- inactive, on 12/08/2008, -3/+163Since I've been watching this election, I've seen a lot of f-ed up things coming from the McCain campaign, but this is especially despicable. As a Jew, seeing him EXPLOIT the Holocaust to win votes makes me want to vomit.
- inactive, on 10/25/2008, -5/+153Yet another extremist scam to put a spotlight on lest we (FTA) "ignore the warning signs" of 2000 and 2004 !
- duckley, on 10/25/2008, -11/+143Republicans.
What else can you say?
They are like the oozing bug spattered on your windshield. - duckley, on 10/25/2008, -5/+109FTA:
"After several calls for comment about the e-mail, leaders of the state party repudiated it on Friday."
"But, contacted again on Friday night, Mr. Rudnick disputed the party’s version of events and said HE HAD APPROVAL for the letter from OFFICIAL at several levels."
Republicans make me sick. - cheesegypsy, on 10/25/2008, -4/+74Big surprise here. They get more desperate by the day.
- bluevillage, on 10/25/2008, -2/+63And you will know their names:
"And it was signed by several prominent McCain supporters in the state: Mitchell L. Morgan, a top fund-raiser; Hon. Sandra Schwartz Newman, a member of Mr. McCain’s national task-force monitoring Election Day voting, and I. Michael Coslov, a steel industry executive.
"After several calls for comment about the e-mail, leaders of the state party repudiated it on Friday. They said it had been released without their authorization and that they had fired the strategist who helped draft it, Bryan Rudnick." - samimnot, on 10/25/2008, -2/+62"Mr. Barley said the GOP would send a correction to those who received the email. “We apologize and that was definitely not something we authorize”
COUGH (*****) COUGH... - MsMike, on 10/25/2008, -3/+59If you are a registered voter, don't let anyone or anything stop you from voting! - magnolia17, on 10/25/2008, -4/+57Just when you the GOP might learn their lesson with all of the negative campaigning and the diminishing poll numbers in response, someone else steps up to the plate to deliver some new slime! What can you expect with the GOP though? Want to rally the base? Go negative!!! -- what they forgot about is alienating moderates.
nah-nah, nah-nah, hey-hey-hey, GOODBYE! - pennsykid2000, on 10/25/2008, -3/+54Notice how every single tactic the Republicans are trying involves lies and smears? Nothing positive anywhere in their messages. If people really want to change the tone in Washington and in elections, then it's clear you can't vote for Republicans.
- StatiK69, on 10/25/2008, -3/+49Crap like this is the GOP's only hope at winning the election. Lies, threats of terror, comments about our safety, cheating, slander... McCain's campaign is the dirtiest I've seen.
I think to myself, this year feels different... There's still the same amount of name calling/mud slinging... however it's only coming from ONE SIDE!
I live in Arizona... what has McFail done for me? Nothing except told me what's wrong over and over again. What has Obama done for me? Nothing except told me what's wrong AND how things can be changed. There's a big difference between these two candidates. - thePTS, on 10/26/2008, -2/+47At some point you have to stop and ask yourself what kind of people you are associating yourself with. Why do conservative / right-wing politicians in all countries in the world, tend to be double-standard, egoistical *****?
With a strong stance on moral issues but a tendency to make up the rules for morality as they go along?
Why are there more religious fundamentalists in the republican party than you will find in many parts of Iran? - JoeMondo, on 10/25/2008, -2/+43Why do so many conservatives think NOTHING of outright and absolute lies to voters to achieve their ends?
Don't they ever think that maybe if you have to lie to win, you're on the wrong side? - dBass, on 10/25/2008, -3/+44In Florida, the rethugs are calling Sen. Obama a communist to get the Cuban-Americans going. So the rethugs are also exploiting the Cuban exiles.
This is by far the most extreme, slimiest campaign I can remember: It makes "swift boats" and "Willie Horton" look like child's play.
McCain you dick. - digitalpencil, on 10/26/2008, -1/+39^ i couldn't have said it better myself.. no-one with their head screwed on would argue that ALL Republicans are duplicitous, holier-than-thou, bible-bashing ***** but you have to ask yourself.. why do all the racist bigots vote GOP? What precisely is it about my party's policies that attracts this specific demographic?
- inactive, on 10/25/2008, -2/+38a cornered animal lashes out wildly -- that's what we are seeing :)
- schkura, on 10/25/2008, -2/+33Couldn't find anyone else to slice up their faces for you PA GOP? Suggestion: Next time do an "O" and it won't look like you did it in the mirror.
Jerks. =) - inactive, on 10/25/2008, -0/+29Senators are elected to 6 year terms.
Roughly one-third of senators are up for election every two years.
Neither McCain nor Obama are up for re-election this year. Obama's term is up in 2010. If he wins the presidency, he will resign his seat, and the governor of Illinois will appoint a replacement to fulfill the remainder of his term.
