- jaxter2010, on 06/17/2009, -1/+60Why am I not surprised that a bunch of potheads were a day late getting this to the front page :)
Happy 4/21! - NikoKun, on 04/21/2008, -3/+42Well good, we need as much support as we can get. I'm sure if this issue was truly put to a national vote, the majority of people would be in favor of decriminalization.
- badwithcomputer, on 04/21/2008, -3/+35***** THE DEA
- Persian5Life, on 04/21/2008, -1/+30who says it is harmful? fox news lol
- MasterThief117, on 04/21/2008, -3/+26I have been a member of this group for some time.
I strongly feel that marijuana is not a bad drug. I know it is less dangerous than alcohol and tobacco. In fact, it is even safer than most over-the-counter drugs. This plant has thousands of uses in our society, possibly more. It's counterparts such as hemp can be used for many things, from textiles to fuel. It is truly the holy grail of horticulture, and yet it is banned. It sickens me that a government would do such a thing. - KoolHow, on 04/21/2008, -3/+25Do away with ALL victimless crimes!
- LumpyRevolution, on 04/21/2008, -3/+25I don't smoke pot but I don't want anyone telling me if I can or can't. It's not up to anyone but me. Power to the people! Read the Constitution! Legalize it!

Sanity must prevail. ILast night I got stopped by California Border patrol just east of Viejas.. They found my ganja but left it for me. They did not hassle me for it.
From the looks of it, the FEDS( Border Patrol) ALLOWED ME TO PASS, and even declined to snag my stash.
(from my San Diego Craigslist posting)
So I did this gig in El Centro tonight....was kinda worried because the drive there set off the "CHECK ENGINE light" in the car....ugh.
On the way home at the BP checkpoint the dog went off on my vehicle and I got curried into secondary inspection. Cop asks me "Got anything I oughta know about?" I say "Just a little personal weed, it's in between the seats".
He verifies and says "because you were honest with me you can go."
He left me my stash and new vapor pipe. (**sniff**). Mr. BP man, were I a gay man I'd be banging you like Carmen Electra. You restored my faith in civil liberties. You deserve a raise.
I say we congratulate them, - deMonkey, on 04/21/2008, -0/+19I don't know anyone that's been harmed by pot, either by themselves or others. I know MANY people that have been harmed by alcohol and even cigarettes.
Maybe people are passionate about it because this "activity" is a personal liberty that's unjustly being denied due to corrupt politicians, racism, and powerful tycoons who brainwashed the mainstream many years ago? Maybe because the act of smoking cannabis is spiritual to some? It's a more important battle than you think. It's about personal liberties, freedom, and the right to do what you please with your body. There are many worse things than pot that are perfectly legal. Hundreds, thousands even.
I was the most straight edge dude you would've met 5 years ago. I didn't even drink caffeine. At 22 years old I had never been drunk, yet had seen friends use heroin in my presence. The first time I smoked pot it was all clear to me: I was tricked and deceived by my government. - NikoKun, on 04/21/2008, -0/+18This is a real major issue for some of us. Prohibition causes great harm to us.
- Subversyve, on 04/21/2008, -3/+20The time has come to recognize the right of individual states to govern these issues for themselves. Instead of deal with it or get the hell out of the USA, it should be deal with it or get the hell out of Texas.
- kemp34, on 04/21/2008, -1/+17Pharmaceutical companies who want you on their meds.
- StingingNettle, on 04/21/2008, -3/+19I still have my shirt from when I signed up. "Fight Terrorism, Buy Domestic"
- rentmitchum, on 04/21/2008, -1/+16The tyranny and the ***** has gone on too long. You old ***** shrivs who blocked it's legalization, you're BANISHED FROM THE LAND!
- deMonkey, on 04/21/2008, -0/+13Well if it's not harmful, then why is it criminalized in the first place? I mean, why is something that a lot of people enjoy that doesn't hurt *anyone* (especially relatively, when compared to legal stuff) illegal at all?
That's why it was banned in the first place, right? I'm assuming they didn't just ban it to piss off a lot of people. No, instead lobbyists created a huge pile of propaganda (Reefer Madness for one) to make people think it was this horrible, life altering drug that led people to promiscuous sex, violence, and murder.
All of that was a lie though. What more should be needed for its decriminalization? The argument is that it was illogical to ban it in the first place based on those myths. If those lies weren't enough, how about the other reasons I mentioned? It's just an f'in plant!
As for driving... personally I'd rather have 100% of people on the road stoned out of their mind from pot than even 10% of them piss drunk. I remember a Top Gear experiment where the editors all got stoned and they drove safer than when they were sober, but unfortunately we'll never have lab tests to confirm anything about pot in this country because it's so taboo thanks to the wonderful job those anti-pot propagandists did many years ago. - diabolicdiablo, on 04/21/2008, -5/+17Comedy central was playing Cheech & Chong today. Coincidental ?
This archaic law has been overdue for change since it's inception.
Happy 4:20 all!!! - LOLIGATOR, on 04/21/2008, -4/+15pot is almost as enjoyable as sex but what's the most enjoyable is being high during sex
- sodade, on 04/21/2008, -2/+13Yep - we have to wait until the people old enough to have been programmed by years of govt propaganda die out.
