- pintomp3, on 12/06/2007, -2/+23where do they keep finding these soulless liars to do the job of white house press secretary?
- ordig, on 12/06/2007, -2/+14Washington D.C. They are everywhere
- rapcrap187, on 12/07/2007, -1/+8Tony Snow was such a better liar.
- Groovemaster, on 12/07/2007, -3/+10I honestly believe that even if the criminals in the White House were 100% honest about their agenda, Americans would still do nothing about it.
- brentinkc, on 12/07/2007, -2/+8This is what it looks like when a puppet controls a puppet

- blackhawk919, on 12/07/2007, -0/+2Ok well what I've heard/read is that Bush stated clearly that he had heard information about the preparation of the NIE in August. He was not briefed on the contents at that time. The NIE was mentioned and it was stated that there was going to be a "drastic" (or something like that) change to previous intelliegence. He did hear about the NIE in August and it's completely (at least IMO) plausable that the Press Secretary considerd that to be Bush being briefed on the NIE in August even though the contents of the NIE were not discussed.
When he said he first heard about the NIE "last wednesday" obviously that was not the first time he had ever heard about the NIE. Is anyone really claiming that? That's ludicrous to think that the president was saying that he had never heard of the NIE before. To me it's obvious, maybe a slightly bad choice of words, but still obvious that what he's referring to at that time was the actual content of the NIE.
What am I missing here? Do we just disagree or am I missing some new information? - allaboutdatiki, on 12/07/2007, -2/+4But the big question is what was that huge jacket she was wearing. Was it asbestos?
- inactive, on 12/07/2007, -0/+2false equivelency
- blackhawk919, on 12/07/2007, -0/+2Personally I don't really see anything there yet. But if it's true it sounds like it should be pretty easy to show that he lied. Who of the above has stated that the president lied? Why not?
I really don't see the point in this whole exercise. The NIE is out and the president has stated that his stance on Iran is the same. What is the difference if the NIE was out a year ago? His stance would obviously still be the same. - Charlotte_Web, on 12/08/2007, -1/+2From a New York Times Op-Ed piece 12/6/07, "In Iran We Trust?":
"During the past year, a period when Iran’s weapons program was supposedly halted, the government has been busy installing some 3,000 gas centrifuges at its plant at Natanz. These machines could, if operated continuously for about a year, create enough enriched uranium to provide fuel for a bomb. In addition, they have no plausible purpose in Iran’s civilian nuclear effort. All of Iran’s needs for enriched uranium for its energy programs are covered by a contract with Russia.
Iran is also building a heavy water reactor at its research center at Arak. This reactor is ideal for producing plutonium for nuclear bombs, but is of little use in an energy program like Iran’s, which does not use plutonium for reactor fuel. India, Israel and Pakistan have all built similar reactors — all with the purpose of fueling nuclear weapons. And why, by the way, does Iran even want a nuclear energy program, when it is sitting on an enormous pool of oil that is now skyrocketing in value? And why is Iran developing long-range Shahab missiles, which make no military sense without nuclear warheads to put on them? "

- brentinkc, on 12/08/2007, -0/+1Sorry dude, if you still identify as Republican and support all republican candidates in 2007 then you are soulless.
- inactive, on 12/07/2007, -1/+1Bush: I first heard about the NIE last wednesday (Nov. 28).
Bush: I heard about the NIE in August, but I wasn't told about the contents.
White House Press Secretary: Bush was briefed on the NIE in August. < - - - who of the above has stated that the president lied - inactive, on 12/07/2007, -1/+1What a bitch.
- inactive, on 12/07/2007, -1/+1"I don’t have any reason to question the — what the community has produced, with respect to the NIE on Iran [...] I think they’ve done the best job they can with the intelligence that’s available to give us their best judgment on those issues."
-Vice President Dick Cheney, December 6, 2007 - inactive, on 12/07/2007, -2/+2Bush: I first heard about the NIE last wednesday (Nov. 28).
Bush: I heard about the NIE in August, but I wasn't told about the contents.
White House Press Secretary: Bush was briefed on the NIE in August.
Sy Hersch: NIE was shown to the White House in 2006, Cheney delayed its release
Various Gov't officials/aides: Bush would have been briefed on the progress of every NIE during his daily briefings. - rudyghouliani, on 12/07/2007, -2/+1Then he died, well nearly there anyway.
- brentinkc, on 12/07/2007, -4/+3Well, about 25% of the country still identifies as Republican, so I'd say there's roughly 75 million soulless liars to choose from.
- Charlotte_Web, on 12/07/2007, -6/+4The REAL lie is that the Iran NIE was completed a year ago. How could that possibly be when one of the three main authors of it testified before Congress FOUR MONTHS AGO that Iran was pursuing nuclear weapons? Somewhere in the last four months, he did a complete 180 degree turn.

Also, a number of media outlets, including the left-leaning NY Times and the LA Times, are starting to poke holes in the credibility of the Iran NIE:
http://digg.com/politics/Dubious_Iran_NIE_is_Full_ ... - blackhawk919, on 12/07/2007, -7/+2I guess I missed it but how and when was it proved that Bush lied about his knowledge of the NIE? Is this something that's been something that's been proven or just what everyone wants to believe?
