- DrunkenDevil, on 12/07/2007, -8/+215***** YOU, FRANK!
- mt066, on 12/07/2007, -34/+123So polls are ***** now? Can we stop seeing Ron Paul's results in the polls on the front page then? Or anywhere for that matter?
- inactive, on 12/07/2007, -28/+86No, you don't get it. It's ***** only when unfavorable to Ron Paul.
- DefaultGen, on 12/07/2007, -7/+64"Hey Luntz you're an idiot!"
- huxleyan, on 12/07/2007, -14/+65I am working on my PhD in Political Science and I can tell you that MOST surveys are not, in fact, *****. Political scientists work for years to reword questions, response ordering, and question ordering in the hopes of arriving at accurate results.
Luntz is considered in our field to be a partisan hack and his results would never get published in any sort of credible, peer reviewed, journal. - lordmetroid, on 12/07/2007, -2/+45Unfortunately, people in general don't read peer reviewed journals.
- sigafoo, on 12/07/2007, -11/+52Penn and Teller : *****
one of the best shows on tv... - Bridea, on 12/07/2007, -2/+36I do a lot of statistical research and, when you are surveying for scientific purposes, you *have* to ask the same question in a variety of ways to validate the results. Exactly like Frank said, the wording of a question totally influences an individual's response.
So, next time you see a poll, and right after you scream "***** you frank", start asking questions like: what's the source of the data? what was the question asked? what sample of the population was polled? etc. think this is a lot of work? well it is. because pie charts and bar graphs are full of *****, and you got to do some digging to get to the truth. - mt066, on 12/07/2007, -2/+30Whoa whoa whoa there, college boy. I only trust Penn + Teller videos that I found on YouTube, OK?
- GunsGermsSteel, on 12/07/2007, -7/+35Lord knows I'm not a Ron Paul fan, but the guy has got a grass-roots campaign as opposed to a top-down, highly manipulative corporate campaign. That's not to say that his followers aren't way, WAY over-zealous, but this is a guy who doesn't have a Frank on the payroll.
- tomee, on 12/07/2007, -0/+26It wasn't canceled. Season 6 starts 2008.
- Noctem, on 12/07/2007, -5/+23No, they said environmental _extremism_ and global warming _hysteria_ is *****.
- shadash, on 12/07/2007, -0/+18that guy is a weasel dressed in a used car salesman suit
- Hazardc, on 12/07/2007, -1/+18but i thought liberals were the elitist people? man this ***** is confusing.
- AndrewDB, on 01/10/2008, -0/+15Really?! Sweet. Thanks for the good news!
- tsos2, on 12/07/2007, -3/+18Did you hear what he said? He was essentially saying Americans are unable (or too dumb) to choose for themselves. I could be wrong though. I'm just a dumb American. ***** you Frank!
- Ouchimoo, on 12/07/2007, -9/+24Liberals aren't exactly what Fox Noise and Co. tell you they are.
- lordmetroid, on 12/07/2007, -2/+17My glimpses perceives a poll... What is that I hear?
- ***** YOU FRANK! - Balanced, on 12/07/2007, -2/+17I don't think the show was canceled?
- twojciac, on 12/07/2007, -2/+16Are you suggesting that the American public seeks out peer reviewed polls, and they don't make decisions about a candidate based upon a herd mentality?
- Hazardc, on 12/07/2007, -0/+14see "Limbaugh, Rush"
oh wait, you said subtle... - tsos2, on 12/07/2007, -5/+16***** YOU FRANK!
- themastersb, on 12/07/2007, -1/+12***** YOU FRANK
- Culled, on 12/07/2007, -2/+13Wrong, hobbit movies are awesome. 100% of people agree.
- MWeather, on 12/07/2007, -9/+20Right, because Ron Paul supporters share a single hive mind. They aren't composed of many individuals with different, sometimes conflicting, opinions.
- Bodhinature, on 12/07/2007, -0/+11You will be libertarianated.
- TVarmy, on 12/07/2007, -1/+12Then I'd like to insult the singular Ron Paul mind. You have vandalized my Dennis Kucinich campaign sign. I don't appreciate that, and you've been a terrible suitemate.
- dungbeetle, on 12/07/2007, -1/+11I am Ronpaul of Borg. resistance is futile.
- Hazardc, on 12/07/2007, -1/+11actually it does pretty good, and isn't cancelled!
- PremiumBitter, on 12/07/2007, -2/+12What about the conservative stay-at-home Moms? What about poor Southern whites?
