- aslave2thegrind, on 10/10/2007, -15/+125The generational evils of the Bush clan boggle the mind yet again...
- worldinmyeyes, on 10/10/2007, -2/+64"The coup was aimed at toppling President Franklin D Roosevelt with the help of half-a-million war veterans. The plotters, who were alleged to involve some of the most famous families in America, (owners of Heinz, Birds Eye, Goodtea, Maxwell Hse & George Bush’s Grandfather, Prescott) believed that their country should adopt the policies of Hitler and Mussolini to beat the great depression."
Let that sink in....overthrow a sitting U.S. President, and adopt the policies of Hitler and Mussolini IN AMERICA.
Nope, there are no conspiracies, ever. At least that's what the bury brigade tells me. - seks03, on 10/10/2007, -14/+63apexim: dude, STFU! I love Ron Paul and spread the word about him when ever I can... you however are posting your freaking one liner on every political story. Do Ron Paul a favor and stop posting his name.
- ReturnToFreedom, on 10/10/2007, -3/+47The elite of this country are constantly looking for ways to control us.
It's crazy to think about but the really rich bankers pulling the levers that run this country really do sit around thinking up ways to control and watch us. We aren't free. We found out today from Alberto Gonzales that there are other domestic spying programs, which many people suspected. The government has the right to demand any business or library to turn over copies of its database and made it illegal for them to tell anybody that it happened.
This isn't freedom. We are slowly becoming fascist but like a boiling frog we sit idly by, twitching at the slow increase in temperature. If you really want to do something about it, do what I do and either donate to the people who are paying lobbyists to go after Bush (moveOn.org for example), seek a meeting with or write to your representative, or don't complain here on Digg or anywhere else because YOU are part of the problem. - worldinmyeyes, on 10/10/2007, -5/+44"The Guardian has obtained confirmation from newly discovered files in the US National Archives that a firm of which Prescott Bush was a director was involved with the financial architects of Nazism."
http://www.guardian.co.uk/usa/story/0,12271,1312540,00.html
Is that main stream enough for the doubters?
George W Bush is attempting to do what his Grandfather Prescott (Skull & Bones, 1917) originally wanted - bring the USA and the world under the New World Order - a 4th Reich. Dismiss it, scoff at it, bury your head in the sand - but there is enough evidence that this Bush family is not what they portray. - Ajajadude, on 10/10/2007, -10/+35Well, the sins (and crimes) of the (grand)father can't be put on the son, no matter how much of a bumbling prick Bush is.
Sadly, all this really means is his family is nothing more than un-American douche bags who never should have been entrusted with the leadership of this country to begin with. - airwalkery2k, on 10/10/2007, -10/+33And I am related to the President through this guy. Great great uncle... Well, once removed.
It's an evil family, no doubt. If we were any closer in lineage, I'd probably be casting voodoo spells on you by now. - mushoo, on 10/10/2007, -4/+27This justifies a coup d'état how?
- iTorrey, on 10/10/2007, -1/+24The scary thing is that there was actually a largely attended Nazi rally at Madison Square Garden where they hung banners of OUR FOUNDING FATHERS and told the people that the current government has gone away from the founders and that the Nazi movement can bring us back to liberty and freedom. People applauded. It was a rough time with the depression and people were looking for anything to save them and a number of people turned to the Nazi movement.
It's scary to think that this plan might have actually succeeded. Sadly here we are decades later falling for this again. Only now they are just more open and blatant about what they are doing to us. Just like the Nazis though they use the threat of terrorism to justify dictatorial powers and destroy our rule of law. It's history repeating its self. There has always been oppression and evil in this world and America is NOT immune.
This is coming from someone who was a big Bush supporter and voted for him in 2004 before waking up to what is really going on. - Rsimmond, on 10/10/2007, -5/+26Of the programs you refer to, only three remain today. The Works Progress administration, the Webster Act, and the Social Security Act. Most of his programs were struck down for being unconstitutional, which they were! He even threatened to stack the Supreme Court with his favorites because the Justices were doing the right thing! Its obvious that his wartime actions are all that were legitimately American. His extremist approach to dealing with the Great Depression set a dangerous precedent.
- Lisztman, on 10/10/2007, -23/+42To be fair, FDR had his fair share of really ***** ridiculous policies that he tried to institute.
I mean, the guy signed the executive order which created the concentration camps for over 100000 Japanese-Americans, amongst other things.