It is possible, although not the greatest public relations ploy, to run for president and senator at the same time. If I recall correctly, Lieberman ran for both VP AND senator in 2000. He won his senate re-election campaign, and, of course, lost the VP bid (or had it stolen, depending on your view of events). - neonoodle, on 10/26/2008, -2/+30nicely said, thePTS
- inactive, on 10/26/2008, -2/+30"Oh yes, because everyone knows that all Republicans support this behavior. The people who sent out that e-mail are morons - and I'm a conservative."
You are judged by the company you keep. - qwerter, on 10/26/2008, -0/+27Exactly. Politicians who cannot win with the truth should not deserve to win at all. Ever.
- acroyear2, on 10/26/2008, -1/+28These rampant comparisons to Hitler... I don't get it. I mean, besides it being lazy and the most recent figure we can universally despise but seriously, how do people buy into this?
He speaks well... just like Hitler!?
He's popular... just like Hitler??
He wants to change things up... oh my god, just like Jesus! I mean HITLER?!
I just can't believe it. A good man is running for office, happens to be black and now white America is scared he's going to kill them all? Is that it?? I pray this is a generational thing. It's everyone's duty here to tell their parents not to be ***** idiots. They have a little bit they can learn from each of us. - thelif, on 10/26/2008, -1/+25GOP Strategy Session
"How do we convince people to vote for John McCain?"
"...."
"Alright, how do we convince people to NOT vote for Obama?"
"Oh hey let's make something up about him then deny it when they blame us"
*high five* - inactive, on 10/26/2008, -0/+24"That's what the Republicans were saying about Obama and his "relationship" with Bill Ayers. "
What's wrong with Bill Ayers? He won Chicago Citizen of the Year 1997. He's a respected professor. He works tirelessly to improve education. He receives most of his charity funding from the Republican elite.
Oh, you're talking about something he did 40 years ago, even though he turned himself into the FBI, and for which the charges were dropped. Yeah, Obama is an evil ***** for working on a charity board with him!
Not only are you judged by the company you keep, you're also judged by the Rush Limbaugh talking points you recite. - thePTS, on 10/26/2008, -0/+21You distance yourself from the republicans, and you seem to agree there are some huge problems there. I don't know what you believe in ("conservative"?), which makes it's hard to tell why you would expect anyone to see you as a "bugsplat".
The democrats as bad? Come on. Some democrats may be holier than thou, and have their issues, but they are generally moderate through-and-through, they put people first, and they are far less about an "ideology". The level of volatility of a democrat administration is considerably lower. Clinton or Obama invade Iraq without the UN? Not a chance.
"And they have a ton of moderates also in the party to keep them more or less in check." "The actions of the few do not define the mindset of the many PTS."
With republicans (and other right-wing groups) we are not just talking about "a few" bad seeds. Come on. Sarah Palin? They're actually supporting Sarah Palin. They supported Bush. They have built the misconception that Ronald Reagan was the ideal leader.
As for your thought that you need more parties in your system, I couldn't agree more. If I were a moderate republican these days, I would be worrying about what the hell I was doing in that party.
Oh, and for those who thinks we now have 4 years without having to deal with republicans? Forget about that. The republicans are just now getting over their loss and realizing they have 4 years of finding flaws and scandals. Remember Levinsky? How they dug up Clinton's personal life and made him lie about it prime time? Get ready for that crap v2.0.
If the republican party is run by a democracy, and as diverse and balanced as you claim, it's a bit strange that a few extreme voices can keep pumping out filth on behalf of the entire party. - Falldog, on 10/25/2008, -1/+21I'm home visiting my parents and they got a bunch of ***** anti-Obama mailers from the Republican party. I promptly wrote "RTS" on them and placed them back in the mailbox.
- jackieblu, on 10/25/2008, -2/+22Sean Hannety sending that ***** out again, *****!
- keithloughnane, on 10/26/2008, -2/+21comparing Obama supporters to Nazis, Yeah, because they're the ones that are bigoted and violent. A lot of McCain supporters are practically brownshirts.
- brwright, on 10/26/2008, -3/+22Republicans, it's over.
- ElectricDoodie, on 10/26/2008, -1/+20My girlfriend's grandmother is from Pennsylvania. There, I found a bunch of idiots who are the minority who still believe George W. Bush is a great President. Whenever W. comes on, they cheer, "There's my baby!"
They also actually believe Obama is a... a... an.... AN ARAB! - fatTJ, on 10/26/2008, -1/+19My God, I am so unbelievably sickened by the Republican Party. I do consider myself a Republican, but am more off a Conservative. It has really taken me aback of the games they will play in order to deceive and manipulate the American People. It is times like these i have to denounce my conservative beliefs. Although I support none of Barack Obama's ideology, my effervescent nightmare of him becoming President has now cooled to a cry for help. Note: I am a former McCain supporter
Obama/Biden '08 - It's our Only Hope - inactive, on 10/26/2008, -1/+19Thank god they did this. I don't know any Jews that wouldn't be at least apathetic towards this kind of lie, and most I know would be very highly offended that some GOP shill was telling them their own history.