- JoeVet, on 04/21/2008, -0/+10Actually this should be an individual freedom, not a state or federal issue.
- inlovingmemory, on 04/21/2008, -0/+8I hope it is legalized, I hate being looked down on for what i choose to do to relax.
The worst is being preached to by drinkers, when i explain that alcohol is just as bad or worse they give the same old line every time;
"yer....well at least alcohol is legal" - tanside, on 04/21/2008, -2/+10Well put, but as much as i'd like to agree i hardly believe the majority would vote in favor of decriminalization if this was brought to a vote today, even if there are a hundred reasons why it would help our country in these trying times.
- bdawg123, on 04/21/2008, -0/+7What's not to get? You don't understand the concept of a double standard? You freely admit that alcohol is worse and apparently have no problem with it being legal. You say you don't want people driving under the influence of other drugs but that very same risk exists with drinkers. What is so special about marijuana that warrants it being illegal? Now explain to me why those reasons shouldn't apply to alcohol. If you can't, then either legalize pot or make alcohol illegal.

- JoeVet, on 04/21/2008, -0/+7How can any of this be news to anyone in this day and age.
- grungegbunny, on 04/21/2008, -1/+8it was time 50 years ago.
- fuchsm2002, on 04/21/2008, -4/+114:20... reminds me of the good days in college ;)
- kolinsmorisa, on 04/21/2008, -5/+11This is a very interesting resource .. write even more things ..
- PrettyBoyFloyd, on 04/21/2008, -3/+9I just renewed my membership, thanks to this Digg post. I'm also a member of California NORML (the local state chapter), Americans for Safe Access (http://www.safeaccessnow.org) and The Marijuana Policy Project (http://www.mpp.org). I guess I need to celebrate the day in another hour or so...
- LumpyRevolution, on 04/21/2008, -3/+9They have also just discovered the cancer cure in the flowers. I think the drug companies have known about it for a long time now. It's them who wanted it made illegal. They bought the lawmakers and forgot about the people... again.
- motafett, on 04/21/2008, -2/+7Nice find man, $4.20 a year should be their permanent price! Sign up everyone to help convince NORML.
- Subversyve, on 04/21/2008, -0/+5And of course the ad that pops up to the right of the page is for alcohol. Cheers!
- haus34, on 04/21/2008, -0/+5whos to say that this is the only cause that someone is fighting for?
just because i voice my support of legalizing it, doesnt mean that i dont spend any time(and money) voicing my other opinions.
its possible to fight more than one battle at a time
try not to be so closed minded about things you dont understand - lnf69, on 04/21/2008, -2/+7Have fun working for those types of bosses! Hope you feel that the loss of your personal freedoms is no big deal, since you put a possible prospective boss's ideal ahead of your own.
- Caleb83, on 04/21/2008, -0/+5no coincidence. 420 isn't secret anymore. your grandma in the nursing home knows what 420 is. several stations were playing 'stoner programming'
- bdawg123, on 04/21/2008, -1/+5I say anything that can bring national attention to the cause is a good thing. It means that at least once a year people are at least aware that there is a growing movement for the reformation of marijuana laws. The bigger the day becomes, the better.
- Sherman901, on 04/21/2008, -0/+4and the RIAA
- jboitnott, on 04/21/2008, -0/+4Blame the algorithm. Not the pot dude. :-)
- Barnolde, on 04/21/2008, -1/+5The economy is going to *****, tax weed already and let people grow it as well. After all, if it makes you so lazy, it'd be easier to just buy it at a gas station, right?
- Caleb83, on 04/21/2008, -3/+7you probably encountered a cop who was lazy, and didn't want to fill out paperwork
- danarama, on 04/21/2008, -0/+3lets
- Rammy912, on 04/21/2008, -0/+3Maybe it's time... time to GET HIGH!! WOOOOOO!
- codyodell, on 04/21/2008, -1/+4Wow, you must be stoned.
- inactive, on 04/21/2008, -1/+4Having a "business model" assumes that you are trying to break a profit, which they are not. And it's not exactly a failure to have about one out of every 500 adults in the country be a member of your organization.
- sodade, on 04/21/2008, -0/+3I have to admit that I am afraid to have my name associated with these organizations.
- asherchang, on 04/21/2008, -0/+3"write even more things".
Brilliantly stated. QFT. - haus34, on 04/21/2008, -0/+3lots of police (im not saying all) will bust you for lying, and not for the pot, ive gotten away with a small amount of weed just for being honest.. but it certainly is taking a risk by telling the truth, because some cops will certainly bust you anyway
- AnotherBrian, on 04/21/2008, -5/+8I'm for legalization and all, but can we please stop with all the god damn 420 references. It stopped being clever or subversive a long time ago, especially since Comedy Central has been using it as an excuse to rerun How High and Cheech & Chong.
- Area51mafia, on 04/21/2008, -0/+2I did my service hours for my Senior Project recently by interning at the NORML offices in DC. They need all the support that you're willing to give them. Voice your opinion to your representatives and make sure they know what you stand for. Eventually the many years of prohibition will be reversed, and we'll be able to enjoy this plant without being afraid.
Join up and support NORML if you have the money. They'll take any donation amount. - DrummerAndrew, on 04/21/2008, -0/+2Write your congressperson to support Barney Frank's "Make room for serious criminals act." Do it!