If FDR wasn't dying due to polio, lord knows how many times the guy who have muscled his way back into the White House. Afterwards, this was why they rushed to get an amendment passed which would limit presidential terms to two. Lets also not forget that the man basically disregarded whole sections of the Constitution so that he could get his "New Deal" under way.
Also, to put things into some perspective, the highway system was also originally a Nazi idea (Autobahn), and I don't hear anyone bitching about our Nazi freeways.
This is not to defend Prescott Bush's coup plans, but to hopefully counter some of the absurd reactions which are inevitable from such a headline. - spawnfree, on 10/10/2007, -0/+18ever wonder why Idiocracy was restrained by fox?
Corporations DO NOT NURTURE. They make more money if they give less in any given transaction.
I grew up watching my parents struggle in their co-dependent relationship and i see the same weak behaviour everywhere i go.
i see it in the elite families too; material wealth is not the point, they desire somthing else that they cant even remember because they have never recieved it from their cold, manipulative parents.
which is why the obscene amount of wealth they already have is not enough. - fitzy209, on 10/10/2007, -11/+29to say that FDR wasn't a great president before the war is far from the truth. during the great depression he set up some fundamental programs through the New Deal that are still quite relevant today. while he no doubt cemented his legacy during WWII, I'd say he was still a great president even before the war.
- Winston84, on 10/10/2007, -0/+18everybody who is bitching about Alex Jones, Prison Planet or Infowars :
You are off-topic, the source of this story is neither of the above but BBC/Channel 4.
That is clearly stated in the description and clicking the headline will take you directly to the source ..
funny you didn't notice when you went to hear it .... or maybe you didn't ? - nestafett, on 10/10/2007, -2/+19more about the plot,

Its a lot bigger than just Bush, in fact this is the first time Ive heard his name involved in this, so I dont think he was a huge figure. (but theres still 20 minutes left and we'll see if theres new info on this) - Daedalus17, on 10/10/2007, -3/+19What would be the point of overthrowing FDR to establish Fascist policies? He was already doing that without their help.
FDR
-Put thousands of Japanese in prison camps
-Greatly expanded the power of the executive branch
-Invoked war powers which would never cease even after he left office
-Gave certain companies official state supported monopoly status
-Instituted price and wage controls which were later deemed completely unconstitutional
-Started large national building projects(the national highway system was an idea taken from the Nazi's autobahn)
Bush would love to be able to do the kinds of stuff FDR got away with. For ***** sake he rounded up people and put them into camps for the simple reason that they were born a certain race. I can't believe how many Diggers idealize the guy in light of the crimes against liberty and the constitution he committed. - c4gc4g, on 10/10/2007, -2/+18WOW his whole family ... they're all traitors! And yet they thrive and get rich on the opportunities America has given them ... what a way to show your appreciation ... talk about ONE EVIL family ...
- Winston84, on 10/10/2007, -5/+20to those of you who say that FDR was a fascist communist who helped the politics of Lenin and Stalin :
Finally you are waking up and facing what a charade this whole right-left division is . a fascist is a fascist no matter what he calls himself .
To those of you calling it a "conspiracy-theory" : there is nothing theoretical about this .
To those who say the son shouldn't pay for the fathers crimes : I agree 100%, provided that the son does not continue the crime -
That is not the case here .
To those who think this isn't related to the NWO, the Bohemian Grove, the "neo-con" PNAC and AEI, Halliburton/Carlyle : keep dreaming .
To those of you who have buried this : Where do I contact you to get permission to post subjects you don't like ?
burying this because it's a "character assassination" is just lame : PreSScot Bush brought this on himself through his actions .
I love when people shoot the messenger and disregard the message : it shows a lot about the shooter and his democratic mind-set .
To those who think it would have been great and saved you from the depression : say after me :Sieg Heil . - digger4, on 10/10/2007, -3/+17Moveon.org is not going to help. Dem are controlled by the same people the Rep are controlled by. Watch Freedom to Fascism by Aaron Russo. I signed up for Moveon but quickly cancelled when I realized that their are not interested in restoring our Country but are more interested in getting Dem elected. They will defend actions of someone if they are from their party and that is not the way it should be. Rep or Dem if they are selling out the Country they need to be kicked out of office.
- startzpe, on 10/10/2007, -1/+14
Time to wake up and realize BushCo is a little pooch. Just like Prescott was a little bagman for the robber barons. Look at the names behind the coup, the Harrimans & Duponts etc. - SenorCardgage74, on 10/10/2007, -2/+15Roosevelt was elected in 1932. Ya know, a few years AFTER the beginning of the Great Depression.
