- deadonbroadway, on 10/01/2008, -1/+83This is uplifting news indeed, however we can not slow down until this election is won.
- jstohler, on 10/01/2008, -0/+46North Carolina too: http://publicpolicypolling.blogspot.com/2008/09/ob ...
- t3rmv3locity, on 10/01/2008, -0/+42Play around with this interactive election map...this is bad news for John McCain...
http://www.270towin.com/ - inactive, on 10/02/2008, -0/+38I hope to god something doesn't happen in the next 5 weeks to cause Obama to lose the election.
I really do not want John McCain as president. - inactive, on 10/01/2008, -2/+30WTF? What does that have to do with anything?!!!
- SeniorFuzzy, on 10/02/2008, -1/+27It was bound to happen. When Mc Cain can only make nasty remarks he would get killed at the debates because he doesn't know anything about the economy and fails to show a shred of decency to Obama. Voters are starting to realize he has no plan for America other than failure. He was officially an idiot when he picked Palin for VP.
- inactive, on 10/01/2008, -3/+27Hope fades for McCain/Palin.
McCain Interviews Writers for Concession Speech. - rz8472, on 10/02/2008, -0/+22More like McCain interviews Diebold CEOs for 'assistance'...
- inactive, on 10/02/2008, -0/+18Nothing really matters till November 4th.
- bcarl314, on 10/02/2008, -0/+17Actually, if you look at electoral-vote.com, that's not true.
According to the site current tally is: Obama: 286 - McCain: 190 w/ 62 ties
Same date in 2004:
http://www.electoral-vote.com/evp2004/Pres/Maps/Oc ...
Bush: 276 - Kerry: 221 with 41 ties - Crazd, on 10/02/2008, -4/+20Can we PLEASE link to real news websites for this sort of thing? There are a large number of people who won't click on Huffington Post out of principle. They're just as bad as Fox, so use a less biased source when it's real news like this. It holds a lot more weight.
http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/10/01/battlegroun ... - TonyLocNE, on 10/02/2008, -0/+15I don't think 51% to 43% is a large enough margin in Florida to compete against other variable factors......
- Depthfunction, on 10/01/2008, -0/+15Those polls, especially the PA poll, seem a little too optimistic to me. Still, the fact remains that Obama is on the road to victory, and he has so many more paths to 270 than McCain does (Obama doesn't need to win OH or FL, for example, but McCain absolutely MUST win those states). It'll take one hell of an October Surprise, or an unprecedented meltdown from Obama, for McCain to pull off an upset.
- dinot, on 10/02/2008, -1/+16As an Obama supporter myself, and with all due respect, YOU'RE NOT HELPING.
- huggybarrel, on 10/02/2008, -1/+14racism i'd say.
- sulthernao, on 10/02/2008, -0/+13What? (and the math says it went up 89, not that it means anything...)
- GuanYuber, on 10/02/2008, -0/+12Don't be fooled by these polls.
Margin of Error is to be considered, not to mention....40 days is, like, a millenium in political time. ANYTHING could happen. Don't get your hopes up just yet. - inactive, on 10/02/2008, -0/+12During the time I read this comment the temperature of my blood raised 43 degrees.
- FongoBongo, on 10/02/2008, -1/+12Hopefully this won't end the way it did in Ohio or Florida.
- duckley, on 10/02/2008, -0/+10Republicans are desperate to cover up the 10,000 crimes they've committed.
EXPECT some tricks and nasty surprises. - geekwithsoul, on 10/02/2008, -1/+10As Bill Murray's character in Groundhog Day says "People like blood sausage, too. People are morons."
- inactive, on 10/02/2008, -3/+12Kerry had a similar lead in '04 before Bush launched swiftboat ads. Expect McCain to intensify his attacks.
- modernMarvel158, on 10/02/2008, -0/+9This is good news for Obama supporters. It's still a little early to give much consideration to polling. In past elections, this has seemed to have little bearing on the final results.
Considering that there are still two debates left, and a lot going on with the financial package being worked on by congress - anything could happen still. - inactive, on 10/02/2008, -0/+9I wonder why it thinks Michigan is undecided.
- doublefelix, on 10/02/2008, -1/+10Obama needs to win this thing with a mandate to end all mandates and much of the free world will unite behind us once more.
- v4vishal, on 10/02/2008, -3/+11On the similar note, McCain suspended his campaign to "help" the economy and DOW plummeted 777 points.
- EtherGnat, on 10/02/2008, -0/+8Obama has increased his lead from 8 to 168 in the electoral college (based on state polls) since 9/26. Of course that means it could swing back just as quickly, but things are looking good. Florida, North Carolina, Ohio, Nevada, and Virginia have all switched to blue. http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/maps/obama ...
