up the Republicans to further alienate women and Hispanics with their purely partisan antics. - DragonDefenseS, on 05/27/2009, -2/+5Contratulations Sonia! You go girl! Obama, great job!
- KSUdesigner, on 05/27/2009, -1/+3The local newspaper where I live (a rural county in Ohio) posted a poll on their website today about Obama's choice:

It's disgusting how ignorant, racist and hypocritical the people are who live near me. - joycelynn, on 05/27/2009, -2/+4I am pleased with this choice for Supreme Court nominee. Nice to see someone who is not a rich old white man. Diversity is very important. Always has been, but especially in the 21st century.
- Debmood, on 07/13/2009, -0/+1I'm looking forward to Judge Sotomayor being seated as a Supreme Court Justice. The Republican Senators have already made fools of themselves going after her on foolishness this morning. With a Democratic Congress, there is no reason for her not to be seated.
- DD2CC2U, on 05/28/2009, -0/+1O'Reilly~Limbaugh~Gingrich refrain you left out Cheney and Rove
- timjblair, on 07/10/2009, -0/+0she is graeat
- elite950, on 05/29/2009, -1/+0after 43 presidents it took the 44th ( a black man) to get it right on all fronts, he has a conscious. What were people afraid of?
- DSHLB, on 05/27/2009, -9/+1Judge Sotomayor is definitely qualified but I am disappointed that Obama keeps picking Northeast graduates (Wharton, Columbia, Princeton, Harvard) or wealthy folks from the Northeast for his cabinet, supreme court, CDC, etc. Is he really following his "diversity" plan? Oh - I guess he limits diversity to gender and ethnicity. I voted for Obama and, for the most part, I am pleased with what he has accomplished since January. But, I find him a little elitist at times.