- fitzy209, on 10/10/2007, -27/+40to say that FDR wasn't a great president before the war is far from the truth. during the great depression he set up some fundamental programs through the New Deal that are still quite relevant today. while he no doubt cemented his legacy during WWII, I'd say he was still a great president even before the war.
- kronix2, on 10/10/2007, -2/+15Most people tend to be shocked when they find out the father/grandfather of two US Presidents admired Hitler in some way.
- 15charmaxwtf, on 10/10/2007, -4/+17The whole of the New Deal was a preposterous idea, they had had multiple depressions in the past and hadn't done anything because it just got back to normal within 2 or so years. The New Deal (along with the Fed contracting the money supply by a 3rd) made it last much much longer. The real source of the problem was the Federal Reserve for inflating the money supply in the 20s, it is so crazy that some people still blame it on capitalism and still say that FDR saved the day.
Here's a book on it if anyone's interested:
http://www.mises.org/rothbard/agd/contents.asp
But, I'm not in the US so I guess they didn't tell me about the wonders of the New Deal at school :) Though, ironically enough, one of the UK Labour party's employment schemes is called The New Deal, so I guess the New Deal myth is prevalent over here too. - Ugoff, on 10/10/2007, -6/+18Well, maybe we could use Prescott's idea and maybe do something similar to his grandson. I wish, but nobody has spine in Congress anymore.
- jmpeagle, on 10/10/2007, -1/+13Democrats and Republicans aren't really different at all. It is the result of a 2 party system where both parties try to encompass as much of the center as possible without alienating the more staunchly liberal or conservative.
- gazwilwah, on 10/10/2007, -1/+12The bottom line here is that we the general public do not know anything about what is really going on, and its the Rupert Murdoch controlled media empire that keeps it that way.
- digger4, on 10/10/2007, -1/+12I dont get digg, does anyone know why this one actually made it to the front page under newly popular but on prison planet the story shows 373 diggs and is not showing up at all? I thought that the 373 might just be cumulative, but this story is going up 30 in a few mins diggs and that one is up only 2 during the same time so that cant be it. I dont get why that one is missing with 375 diggs and this one is up even though both stories are from today?
- iamlutheran, on 10/10/2007, -1/+12Not everyone here is a liberal you bloody idiot.
- eyebits, on 10/10/2007, -2/+13I am my father's son. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Blood is thicker than water.
For these reasons, I care. - worldinmyeyes, on 10/10/2007, -6/+15Prisonplanet and infowars stories make it to the front page, but the bury brigade do their best to suppress them. I laugh when the same story they are blocking gets on from another source. Then they'll scurry over here to play thought police, ridicule, and attempt to turn it into a left-right issue. What a world we live in.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9money masters. nuff said.

They have been ***** traitors, its a way of life to them.
- digger4, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8I dont think Prescott was interested in someone else ruling the U.S I think the point of overthrowing his was so that he could gain power for himself- make sense?
AND the point of all of this is not really whether FDR deserved to be overthrown it is the fact that Bush's (our president) grandfather actually tried to overthrow a U.S. President to establish a fascist regime much like what Bush is trying to do right now. - digger4, on 10/10/2007, -2/+10I wonder if the corporate media will cover this
- avasol, on 10/10/2007, -2/+10www.zeitgeistmovie.com will tell you all you need to know.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9No, let me help your broken mind...
"Use a PRONOUN or something." In this case you'd want him to replace "Ron Paul" with "him".
-No one will see this b/c i'm 2 threads in and digg's comment system sucks! - DBNKR, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8Thats just so ignorant...
Define "better source"? CNN? FOX? - polyGone, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9He's trained to say that. If there is something he doesn't understand or agree with, he just starts shouting talking points.
You may have missed his "cut and run" and "do the dems have a plan" spiels..... He is stuck in the dichotomy. - ShawnHunt, on 10/10/2007, -3/+11Have you ever spent any time looking into it? Particularly the Skull & Bones portion?
- WilliamDavis, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8No, but I might like to know if someone's family has had mental illness running through it for 100 years, so I can keep an eye out for it. Somewhat different of a situation, but dads teach sons how to act. If I were about to go into business with someone, I'd want to know if they came from a long line of mobsters.
