- geekchic, on 10/10/2007, -5/+190Ironic that only yesterday, President Bush was calling on Myanmar and Nth Korea to allow pro-democracy protesters to voice their opinions without fear or intimidation.
Maybe he should take a look out of the Oval Office window sometimes and see what goes on in his own backyard? - ezstan, on 10/10/2007, -4/+128Wow....here is the video of the incident. Completely uncalled for reaction by the police.

- Latraki, on 10/10/2007, -8/+84General David Maximus Petraeus will assure the Emperor and his vassals that the subjugation on the frontiers is going well. The riches will soon be flowing toward the center of the Empire.
- littlebylittle, on 10/10/2007, -9/+79Let this be a lesson to you Hippie War Protesters. Freedom to gather and freedom of speech are dead in this country. Get used to it.
-- The NeoCons - Etchii, on 10/10/2007, -0/+66We have a right to peaceful assembly.
- Aroditis, on 10/10/2007, -4/+68the cops broke up a press conferance?
- MurderMystery, on 10/10/2007, -6/+66Sorry, but you need a permit to rally here. What are you guys protesting? The war? Sorry, permit denied. It could cause a riot. It could stop traffic. People might complain about the noise. Have a nice day.
- nbeck, on 10/10/2007, -4/+55I wonder if MLK had a permit for his rallies? Freedom in America is dead. I literally cannot believe people who think it's okay the protesters were arrested. You are mindless ***** drones that will never know the meaning of freedom. Seriously.
Arrested for improper GLUE? Dear Lord. And yet we bomb countries overseas in the name of protecting our freedom. - fyrehart, on 10/10/2007, -3/+52http://www.aclu.org/freespeech/protest/11238prs20050502.html
"The new law declares that people have a right to demonstrate "near the object of their protest so they may be seen and heard," and makes clear that people do not need police permission to exercise their constitutional right to freedom of speech."
This is IN DC. - Tabou, on 10/10/2007, -6/+52Which part of "biodegradable wheat-based glue" did you not understand?
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+45During their march they need to remember to have hundreds of videographers tapping everything and everybody.
No need to remind people what the police in Canada tried to do during the SPP protest where police were sent in to cause a riot: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=St1-WTc1kow
You can bet your ass our government WILL send in agent provocateurs in order to start a riot and discredit the entire movement. - keyboardduder, on 10/10/2007, -4/+47***** that, i still marching on the 11th.
- cryptomystic, on 10/10/2007, -2/+43Hypocrisy at it's finest.
- NSMike, on 10/10/2007, -7/+45They had a permit. It's called the first amendment.
- somnambualist, on 10/21/2007, -1/+36There is a lot of important information left out here.
First, it was not a rally, it was a press conference outside. You do not need a permit for that.
Second, this was NOT DC metro police. This was Park Police. DC metro are usually some of the most professional and respectful police on the planet when it comes to demonstrations.
The Park Police, on the other hand, are part of the National Parks Service and are Federal employees. None (and I mean none) are from urban areas or have any real police experience. They come in through the back door of being a security gaurd for the park service and then transferring here. Their training is zilch and they take orders from politicos including the WH. I have seen them taunt and tease protesters, trying to get them to react.
The Park Police need to be completely expelled from DC. They are a menace. Their jobs could easily be taken over by DC finest or even the SS at a lower cost to the Fed gov.
Answer has organized a ton of huge protests in DC and, as such, are on the Park Police ***** list. This whole thing about the paste started with an erroneous report on the local Fox affiliate. Park Police ran with it.
The incident yesterday was about suppressing the press and that is all. I am no fan of Answer, but I am not kidding when I say that the Park Police are out of control and there is going to be a disaster at some point that will make Kent State look like a spelling bee. - terrordome, on 10/10/2007, -4/+38Keep on pushing towards peace, my American comrades.
- fyrehart, on 10/10/2007, -3/+34Come on the 15th too!
www.sept15.org - ZenFountain, on 10/10/2007, -7/+36Since when do two dozen people need a permit to gather?
- Elohir, on 10/10/2007, -1/+29It's strange to see someone unabashedly laud the idea of a gathering of people (for not violent purposes) having to be state-approved.
To quote George Carlin "Doesn't seem fair to me, don't seem right." - asaturn, on 10/10/2007, -0/+26actually you don't need a permit. in DC, people have the right to demonstrate near the object of their protest so they may be seen and heard ... no permit necessary. otherwise no permits would ever be granted in DC.
- faskippy, on 10/10/2007, -1/+26He'd only be checking to make sure his plans for supression are working...
- ajpalmieri, on 10/10/2007, -4/+29I AM SO MAD RIGHT NOW!
- joel2600, on 10/10/2007, -0/+25There is another rally next weekend, it's going to be much bigger.... Let's all get out and do something that matters.
http://www.sept15.org/ - GirthAgain, on 10/10/2007, -9/+32It wasn't an official GWB approved press conference. Yeah, I'm guessing they are in Gitmo right about now.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -7/+30And free speech isn't sedition, *****.
- bagold51, on 10/10/2007, -13/+35It was a PEACEFUL (read peaceful)press conference until the Gestapo barged in. I guess you would be part of the 28% of the sheep following the biggest loser of a President in the history of this country. Mindless sheep all of you.
- kethraal, on 10/10/2007, -5/+27"How long before the tanks roll in...Who's going to be the brave soul to stand in their way?"
***** standing in their way. We've got tread spikes. - reyalp, on 10/10/2007, -1/+23"Today, we need a nation of Minutemen, citizens who are not only prepared to take arms, but citizens who regard the preservation of freedom as the basic purpose of their daily life and who are willing to consciously work and sacrifice for that freedom."

- Scotty87, on 10/10/2007, -4/+25GWB is a ***** moron, disgrace to leadership!
- GirthAgain, on 10/10/2007, -1/+21Um, no? However I may have an opinion that differs from yours, and while my post was indeed satire, the fact remains the press conference was broken up because of it's content.
- mango42, on 10/10/2007, -3/+23Great link, ezstan but waddya mean by 'completely uncalled for'??? It's EXACTLY what Rockefeller and his Bohemian grove pals have been 'calling for' for decades! How much longer before America wakes up and SMELLS the corruption? Check out Senator John Decamp's 'Franklin Cover-up' to find out what's really going down with these NWO psychopaths.

- analogkid01, on 10/10/2007, -7/+26Did they have a permit? Yeah, called the Constitution. Read it some time. It also says a lot about enumeration of powers, which you and other NeoCons might find illuminating.

"To announce that there must be no criticism of the president, or that we are to stand by the president right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public."
-- http://www.quotedb.com/quotes/1730 - ZenFountain, on 10/10/2007, -2/+18Do two dozen people having a meeting need road blocks? I have gone to many public meetings with as many or more people without a permit.
- mango42, on 10/10/2007, -4/+20Correction - we HAD a right to peaceful assembly. That got trashed in Bush/Scherff's signing statements declaring him and Cheney a joint dictatorship. Don't believe me? Go here:-
