- Doughboy1917, on 10/02/2008, -3/+205Looks like McCain is going to have to suspend his campaign again. That worked so well for him the last time he did it.
- drunkentoad, on 10/02/2008, -7/+133I don't think it's really going to matter on the day.
Electronic voting means your vote is whatever 'they' want it to be, not what you wanted it to be. No physical proof an actual vote ever existed anymore.
That said. . . . Obama08
Please don't f**k this one up America - aliengoods, on 10/02/2008, -0/+91In the words of Jon Stewart:
"What part of McCain fixed the economy doesn't the economy understand?" - scheibs14, on 10/02/2008, -4/+75I use http://www.realclearpolitics.com/ for a nice average of 10 different polls.
Then I'll use Faux News polls whenever they spit out a new one because if Obama is winning a Fox News poll, things are lookin good. http://elections.foxnews.com/2008/09/24/fox-news-p ... - inactive, on 10/02/2008, -2/+69If Republicans still win, then my friends, we have a dictatorship!

- WasabiBomb, on 10/02/2008, -1/+38Personally, I'm going to vote for the candidate who's NOT endorsed by the worst President in history. I'm going to vote for the candidate who isn't in bed with the Religious Right. I'm going to vote for the candidate who doesn't mention he's a POW every time he has a question he doesn't want to answer. I'm going to vote for the candidate who is trying to run a clean campaign- the one who doesn't pay people to blog for him.
Oh, and I also took the effort to look up Obama's stance on the issues, rather than just insisting that he's a "gimmick". I'm voting Obama. - pintomp3, on 10/02/2008, -2/+38STOP
Pander time. - cheesegypsy, on 10/02/2008, -1/+34Okay, so how are they going to shake up the campaign tomorrow. The Palin debate is tomorrow and I'm guessing a catastrophe of some sort is in the works. Last week when bad polling came out they suspended the campaign, so this week they will ________.
- charm803, on 10/02/2008, -0/+30McCain is pulling out of Michigan!
(If he's losing, why didn't he send in MORE help, you know, like the surge that worked for Iraq?)
http://news.yahoo.com/s/politico/20081002/pl_polit ...
"John McCain is pulling out of Michigan, according to two Republicans, a stunning move a month away from Election Day that indicates the difficulty Republicans are having in finding blue states to put in play.
McCain will go off TV in Michigan, stop dropping mail there and send most of his staff to more competitive states, including Wisconsin, Ohio and Florida. " - scarolan, on 10/02/2008, -1/+30It's probably more like a 15% lead. Remember that these phone polls only include *land lines*. Obama has tens of thousands of younger supporters who only have cell phones.
- Hetman, on 10/02/2008, -5/+33Personally I want an independent to win. However if the Dems cannot win against McCain/Palin ticket then they should just give up. Because those are the two most incompetent people in Washington. And if you cannot win against them you have no hope of ever winning another election.
- LogicBomB, on 10/02/2008, -0/+25Guess that just leaves flat out cheating...
- JDoorjam, on 10/02/2008, -1/+23I support Obama because of his stances on transportation and energy, especially passenger rail, which McCain has attempted to cut funding for while in the Senate. I believe encouraging these sectors will be vital to our success in the coming decades, and McCain simply has the wrong stances, particularly on transportation.
McCain also has stated that he wants to do to the health industry what has been done in the past ten years to the finance industry; Obama's health plan is far closer to what I hope will be enacted. (I actually wish the plan were even more comprehensive, a la Edwards' or Clinton's plans, but will take what I can get.) In fact, in general, McCain is in favor of deregulation at a time when it's becoming increasingly clear that more regulation is necessary in order to rein in industries that are incapable of managing their own appetites.
I am concerned about the far-right positions of McCain's running mate, who does not seem to have nearly enough experience on the national scene to run the country (and I am uncompelled by the argument that "executive experience" fills this gap), especially given the odds that McCain may be incapacitated or killed by any number of maladies that affect people of his age in jobs as stressful as the U.S. Presidency.
Finally, Obama's tax plan will benefit me more than McCain's, _and_ provides a better basis of support for the programs he's hoping to fund.
Hope that helps! - cadmiumpaint, on 10/02/2008, -0/+22Watch McCain run swiftboat ads.
"Obama wasn't in the Navy, but if he was he wouldn't have been a hero like me who crashed his plane so you could be free" - ngmcs8203, on 10/02/2008, -0/+22http://www.fivethirtyeight.com/ is good too.