- digger4, on 10/10/2007, -2/+10Geez your exactly what is wrong with this Country!!! The grandson of a man who tried to overthrow a US president to establish a dictatorship is now President and acting like a dictator and that is NOT worthy of being covered on the news?
- nestafett, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8Your not serious are you? commies? lose wars? wasnt FDR president in ww2 and Woodrow Wilson in ww1? whole country speaking French and looking like Cuba? lets keep this in the realm of reality ok? If you look at the track record theyve both done things to impair civil liberties (like Cuba does) but the repubs have a far worse record with that stuff. Plus a person can be proud of their heritage and vote democratic or Green or Libertarian or Republican, just because we dont agree doesnt mean Im not proud of my heritage, in fact Im going to be a U.S. History teacher.
You know Washington said that political parties will tear this country apart and seeing the way you view people who oppose your viewpoint really reinforces what he said. - ShorXrorE, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8i think you might all finally be getting it.
there are REAL conspiracies. not the crazy kind, just the actual definition of conspiracy. people conspiring together to do something. that's what a coup is, a conspiracy. these psychos have been around a long time trying to take over america and the world. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+9most of us know that the Bush admin is responsible for 9/11, but nobody does anything about it because of fears of being humiliated in front of other countries... (or just too much yiiihhaaaa pride in the ignorant american brain) the media is nothing but a bunch of lies with alternatives questioning the lies without giving out the answers
- fearorlovenow, on 10/10/2007, -2/+9I think they block infowars.com and prisonplanet.com articles from being on the front page. If you want to get an article that's on infowars/prisonplanet then go and digg the source article.
- Abomonog, on 10/10/2007, -4/+11I'm not sure how to take this. The fact is, if you are an economist, than Hitler is your god. In 1933 Germany was bankrupt with the highest inflation rate ever recorded in history (something in the line of 87,000% is what Guinness listed it at)(the book, not the beer). By 1938 only America had more money. THEN Hitler started the looting. Also, the ONLY American who knew what Hitler was really up to at the time was Henry Ford (Ford and Hitler were friends). HE wasn't talking. In fact Ford spent the 30's and 40's promoting Hitlers policies across America. He even Praised the Jewish ghettos in Warsaw.
Also, we did adopt Hitlers policies. Our Freeways are cheap copies of the autobahn (designed by Hitler). D.A.R.E. copies Hitler Youth almost to the letter. The original VW beetle was designed by Hitler himself with the technical details being handled by Ferdinand Porsche. Our Space program was borne on Hitlers scientists, and also the jet engine. In fact, Hitler ranks 3rd most influental idea maker in history after Nikola Tesla (who's inventions exist in every piece of electronics today, bar none) and Gene Roddenberry (who didn't invent a damn thing but saw almost every idea he had recreated in real life. These include the MRI, the automatic door, and the Clamshell Cell Phone design among others.)
America was mighty impressed with Hitler. Even During the war. Right up untill that day in 1944 when we found our first concentration camp. Even after that we were still impressed. McCarthy and Eisenhower both gave the German regular army commondations for fighting a "clean and well fought war". which is why you only see Gestapo at Nuremberg. Rommel and crew were not charged with war crimes, they were congratulated for their tactics.
For better or worse, America is embroiled with Naziism.
James Spaza. The BBC are just repeating old news that anyone would have known if they did any research beyond high school. That article is 100% correct, what is missing is WHY did these people like Hitler so much.
The answer is because everyone in America loved Hitler at the time. This didn't change into well into the American involvement in the war and we had found the camps.
Had Hitler not slaughtered the Jews, he would have taken a place in history along side Caesar, Napoleon, and General Lee, and probably would have stood as the greatest conquerer in history.
What is worrysome is that people still worship him today, or they just want to believe he never existed.
We cannot be allowed to forget Hitler and what he has done. He is the closest to the biblical discription of the Antichrist that the world has seen yet, and a reminder that great evil can easily hide behind seemingly great deeds. - brharri1, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6The problem in general is that people don't judge "conspiracy theories" on their merits. Many "theories" ARE ***** that are meant simply to discredit the legit ones. Judging a "conspiracy theory" on its own true merits is all that we ask.
- Waiting2awake, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6 No it isn't supposed to reflect on the current president - although sadly it will. What this should show you is that this did happen - that it is possible - that anyone that suggests that it might be happening now isn't a "moonbat", but is speaking from some form of historical perspective. That doesn't mean that those saying it is happening are right - just that the evidence shouldn't be cast off as ludicrous.