- pimpofpixels, on 10/26/2008, -1/+19Ashley Todd to John McCain:
"I learned it from watching YOU!!" - teamgwho, on 10/26/2008, -0/+13citatiom please. show me where any criticism of Obama has been declared racist. There have definately been racist acts taken, such as the statement "If Obama wins, is it still the white house". But show me a real criticism that has been dismissed as racist.
Please. Go ahead and back your words sir.
On the other hand I think it's fair to say that most criticism of Sarah Palin has been answered with a flat out "that's sexist" or "it's because she's a woman" which is *****. - altgeeky1, on 10/26/2008, -0/+13If you are a conservative who is annoyed at Republican behaviour, push your congressman to reform electoral law.
Right now everyone is SCREAMING for a middle-class party... but as the middle class shrinks, there will be less and less of a push for this. Other countries replace their conservative and liberal parties with BETTER pies when needed... the US is 2-parties ENFORCED. - L4mb, on 10/26/2008, -1/+14Everytime I see anything false attacks against Barack Obama I give him 25 bucks out of my measly pittance. Let me tell you I don't have much of a pay check left.
- teamgwho, on 10/26/2008, -1/+14keep piling the slime republicans. The more desperate you become, the more manure you try to hurl, the more obvious your pathetic attempts become.
- JoJoDilio, on 10/26/2008, -0/+13I've already had to explain to my parents that the email about how Barack Obama won't salute the flag is fake. It's too bad that so many people are fooled by this nonsense.
- schkura, on 10/25/2008, -1/+14Bryan Redneck?
- JohnnyMarr, on 10/26/2008, -1/+14If you don't have viable proof of something like this going on in the Obama campaign, please don't "guarantee 100% that Obama runs this kind of crap all the time."
- spectxim, on 10/26/2008, -1/+14Odd how they claim Obama is related to voter fraud when his party wasn't the ones locked out the last few elections through corruption...... ironic thinking anyone?
- Hillsfar, on 10/26/2008, -2/+14At some point, these race-baiting Republicans are gonna have to face their Father's Judgment.
Except, I don't think they really are believers. - blix797, on 10/26/2008, -0/+12Aka, "We're (kinda sorta not really) sorry we got caught this time, please accept this scapegoat. We'll be back with something better next week."
- Gerz1219, on 10/26/2008, -0/+12Biden is actually running for re-election to the Senate right now. It hasn't gotten much attention because he's up like 40 points in the polls. When Obama wins, the (Democratic) governor of Delaware will appoint a replacement, likely Beau Biden if he's not in Iraq.
For obvious reasons, this only works for very safe seats. In a competitive race, the opponent could easily point and say "Look, he doesn't even want to be your senator!" Also, the party affiliation of the governor making the appointment is often a serious consideration when choosing running mates and cabinet officials, because the president's party doesn't want to lose a seat. - JoeMondo, on 10/26/2008, -2/+14"You guys are about to reelect William Jefferson for the second time while he is on trial for being caught with 90k in marked bills in his freezer during an FBI bribery investigation."
I'm doing no such thing, nor is the whole of the party.
Thanks! - dedknedy, on 10/25/2008, -1/+13I've got a question for you politically savvy people.
Seeing as how both candidates are currently senators, and the senate elections are also this year, and you can't run for the senate and the presidency at the same time. Does that mean who ever looses this election also looses their seat in the senate?
Sorry if it's off topic, but it's been on my mind all week. - inactive, on 12/08/2008, -0/+12Is it having any effect on the Cuban-Americans in FL? I would think that anyone who immigrated from Cuba (or has family there) would realize this is a bunch of crap.
- alittleroy101, on 10/26/2008, -1/+12Look, I have to point this out.
It's loses. Not looses. - digitalpencil, on 10/26/2008, -1/+12In that case, they should send out another email retracting the slander made in the previous iteration and publically apologize for attempting to leverage the holocaust and genocide generally, as a device to gain voter support for GOP.
I'm British and God knows we have our own political problems in this country but i am constantly astounded by the sheer and unmitigated duplicity of this party's campaign. It baffles me to think that propaganda tactics and voter purging of this magnitude are being utilised so transparently and without consequence by a modern, Western and democratic political party.. - cocainxbluez, on 10/26/2008, -0/+11People really have to start separating Conservative and Republican. The republicans have almost nothing in common with true conservatism. I think if/when Obama wins, and IF he does well as president you will see a fracture in the republican party. Conservatives and Neo-Con Jeebus freaks all going at each other pointing fingers. In the end it will be for the best because Religion has no place in politics. Hopefully we'll see a return to some sort of true conservatism which I really have no problems with. It's the false flag of conservatism wrapped around a cross that I have a true beef with. I call if fascism.