- elfuego, on 10/02/2008, -0/+8This is... encouraging to me personally, but polls are never a guarantee of what will happen. If this is what you want to hear, if this isn't what you want to hear, the only way to make your voice heard on election day is to VOTE!
- wheresjim, on 10/02/2008, -1/+8This election has boiled down to Obama vs. Nobama - is anyone really a truly enthusiastic McCain supporter? I can see if the image he had back in 2000 was true, but now that we know he is truly a political whore like the rest of them, anyone I talk to isn't a McCain supporter, they are typically line voting republicans or people with an issue with voting for Obama and/or misinformation (i.e. "Obama's going to raise taxes on my $65,000/yr salary", "Secret Muslim", etc.). At this point it's sorta like really being into Huey Lewis and the News.
- RhoVisions, on 10/02/2008, -0/+7Unfortunately the biggest problem Obama has is simple: racism is unfortunately still strong in America. People might say Obama at the polls but we won't know what they voted until they final numbers are in... :-(
- sulthernao, on 10/02/2008, -0/+7http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/maps/obama ...
Has it 353-185. Obama is winning the Bush states of NV, CO, NM, IA, OH, VA, NC, FL. - homercles337, on 10/02/2008, -0/+7I wonder if marc54 is "special." You know, like rides the short bus.
- dynamiks, on 10/02/2008, -4/+11We need to ram it up their ***** asses!
- magus_melchior, on 10/02/2008, -1/+8To all of you predicting an easy McCain loss, I have just these to say to you:

Never, ever get complacent when facing a determined foe.
(It's not the original-- NBC DMCA'd that one off of Youtube. But this one drives the point home.) - AndrewDB, on 10/02/2008, -1/+7Indiana has been polling up democratically for the first time in YEARS..
I'm so excited to see my state finally be considered a battleground state instead of being painted red right off the bat. - BigDigg55, on 10/02/2008, -1/+7psst...STOP
- inactive, on 10/02/2008, -0/+6let the recounts begin.
- mgill3, on 10/02/2008, -0/+6Actually, I think CNN's is much better.
http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2008/calculator/ - GregIsLegend, on 10/02/2008, -2/+8Can someone please reassure me? I still have this horrible feeling that McCain is going to win... :(
- micklerlop, on 10/02/2008, -1/+751.2%....
- tj111, on 10/02/2008, -0/+6Lol @ North Carolina's polls. http://i37.tinypic.com/2q3ysyw.png
- nernie, on 10/02/2008, -0/+6It's not over yet--we still need to make this happen. Please, please, please, make sure you still vote http://make.ourpledgetovote.com/
- homercles337, on 10/02/2008, -2/+8I would like to know why McCain/Palin have such a high percentage. Can anyone clarify this for me?
- iamichi, on 11/12/2008, -0/+5Bring on the VP debate!!!!
- absurdist, on 10/02/2008, -1/+6Ah, good, the true colors are coming out. So you really don't give a ***** about the constitution, particularly a little thing like the first amendment. Get the ***** out of my country.
- renanrcarvalho, on 10/02/2008, -0/+5You're so right!
Even if you think that the candidate you support will win the election because that's what the polls are saying, go and vote for him. There are a lot of people thinking otherwise. - jcannonb, on 10/02/2008, -0/+5Actually you don't want Palin as president. McCain's health is so frail now, and the presidency only drastically accelerates the aging process. Palin would be president before you know it!
- Pinkertinkle, on 10/02/2008, -0/+5Good but keep at it, McCalin could still pull some dirty tricks.
- magus_melchior, on 10/02/2008, -1/+6@TheLastFreeMan: They've been doing that for weeks now. Their final tactic is to rig the polls. We need to make absolutely certain that it doesn't happen again.
1. Paper ballots.
2. Paper ballots.
3. Check your polling place with the Secretary of State, and with at least 2 verifiable sources. If asked for party affiliation in a swing state when you want to know where your polling place is, say "Republican". Do not let them use the "tax exemption status" or "health insurance benefits loss" excuses if you are a student-- the US Constitution prohibits discrimination for any reason excluding death!
4. Paper ballots. As in, "absentee" or "mail-in". Certify it and put insurance on it through the USPS if you're really feeling paranoid, or if you're in a swing precinct. Make sure that if the Republicans steal, deny, or destroy even the absentee ballots, they have to corrupt and pay off more than they can afford. - CuriousJohnson, on 10/02/2008, -0/+5http://www.fivethirtyeight.com/