Not exactly a very 'liberal' crowd. - perhapsimcrazy, on 12/07/2007, -2/+12I think i say this for everyone else...
What a douchebag. - TheSwashbuckler, on 12/07/2007, -2/+11Just as most corporate criminals are conservatives...
- chaosium, on 12/07/2007, -4/+13"welfare queens"
Your usage of that phrase marks you as an idiot. - card51short, on 12/07/2007, -0/+9you mean to tell me that 2 las vegas magicians aren't scientific in their research?
- ivandir, on 12/07/2007, -1/+10FCUK YOU FRANK!
- Doug_E_Style, on 12/07/2007, -0/+8I miss monkey tuesdays!
- rarson, on 12/07/2007, -1/+9If you love your country as much as we do, and think that America is in deep ***** that it really needs to get out of, you'd be overzealous too.
I'm not saying for Ron Paul, but for whomever your chosen candidate is. - HerbSolo, on 12/07/2007, -0/+8apparently that episode is planned:
From wikipedia:
During an interview on the January 31, 2007 episode of The Skeptics' Guide to the Universe, Teller claimed that the final episode of the show would be about "the ***** of *****!" and would detail all the criticisms that they themselves had at the show.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Penn_%26_Teller:_Bull ... - oldhick, on 12/07/2007, -3/+10I'm still having trouble seeing how this relates to Ron Paul??? So polls are BS and depending on how we ask questions you get different answers. So everyone digging this story thinks Ron Paul has what 30-40% of the voters behind him? While I wish that was true, I would say his 5% is still very close to accurate. I still meet more people that haven't even heard of him period then know anything about him. Hopefully that'll change.
- OttawaMarcin, on 12/07/2007, -2/+9***** YOU FRANK LUTZ. SUCK MY HILARY STICKS!
- sonicEd, on 12/07/2007, -0/+7Anyone else notice that Digg is a poll? ***** you Frank.
- HerbSolo, on 12/07/2007, -1/+8I know that surveys are a lot of hard work, if you want to do them right.
The problem is, for the average joe it's hard to see the difference, and that's why unscientific polls are so popular to affect opinions instead of determining them. - huxleyan, on 12/07/2007, -1/+8So basically you are saying that all of social science is *****.
Since I can't ask every American how they feel about some issue that means that I can make no conclusions about how Americans feel?
That's the same as saying a biologist cannot assume that every cell has a nucleus unless he examines every cell in the world.
Uh-huh. - rarson, on 12/07/2007, -3/+10Um, the polls are ***** because the media uses them to sway public opinion. They've been pretty clearly trying to ignore Paul, so the fact that he does good in any polls is rather notable, since as has been demonstrated before, he is often not represented clearly due to the way the polls are presented.
Yeah, polls are *****, and they don't mean much, but when you see Paul racking one up, that's pretty significant because it shows he has real support, despite the fact that the media is pretty slanted against him. - mal1964, on 12/07/2007, -0/+7Lawyers do it all the time, A good Lawyer never asks a question that he doesn't already know what the answer is going to be.
- HerbSolo, on 12/07/2007, -1/+8...while in the fifth season they stated that "Greenhouse gases cause global warming" (the hybrid-car / atomic energy episode)
And allthough they have without a doubt unveiled lots of *****, their show can hardly be called "scientific". It's more of an enjoyable rant, but it doesn't offer much real information. Their interview partners are usually selected carefully, in order to make the "*****" side look lunatic, while the interview partners for their side are often presented as specialists although they're hardly unbiased. For example the "specialist" on atomic energy was from the "Competitive Enterprise Institute", which isn't a scientific institute but an industry lobbying group. (And the same "Institute" that provided the "specialists" for the global-warming episode)
In this case this is especially sad, because it can't be that much of a problem to get a real scientist who explains why the panic about nuclear energy is disproportionate.

- UnkelJethro, on 12/07/2007, -5/+11This just in...some people maniuplate subtle truths to achieve their goals.
See "Moore, Michael". - drakethegreat, on 12/07/2007, -5/+11We are over-zealous because we think its the only way to win. Unfortunately a majority of the other candidates have the luxury of corporate money so this is the only chance we get. Also I don't think the point of people posting RP winning polls has anything to do with them thinking they are accurate but more to do with the fact that they were manipulated to help other candidates and he STILL WON. Either way only the results of the real election will actually matter and thats assuming they are ***** over by eVoting.