Now, what was I hearing a few days after the GOP convention, when McCain had a slight lead in some of the polls, oh that's right "LOOKS LIKE THE DEMS ARE RUNNING SCARED, THESE NUMBERS DON'T LIE!!!!"
And, we haven't even had the VP debate yet (6 hours away).
The worm. It has turned. Maybe next time. - ieee, on 10/02/2008, -1/+22Lets cross our fingers for a sustained lead and a sustained double digit lead. We don't want deibold helping the republicans again in a neck and neck election. Plus the Republicans still have an October surprise to pull
- jeffbw, on 10/02/2008, -2/+19Why on earth was McClown ever in this race?? This is a man who thinks the al Qaida train in Iran.
- inactive, on 10/02/2008, -1/+17If this keeps up I predict a landslide win for Obama in November! Woot!
- megapeg, on 10/02/2008, -0/+16Most places in New York still use the old-fashioned mechanical machines. I'm all for it - they don't break, they have to be unlocked by two people, they don't crash, they're easy to use... Plus, it's fun to pull that lever.
- xtinamo, on 10/02/2008, -1/+16That is what happens when one "aspires to be a dictator."
http://thinkprogress.org/2008/10/01/mccain-aspire- ... - cadmiumpaint, on 10/02/2008, -0/+15and younger voters tend to favor Obama like 60% to 30%

- nernie, on 10/02/2008, -3/+17This is great news, but it's not nearly over. Now it's all up to us--we have a job to do. Please everybody, make sure you vote http://make.ourpledgetovote.com/
- StupotAce, on 10/02/2008, -0/+14I have a question for the McCain supporters; If you aren't crazy, then why do you support McCain/Palin? I get that you're a Republican (there really is no other reason to support McCain), but seriously? I mean, unless you want to take away the fact that McCain very often says one thing and then two days later says the opposite thing.
Every McCain supporter that I asked this face-to-face has yet to answer the question, instead they just start attacking Obama (and sometimes me). Oh well, at least the economy is still fundamentally strong. - brian223, on 10/02/2008, -0/+13McCain, please concede already...stop dragging this out, it's over.
- atdigg, on 10/02/2008, -0/+13Guess lying doesn't help much...
- davidrools, on 10/02/2008, -0/+13he should suspend his campaign til December.
- drmobutu, on 10/02/2008, -0/+13...outfit Palin with an earpiece, so she can be spoon-fed real-time facts and figures to regurgitate along with her prepared answers and obligatory catchphrase "zingers"...

- pintomp3, on 10/02/2008, -0/+12i mean to say it's harder if it's not close. my bad.
- future15tbd, on 10/02/2008, -0/+12Never underestimate the GOP in suppressing voter turnout.
- HarryRag, on 10/02/2008, -1/+13Oh man... I'll be amazed of Obama wins. It seems likely at this point. But anything can happen. Besides, it's the country that voted TWICE for President Bush...
President Obama, eh? I like the sound of that. - pgoetz, on 10/02/2008, -1/+12Why not, that's what they did for Bush when he was "debating" Al Gore in 1999....
- Clbull, on 10/02/2008, -3/+14HORRAY! I hope Obama wins
- enantiodromia, on 10/02/2008, -1/+12well, it all started with a little speech he delivered at the DNC convention a few years ago...

Edit: Really, the "empty suit" meme is old. Come up with something better. - charm803, on 10/02/2008, -0/+11....say Palin's daughter is in false labor and it's a private issues.
Miraculously, on Monday, it will be announced that it was a false alarm. - Visual77, on 10/02/2008, -0/+10When God assassinates an old man, it's considered natural causes.
Just sayin'. - inactive, on 10/02/2008, -0/+10I just hope the neocons don't try some kind of false flag October surprise attack
- dcmjzero, on 10/02/2008, -0/+10You realize it was the other way around, right? McCain now wants more regulation- something he was earlier opposed to (flip flop?). Obama has consistently backed tighter regulations.
I give you a 2/10 troll rating. - ScienceDoc, on 10/02/2008, -1/+11Nap time Johnny.
- enantiodromia, on 10/02/2008, -0/+10John McCain leads Barack Obama by three percentage points in Virginia
three percentage points in Virginia
in Virginia
Virginia
that's one state, bro. - FredFredrickson, on 10/02/2008, -0/+10That definitely wouldn't happen if McCain won... because the only thing worse than President McCain is President Palin.
- powatom, on 10/02/2008, -1/+11That is one of the most ridiculous questions I have ever heard. You need to know your president's opinions, his ability to communicate, his manner when faced with tough decisions etc. It's easy to vote on something, what matters is your actual opinions on the matter (for example, you may agree with some parts of a bill you voted yes on, but disagree with other parts), your skills at diplomacy and pretty much the entire package as a human being. It's no surprise nobody has given you a straight answer: it's a retarded question.
- Kohaxx, on 10/02/2008, -0/+10Oh and if you want a neutral source of exposing campaign lies and logical fallacies here's what you should be reading:
http://factcheck.org/
It catches Obama a few times making some minor errors but a look at any given month will show you quite clearly that McCain is basing his campaign off complete misinformation and flat out lies.
For example I'm sure you've heard McCain say Obama will run up the national deficit with his "socialized healthcare plan" (which it isn't but whatever), the fact is financial analysts looked at both campaigns speeches, plans, and promises and despite the fact that as they stand now both would run up debt, McCain's plan runs up over twice the debt Obama's does in eight years. TWICE. Without even giving "socialized healthcare" -
