- AustinMandi, on 04/30/2008, -2/+17Ron Paul already introduced a bill named American Freedom Agenda Act of 2007 to these ends but much more comprehensive. Our overlords promptly stuffed it away in a committee to die. The only reason Congress is choosing to bring this up now is to pay lip service to their Dem base in an election year. Total sham.

- zephyr42, on 05/01/2008, -1/+1Well technically it is a waste of paper because hemp is against the law... which is unconstitutional... which doesn't seem right...
- Lixie, on 05/01/2008, -1/+2The Patriot Act really has been superseded by a recent Supreme Court ruling though. It's now legal for cops to use evidence against you that was obtained by an illegal arrest, search and seizure. So really, whether it's legal for the government to wiretap, arrest, or kidnap (rendition) you is almost irrelevant, because there's little penalty for doing so and they can still obtain and use all the evidence gathered illegally.
